‘Crotch Crickets’, a tail by ‘Dickens

Seemed a show was in town, as I was approaching the chatter you could feel the intensity increasing.  A lot of HIM’s, glad I’m not running the show today.  Why; the Q would need to be strong, vibrant, maybe even in shape.  Possibly one that posts frequently.  And certainly not one who spent all last week sick.  I secretly excreted internal merlot realizing that I am the one stepping in the middle.  No worries, it’s like riding a bike, right?  We’ll see…….I call out 2 min’s til gametime, Nantan let’s me know it’s more like 30 seconds.  Off to a great start………………….

Warm Up:  SSH – 15 IC, Squats – 10 IC, LBC – 10 IC

Mosey to the first picnic shelter

Arrived, still alive.  Round of Lindsey’s or Forties.  30 dickens (oh man, did I really just say that?), I mean derkins.  Sort of putting the pedal to the floor on all that F3 guy loneliness thing.  At that point I had to chase half the group down as they were looking for Whoopee  begging him back for a repeat Q.  Okay guys, I meant Derkins.  Quickly forgiven, 30 Derkins and 10 dips.  Finished, mosey to the road and back.  Rinse and repeat increasing/decreasing by 5.

25 derkins / 15 dips:  Zombie walk to the road

20 derkins / 20 dips:  Bear walk (really?), bear crawl to the road and back.  Full disclosure, I was probably the only one who could not make it.  Finished by bear walking.

Modify:  10 derkins / 30 dips

Mosey to the Concession area:  It’s here I realized that I had nothing written down on the weinke that I did not even have!

Mosey back to the parking lot.   Mosey back to the concession stands.  I felt really bad for dissing the concessions, so we did a round modified Mary’s using imaginary coupons.

On your six, first exercise is Homer/Marge.  Wait, add stirrups to the lineup, we now have modified homer/marge, open crotch/feet in stirrups beginning position holding your six inches (um…….feet above ground).  I’m confused how I kept everybody with me as I reflect back.  So many, (10 I think) in cadence.  10 Big Boys oyo.

8 homer/marge open crotch/feet in stirrups in cadence  beginning position holding your six inches (um…….feet above ground) – 20 LBC’s oyo

8 homer/marge open crotch/feet in stirrups in cadence beginning position holding your six inches (um…….feet above ground) – 20 American Hammer’s oyo

Mosey to the parking lot.  Okay men, count off 1.2.1.2.  Good, okay 1, 2, 3…..wait wait.  Start again, 1,2,1,3…….what?  Flintstone corrected our ignorance, somehow we got to a 1 team and 2 team.  Even with 12 of us I think there were more 1’s than 2’s.  Anyway, group 1 hold a merkin plank, group 2 run around the island.  Swap and repeat.

Round 2, Group 1 holds an Al Gore and group 2 runs around the island.  Swap and repeat.

Round 3, Group 1 holds their 6 inches (um, feet above the ground) and group 2 runs, you get the routine.

Round 4, Group 1 holds a downward stirrup feet spread squat while levitating their butteth in the air, basically crab plank, group 2 runs and so forth and so on.

Nantan sounds off the 10 minute alarm…….

At the bottom of Martha’s parking lot we start a mosey back and forth for space ultimately culminating in at least four to five mosey and sprints at called distances.

Time nearing, one round of dora, partner 1 back to homer/marge and partner 2 runs, Rinse and Repeat one time.

I’ll meet you back at Martha’s.

Time for one round of LBC’s (I think)

It was quite intimidating walking up to the group today.  Though I’ve stayed active my posts are way down.  Same excuses, and it feels great to stay in bed.  Like Flintstone says, sleep is overrated.  Every time I post I would agree.  Today was special because my focus and concern was to be a HIM for those who came out to support me.  It was an overwhelming amount of appreciation I felt for this group of HIM’s.  Thank you for posting and the opportunity to Q.

Honored to lead, even if it was from behind.

