Month: December 2022 (Page 10 of 11)

Dora the Explora

Or maybe it’s more like “Dora tried to explora but was too ambitious and then a train felt disrespected and decided to mess everything up for the QIC”

A chilly but great feeling morning with YHC replacing Pillager in the regular four to post, but let’s get to it!

The Warmup: 15 SSH, 15 Imperial Walkers, 10 burpees OYO

Then we mosey to Ida Ranking

1st Dora: 50 Hand Release Merkins, 100 Big Boys, 150 Squats.

Begin moseying to the parking lot behind Catawba Coffee…while en route, YHC brags that once you do an exercise this morning you won’t have to do it again…including burpees. You can’t make this up…not 10 seconds after that statement, the VERY rare train makes it’s presence known with a far off blast and the PAX pick up the pace so we can make it across the tracks.

2nd Dora: 50 regular Merkins, 100 Lunges, 150 Flutters

That train? Yeah apparently it was the longest and slowest train in the history of trains…or at least Mt. Holly. So we mosey to the parking lot of First United Methodist Church for our 3rd Explora…

3rd Dora: 100 Overhead Claps, 200 LBCs, 300 Mountain Climbers

Train finishes as we finish and time is now creeping up on us…so the PAX head back to Mt. Holly Middle for a little bit of Mary, where Blueprint makes us just roll around on the ground for 2 minutes.

Time.

Prayers: Turtleman, Pillager and his new 2.0, Red Ribbon’s friend (Huffstetler family)

It was great to lead these guys, great to get out to start the week again on the right foot. Even if we didn’t get to finish exploring or dora-ing.

Our honor defend…

Prayer Request

YHC closed in prayer,

Thanks men for the opportunity to lead this morning, as always, it was an honor.

Over and out,

It’s Been Almost a Year

For lots of different reasons, I had not Q’d a bootcamp since just before Christmas 2021.  I have led Q Source and Coconut Horse several times but not a bootcamp.  Several weeks ago, Flintstone asked me to finish off his Redwood tour today.  I reluctantly agreed not knowing what shape I would be in.  As it goes in F3 though, put it on the calendar and let’s go.

I was humbled to see so many show up to an AO that typically has 3 – 5 pax each week.

No FNG’s so let’s go.

Short warm-up with 10 SSH’s and 10 Imperial Walkers in cadence.

We then headed to Martha Rivers for an old school.

Field #4 for some Four Corners (appropriate as JJ was making excuses for the recent Tarheel basketball performances):

Round 1:  10 Merkins – 20 Squats – 30 SSH’s – 40 LBC’s

Round 2:  10 CCD’s – 20 Squats – 30 SSH’s – 40 Flutter Kicks

Mosey back over near the main picnic shelter for some 11’s across the parking lot:

Round 1:  Merkins & Squats

Round 2:  CCD’s ascending 1 – 10 on one side with 10 flutter kicks each time on the other side

This took us up to a few minutes before 0615 and we headed back to the start.

Short Sale led some Mary while also giving me a hard time for modifying.

COT – Prayer requests and announcements.

Thanks to all for coming out for my Kotter Q.

It was an honor to lead it this morning.

Until the next one.  Aye!

Stroganoff

The Sword 12/5/22

It was great to have the opportunity to Q this morning.

The Bible verse was Jeremiah 29:11

Prayer Request:

SA’s Daughter, Wire Nuts Daughter and future Grand Baby, plus his parents.

Huck and turtle Man.

The Bed Pan is Full!

Giving Back at Folsom

14 PAX on a mild December morning for a JV workout led by YHC. Gonna keep it pretty simple today, so let’s get started. Disclaimer, pledge, quick warmup and let’s go.

Mosey to the block pile and partner up. One partner rifle carries the block while the other does 3 burpees then runs to catch up and switch. Continue in this manner all the way to the upper parking lot at the Ag Building. Enough block work for now.

Double Dirty Merkin Ladder

20 merkins on one side of the parking lot, run across to the far side stopping for a burpee at each of the islands and then 19 merkins. Back and forth across the lot dropping the merkins by 1 each time and continuing with the burpees each time you cross the island. This took quite a bit longer than YHC had allotted, so the weinke will need to be modified. Not the first Q fail and won’t be the last.

Back to the blocks. Partner up again for some Dora 1-2-3. One runs a lap around the lot while the other works.

100 Alpo’s

200 Goblet squats

300 Chest press

Take the blocks back to the pile the same way you got them here.

