is that a football?

13 Pax pushed the rock and this cool evening.  QIC was tossing a football and got some of the PAX excited.  17:30 hits, time to roll.

SSH 41 in cadence, merkins, MNC, Squats…. Mosey around parking lot past turd shack.  plank for six.  Whilst we here lets do some synchronized planking on the QIC.

Next we do a modified individual DORA.  Step back lunge, Mike Tysons, Freddy Mercury run to other end of parking lot and repeat 5x.

As you finish run laps around the large island in the middle of the parking lot.  Plank.  Synchronized plank (something about a Freight moon) into some merkins in cadence, I believe we did whilst complaining.

Next is Circle up for Global warming by the odd ones and bear crawl the evens around the circle.  Lots of confusion here.  Mostly due to the QIC not being very clear and some of the pack do not know odd or even number.  Mary.  Finish with a gentle mosey to the flag.  The football was not used.  Sorry SA.

Options

11 was the count at Midoryama on Thursday for my first Q in quite a while.

Warmup:

SSH x 20ic

Goofballs x 10 ic for Doby. I thought he would enjoy seeing these grown men dance like that.

Don Q x 10ic

The Thang:

I often offer the PAX an option when Qing. Despite what Def Leppard says there are actually options. I couldn’t decide what I wanted to do so I wrote a bunch of different mini workouts on a paper and numbered them 1-7. Doby had the honors of choosing for us. Below are the options that we did but not in this order.

  1. EMOM(every minute on the minute) for 5 minutes-5 squats, 10 donkey kicks, 3 broad jumps
  2. 6 rounds-10 merkins, 15 v-ups, 20 squats. Those v-ups started to suck!
  3. As many rounds as possible in 7 minutes-Broad jump across parking lot, lunge back.
  4. 21, 15, 9(do the 21 of each then do 15 then do 9)-Burpee, WWI. Crowd pleaser!
  5. EMOM-5 pullups, 10 merkins, 15 squats
  6. 21, 15, 9-jump squat,  merkin

All in all I broke a pretty good sweat. I hope everyone else enjoyed it.

Moleskin:

Having been on the IR since The Bourbon Chase I have to tell you guys that you mean more to me than I can ever say. Not being able to post I quickly started to slide back into a sadclown. I’m so out of shape now compared to where I was that it’s really difficult to have to suffer through that conditioning again. However knowing you will be there makes all the difference!

Daily Double

YHC arrived a little early to scout the AO for icy patches and found Sister Act already doing some EC running. The parking lots look clear so let’s work the Weinke around that. As time nears the PAX start rolling in, but wait, is that Def Leppard? Didn’t he Q the Silver Sneakers workout earlier in the day, and didn’t Sister Act post for the same workout? It appears we may have some kind of secret partnership scheming to share the last Iron Skillet of the year. Regardless of the motive, strong work by both to double up on a less than perfect day for workouts. Let’s get started….

As we all prepare for Christmas over the next two weeks I hope you will take time to remember what this season is about…..celebrating the birth of Jesus. The Christmas season has become so commercialized that it seems that we are trying to “squeeze in” Jesus whenever we have time in an attempt to keep the real meaning of Christmas alive. This year, work on keeping the birth of Jesus at the forefront of Christmas and “squeeze in” all the other stuff. Start your own family traditions that are Christ centered; read Luke Chapter 2 on Christmas Day, attend a church service, help a family less fortunate than yours during the holidays, etc..

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Asssshhh Pond Returns

11/20/2018 Midoriyama
Def Leppard here ghost writing this entirely too late back blast for Ash Pond. Ash Pond has problems with his lower back and running seems to make it worse so he resists running (and writing backblasts). He attended a previous workout and when the call for Q’s was made he jumped back on the schedule.
He asked the Pax if we preferred Option 1 or Option 2. Mr. Freight has employed this strategy before and I will always believe there is really only one option when Freight asks but Ash Pond assured me that there were actually 2 options. Somebody (not the Pax named “Somebody” but somebody in the group) selected Option 1. As I am getting older, I don’t really remember many details of the workout all the way back on 11-20-18 except for these.
We had 10 men and we did 30 or so exercises for 1 minute each with a short rest and/or mosey in between. I remember American Hammers, Mike Tysons, Rocky Balboa’s, Burpees, CDD’s, many forms of Merkins, pullups, WWI sit ups, planking, squats, LBC’s, Flutter Kicks, many forms of Core exercises, Dips, etc. 1 minute was kinda long for some of these.
It was great to have Asssshhh Pond back at Midoriyama.

COT

Midoriyama 11/27

11 men showed and put in some work at Midoriyama this evening.

Warm-Up:  SSH, all that’s needed

The Thang:

First exercise called is the Sheldon Cooper.  This is a Routine/Run exercise that consist of 4 exercises and a lap around a track.  We modified  the exercises a little, and the parking lot at Midoriyama would be our track.  The exercises called:  Burpees, Jump Lunges, Plank Jack Merkins, Big Boys.   Start off with 10 Burpees, 10 Jump Lunges, 10 Plank Jack Merkins, 10 Big Boys, then run to other end of parking lot and back.  Then 9, 9, 9, 9 of same and run.  Continue this and count down to 1.    Good work on this one men.  I’ve done this one before, and it sucks no matter what time of the year you do it.