Somebody’s Fuming but not Smoking

Quick immediate disclaimer, no fng’s.  Somebody’s pulling in last moment and trying to calculate the perfect parking spot.  But Watts Up will have nothing to do with this, time to roll if we’re going.  So, let’s go.

First stop is short one.  Out to Main St.  Find a partner.

Booyah Merkin Runs

Stop light to stop light, alternating routes.  Meet back with partner and count 10 Booyah merkins, working your way down.  We did this for a little bit.

Mosey to the parking garage.

Modified 4 corners on six levels?  All OYO….but we ran as a group

Ground Floor:  10 merkins

1st level:  Repeat and 20 squats

2nd level:  Repeats and 30 LBC’s

3rd level:  Repeatss and 40 flutters

4th level:  Repeatss only

5th level:  No repeatss, just 50 SSH

Mosey back down using the “You take the High Road and I’ll take the Low Road” approach.  Group 1 (which ironically did not include me) run back down and go to the stairs.  Group 2 will take the stairs and joyfully cheer you on.  Rinse and repeat only Group 2 now runs.  Carry this down to the bottom level.

Some aggressive competition going (well basically everybody was trying to catch Bob the Builder) so we kept it up.

Group Planks/Squats:

Group 1, A, whatever your called runs up one level and back down the stairs.  Group 2 or B or whatever we are holds plank.

Rinse and repeat using Squat or Al Gore position.

Rinse and repeat using/holding feet in 6″ off ground position.  Also ironic that Linus tried to switch groups avoiding the last run.  This was the first or 2nd or maybe 3rd Q fail of the morning.

We are already down to about less than 20 minutes left.

Take a mosey to the murky hill area right below the Masonic Temple (which I mis-pronounced so says Watts Up).  I slid my Weinke under a Bic lighter to prevent my Whoopee Resistant plastic covered Weinke from blowing away.  By the way, that area is way less murky in the daylight but the hill is a bit intimidating.  Partner up.

Merkin Bear Crawls:

Partner 1 does 10 merkins and can get up and run to catch partner 2 who is bear crawling.  All the way to the stoplight.  I think Slaw and company made it back to the pavilion and came back to help finish our rep.

Round 2:  Dips (best you can on a flat surface) and crab walk half the distance.  Somewhere in the process the HIM’s retrieved my weinke including the Bic lighter used to hold it in place.  I think as I type this there is somebody trying to light up fuming about their missing flame.  Doubt their internal anger is enough to light their stick, maybe an incentive to quit smoking?  But I doubt it.

Back across Franklin.  We’ve got about 3.5 minutes to spare.  Continue our last round with squats and lunges.  Roll back to the pavilion at exactly 6:15.

Beautiful morning, quiet Pax.  Many cars arrived right at start time, none of which were missing Pax.  Five of us total, 5:30 and time to go.

I need to stretch more than anyone in F3 but it’s never been my go to start.  A few ham and shoulder stretches to start, quick disclaimer and no pledge (got it at the end).

Jump to 4 corners:  repeat each as you move forward, rinse and repeat at corner 4.

1st corner:  10 merkins

2nd corner:  20 squats

3rd corner:  30 LBC

4th corner:  40 flutters

Round 2:

CDD’s, Bobby Hurley, Freddie Mercury, Mtn. climbers.  Rinse and repeat was modified on return

Round 3:

25’s of each and repeating each as moving forward.

Somewhere in the midst of our agony my Weinke is missing.  Spiderman decides to go in search and rescue mode.  Somewhere during this time I think he got lost reminiscing the hallways recalling his first school girl kiss.  He ultimately comes back feeling happy and smooth but no weinke.  As we carry on, Hermie picks up on Spider’s aesthetic aspirations and he too ventures to the hallways in search of my missing weinke.  Since the last visual I had of Hermie was him vomiting into the trash (spitting) and I noticed him gone I gave him a shout to see if he was in trouble!!!  Wide-Right who was to my left and had a Hermie optic delcared he was fine maybe a little too free of tension and anxiety as he too was reminiscing about his first school girl kiss while searching the halls for my weinke, yet he came back triumphant!  Seemingly there was a lot of incoming school traffic today and somebody picked up my weinke.  I think there was an agenda going on amongst the teachers regarding a widespread interest into what the ‘blank’ is a Freddie Mercury.  I’m guessing they gave up on trying to crack the code and decided to just leave it or give it back.   Or, it’s possible Hermie had to wrestle and grapple with a menopausal Librarian while clinging to her readers (she’s probably still panting from excitement); or maybe he was just sweating from the workout, only Hermie knows, but we had a few happy guys this morning.  Reckon I’m getting a little excited just typin…..

