F3 Gastonia – Fantasy Football League

Men of F3 Gastonia,

I’ve started an F3 Fantasy Football League for those interested in joining from the Gastonia region.

We will draft live! I’ll be hosting a live draft party on Sunday, August 28th at 3pm. There’ll be plenty of non-healthy snacks and beverages on hand to work off at F3 the following week!

The league will be friendly, so just $25 dues with payouts to 3 places.

Tour de Folsom

That’s a first, the Folsom regulars that dodged the Blue Pill were actually a few minutes early this AM! Looks like a strong showing of 7 PAX ready to get it on.

No FNGs so to the disclaimer. I like to reiterate it whether there are any FNGs or not. Honestly, we all are pretty crazy for being out there much less more than once.

Warm-o-rama

SSH x20 IC, Mountain Climbers x20 IC, LBCs x20 IC, then some hamstring stretching reach and touch right toes for 10 count, left toes for 10 count, middle ground 10 count. Alright, no mumble-chatter so moving on.

Pledge

Tha Thang

Mosey the walking track back up to the horse track concrete seating area. Mumble-chatter something about “horse track?”, Dolph is in the lead up the sidewalk, well, now we are lost, nope just lost the hard surface. After a quick detour, back on track.

there are five levels of concrete seats, so jump ups to the top 5 burpees, hop back down, jump up to the top with 4 burpees, back down then up for 3, 2, 1. Oh yeah, we gettin warmed up now. Mosey down to the next venue of torture, the pond parking lot. Line up, bear crawl across finishing with 10 merkins, lunge walk back with 10 squats, rinse repeat 3 rounds the last being with 5 instead of 10. Another mosey up to the concession stand by the ball field for 20 donkey kicks OYO, 20 wall assisted sit ups OYO, 20 one leg squats 10 each leg. Let’s mosey again down to the walking track and aroun the back side of the pond to the lower shelter for some Dora. Partner up, PAX 1 runs to the top of the parking lot and back while 2 does step ups AMRAP, switch PAX. Round 2, PAX 1 runs to the top of the lot and back while 2 does calf raises, switch. Round 3, PAX 1 runs top of the lot and back while 2 does crab cakes. Recover, grab a bench for 20 dips IC, 20 Freddie Mercuries IC. Mosey back up to the upper lot. Pretty good timing!

: it’s always an honor to Q the Folsom crew. Good work men pushing it to the limit. The BB title was manifested by the layout of the workout, mentioned by Garfield, I believe, thanks. There was a slight Omaha on behalf of QIC, mumble-chatter was heard about the amount of running and that Pizza Man would be proud. After all was said and done, 2.2 miles in the books, the PAX pushed the rock! Looking forward to next time. It’s true that it doesn’t get easier, you just get stronger!

 

Killer bees and useless Chewbacca

8 Men gathered at Folsom in Dallas NC for Hushpuppy’s “VQgina”.  More about that in a minute.  Most arrived at 6:15 ready to go but the wait until 6:30 gave time for the LIFO Sparky to arrive.  It was also good to see the Mayor again.  As the clock struck 6:30 and we pondered on the status of some weekly regulars who had not been coming on Saturdays, YHC led the pledge, and it was off on a short warm up mosey.

WU: Short mosey to the small amphitheater riddled with killer bees that survived extermination. Started with Plank-O-Rama, But YHC immediately remembered that he had neglected to give the disclaimer; a rookie mistake he dare not repeat.  After reminding the PAX they were private citizens in a public park and everything I said was a suggestion from an idiot, I suggested strongly they get back in their cars and go home.  They declined and the beat down began.  Right arm up, left arm up, (not at the same time) then hold the plank for Peter Parkers, arm taps, Parker Peters, then Merkins, all IC X 10 without ever leaving the plank position.  The mumble began about the time Parker Peters were called. During the plank YHC shared his thoughts on the first F, and how I first heard of F3.  After recovery, SSH x 15 IC, then Abe Vigoda’s (slow windmills for the less mobile of us) x 10 IC.  Then on the 6 for LBC’s and flutter kicks, both IC X 15, then on to Donkey kicks.  At this time, all PAX save 1 retreated a safe distance from the nest of stinging devils, but not Dolph.  He faced the tiny beast’s feet first performing his donkey kicks right beneath the nest.  They dared not attack and watched in awe as he performed the majestic assault on their fortress.

