6 non hunters and recycled wisdom

Got the invite to Q at Folsom from Huckleberry last week, and I knew there was only one answer to that question. The forecast was rain, but that did not stop 6 NONHUNTERS from breaking out of the fartsack. There was some chatter about the usual suspects possibly posting more often after hunting season but showing the same pictures and no meat to show their hunting efforts. Keep EHing them and get them out here.

WU: 10 IC:SSH, Squats, Merkins, Imp Walkers then 10 burpees OYO.

The Thang:

Mosey to the turd shack (for some of my favorites) for some work under the shelter of the turd shack. Hip Slappers IC X 10 then 15 then 10 with short mosey across the parking lot btwn rounds. Stay under cover and divide into 3 groups of 2 with partner 1 doing flutter kicks while partner 2 lunge walks across the parking lot then mosey back. Flapjack, rinse and repeat for 2 sets each. Think we did some more Burpees here, not sure.

Outside in the rain for a version of Red Barchetta (still hate the group and the song in case anyone wondering). 100 yard dash, 100 SSH, mosey back to start. 75ish yard dash, 75 mountain climbers, mosey back to start. 50 yard dash with 50 squats, mosey back to start. 25 yard dash, 25 merkins, mosey back to start. 10 yard dash, 10 burpees, mosey back. Between sets we discussed recent info shared by Dredd at CSAUP (Fatigue makes cowards of us all, It all starts with love, and Ask, Listen, Recall). This recycled wisdom is applicable even at 530am in the rain.

We moseyed under the shelter to picnic tables and did some dips then closed things out with COT out of the rain before moseying back to start for pledge in the rain (thanks Gomer).

Great group of guys here in Folsom. Huckleberry doing great job leading from the front, Gomer with the endless energy, Snowman/Medicine Woman/Shingle providing the horsepower to push that rock. Keep it up guys.

Gashouse Convergence in support of Operation Sweet Tooth

The year 2016 has been spectacular for Gastonia F3.  The PAX have been pushing the rock and expanding our footprint to impact men and our community.  The launch and growth of Midoriyama, Folsom, and the Fighting Yank have meant more choices for first F opportunities.  The F3 Nomads has helped men experience other AO’s and form friendships outside our region.  The training, preparation, and completion of our first ever Blue Ridge Relay team has formed tighter bonds between men.  The combination of all three F’s in events has been a signature of the Gashouse’s short existence as evidenced by the Backwoods Brawl and the recent epic #CSAUP “The Climb” at Crowder’s Mountain.  Dr. Feelgood pulled that one off during trying times and we are grateful for his dedication to make it happen.  Getting Dredd and CSPAN to speak on Veteran’s Day was a real treat.  Many men were ready to charge the hill and take no prisoners.  What a great event!  If we can repeat that next year I expect at least double the numbers.

The Gashouse has a lot to be thankful for.  One of the blessings of living third is impacting others through leadership at home, at work, and in our community.  It is to that end that I announce the December convergence at the Schiele on December 17th in honor of Operation Sweet Tooth.

Last Christmas, F3 Gastonia sponsored a family at Jobu’s recommendation and the generosity was overwhelming.  This year, in that same spirit, Gastonia F3 is going to partner with Operation Sweet Tooth in support of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Gaston.  http://www.bgcgreatergaston.org/

Why Operation Sweet Tooth you ask?

Earlier this year, F3 Olive lost his 8 year old daughter Christina Marie Latini unexpectedly.  There were many prayers lifted for Olive and his family in COT’s and backblasts during this time.  As a testament to his family’s faith and resolve, Olive is using the tragedy for good by creating a 501(c) 3 organization in honor of Christina.

“To honor her memory, the mission of Operation Sweet Tooth is to keep her spirit alive by providing hope and joy to children who may be sick, less fortunate, homeless, or just need to have their spirits lifted. The goal is to provide toys, gifts and items of need through various fundraising efforts in hope that we can have of positive impact and experience on their lives.”

Thanks

7 showed at Folsom to burn so they could earn the morning of Thanksgiving. YHC had made some great cheesecake so I was serious about making room for a little extra! I came in a little hot as I’m not used to the morning post and didn’t quite have my commute time down pat. Traffic in Dallas can be crazy that time of the morning. Disappointed we still didn’t have any takers on the Ghost Flag we got started.

Prayer Request- PAX, Youth

Moleskin: Without getting all over the be thankful thing I am and told the PAX that posted how much I appreciate each one of you for pushing me and being there at each post. I constantly have to fight the inner fatboy/sadclown and do not have the fortitude of Dolph to regularly hit the gym or Pizza Man to run 18 miles by myself. So Thanks to you all!

Nothing really planned

Had a pretty good turnout in the Folsom gloom for a Tuesday beat down. It’s only about 29 degrees, I’m guessing that’s the reason for all the farsacking going on. I really dropped the ball on preparation, but at Folsom, it’s easy to wing it. 5:30 hits, so let’s do it!

mosey to the horse arena. Box jump up the 5 levels for 5 burpees, back down for 15 dips IC, followed by 15 squats IC, and LBCs x 15 YHC IC. Rinse and repeat x4. Then a good long mosey the long way towards the amphitheater. Find a spot on he wall for 20 donkey kicks OYO, 20 rocky balboas OYO, then I was kinda pondering another exercise when Hank said burpee. Welp, follow the balboas with 20 burpees OYO. Mumble chatter pretty heavy, but I still had one more exercise to add, yes, crunch position leg extensions x 20 Iac on YHC count. Rinse repeat 4 times. I check our distance and we’re short of 2 miles by 4 tenths and time is getting slim, so let’s mosey around the lower parking lot the long way back up to the flag. My watch says 1.9 miles. I’ll go with 2 just cause I want to hit that mark every time I Q.