well, let’s move on:

Always Low Prices, Always….

It’s just me and Rollback today.  Rollback had to rollback his fitness level to keep down with me, but this was a great opportunity to bond with someone who is an F3 Pax one on one and while it’s the first time that you met.  He and Madoff post together occasionally at Lake Wylie.  Meanwhile all the Gashouse regulars were ankle deep in a Short Sale CSAUP known as Strides of March.  That’s cool, I’ll look for everybody back on 3/13.

Disclaimer:

Pledge:

I left Bandit to handle the Painlab.  Rollback and I headed out into the vast open aisles without our pricing guns.  Up to Grier parking lot for some Springtime Back to School savings.

The thang……

Partner Booyah run’s.  Pick a partner, easy enough.  Start about the middle of Grier parking lot we each run to the speed bumps at each end, meet back in the middle and partner social distance Booyah Merkins in ascending order.  Little mumblechatter here except I was kind of talking to myself some, mainly in my head.  We did this for a little while, think we climbed up to eight merkins.

Up to Parkwood Church to see what our CSAUP crew was up to.  I had a warm down planned for them but it was majority consent that during their rest, they would rest.  Rollback and I did some additional partner work while keeping great conversation with the CSAUP Pax.  Go ahead and choose your partner.  Once again, no issue.

Partner 1 mosey while partner 2 does 10 merkins and holds plank.  Rinse and repeat with squats (Al Gore), heels to sky (6″ hold) and Crab crunch (or something like that and hold reverse plank).  Rinse and repeated for a few more and moseyed further into the Parkwood lot.

On our own here we moseyed a distance and got a good feel for the route.  Next plan is to mosey out and sprint back.  Rinse and repeat three times.

Bye to the fellas, over to FPC.

You take the High Road and I’ll take the Low Road.  More partner work, think we have this handled by now.  Partner 1 runs long distance and Partner 2 goes the short distance, merkins and then can rest until partner 1 returns.  Rinse and repeat with squats and a few others.

Late stage of the morning by now, think it was getting close to head back to the Schiele.  Made it with a minute to spare, Rollback was concerned he did not see any Painlab Pax, figured he missed out on an early dismissal but they emerged from the back entrance and we were a group once again.  Fitbit says we got in three miles.

Flowing in like the Haze

The rain cleared just as we began.  Quick disclaimer and pledge.  No time for warm up, let’s roll.

Right out to Main St., barely even out of breath yet.  But what’s that in the far distance.  It’s moving slow but steady.  It’s coming upon us, is it the Gloom?  Close, but it’s Purple Haze rolling in hot and heavy, and groovy.  We got the Vibe as he strolled past.  I declare I think he was wearing some GSM threads.  Park your van Trippy, we’ll wait on Main St. for you.  Can you Dig it?

The Thang:

Main Street:

Partner Booyah’s.

Stop light to stop light run (each runs half), meet back and do a social distance Booyah Merkin with your parter counting up.  Do this for a little while.

Garage:

10 Merkins/10 Squats , alternate at each level, do this as we run to the top.

Rinse and repeat:

20 LBC/20 HomerMarge, alternate each level

30 Side Straddle Hop/30 Freddie Mercury , alternate each level, stopped about midway and headed for the top.

You take the High Road / I’ll take the Low Road

Count off 1/2.  1’s run down the ramps, 2’s down the stairs and jump squats while waiting on 1’s to reach them.  Alternate, rinse and repeat all the way down and all the way back up.

