YHC borrowed this format from a training plan Buidan and I are doing called Heavy Drop Training, look it up. It’s our first week but so far it’s been a good one. I’m sore everywhere that work has been applied and I ran my fastest 5 miler and 5k inside of that.

Prayer Request-SA’s family, T-Square’s family, Stogie’s father, JK2’s family

Moleskin:

To be a nasty day it ended up being a great workout. Other than the burpees there was very little cardio burn but it doesn’t have to be to be a good workout. I wore out the muscle groups we focused on. For some reason this workout was full of that’s what she said comments.

Vern’s 5k

You couldn’t have asked for better weather in February than what we had at the premier afternoon JV AO yesterday. There were a total of 14 PAX present, including an appearance by the infamous Ash Pond. Good to see you back out brother! After a disclaimer and warmup we got to work.

Modified VERN

This routine is supposed to include pull ups, but due to the amount of children on the playground and some certain PAX who are banned from close proximity to those underage, we had to modify. It went like this:

10 Hip Slappers IC

Run a lap around the lot (a little over 200 yds.)

20 Dips

Run a lap

25 Merkins

Run a lap

30 LBC’s

Run a lap

Repeat x5

This is a great you vs. you routine and the PAX were really pushing it.

The goal was to get in at least a 5k and at this point we were a little under 2.5 miles, so let’s mosey. We stopped along the way for some Big Boys, Squats, Pretzel Crunches, Mtn. Climbers, American Hammers and Jump Squats and ended up back at the flag with the goal reached.

The Principle of Little and Much

Luke 16:10 – “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”

This teaching applies to all areas of our lives. God tests us with the little things that he gives us and the more faithful we are in doing them, the more blessings we will receive. Don’t get distracted from the importance of doing God’s will and never assume that anything from God is unimportant or trivial.

PAX on IR

YHC took us out.

The weather was awesome and so was the fellowship.  Ash Pond was back out after some time on the IR, Cougar and Pinky are making it out here more often and even SA made a rare afternoon appearance. We joke about Midoriyama being JV, but these guys get after it and if you’ve never been you should give it a try.

I’m Broke

It’s groundhog day or the second day of the second month or 2/2. I think 22 is a good theme.

Cold and breezy. Little sun still up. Everybody’s sitting in cars trying to stay warm.

PAX start making their way to the circle. Nice crowd for a Tuesday evening.

Rumors were swirling about a certain Q’s weak sauce wimpy workout earlier today.

530 pm. Time to clock in.
All home folks, no disclaimer. Everything is a suggestion and don’t care if you do them or not. You vs you. No form police present.

Remembering my VQ four years ago. Freight, Def Leppard, Slaw, and Pockets attended and were here tonight. Billy Madison, Edison, Swimmer and Chum weren’t.

Prayer requests: Mayor’s dad, Vanilla Ice’s parents, Tater Hole’s son, Blart’s M, Sister Act, others.

I do believe that asses were kicked. Hard. YHC’s anyway.

Thanks for showing up to my Q guys,

Oompa Loompa.

Ain’t no Pusses here!!

11 of us here on a nice evening workout. As the JV group rolls in I began getting the bricks ready. My longtime friend Edison likes brick work; so that’s what I planned. But I underestimated the difference between the red bricks and the gray bricks. I think next time I may get the red bricks LOL.
Let’s warm up!
Warmup 2 rounds in cadence. everyone grab a brick.

20 x Overhead Presses.

20 x Step Ups 10 each leg

20 x Derkins

20 x Dips with bricks on lap

30 x Seal Jacks

30 x Mnt Climbers

30 x Nolan Ryan’s with bricks

Mosey with bricks across the parking lot stopping at trail head and perform an  exercise then run trail. Repeat.

Mosey back to the start.

I decided to do this workout in appreciation for my friend Edison. He is the one who brought me to F3. I also did some exercises in appreciation for a few of our past Nantans. I would like to thank all you guys for coming to each workout in effort to try to better yourselves in all aspects of your life.

SYITG,

Pockets.

Back at it! Finally

After back problems, COVID, and all the after effects I finally made it back out to Midoriyama!!!  Really couldnt decide what to do with this Q. I thought about playing some Ultimate Frisbee (a Midoriyama favorite) but couldnt find my disc. I decided I would just go with the flow and kinda wing it.

Warm up:

SSHx10ic

Don Qx10ic (No scratch that here come Leppard in late lets great him w/ Monkey Humpers)

Low Slow Squats x 10 oyo

Mosey for a bit, then to the small field.

At this point someone asked about playing Ultimate and I told them how I had thought about it but didnt have my frisbee. Gold Digger then said he had one in the car!

We did some walking High Knees while GD ran back to get the disc.

Split up into 2 teams and then of course Def Leppards team won.

Mosey back

COT

It was really great to be back. I definitely felt like total S@!t physically but just being with all the guys and having some fun playing Ultimate made it well worth the pain. Being stuck at home, unable to do much really had me down. It made me realize how much F3 really does for me.

Things that make you go hrrmmm

14 decided to push the rock on Tuesday evening at the premier evening, and some might say period, AO.

Warmup:

Seal jacks x 20ic

LBC x 15ic

Low slow squat x 10ic

Let’s mosey!