Next we did 10 minutes of AMRAP.  Broke this down to 5, two minute segments.  Each 2 minute segments consisted of a different exercise done AMRAP.   From 0:00-2:00, we would do 15 Little Gumby in the Woods with a 20 meter sprint.  Continue this until we reach 2 minutes.  From 2:00-4:00 we did Cork Screws x 15 w/ 20 meter sprint.  4:00-6:00 was 15 Ski Merkins  w/ 20 meter sprint. 6:00-800 was 15 Bobby Hurley’s w/ 20 meter sprint. And finally 8:00-10:00 was 15 Peter I Parker’s w/ 20 meter sprint.

Next we made our way to the parking lot near the flag for some quick 4 corner work.  1st corner was 10 Diamond Merkins.  Mosey to 2nd corner for 10 Diamond Merkins, 20 Mountain Climbers.  3rd corner 10 Diamond Merkins, 20 Mountain Climbers, 30 CDD.  4th corner was 10 Diamond Merkins, 20 Mountain Climbers, 30 CDD, 40 Sumo Squats.

Mosey back to flag.  We didn’t get it in before the start, so we ended with a Slaughter Stopper.  20 Burpees OYO.  Time

Call YHC Rain Man

It had been awhile since YHC had volunteered to Q at his home AO of Midoriyama, so YHC volunteered a week and a half ago to Q. If you happen to be a Midoriyama regular, you should’ve noticed by now that it is raining or just finished raining if YHC has the Q. Some of the PAX were discussing whether YHC should get his F3 name changed to Rain Man. As the PAX roll in, YHC notices a dark gray Tacoma rolling in. Former Nantan Freight is off the IR and back out in the gloom. Great to see you back out, brother (at least that was YHC’s initial thought).  Thankfully, the rain has stopped. Def Leppard rolls in a couple minutes late (presumably on purpose just in case the Q calls  the Slawter starter). No FNGs, short disclaimer, let’s go!

Warmup:

  • SSH X 10IC
  • Don Q’s X 10IC (this is where the constructive sarcasm of the prior Nantan began)
  • Morr. N/C’s X 15C
  • Goofballs X 10IC

PLEDGE

The Thang:

Walls of Jericho-

All PAX perform 7 reps of 7 different exercises, then run a lap around one of the parking lots at Midoriyama. This will be repeated for 7 rounds total, except the final round the PAX will run 7 laps around the parking lot.

Exercises were: Merkins, Squats, In-N-Outs, Diamond Merkins, Sumo Jump Squat, WWI’s, and Flying Squirrels.

YHC believes he heard some constructive sarcasm from the six, but the six was so far back, it was really hard to tell.

Red Barchetta

With everyone out of breath (except for Madoff, who looked as if he were waiting for the warmup to finish), we fellowship Mosey over to adjacent parking lot for some Red Barchetta. YHC was introduced to this exercise by Whoopee. YHC had cones placed at 0, 10, 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards. As YHC was explaining the exercise the PAX, newly crowned site Q Blart jumps on the constructive sarcasm train with Freight and questions the Q’s measurement methods to ensure we are at the correct “yardage” to achieve optimum workout/ cardio. After explaining that YHC used Google to measure the distances (Google is never wrong), we got to work.

  • Sprint to 100 yard marker, 100 SSH SC, sprint back to start
  • Sprint to 75 yard marker, 75 Mountain Climbers (count right leg) sprint back to start
  • Sprint to 50 yard marker, 50 LBC’s, sprint back to start
  • Sprint to 25 yard marker, 25 Merkins, sprint back to start
  • Sprint to 10 yard marker, 10 Burpees, sprint, crawl, walk back to start.

Constant Mumblechatter/ Sarcasm throughout the entire evolution.

11’s

Finally, the PAX lined up for 11’s. Tiger Squats/ Merkins. Q’s form was questioned by lead instigator/ constructive sarcasm director. YHC will acquire some logs to be used as coupons next workout so he can incorporate the “Log in your eye vs. the speck in your neighbors’ eye” parable. Might be beneficial.

Mosey back to the Flag just in time. (This is where the constructive sarcasm of the prior Nantan ended.)

COT

YHC took us out in prayer.

Moleskin:

If you read the story of Joshua and how the walls of Jericho fell, it’s truly an amazing story. Joshua was tasked to lead a group of untrained, unarmed nomads to take a city that was double-walled, on a hill, and self-sufficient as far as food and water goes. The directions to just march around the city for 7 days then blow the trumpets and scream must have seemed ludicrous to Joshua. Even though the odds were against him, he was obedient. And because of his obedience, the walls of Jericho fell and the Sky Q kept his promise. What “Jerichos” do we have in our own lives? Physical? Spiritual? Emotional? Job? Whatever the case, being obedient to the Sky Q is the best way to handle the situation.

Thank you guys for allowing me to lead. Thanks for posting and supporting even when it’s wet and nasty outside. Great work by all. And it was good to hear the lively mumble chatter this evening.