Back to the Street:

Had about enough time for group 1 to run a block down and back (EZ and Haze had to show off by heading to Franklin, most Pax were just happy enough touching the Butt (Light Pole)).  Group 2 holds plank.

Back to finish, one round around the Pavilion to complete 3 miles.

The Man

I’ve always felt like Downtown ranked high in the list of active HIM’s who attend.  Active Pax mean high intensity.  Today’s line-up was no different and I had my ‘how am I going to lead these guys from behind’ concern on.  It worked out great and we had a blast.

Disclaimer:  No burpees today boys and you can see I’m not a professional.

Pledge:

Side Straddle Hops until Purple Haze joins the crowd.  In Cadence, we stopped around 176 or so.  Mosey to the Garage.

The Thang:

In group, 5 merkins at the bottom of the garage.  Run loop up to the top and at each corresponding level add 5 merkins.  At the top do 30 SSH.  Mosey down the stairs.

Rinse and Repeat with Crab Crunches (20 this time and no increase).  SSH at top level and mosey back down the stairs.

Rinse and Repeat with Squats, 20 I think.  No increase each level and we are skipping SSH at the top.  Mosey down the steps.

Split into two groups.  Group 1 runs up to the top level of parking deck.  Group 2:  10 Carolina Dry Dock and hold Downward Dog for 10 seconds.  10 CDD, hold plank, etc. etc.  We were on our knees by the time Slaw’s group made it back but we quickly rose to plank position as they arrived.  I’ll bet they’ll never know.  Group 2 run, group 1 CDD’s……

Rinse and Repeat with Squats and Al Gores only going around one level and back down.

Off to the dark hill.

Partner Up.  Partner 1 does 5 merkins while Partner 2 bear crawls.  At end of merkins chase your partner down and swap.  Increase by 5 but only to 10 total.  Distance is to stop light.  Slaw and PH made it look easy.

Same thing, Crab walk and Crab toe touch, 6 (3 each leg) and catch your partner only going to first telephone pole.

Back to bottom.  30 SSH, plank position while JJ give 10 count.  Sprint to stop light.  I had to call JJ by cell phone to tell him to come back.  Dude is like a rocket.

Safely cross the street.  Same idea, squats (10) while partner lunge walks home.  EZ getting nervous with the time, mosey back with two minutes left, end up with one to spare.

Quick round of Mary resulted in flutters being called by about 10 count cadence.

Frequently Asked Questions (faq)

Arrived early and saw Hushpuppy coming across the finish line and already had in a mile.  We got in another 1/2 mile pre-post so I could get warmed up.  I was hoping I would be prepped enough to lead the Pax of HIM’s for a not so much beatdown but just a great workout.  Mumblechatter abound, Watts Up quickly reminded me it was 07:00.

Disclaimer/Pledge:

No warm up, who needs them.  Turns out I do, but such is.

Mosey to FPC church down back of parking lot.  Watch for the hidden ice spots.  Intent was to run some and exercise some.

The Thang:

No name:

25 Merkins/25 more Merkins – Up Pad steps, offer water to anyone thirsty from leftover trash in parking lot, back down hill watching for ice to where we started.

25 Crab Crunch (or something like that) / 25 more Crab Crunch / Up steps at The Pad, 25 more CC and hold in crab plank position for a hot minute.  Down hill and around to start.

50 squats / up steps to The Pad and 25 more.  Linus had a close bout with passing out.  I made it though, primarily cause I found out the Pax would drag me home instead of carry me.  I think they would actually finish the workout as well so I had motivation to stay puke and pass out free.  Down hill back to start.

50 calf raises (JJ gave up counting so he could mumblechat) / 25 merkins / 25 of those crab crunchie things / 25 squats.  Up steps, down steps…….back to start, done.

Modified 11’s:

Merkins / Dips, keep going in same circle.