The Thang:

Over to the loooonnngggg parking lot we setup for something I’d been thinking about. If you did suicides on the parking space lines how long would it take and how far would you run? As explained these are the things that keep me up at night. Not really I sleep like a baby but I do think of random things like this. The more you are in F3 and working out the more you think of things like this. Luckily I’m not as bad as Shortsale and try to figure out how to combine 12 exercises in to one! Any way I am merciful and decided to break it up some. We started by doing 1/3 of the lot and that got us around a mile I think. We then paused to get in some reps.

5 burpees, 10 Bobby Hurley’s(an unnamed PAX appeared to be doing Serge Swikkers instead), 15 Wide Arm Merkins, 20 lunges, 25 Freddy Mercury’s

Back to the suicides. So we picked up where we left off and did the next 1/3. This put us over 2 miles. Then we paused for some reps.

Partner up for some Dora 123. PAX 1 does the reps while PAX 2 does 15 WWI’s. Flip/Flop you know how it works.  100 merkins, 200 monkey humpers, 300 mtn climbers.

Back to the suicides. Let’s finish the last 1/3. The cides were getting pretty long at this point! I guess we should’ve run faster or done less reps because we didn’t have time to finish. Not even close! I think we still had 8-10 more lines to go. We finished with 3.3 miles so I’m guessing it will end up being over 4 miles. I guess we will have to try another day with less reps in between. Maybe in the summer(he says followed by an evil laugh).

Turn Over A New Leaf

7 Pax started the workout with one showing up later. 1 needed to run so Oompa took off wearing a Pink Floyd T shirt and some colorfully striped leggings that would have made Purple Haze jealous. Pockets showed up straight from working wearing steel-toed boots and still put in the work. I told the Pax there would be real options in this workout unlike when Freight says choose option A or B and then he does what he was going to do anyway. They were dubious about the options.

Warmup: SSH x 10, Cotton Pickers x 10, Hillbillies x 10, CDD’s x 10. Pledge.

Grab a block and slow mosey to the bottom of the Field #4 parking lot. The size of these blocks may not have been as large as some blocks, but I weighed one and it weighed 24 lbs. which is pretty good. I’m sure Rudolph would insist on 32 lbs. but we made them work. I’m sure Seuss will be upset that he missed this one.

The Thang: In seven parking spaces there was a very fancy creatively designed paper leaf with a “Block Option” written on one side and an ab exercise (without the block) on the other. It was their choice to make. After each “Block Option” you would have to rifle carry your block one lap around the parking lot and return to the next parking spot to choose your options. If you chose the ab exercise option, you then needed to run (without the block) the lap around the parking lot. It appeared as if most were alternating the “Block Option” with the Ab exercise option. The fancy paper leaves were labeled something like this:
30 Block Curls or 30 Flutter Kicks
30 Block Chest Presses or 30 Squats
30 Block Overhead Presses or 30 LBC’s
30 Block Swings or 30 WWII’s
30 Block Alpo’s or 30 WWI’s
30 Block Curls or 30 Flutter Kicks
30 Block Chest Presses or 30 Squats.
The rifle carry after the “Block Option” was tough. Most got through about a round and a half. Somewhere very near the end of this Montross showed up in an effort to receive full credit for a post but that is up to Watts Up to make the call. Some chatter about Freight’s love handles, Slaw’s toboggan size, Montross’s tights. Lil Sweet had a great story about them slinging Ash Pond up into the air about 20 feet with a bed sheet and when he landed the sheet split and he got hurt. Good times. Get your block and mosey back to the flag.
The point of the paper leaves was from a frequently used phrase around this time of year “turning over a new leaf”. When we each think of a resolution or a change we need to make, most of us immediately think of a specific area or habit we need to improve. I told the guys to make an effort to turn over a new leaf in that area or habit and make a solid effort to get better. It is usually up to us to make the change.

Announcements: Not much.

Prayer Requests: Lil Sweet and Slaw’s cousin, Gold Digger’s M and new baby and new grandson for Broke, our country and it’s leaders.
Freight took us out.

The Climb

7 on a Tuesday at Midoriyama is a little light. Where was everyone? Skeered? Cold? Who knows but the men that showed came to do work!

Warmup:

Seal Jacks x 10 ic

Let’s mosey to one of the long parking lots.

The Thang:

Slaw’s WOD-Do the exercise and run a lap in between each one. The number is his age.

Lunge

American Hammers

Wide arm merkin

One legged burpee

We took the long way back to the flag and called it a day.

Prayer Request-The new baby on the way(it’s here now), Those that are sick.

Def took us out

Moleskin:

I chose the Slaw Wod to honor Slaw a little. He suffered through a bit of leftover Navy injury a while back and it put him down in the valley. If you don’t know about the valley you’ve obviously not had to endure the Def Leppard ups and downs workout. We all go through ups and downs or peaks and valleys in life. I repeat we ALL go through them. It’s not just you. So Slaw was on the peak a while back, running faster than I’ve ever seen him. He wasn’t just flipping bats he was juggling them as he passed by people. Then this injury kicked him in the back and rolled him  hard down the other side of the Mtn. He spent his time in the valley but he’s making a  come back. I’ve noticed he’s posting almost everyday again and he’s getting his wind back. He’ll be juggling by me in no time. The point is we all get knocked down and the road back is never easy but we can get back up the hill again. It’s hard but it’s a lot easier when you have people to push and pull you on the way. So shout out to OL’ Slaw  for not only making the climb but showing the rest of us it can be done!
