Back to Midoriyama

Been a while since I’ve been to Midoriyama. I guess the heat and me being the Q scared everyone off.

I had didnt really write a weinke because i planned to freestyle 1/2 the workout with some cone drills, the agility ladder, etc and finish with some Ultimate Frisbee. Didnt have the numbers for frisbee so we just freestyled the whole thing. I dont really remember what we did.

Short mosey to parking lot across from flag.  Exercise called here is Route 66. Start at first parking space line and do 1 Mike Tyson.  Bear crawl to 2nd line for 2 Mike Tyson’s.  Bear crawl to next line for 3 Mike Tyson’s, etc.  Continue this until you reach the 11th line for 11 Mike Tyson’s.

15 Dips, 25 Derkins

Mosey back towards start, but stopping at the tennis courts for some work.  Next exercise is a suicide routine.  Line up on side, facing length of all courts.  Run to first light pole and back for 10 Big Boys.  Run to 2nd light pole and back for 20 Big Boys.  Run to end and back for 30 Big Boys.   We had time to run this again, but change the exercise to 10 IW Squats, 20 IW Squats, 30 IW Squats. 4yr F3 Anniversary Q

13 men at Midoriyama!!  Went like this:

Warm-up:

Not much of anything

The Thang:

Mosey towards the Pier Hill.  Always a crowd pleaser, and the complaining was top notch!!  Triple Nickel called.  5 Burpees at the top, run to the bottom for 5 Imperial Walker Squats, then back up.  This is done for 5 rounds.  This sucked!!  The hill never gets easier, especially in the summer heat. We did have to wait on Sparky, for him to take a Catfish off a hook for a guy for the second time during this routine. I think this was just an excuse for him to skip out on the reps!!

Next mosey back to the main road, stopping at the light pole.  Start with 1 Hand Release Merkin, 2 Mountain Climbers, 3 LBCs.  Mosey to next light pole for 2 HR Merkins, 4 MC, 6 LBCs.  Next light pole 3 HR Merkins, 6 MC, 9 LBCs, etc.  Continue this finishing up at the 10th light pole with 10 HR Merkins, 20 MC, 30 LBCs.  That one sucked as well!!

Everyone looked pretty smoked, but we still had time left.  So Dirty 11s is what’s next.  Start at the turd shack beside the flag.  Do 1 Hip Slapper(count one side), mosey across parking lot stopping for 1 Burpee in the middle, continue to other side for 10 Mike Tyson’s, mosey back across stopping for 1 Burpee.  Then do 2 Hip Slappers, Burpee, 9 Mike Tyson’s, 1 Burpee.  Continue until you finish with 10 Hip Slappers and 1 Mike Tyson.  This was awful!!!  We ran out of tine before most could finish!!  Walk back to COT. Time!!

Grab a Partner!

9 PAX showed up at The Storm and were introduced to the partner with whom they would spend most of the upcoming 45 min. As far as I know, there were no complaints about the assigned partners.

A Kotter, “Spork”, made an appearance after about a 2-year hiatus. (He’s obviously been staying fit since his last F3 post, though, including a 4-month-long hike of the entire Appalachian Trail. He recently got back from that hike, and still kept up with the PAX just fine.)

Some PAX got in some EC ahead of time, which included some running and also NUOS training in prep for the August 6th-7th GrowRuck.

No FNGs, brief disclaimer.

NMM / COT

Proverbs 11:14 – “For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisors.”

This was the QSource verse for the study this week and the topic was Shared Leadership. It tells us that if we rely solely on our own opinions then we are sure to fail, however, if we surround ourselves with like minded Christians who provide support and guidance we are sure to succeed. This is true in all aspects of life and I like to think of it as the good kind of peer pressure. Rely on the experience and knowledge of others to help you through whatever you’re going through. Life is not meant to be lived alone.

Great to be back at Mt. Hollywood and thanks to Freon for allowing me to Q. I’ve been trying to get some more run training in for upcoming relays and haven’t been doing a lot of bootcamps on Mondays, but this is a great AO with a solid core group of PAX. Keep pushing the rock!

I’m Broke

God knows your heart!

Three of us out to get a few miles in this morning and to talk about the word of God.

I had the opportunity to share my experience I had at camp a few weeks ago and let me tell you it was great!

Our verse was 1 Samuel 16:7

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

The lord sees our heart and wether it’s pure or not, wether it is for him or against him, wether it is full of love or full of sin. No matter what man sees or says the lord knows the true YOU! What I experienced at camp was an eye opener as a youth pastor, father and as a leader. These kids have been misled in many ways spiritually because of us leaders walking around covering up bondage. The kids need to see us in our weakness and in our trials of life, they need to see our reaction to the things that battle us daily. When we are weak he is strong! They need to see Christ working in you.

I talked to my youth group all week about different things but I was able to speak to the guys about being a man. Society has put a label on what a man is suppose to look like and these guys are using that label in forming their lives. Some of them think they’re not worthy or they’re not good enough at life so they’re not good enough for the lord which is FALSE! Some of them think they have to degrade women, drink alcohol and cuss to be more of a man which is also FALSE! What we need to do is love the lord with all our heart all of our soul and all of our minds! Nothing will makes us more of a man than loving Jesus Christ. Being a Godly man in every situation.

I told them that is a hard thing to do in the flesh but through Jesus Christ our savior we can have a pure heart, we can love deeply, we can allow him to move when we are weak!I told them Doing good isn’t good enough that doesn’t make you a Christian and it will not get you in to heaven. The only way is through acceptance of the blood of Jesus Christ!  Accepting Christ as our savior will start it all and it’ll be hard but it will be worth it all!

I ended up having two come to know Christ as their savior that week and I baptized them last week at service and it was awesome! No matter what the world says and no matter the label they put on you, know this… God knows your heart and He will always put you where you need to be as long as you believe in Him and stay available for his works!!

Where is your heart? God knows..
