Bandit and I saw each other climbing Crowders Mountain a few weeks ago,and I politely requested to get back on the @F3Gastonia schedule.
Conditions were horrible… rainy, cold, and 40 degrees…and transitioned to raining sideways for part of this #downpainment #awful
Disclaimer was disclaimed
Discussion on how well @F3Gastonia has “exploded” since March
#Chatter about Swiper, Gunny, Package, & Chaser and all of the going on with @F3theFort
And off we went at a mosey + (maybe too fast) pace to the track next door
2.5 laps on the track
COP to warm up with all of my favorites to 10 in cadence
Plank-O-Rama to warm up everything else
Today’s workout was almost an exact replica of my Q 6 months ago (@F3Gastonia struggled then, there was no @F3Gastonia struggling today except Shrimp, and that was only because the restroom was locked #pregame #youngmanproblems)
Quick discussion on plan for today:
Using the 4 corners of the track, and the count of 25 in each corner for a total of 100 exercises
- SSH
- Calf raises
- Squats
- CDD (we did the run backwards to make it worse)
- Flutter (your welcome…you were already wet)
- LBC
- And because everyone knew it was supposed to be awful we finished with burpees
Mosey at “fast” pace to COT
Prayer or Praise
BOM
Naked Man Moleskin
Excellent #chatter throughout workout
Really cool to see the Larry Birds circle back and pick up the 6 and get some extra pain stations in, obviously the counts were much higher for that group of #HIM
#Coffeteria is outstanding and has great attendance
The weather stunk…appreciate the men who showed up
2ndF is spot on @F3Gastonia
Continue to seek out a 3rdF Q from your PAX
Lots of discussion today about what F3 has meant to me and why we do what we do…hope you enjoyed the sermon
Seek out an accountability partner, as it is much easier to “slide” when no one is watching #ISI
Bandit has already booked me a slot in May…I love that #HIM
Be a better man today than you were yesterday, sorry for the delay in the back blast #LIFEproblems
AYE!

13 PAX showed up to put in some work at #TheStorm early this morning. The PAX thought we had 2 FNG’s, but soon realized that was not so. JoBu returned after going missing (training/running a marathon) and Godfather was sporting a new buzz cut that made him look eerily like Private Pyle from Full Metal Jacket. After everyone figured the above out it was time to begin.

Seven faithful PAX showed up in the Gloom at the museum and we got right to it.
Warm Up:
SSH x 25
Merkin x 20
Moroccan Night Club x 25
Grass Pickers x 10 (don’t explain these to Whoopee)
Mosey to Flag for the Pledge
Yesterday Outhouse took the Downtown group for a tour of Main Street and Franklin. Today we decided to explore East Garrison. We ran to Grier Jr. High for a set of Derkins x 10, then crossed the road to church.
A quick idea came to mind to get wet so we hit our six for a quick set of LBC’s IC x 20. Then to the parking lot and stairs for Dora 1,2,3. We partnered up for 150 Merkins, 200 LBC’s, and 100 Prayer Squats while running the steps. The Prayer Squats were only 100 to save our legs for later.
Knowing there was a Mid-High lock-in, Dr. Feelgood suggested going into the fellowship hall to wake the sleeping kids and perform some exercise. Instead of testing the GasHouse 911 emergency response system, YHC decided a set of 10 Monkey Humpers outside the windows of the fellowship hall. This proved to be sufficiently risqué while also showcasing the importance of exercise. We quickly ran away through the woods (and heard a big deer snorting, warning us not to go too deep in the woods) to the Sherwood Elementary School track. One lap around the track and we stopped at the bottom of the Hill. All this and it was only 0730 hours.
The Thang: Descending sets of Merkins followed by hill sprints to the top. We started with 10 Merkins IC. What would normally be “1,2,3, HALT” was changed to “1,2,3,Take the Hill!!! Charge!!!, and other inspiring messages. A quick sprint to the top and mosey back down, 9 Merkins, Hill sprint, 8 Merkins, Hill Sprint, 7 Merkins, Hill sprint and then a “rest” lap around the track. We got back in position for 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. I heard some positive comments from the other side of the PAX that perhaps Squeaker was using this exercise time for quiet personal reflection, perhaps about what he ate the night before.
We then partnered up again for the track. One person would lunge walk and his partner would long jump behind until the first partner would call for a switch. After some grumbling it became apparent the lunges were perhaps easier than the long jumps. A little more than half a lap and then back to the hill for a set of 5 burpees and then a final hill charge.
Next it was run to the opposite end of the track to jump the fence and escape elementary school. YHC’s foot fell into a rusted and eroded drain pipe but luckily no damage. Instead of jumping the fence, Dr. Feelgood opened the gate and we walked through and began a neighborhood tour with Stroganoff taking the group on a tour of his old homestead on the way to the Library. We got the library for a round of ring around the tree. The PAX assumed the Merkin position on a curb and began to shuffle counterclockwise and then clockwise, followed by yet another set of Merkins.
Time was running low so we went back to the museum. (Brown Streak totaled us at 2.75 miles of running)
We circled up for something called the Piston. The PAX counted off and the odd members were going to squat on one and the evens would be up. When we started it was completely out of control and we had to stop and start over. I was called “Odd” by Stroganoff. Sticks and stones….
We had some members of the public at the Museum by now looking at this spectacle that someone claimed looked like the Oompa Loompas. In any event, the church bells didn’t seem to be ringing so we squatted, squat hold, and catcher’s pose for about three minutes until YHC called time.
We finished with Name-o-rama and prayed for our Mud Runner’s, finishing with the COT. Thanks for the PAX that came out today and thanks for the effort! It is always a pleasure to lead and be a part of F3 Nation.
Brown Streak totaled us at 2.75 miles of running
11 PAX showed up for one of BA’s non running workouts. The PAX were surprised when it was announced there would be no cinder blocks used in today’s workout. The PAX were also pleased to learn some of the workout would be done in the weight room with the garage door 1/2 way up due to BA not enjoying the chilly morning.

