puddles

Rain dance didn’t work, no puddles in sight despite it being “national splash in a puddle day” or something like that. We started with a quick disclaimer, pledge, and warmup. We had a solid group this am. Numbers are nice, but I’ll take a good quality group of guys no matter what the numbers are any day of the week, even on “national splash in a puddle day.”

I ‘splained what that initial plan would be: mosey to Sandy’s Hill. On the way, 2 merkins and 2 squats at each light. This was part of the warmup actually and was just about right. We got to the bottom of the hill and then moseyed up to the top for 25 LBCs. Mosey down for 25 merkins and 25 LBCs. I think this is where I pulled out the photos on my phone for something to share-I found a list of “Things To Teach Your Son” which is ironic because I don’t have any sons….still good info to share and should be common knowledge for most HIMs. I’ll share a few below so keep on reading. We moseyed up to the breezeway at the school for some suicides. At each light on the breezeway, stop for 10 Mountain Climbers then back to start. When you pass the previous light(s) stop for 5 squats then proceed to subsequent light for 10 MCs. Continue until we got thru them all. Roscoe went off road to make room and fortunately didn’t step in any gopher holes. Time was getting short so we moseyed back and hit some merkins at most of the lights on the way home. We timed it just right to finish with a route 66 on the lights growing the last 10 or 11 lights with 1 more Merkin each light. We finished with a COT then took off.

Here are a few of my favorites:

The man at the BBQ grill is the closest thing to a king.

Don’t let a wishbone grow where a backbone should be.

If you need music on the beach, you are missing the point.

You marry the girl, you marry her family.

Never be afraid to ask out the best looking girl in the room.

After writing an angry email, read it carefully. Then delete it. (did this a few times today actually)

Manners maketh the man.

In all things lead by example not explanation.  (You’ve probably heard “I’d rather see a sermon than hear 1 any day” before.)

thanks guys-Whoopee

Reverse Kotter Route

The Pub was open with nice weather and a bunch of PAX ready to push rocks at either the PUB or the Diablo Sammich.  It is nice to see the numbers increasing in January.  Kudo’s to our First F Q Flintstone for getting the Pushing Rocks Challenge off to such a great start.

The five mile pub route was the Defib Kotter route in reverse.  Run up Robinwood, right on Robinwood, Right on Hudson, Left on Windyrush, Right on Riding Trail, right on Willow Creek, Left on White Willow and right on Armstrong Park Road and back to the start.  It was a fast pace but enjoyable because it broke up into small groups of runners.  The fellowship was great and not only did YHC run fast, but also almost secured some employment while on the run.

Saturday 50 miler for charity starting at Old School at 0530.

February 11th….The Folsom Winter Nationals!

F3 Midoriyama – January 12, 2023

We had 10 PAX for a modified version of the F3 Cardinal VQ Workout in memory of Taylor Phelps.

Seeing no FNG’s I gave a brief disclaimer and we headed toward the picnic shelter. Nonetheless, we saw Leppard in his truck changing so we played ring around the rosy with him until he started the car.

Leppard and Tonka would join us a few minutes later for Warm Up.

WARM UP:
15 SSH IC
10 Tempo Merkins
10 Fluter Kicks IC
10 Little Baby Arm Circles (forward and reverse) IC

Prior to the beatdown, I read off a quick bio of Taylor (F3 Cardinal) Phelps. He was 36 years old and was a pastor at Carney Ford Baptist Church. His wife had posted that he struggled with loneliness, until he found F3. She said he became a new man and was very happy.

1966 or Not

You forget how important it is to be a part of the PAX and YHC is grateful to be back at it with this group of HIMs.  No better time to jump back into Q’ing as well than on my birthday and to include a trivia game “1966 or Not” for the year I was born.   The Q presents an event that happened in the mid-60s and the PAX must decide if it happen in “66 or Not”.  Incorrect answers result in 5 burpees.  The PAX did well and  were happy to have Double Respect Tesla on their side.

Disclaimer, pledge, and a reminder to honor F3 Cardinal today and pray for his family.  Warm-up, some Route 66s…….well, obviously………some work circled up, and finished with some bear crawl Dora.

Great work by all and well done Orangeman getting your full money’s worth with 5 burpees in the COT.  Prayers for Cardinal’s family and his PAX in Knoxville.  Finally, a reminder that God puts opportunities in front of us to be kind to someone else.  I pray that each of us seeks out that opportunity and acts upon it today, no matter how big or small.  Thanks for the honor of leading today, men!

Flattery for Uncle Ted

If you’ve ever seen Tesla, aka, Uncle Ted, perform side-straddle hops, you can never unsee it. It’s also a great way to warm the body up on frosty mornings.

7 HIMs posted at TRB this morning, and here’s what went down.

Warm-up with SSHs, Uncle Ted SSHs (essentially double time with one leg offset from the other), and some gravel pickers.

Mosey to the side wall for a not well received 11s. This included hip slappers at the top and Mike Tyson’s at the bottom. YHC eased up on the Pax by calling 10 hip slappers first (count one arm only, of course), going down in count. Tube was called on for a 10 count, which was performed in Spanish, with some help.

Mosey to the steps at the back lot where we performed two calf raises each step. At the top, option to bear crawl or lunge walk down the sidewalk. Rinse and repeat with four calf raises each step.

It’s always a good idea to strengthen the back and shoulders, and pull-ups tend to be a weak area, so to the kiddy playground we went. 15 pull-ups followed by 30 squats, followed by another 10 pull-ups.

Mosey to the track to kill the rest of the time with dips and step ups at the bleachers, followed by Bolt 45s at the opposite side. Rinse and repeat 2x, and time for COT, after the pledge.

Announcements: Roundup and Hacksaw 50 in 24 this Saturday, 5am, at Old School; Coffeeteria at Floyd & Blackies (you can usually find a Pax or two there Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday)

On the Road Again

14 men joined YHC Tuesday at Midoriyama. Thats 15 total for those of you that struggle with things like math and wear a lite pole is shining.

Warmup:

SSH x 2 ic. Lets mosey. We grabbed some blocks and moved them down the road to the stop sign.

We did this during my last Q but didn’t have time to finish it all so I saved it for another day.

The Thang:

10 block swings, run to the next light pole ON THE ROAD(that means the light pole positioned to shine it’s lite on the road, not just any pole you can see from the road)(for future claritys sake), do 10 V-ups, run back to your block, rifle carry it to the next pole, rinse and repeat to the end of the rode. Good times right hear. We turned around and started working our way back doing the same thing but with 5 thrusters and 5 hand release merkins. Instead of a rifle carry we did farmers carrys. I have to admit I like this style of WOD and believe I will use it often in the future. It works great at midoriyama with the amount of lite poles on the road(if you count them write).

COT:

I read a little from Jocko about remaining vigilant