A Little Bit of 4 Corners

to start off with, I have to apologize that I never got the BB posted from Oct. 27. Honest overlook, and I can’t find my Weinke. Sorry Folsom guys, it won’t happen again.

Looks like 4 loyal PAX decided to relieve themselves of the fartsack to face the gloom with brisk cold air and an overwhelming dose of wild fire smoke lingering around the AO area. It’s a reminder of just how bad our friends in the foothills are struggling with this terrible situation. Praying for a fast containment! Ok, somebody is rolling in hot, not just hot, smokin. And it’s Gomer……after almost taking out several pear trees and the monkey bars, he exits his vehicle in like fashion prior to a complete stop with shorts and boots. Man, what a spectacular entry, ok it’s 5:30, get to business.

Thang

Long mosey down around the lower parking and back up the hill to arrive at the tennis courts. Line up for Burpee Dans, lung walk 4 steps followed by 1 burpee the entire length of the 6 courts. Mumble chatter around the 3rd court, I looked over at Dolph and he reminded me of how stupid this was going to be  and immediately my thighs called Omaha, so we hit half the distance then turn around to lunge walk 4 steps followed by 2 burpees to original start point. PAX were grateful YHC changed the play, including myself. Now for some four corners. Mosey straights, at corner one 10 burpees, mosey back to start, mosey through corner 1 to 2 for 10 burpee, 20 merkins, back to start, mosey through to corner 3 for 10 burpees, 20 merkins, 30 squats. Back around to start, mosey through to final corner which is starting point for 10 burpees, 20 merkins, 30 squats, 40 lbcs. Looked easier on paper, but the PAX pushed through. Time left, so let’s do suicides. Widths of each court, we stop for a burpee at each stop. Let’s mosey it out with a good final lap around the emotive court area.

Prayers lifted for PAX to be leaders and prayers for our Nation and it’s leaders.

great work men! It really doesn’t get easier. Thanks for the opportunity to Q this group of guys!

Little less running, lot more lifting

YHC rolled in hot to 8 men standing in the gloom. After unloading the coupons in the lower lot, we jumped right into the warmup

SSH x10 IC, Mericans x 10 IC, Squats x 10 IC, CDD’s x 10 IC, Windmills x 10 IC, Toysoldiers x 10 IC. The Pledge. Mosey to the lower parking lot. Gomer was notified that the first man to bottom of the hill has to flip the tire back up the hill.

The Thang;
3 sets of hill sprints 30yds, top of hill 5 burpees.
Mosey to bottom of parking lot where there was a Kettle bell in one corner and a training sand bag in the other, and yes the tire was at the top of parking lot, approx 50 yds away.
Round 1; Sandbag clean and press x 10, run to kettle bell for 10 curls, run to tire for 5 flips. One man start at sandbag while the Pax perform flutter kicks, once man 1 finishes at sandbag man 2 starts and so on. Pax perform flutter kicks till last man starts. That was a lot of flutter kicks medicine woman. Round 2 starts at sandbag with Merican pulls x 10, Kettle bell swing x 10, 5 tire flips; Pax performing Russian twists. Round 3 sand bag shoulder throws x 10, Kettle bell snatch x 5 each side (muble chatter), 5 tire flips. Mosey over to wall at picnic shelter for 10 donkey kicks IC and 10 Hip slappers IC. Mosey back to COT at upper parking lot.

Moleskin;
Hill sprints definitely got the blood flowing, Huckleberry with false start and won the first set. Next was the heavy lifting which got the mumble chatter going and kept it coming. I think the sandbag weighed as much as Gomer. It doesn’t get any easier you just get stronger. AYE! Nice work men. The ab excercises were a bit lenghtly but good. We busted a sandbag but nothing a little duct tape can’t handle. Thought this would be a good mix up and the Pax seem to enjoy it as well. #DRP

COT; Namorama, Announcements (Hank mentioned a wood spliting work out at his place, he will provide the wood) Prayer requests.

BOM; Thanks Sparky for taking us out. Nice job men.

30 Love

5 men showed up for the Saturday morning beatdown after some texts from Sparky and Roadie Friday to challenge us to deny the fartsack and take the DRP. YHC had to come up with something to get the mumble chatter going and give’em what they came for.

Warmarama:  SSH, Windmills, and Cherrypickers all x15 IC.

Thang: Grab a block and mosey to the tennis courts for the fun. Starting at the first court, shoulder presses X30 mosey to next court for 30 lbc’s repeat this to the end alternating between the two exercises at each court. Mosey the long way back with blocks to the start for the next set.  Repeat this sequence with squats and flutterkicks.  Curls and big boy situps, then lunge and rosalita, and finally french curls and freddie mercurys. With time running out we head back to put the blocks up and say the pledge.

Announcement’s, prayer request and some inspiring words from the pax, YHC took us out. Awesome work today men, it was an honor to lead today.
