Stay with the group in cadence.  We will not go so fast where anyone gets left behind.

Tesla

Just me and Uncle Ted

There were two cars in the parking lot as I pulled in at 0527 on this warm December morning. The Sentinel’s small white hatchback was at the far left, away from the school. A familiar gray mid-size SUV was at the other end, but something wasn’t right. Was the mist on my windshield clouding my senses??  No, in a strange twist opposite of yesterday’s “Bulldog Time Warp,” it was Tesla – early!

I was wary of more unusual events, but things seemed to settle back to normal at 0530.  No other pax showed up after I planted the shovel flag, so away we went. No disclaimer, just a brief warmup then The Thang:

  • Sequence of 7 core exercises in cadence (American hammers, Scissor kicks, Star crunches, Mountain climbers, Oblique crunches, Big Boys, Heels to Heaven)
  • Triple Nickel (burpees/lunges, CDD’s/Bobby Hurleys, Perfect form merkins/Reverse lunges, Mike Tysons/SSH)
  • Rinse and repeat (same core exercises; different ones as noted for Triple Nickels)

This Weinke was definitely core-heavy.  We pushed hard and got halfway through the 4th set of Triple Nickels, then time!

Despite the lousy weather forecast, it was great to be out in the gloom and start the day right.

some rucked some ran

we talked about Isaiah 48:17-19

This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea. Your descendants would have been like the sand, your children like its numberless grains; their name would never be blotted out nor destroyed from before me.”

WWJD it is really that simple. You will then reap the benefits!!

as a side note:
WWWE (What would Wichita Eat) can help you with your nutritional choices!

Watts Up Powering Down….

Last Ground Assault of 2023

As 2022 was coming to a close there was some talk in the gloom of starting a new running and rucking AO in Belmont. With all the relays, half-marathons, marathons and other events that the PAX were participating in it seemed like it stood a good chance of making it. The other idea was to see if a 5:00AM launch on Wednesdays would actually work. So on January 4th, 2023 there were 11 crazy PAX there at 5:00AM for the debut of the new AO. Now we find ourselves at the end of 2023 with the aptly named Ground Assault still going strong.

Today we had four ruckers and six runners who braved the misty mess to get just a little bit better. We said the pledge before heading out to ruck and run The Loops.

Here’s to a great first year for Ground Assault and to an even better 2024!

Announcements:

  • Beer Mile, Dec 30th – reach out to Sargento
  • New Year’s Convergence, Jan 1st – Martha Rivers Park, 7:00AM with EC rucking and running options at 6:00AM leaving from Pelican’s

Prayer Requests

  • all those traveling
  • Turtleman & family
  • Montana
  • Jane Fonda
  • all those unspoken

COT

Midoriyama Afloat

I’ll be the first to tell you I was not looking forward to Qing after a day spent hanging out with the family inside because of the rain, rain, rain!  But I told my M when she asked, “that’s why you Q, it holds you accountable”!  The rain kept coming as I drove to Midoriyama but as often happens God decided to give us a break for about 45 minutes!  Seven PAX showed to work off some Christmas day vittles and get better.

The Thang:  A quick (well kind of) warmup of 60 second circle.  Gumby’s counting trickery was soon foiled by Gavel and his keen mastery of numbers!  Next we mosied to the shelter to escape the rain I thought would be present.  A round of what I called Dirty Down & Backs, kind of like Dirty 11s but since the shelter was rather short, I called lunge-walks down 1 burpee then bear-crawls back 2 burpees and so forth until we got to 11 burpees.  Next was something I called Flip-Flops.  1 partner counted LBCs up to 25 while the other counted down 25 squats.  Next it was “Merry Christmas”!  We each grabbed a spot at a picnic table & started doing step-ups until a PAX called “Merry Christmas”, then we switched to merkins until they called Happy New Year”!   Finally, we mosied back to the flag & TIME!

COT:

Prayer Requests:  Purple Haze’s M / Purple Haze’s mom / Gumby’s mom / Happy Tree’s mom & step-dad / Def Leppard’s mom ran off road in her car w/ some damage but is ok / Broke’s mom / safe travels for PAX

Sinus Drainage at The Labryinth

Damp.  A few HIMs showed for the last Labryinth workout of 2023.  This weather is wreaking havoc on my sinuses.  Drainage is occurring.

Udders from Greensboro showed for the beatdown.

No FNG’s so we skipped the disclaimer, recited the pledge and got on with it.

Quick warm up with 12 – SSH’s and 12 – Imperial Walkers

Mosey to the Park to get to work.

First up was a simple “reps at the islands”:  Start at the upper end of the parking lot and mosey toward the lower end stopping at each island for 5 Merkins.

Next up was a “Lazy Man’s 10’s” (just made this name up on the fly):  10 Squats on one side of the parking lot – Mosey to the opposite side – 10 LBC’s – Repeat 9 more times.

“Reps at the light poles” – reverse of the first exercise with 5 CDD’s at every light pole heading back to the upper end of the parking lot.

Another round of “Lazy Man’s 10’s”:  Lunge to the light pole in the center of the parking lot – mosey to the other side – 15 Flutter Kicks – Mosey back and repeat 9 more times.

Quick set of each exercise we just completed:  5 Merkins – 10 Squats – 10 LBC’s – 5 CDD’s – Lunge to the light pole – 15 Flutter Kicks

Mosey to entrance of Martha Rivers – 10 Merkins

Mosey back to start for two sets of Mary – Oblique Crunches & Dying Cockroaches

Announcements:  New Year’s Day Convergence at Martha Rivers; EC Running & Rucking Options at 0600 (meet at Pelicans) followed by convergence.  Bring a block if you have one.  Beer Mile this Saturday at Sargento’s.

Prayer Requests:  Southminster family – The Mason’s – just suffered a death; others at the  Church.

Happy Holidays and as always, it’s an honor to lead.

Until the next one.  Aye!