Time is running short, but we still have work to do. Head to the tennis courts for some Walkercides. Run one court for 5 IW squats then back to start for 5 Big Boys, run to second court for 10 IW squats then back to start for 5 Big Boys. Keep it up until you’ve made it all the way across. We may have been a minute or two late getting back to the flag, but no complaints. Not any that I listened to anyway.

NMM/COT

About halfway through the workout I asked the PAX to consider how they would answer two questions.

  1. What has F3 given me?
  2. What have I given back as a result of what I’ve been given?

We had a good discussion on these questions and the importance of giving back. Giving back entails sacrifice and you have to give up something to be able to do it. Make the sacrifice and make a difference in the lives of others.

“I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.”

Maya Angelou

Be praying for:

Huck, Turtleman, Super Dave’s mom, MW’s friend from church, Purple Haze’s mom, Bedpan’s mother in law, military and others away from family during the holidays and all the sickness going around.

YHC took us out.

I’m Broke

The Old Crossroad Switcharoo and Nipple Bandit

YHC and Purple Haze switched AO’s for Q-Source and he completed his backblast before me #HIM
Being named the 2023 Nantan is an honor and after that big announcement and the Christmas party dessert table YHC needed to get in some first F. A lot of Crossroads PAX were running ten miles but the rest of us mortals needed to do the standard. YHC voluntold Def Leppard to pick the route since YHC doesn’t know much about Dallas except the town square, Folsom, and Old School. Def Leppard repaid me with immediately beginning the (2 lap) Gaston College route and nippling and defiling my drivers side mirror with a sweaty nipple band aid after the workout. You hate to see it.
The Mayor led the way for the first half of the run and has continued to impress. He truly is a runner now. Wichita could only be controlled so long before he pulled away but at least he knew where he was going. Gumby and I had a nice run and fellowship mosey and we all finished with a total of 13 runners.

8 stayed for Q-Source on “Articulation”. When a leader has a vision, he must articulate the mission so that others understand (not necessarily like) the mission. The more complicated the vision, the more articulation is required to describe the waypoints it will take to get there. Every person can articulate, but most people choose not to, but a leader must articulate because that is what leaders do.
Announcements: Possible beer mile in late December?
Prayer Requests: Turtleman, Huckleberry, Gumby’s Mom and Brother in law. Each other and family. Those who struggle with depression and/or loss during the holidays.
Be on the lookout for 2023 news. I am thinking about a good New Year’s Day beatdown convergence to start the year off sore….I mean right.
If you haven’t read Freed to Lead or Q-Source, make it a resolution and do so. Dredd and OBT articulate what it means to be in F3 in those books and you will understand (it doesn’t matter if you like it) it better.
Aye!

A little push at The Goat

YHC got up this fine frosty morning with the idea of bringing a little something extra to The Goat this morning. And he did! Went a little like this:

DORA 1-2-3 at top lot by the tracks.

Mosey to the corner by the Twisted Goat, rinse and repeat above 15X

Mosey to the corner by the memorial, rinse and repeat X 20

NM: Great push today, Small 4 man crew to start with and expanded to the running crew of BOS, Orangemen, and Breaker Breaker that showed up also. Again, a great push and a great day to lead these fine men!

Foreign Exchange Q

Following a quick conversation some weeks back, Roscoe and I decided to do a little “switcheroo” for Q-source.  He led the team at Crossroads and I traveled to Coconut Horse.  I arrived in the parking lot and it wasn’t long before Flintstone returned from some solo EC.  The others soon arrived and we were off!   All returned and we moved indoors for Q-source (Equipping).  Thanks men, it was an honor to lead.

Announcements / COT:  Christmas party was a big success and a lot of fun / Adopt-a-highway next Saturday after Gashouse, HC with Freight / Turtleman Christmas decorating still trying to confirm / Possible New Year’s Day convergence somewhere but stayed tuned…

Prayer Requests:  Purple Haze’s Mom / Queso concussion recovery / Turtleman

Excuse me while I kiss the sky!  PH

Crossroads 11/27/22

Some rucked, some ran but we ALL got soaked!  It was a wet mess.  One FNG that came to the Christmastown 5K the night before returned for the gloom at Crossroads.  Welcome Andrew Caskey (F3 Kernel)!  He’s hoping to explore the regions near Fayetteville, NC where he serves at Bragg.  A total of 10 HIM put in some work.