The Thang: Mosey to the picnic shelter at the far end of the lot for 15 Step ups on the picnic tables, followed by 15 dips.  YHC shared how Fellowship was a strong component of F3, and that all PAX should get involved in events other than just the workouts.  I shared of my own success and how the motivation and friendship of other members have motivated me to get stronger. We then repeated the step ups and dips and began another mosey to the next parking lot.  Around the lake, up the hill, fleet footed Gomer led the way with Dolph in hot pursuit.  Someone clocked them at almost 14 miles per hour while the rest of us slow moseyed to catch up.  Next parking lot, Planks, LBC’s, Flutter kicks X15 IC, then booyah merkins on the cart path with a partner, 10 OYO.  Then it was another mosey to some field that had several posts and water spigots sticking out of the ground.  Lunge walk to each post, then a burpee.  Repeat at each post until we reached some black trash barrel placed in the middle of the field (approx.: 10).  Then mosey to a hill for some 11’s.  Since YHC doesn’t like exercises that put his 6 above his head because it encourages merlot, I called Bobby Hurley’s at the top of the hill and merkins at the bottom.  FNG was holding strong so far but modified a bit as the morning caught up with him. The option to bear crawl the hill was given but as far as I know all declined.  Then it was mosey back to the tennis courts with Plank-O-Rama in the middle to catch our wind.  At this time there was 15 minutes left and the Weinke was near the end.  The last 2 things were “some sort of suicides on the tennis court” and “bring out Chewbacca”.  At the tennis courts: bear crawl across the first court, then run back.  Bear crawl, then run to the end of the second court, then run back.  This occurred across all 6 courts.  As we encouraged the 6, Dolph called an audible for those who had completed (flutter kicks I believe).  At this point there were 7 minutes remaining and all were winded so YHC shared on the sifter, and how men bond when they sweat together, but the greatest importance on the 3rd F. Then it was on to the parking lot to bring out Chewbacca.  Pulled out the phone, the Bluetooth speaker shaped like Chewbacca and played a song that basically said “get low” about 100 times, and we did squats and then merkins to the beat, holding the low point for as long as possible during the verses.

Exercises complete, it was time for Name-O-Rama.  YHC handed out waters and all were concerned as FNG chugged his very quickly.  After Name-O-Rama it became time to name the FNG and during the questioning he became quite pale and splashed Merlot.  While trying to settle on a name, Subway was considered (since his hospital name was Jared) but YHC declined this because of the pedophilic implications.  After his fourth spew, each time describing the contents, it was determined he would be called Cuatro.  All gave Cuatro a shout out because we have all been there, and encouraged him strongly to come back.

COT: prayers for our nation, for some friends and family suffering with cancer.

Oh, I forgot. 2 Electronic failures, Chewbacca the Bluetooth speaker never played, so the exercise just wasn’t the same through the phone without the bass line.  In the week leading up to my VQ I tweeted out “I’m VQing at Folsom” but didn’t notice the auto spelling of my phone typed “Vqgina at Folsom”.  It’s out in the Twitter-verse forever and Davinci nominated it to be added to the Lexicon.  We shall see.

Time fly’s when you’re having fun!

2 men posted at Folsom this morning. Ahh who’s that coming in hot? Sparky’s here just in time, and right behind him driving like Bo Duke, Gomer is coming in even hotter. Now that everyone is here let’s get this started. Now 4 men strong this morning, good even number for the first set of exercises. No FNG’s so a short discaimer and start the warmup.

Mosey to the tennis courts for Dora 123, Partner up and do 100 merkins, 200 lbc’s, and 300 squat’s. 1 person sprinting to the 3’rd light pole and the other exercising. Aggregate count. Dora’s done and now we mosey to the favorite Folsom Hill.  Here we run down the hill and do 10 CDD’s  at the bottom, Bernie Sander’s back to top with 10 wide leg situps at the top for 3 set’s OYO. Mosey to the shelter at bottom of parking lot. 2 set’s of dips, stepups, and derkins x15 IC. Next we hit the parking lot for a halftime show of Roadies Touchdown Beatdown (Thank’s Roadie). It’s been nearly 30 days since we performed this set of exercises that we are going to revisit in another 30 days for a little friendly competition for the Folsom Trophy. Every 10 yards we do a set of exercises corresponding to the yardline you are at. 10yd = 10 CDD’s , 20yd=20 squat’s, 30yds=30 merkins,  40yds=40 lunge’s, 50yds=50 lbc’s, and back down the corresponding yard markers with the same exercises and count all the way to the 100yd line. Time is nearly up so we mosey to the starting point for the pledge.