9 PAXclimbed out of the comfy warm bed to battle the bitter cool air. They showed up slowly 1…….then 2………. 3,4,……. I was starting to feel bad thinking it was me. NAH! It has to be the weather…… Right?!?!? Anyway here’s what went down.
Mosey to the church……. No the other way, across from the school. There you go…. Mosey to lower parking lot…… It was the breakfast we smelt cooking that attracted us there. I told the 9 strong but cold pax “ok that was the warm up!” They looked surprised. I then repeated the math problem I posted on Twitter as my pre blast. 100-1= …. Surprisingly we have some math majors. That’s right! The 99 workout!!!! I could type it all out for you to read but it’s best as a hands on workout. So…. Look it up or scroll down to earlier in the year. We did it at the goat once before. After the workout we played “chutes and ladders.” Ok, well it was like it but not….. We moseyed up the zig zag parking lot doing burpees at each turn 15 in total. Then once at top of parking lot sprint down to the beginning. 10 mins left. We slow mosey back to museum for 5 min of Mary!
At the end of the hour the 8 strong men and I did this:
484-lbc’s
131-burpees
319-high knees
165-ssh
165-lunges
308sec- air squats
351sec- planking
Thanks for allowing me to be apart! Strong work guys!
10 brave souls gathered in the early morning gloom unsure of what was coming. Right turn? Left turn? Forrest Gump? Wolfpack Grinder? No burpees (after Friday it should have been a burpee free zone)

Mosey to Lineberger Park Flag Circle for Station 3 – Partner up for 1 – 2 – 3
Combined with partner: 100 Merkins, 200 Mountain Climbers, 300 Flutter Kicks

Flutter Kicks X 20
Mosey back to Flag Circle for Station 5 – Ring of Fire
5 Merkins followed by 10 LBC’s
Mosey back to the Church for Station 6 (Hozier – Take me to Church)
Stroganoff’s attempt at planking was disturbed by Whoopee’s personal space rule breaking. Stroganoff could only look away.
Station 6 (IC)
Merkins X 12 (Again, Whoopee pushed the limits with his awkward space issues causing the Q to stumble through the cadence – but he perservered)
Flutter Kicks X 25 (We think)
Monkey Humpers X 10
5 Burpees OYO (I know, this was supposed to be a burpee free day…..Dolph wore down the Q until he relented)
Mosey back to basecamp.
The Q suspects the group moseyed close to 2.5 miles…..just because Forrest felt like it.
Name-o-rama and prayer requests. Prayer pays dividends as a good report from Feelgood concerning Outhouse’s daughter (T-Claps) and continued prayers as T-Square continues the new career search.
Prayers and thanks go out to each one of you for the motivation you put forth for the Q today. I am grateful and honored to lead the group and hope the time was both well spent and somewhat difficult. It was time well spent for me.
Until next time…..Aye!!
Stroganoff
It is always great to Q at the greatest AO in F3 nation. 16 Men (including 1 FNG) enjoyed the cool air and the feel of concrete in their hands this morning. As advertised there wasn’t much running (1.5 miles), but there was an upper body beatdown. It was good to see the PAX encouraging and pushing each other throughout the workout. My goal was to have the PAX have trouble lifting their coffee cups later in the day.
WU:
All in cadence
- SSH x 25
- Merkins x 10
- LBC’s x 25
- Prayer Squats x 10