Partner runs and holds:

Partner 1 runs a certain distance (I think it was a couple of miles) while partner 2 holds the following:

Plank / Al Gore / Crab Plank / 6″

Triple Nickel:

5 Flying Squirrels at each designated spot, keep running in circle pattern.  I called out modify to Pax as this was too much for me to handle.  Shout out to the Pax for keeping the same initial request.

Dora 1:

We have about 5 minutes.  Partner up, run a distance (about 3 miles), each Pax does 25 merkins.  Watts Up was actually looking for more.

Mosey home.  All questions answered, no referral to the FAQ section needed.

Rinse and Repeat, copyright/trademark violations?

With Gashouse being covered for so many weekends (thank you Pax) and trying to get back into the mix myself it had been a hot while since I had the Gashouse Q.  Many thanks to the entire bootcamp Pax patiently waiting on me to catch up to call each next round.  At the start we:

Pledge:

Warm Up:

SSH – 20 ic

Squats – 10 ic

Merkin – 10 ic

Rudolph with Painlab, Bootcamp up to FPC.  We stopped at the front of the church to get a head count (so I could recover) and headed over to The Pad.

Exercise starts, nothing I can say was an original creation of my own Weinke.  This entire workout was brought to you by Roscoe, Dirt and Tesla.

Perfect Forms:

Trying to bring form back into play after Pax were trying for time the week before we learned from Roscoe’s original Q.

Perfect Merkins:  20 oyo, mosey down hill and back

Perfect Squats:  20 oyo, mosey down hill and back

Perfect Big Boys:  25 oyo, mosey down hill and back

At top of hill once more we did 10, 15, and 20 each of (Perfect) Merkins, Squats and Big Boy’s.

Down hill to the picnic tables.

Perfect Dips:

20 (I think), oyo.  Recover for a hot minute or two:  15 more then mosey.

Moving up to the bottom of the church we took a page from Tesla’s book.

10 Hand Release Merkins (oyo).  Pax mosey to side of church.

10 Hand Release, 15 American Hammers (ic).

Mosey to top of church.

10 Hand Release, 15 A/H, 20 Scissor Lunge

Mosey to side of church.

10 Hand Release, 15 A/H, 20 Scissor Lunge, 25 Big Boys

For time we skipped the last round and just knocked out 30 SSH (oyo)

With about 15 minutes remaining we took a page from Dirt’s book.  Super 11’s or something like that, we moved in a large circle around the parking lot.  Starting point, 1 burpee, Ending point was 90 lbc’s.  Continuing around circle increase by one burpee and decrease by 10 lbc’s.  Took this to the end, mosey back to Schiele.  Linus has a morning meeting, much obliged to Rudolph who finished with some Mary and COT.

Mumblechatter was great.  Blart made it to the Gashouse.  Flintstone has become a regular (and has Q next weekend).  EZ made a special appearance and brought his 2.0 (Pickle Rick)  I am so thankful for college football so Defib, JJ and Short Sale have something to discuss while the six (me) keeps checking in.  Thanks guys for supporting the Gashouse.  Always an honor to lead from behind.

Linus

Gashouse Week 3 IPC

Week 3 of Gashouse Iron Pax Challenge, no coupons, no matter.  The bootcamp aspect wiped a lot of us out.  Time’s posted started in the mid 30’s.  All Pax worked extra hard.  What I have truly loved about Gashouse commitment to the IPC for the month of September is the Bootcamp and Painlab connection we’ve experienced with all of us working as one.  The running aspect needed to be modified for some, and other Painlab regulars worked on a great mosey.  All, and I mean all of us improved today.  Mumblechatter was great.  This gives me great ideas moving forward on combining a workout (maybe once a month) with Painlab, I’ll get with Tube on that.

Great credit to Linus for confusing COT location, hoping all is accounted for in this blast.  Truly enjoyed Saturday experience.

Pledge:

Mosey however you like to Grier field.  Slight warm up.

SSH, Merkin and Squats:  Why not?  Plenty more coming
