Better Late Than Not at All. Courage and Adam Lambart.

Didn’t want to get out of bed this morning. It’s cold, I’m tired, My foot is still killing me every time I run, It’s been a long, long, long week and I just don’t want to do this today. That’s all the excuses I came up with as to why I wasn’t going to run this morning. I have the Q and I’m leading the Q Source today that’s why I’m even contemplating going. “But surely someone will take over for you given the week you’re having “ a little voice just keeps saying. I finally tuned out that noise and got my butt out of bed up to Ingles. Better late than never I guess. Everyone has been long gone and I’m fidgeting with my phone and earbuds and notice a PAX heading through the parking lot. It’s like he was there just to pick me up. So I picked up with him ran/walked to the college and back just in time to be late for the COT. I got an earful from Mayor about hurrying up to get to Q Source. He’s right so we finished up outside just in time to wait @ 30 min. for erbody to get coffee. We then had a great discussion about Adam Lambert and how we think he was once on American Idol and he may even be the Leadman for Queen now IDK. Once everyone settled in we had a great conversation about Courage, what it means and what all it takes to be courageous. It didn’t take a lot convincing myself that I needed to be out here with my Brothers today but it did take a lot to actually do it. There’s a lot of power and love in this group and I am grateful for being able to participate in it. Thanks for the love and support you all have given me these last few years and especially the last few weeks.

March Madness – A Q vs. Q Tournament

Who is the best Q in the region?

There are a lot of PAX who have been in the conversation, but let’s settle it in the Gloom this year.

8 Q’s will enter the tournament, but only 1 will be left standing at the end.  The Q vs. Q Beatdowns will take place over the month of March (and April), starting with The Goat on March 2nd and ending at Folsom on April 1st.  The schedule will be as follows:

1st Round:

  • 3/2 – The Goat
  • 3/4 – Old School
  • 3/9 – Midoriyama
  • 3/11 – Gashouse

Semifinals:

  • 3/17 – Downtown
  • 3/18 – The Fighting Yank

Finals:

  • 4/1 – Folsom

Q’s will be PAX nominated using this form, by listing the top 5 Q choices in order.  Nominations will be taken through Saturday, 2/18, so please consider who you want to see in the tournament and nominate them.  Each PAX may only fill out the nomination form one time (obviously).

Qs will be selected and seeded based on the nominations, and the first seed will get his first choice of AO to Q.  Next up will be the second seed, and so on until all Qs are chosen (we will try to work out scheduling conflicts, but if we can’t we may have to make some changes or go to an alternate Q).

The Beatdowns will be simple.  One Q is in charge for the first half (including disclaimer and warm ups), the other Q is in charge for the second half (including Mary).  When time is called (40 total minutes, 20 each, for weekday beatdowns; 60 total minutes, 30 each, for Saturdays), we will vote, by pen and paper on note cards, and the results will be revealed (If there is an even number of PAX, YHC will abstain from voting to ensure there are no ties).  The winner advances.  And as history is told from the winner’s perspective, the winner is also responsible for COT and the backblast.

After round 1, we will reseed based on who had the most votes in their wins and do the semifinals the same way.  Reseed also for the finals.  The top seed will also get to pick whether they start or end the workout.

What makes a great Q?  Sweat lost?  Muscle gained?  Miles run?  Hills climbed?  Coupons used?  Creativity?  Big words?  White Claws?  I guess that’ll be up to the PAX.  We will find out soon enough.

Choose wisely with your nominations.  And as much as I’d like to get in on this, leave me off the nomination list.  I am ineligible, for obvious reasons (I’ve got to run the thing.)

Itching to get started.  Fire away with questions.

Nominations are due by Saturday, 2/18.  May the best Q win.

Gastone

Gastone sighting this am. Apparently as we pass in front of his house, his alarm notifies him there is someone near his front door. This is useful knowledge for future Tuesday mornings when I feel the need to do SSH in his front yard with several of my closest friends.

This morning we ran or rucked and had a not-so-bad time. It was not terrible.

We did do the pledge and had a COT because that is what Flintstone wants us to do, and it’s the right thing, but mostly because Flintstone wants us to do it that way….

10th F3 Anniversary Q at The Storm

My first post with F3 was on a frost covered Saturday morning with the MeCa pax in North Charlotte.  MeCa stands for Mecklenburg/ Cabarrus as it was planted to grow away from Lake Norman and Metro.  The Highland Creek neighborhood is where it all began and today has expanded through Harrisburg, Concord to Kannapolis China Grove, Mint Hill and more.  Definitely worth a clown car trip sometime.  I remember two GasHouse clown trucks rolled up there one Saturday back in the early GasHouse days.

Back to the story… We gathered at Mallard Creek Park on Saturday, February 2nd, 2013.  It was cold. I had come in unannounced, so I didn’t know anyone.  I’m not sure I liked it, but I needed it, and in a short time I was hooked.  In these ten years I have gotten to experience many things and meet many great guys I probably would not have as a sad clown.  Thanks to all of you and cheers to 10+ more!

Oh yeah, the workout…