- Upright Row x 100/Run around the press box
Planking with right arm/right leg/left arm/left leg until PAX was done
In between each set we counted up and back…. at some points the counting got interesting and we thought we may have lost a guy, but all was good as we just realized our math is bad.
Mosey to BA’s truck to deposit the cinder blocks.

BA
So last night my wife says, how about stroganoff for dinner tonight? As the men of GasHouse should be aware, there is only one answer to that question. STROGANOFF IS ALWAYS WELCOME AT MY TABLE. However, it almost made me late this morning as it had some after effects this morning. Nonetheless, I made it with time to spare and quickly realized my pre blast the night before was not in vain. The weather was perfect for our plan-knowing rain was in the forecast, Bandit “suggested” a slip n slide. My pride rarely lets me back down from a challenge and although this was really not a challenge, it gave me a great excuse to relive my days as a kid with some great guys. Bandit provided the slide and Dr. Feelgood and I provided the slip, more on that below….
Here’s how it went down:
9 men who had nothing better to do crawled out of their cars into the gloom, exchanged stupid grins on their faces, and commented about this CSAUP thing we were doing including:
“My wife said she already got 4 warnings on her phone by 6 am to not drive in this weather.”
“My dog has more sense than I do at this point, he doesn’t even go out in the rain unless we force him.””
“I brought a complete change of clothes.”
“I brought my full body rain suit and have a spare. Anyone want one?”
“I bet we will have at least a dozen here this morning”
“I brought a huge roll of plastic, this is really gonna be fun…”
At around 7am things warmed up just a bit with our WU:
SSH, Merkins, Mountain Climbers, and Moroccan Night Club. We did various numbers of each with plans for a whole lot of night club dancing, but after 3 MNCs I was so excited about our plans I cut it short and we headed to the flag for the pledge.
POA
The Thang: Mosey to the field/track…spread out the slide (thanks Bandit): plastic from basically hash mark to hash mark on the football field (thanks coach, hope your grass is ok) then add slip: 2 bottles of Dawn dish soap (thanks Dr. Feelgood and wifey-sorry honey, not bringing any home like you asked. Some things are worth a verbal beat down and this qualifies EVERY time). Prior to the Thang, a couple guys tried out the slip n slide with a wheelbarrow followed by a chariot pull-not sure we had a name for the second part, but sounds good and left Goose and Bandit (father/son) with enough soap to last the entire workout-bubbles ran down both their legs until we were finished.
Then we bagan the Thang: Modified Murph: was it a Wurph, a Burph, or a slip n slurph, I don’t know. But we got to work on the acceleration part in the chilly rain then put some Dawn to good use. The Thang started with 2 cycles of 10 Burpees, 20 Merkins, and 30 Squats with a plan to repeat 2 cycles each lap. After a quick Omaha, we changed this to 1 set every half lap-mentally and physically easier to conquer. Again, running has become a break, something most of us would not have said 6months ago. This changed individually (internal Omaha) to do what you can including crawl around the lap and do whatever you can do of the above cycle. I think we did 5 laps which included potentially 100 Burpees, 200 Merkins, and 300 Squats. I lost track after 3 laps so who knows what I/we did.
At this point, I believe the men left and we were left with 9 boys with funny looks on their face like they just found out what their Justifier is used for. We each took turns on the slip n slide until all had enough. This was truly fun to watch and share this event with some guys that I just met 7 months ago but have grown to really love. Getting my butt out of bed at 6am on a Saturday morning to run in the cold rain then slide around on a soapy piece of plastic will be a highlight of 2015 for me and hopefully a few others. I saw a father and son share a unique experience, a beast wear a yellow gangsta’ rain suit, and a Mayor push himself to get in better shape with some guys he really doesn’t know that well but now shares a unique bond like something out of the movie “Stand By Me.”
Thanks for being there this morning for me, hope this BB did this morning some justice. Truthfully, if you weren’t there, you missed out.
Whoopee