COT: no announcement’s  or FNG’s at this time so we take prayer request and namorama. BOM. YHC takes us out.

Folsom backblast

8 men posted to Folsom this morning. allen tate and floyd coming in hot, so we met them at their trucks. it’s 05:30, let’s get it.

after a longer than needed mosey (in which we passed sparky), stop for warmups. good mornings x 20IC, Morrocan nightclubs x 53IC and monkey humpers x 15IC.

mosey back to the tennis courts for some Dora.  100 merkins, 200 mountain climbers, 300 side straddle hops.  p1 does his half while p2 runs suicides.  once p1 finished their 50 merkins, we switch.  p2 x 50 merkins, p1 runs suicides.  instead of p1 waiting for p2 to get back, we switched it and made p2 wait till p1 was done.

after this we had time for lazy Dora. 50 Carolina dry docks, 100 flutter kicks and 150 lbcs. same format as above.

circle up for an 11 merkins ring of fire, 22 merkins to honor our veterans. Allen Tate wanted more lbcs, so we dropped for 25OYO.  we end with 5 one-legged double merkin burpees.

mosey back to the starting point as we’re out of time.

Can we run a mile

9 men overcame the fartsack this am to take the red pill. That’s the hardest part of the battle. Sparky came in hot to catch the last of the warmup.

Warm up x 15 IC; SSH, Toy soldiers, Mericans, Squats, Carolina Dry Docks, Trunk Side Stretch. One more round of SSH for Sparky.

Pledge

Gallop to the lower parking lot and stop at the beginning and turn around to begin the Thang.
– 5 crab cakes each side, sprint up the hill approx 25 yds to speed bump and do 5 burpees sprint back and plank till the six arrives.
– 10 Pretzels each side sprint to top of hill and 10 burpees and sprint back, plank for the six.
– 15 WWII sit ups sprint up the hill and 15 burpees and sprint back, plank for the six.
– mosey to playground for 3 rounds of 5 pullups and 5 twist mericans each side; twist mericans take a little coordination. Nice work men.
– mosey to ampitheater for 3 rounds of donkey kicks x 10 IC and 10 box jumps oyo. Hank asked if we could run a mile, YHC checked the watch and we had a .5 mile in so we skipped the remainder of the pain stations and ran .75 of a mile to wrap it up.

Moleskin; Burpee sprints out of the gate this morning definitely got the mumble chatter started early and the sweat rolling. Strong work by all, TClaps to Gomer. Way to push it sir. Next time I’ll suggest gloves for the Donkey kicks. Hank hope we got enough running in for you this am. As always a pleasure to lead you men. Iron sharpens Iron; no better way to start the day. Folsom 5K and throw a couple exercises too

This Saturday morning was special to me cause it was my VQ at Folsom.  I wasn’t sure how many PAX would show cause I like to mosey just a little during a workout.  Thanks to the PAX for not giving me to hard of time.  The workout went like this…

Warm-up:

Side straddle hops X 25 IC

LBC’s X 20 IC

Don Q’s X 15 IC

Here we go:

Mosey to tennis courts for some suicides, throw in 25, 20, 15, 10, 5  merkins at each court and run back.  Rinse and repeat but I figured we needed some core so LBC’s instead of merkins, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5.

Mosey back to the flag for the Pledge,  Sorry PAX, Pizza Man’s delivery isn’t over.

Mosey to the horse track, 20 box jumps on the bleachers and a lap around the horse track, rinse and repeat.

Mosey to the hill for hill runs.  Run down and back up with a burpee at the top, then 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

Continue with the mosey to the shelter for 40 dips and 20 flutter kicks IC, rinse and repeat

At this point the PAX knew what was next just not sure what way Pizza Man was taking them…so we moseyed on the trail back to the flag.

We had time for one more thing…can’t forget pull-ups and a little more core…we completed 7’s (6 pull-ups 1 WW sit up, then 5 and 2…etc)

After all said and done around 30 miles were logged at Folsom.  I do believe I heard somebody say that was a record!!  Once again, it was an honor to have the opportunity to lead at Folsom.

8 men ventured to Folsom this morning. pretty good turn out for Wednesday.  gomer brought an fng.  short disclaimer was given – let’s roll.

start with a little mosey to the lower parking lot. decided to keep the mosey going so we headed to the amphitheater for our warmups.

warmorama: arm circles for a minute, dying cockroaches x 20IC and hillbillys x 20IC.

the thang

25 quick donkey kicks to get the heart rate up. then we mosey to our Folsom hill.  bear crawl up, 25 mountain climbers, crawl bear down. repeat x 4.

mosey on over to the far concession stand.  ascending testicles, 40 lbc OYO, 5 burpees OYO.

short mosey to the parking lot beside the concession stand for four corners escalators. c1: merkins, c2: mountain climbers, c3: squats, c4: lbc. 5 burpees

mosey back to the amphitheater for pretzel crunches, lbc, burpees and a one bttw hold.

back to the launching point for ring of fire. high knees to the end of the parking lot, butt kickers back.  few minutes left, def leppard called CDD x 10IC, mary lou called 10 merkins and floyd closed us out with… 5 burpees OYO.  time.

COT, namearama, named the new guy, liberace.  no announcements, prayer requests: the pasour family with their loss, pray for this country.  BOM – yhc took us out.

Five warriors busted out of the fartsack for a good Tuesday morning beat down. Wait here comes an FNG in a sweet old school minivan………..nope, must be lost. I briefly describe that today’s workout will be mostly yoga and pilates, then Huckleberry mumbles something about Insanity or P90x? More chatter, woahh it’s 5:31, lets hit it

marked parking lots are awesome BTW! A version of 11s but we doin 8s.

bear crawl one parking space, 7 burpees; bear crawl 2 spaces, 6 burpees; mumble chatter…….you get the just, until bear crawl 7 spaces with 1 burpee. Run a lap around the parking lot for round 2. I think Dolph ran at least 3 laps waiting for us to finish. This time lunge walk the spaces with merkins down to 7 spaces and 1 merkin. Run a lap around the lot for round three. Imperial walkers and LBCs. Run a lap and ready for round 4. Army soldier walk spaces and squats the same ending with 7 and 1. More mumble chatter, something about feeling something burning. Anyway, run a lap for round 5, Omaha, let’s slow walk spaces with Good mornings. After all the thigh burns, duck walks were quickly modified. Yes, take another lap. Circle up for some prison merkin burpees x5, confusion chatter, I had just read up on this one last night, PAX yell demo. As YHC I should have counted my demo as 1, ouch. Mosey back to the upper lot and flag for the pledge. With time left, circle up for ring of Fire merkins 10 each then some hillbillies x15 IC, Freddy mercuries x15 IC. Sparky shouts “hey, learned a new one, Hyper Burpee” or something like that, mumble chatter during the demo, then Dolph brought out another extreme merkin that had PAX falling on their shoulders.

Warm-up:

SSH- 25 IC

Moroccan Night Clubs- 30 IC ( for Dolph)

Squats- 25 IC

Merkins – 15 IC

The Thang:

We moseyed to the Tennis courts ( about 30 yards) so that those of us with soft six’s wouldn’t ruin them ….then it happened Core time by Tool time….the PAX were really grateful that we weren’t training for the BRR ….however that ended shortly and they were asking for a mosey…denied!

In and Outs with arms up -25

Freddie Mercury’s forward with arms up in seated V position – 25 /Then Backwards for 25

Crunchy Frog – 25

Wide leg sit-ups – 25

Fifer Scissors- 25

Hip Rock and Raise – 25

Heels to Heaven- 25

V-Up/Roll-ups -25

Oblique V-ups Right Side -25 /Then Left side -25

After that the PAX moseyed to the playground for some pull-up and Merkin action… and on to the rest of the Challenge…

After this the PAX moseyed from the Playground to the Folsom mini hill…..(Hamburger Hills distant relative)

Sprint up the hill at top 5 Burpees x 3

Sprint down the hill 20 CDD’s x 3

We did this together….well except Dolph….he got a little excited one time and ran off on his own….Huckleberry was quick to point that out to him !

Mosey back to the Flag and circle up – thanks to Pizza Man and Dolph for rounding up the six…

We certainly didn’t have enough core time!
