Monkey Humpers and Merlot!!

With nothing planned I showed up hoping I can pull off a good Q. 5 of us showed up on a wet New Year Day / my birthday.

With a small warm-up we moseyed down to the QT. Completing monkey humpers, CDD and a couple other exercises in cadence.

We continued passed Tony’s ice cream down to the towing company. I explain how I knew the guy in the building behind The towing company. With that we gave him some monkey humpers as well.

We continued up the street toward the funeral home. With two cars sitting at the stop light we decided to give them some monkey Humpers to look at. I explain to the guys how I had once went to that funeral home for a mother of a good friend of mine.

We continued over to South Street where we stopped and sprinted up the hill to the stop sign.

We then completed a couple of Route 66s.  Around the corner we did some wall sitting for one minute and then mosey back to the start.

 

During the route 66s is where the Merlot came in, we had a very good splashing going on this a.m. Folger has been three for  three on  workouts and now is three for three on his Merlot. He has not missed a workout without a Merlot. Folger is a great guy. and takes his lumps well. Let’s continue to encourage him as he strives to get better physically.

Speeding around the Booobby.

14 of us at The Ricky Bobby on a mild Wednesday morning. One PAX already out on a long run, the rest of us gathered for some bootcamp. Nothing big planned, we warmed  up with a mosey. Moseying through the neighbor hood learning about the routes and stopping along several points completing exercise OYO because we wanted to not wake the neighbors. Finished up with some wall sits and some sprint work that I had learned from the night before at Midoriyama. Great group of guys pushing hard and giving some good conversation about workout Q’ing.

The cold Storm.

17 of us on this cold blistering morning. A couple of PAX getting some EC as I pulled up. Unaware of the danger brewing, they need not wear themselves out to early.

I normally hate going to a Sister Act Q. I usually cant keep up and cut reps short. Its often discouraging for me to know that I cant do a complete rep and keep up with the pack. So I have been trying to push so I can keep up. Last week we did a brutal workout at Midoriyama. So today I decided to do something similar. I want to thank SA and all of you tough men in Gastonia. I’ve seen several of you make big changes and have big turn arounds in your lives. You guys are awesome!!!!

5 Burpees.

We moseyed down to the main drive. we completed 5 Burpees and continued to the neighborhood across the road and completed 5 Burpees at each stop sign/intersection until we get back to the start. 5 Burpees at the end. Mosey back to the flag for the deck of death. 

Pull 5 cards from the workout deck and then make a lap around parking lot. Plank for the six. Continue till time is up.

The devil is working hard on me. I cant seem to focus on anything that I want to. Reading has become hard to comprehend and I cant seem to think clearly. I lost control of the group right from the beginning today. The PAX just didn’t seem to like my plans. I got home just to find out that a really good friend has passed away this morning.  A friend of my dads who was always calling and checking in on me and my racing. He watched every race and helped me where he could in life.  Its been a pretty tough day.

I didn’t have a lot going on and I told the site Q I would stop by and lead if anyone showed. No body showed so I ran a mile and talked junk on a video and posted it on Twitter.

I borrowed this plan from my longtime friend Pizzaman. He ran this for the annihilation crew a few months back. I want to run more so this is a great way to get some miles in. I also adjusted the Burpees.  Only we had to all stay together and since its still thanksgiving; we stopped a couple of times to share some thanks. We even visited El Tigre’s  new house and gave him some Monkey Humpers. Brutus has a good watch to keep distance; so he kept up with our 1/4 mile stops. Thanks to him for helping me.

Warm-Up:

The Thang:

YHC created a 4 mile route and at every 1/4 mile marker the PAX were to perform a set of exercises.

The exercises were…

10 merkins

15 squats

20 Flutters (each leg)

Then on to the next mark…strong work by all!!

With that complete and around 10 minutes to go we moseyed to the covered shelter for Some warm down and stretching. 5 Burpees to top it off.

Draw a 5 cards from the workout deck. Complete exercise and then mosey around the block. When everyone has returned, we draw another 5 cards and repeat run. Go through the whole deck till time is up.

We stopped several times and shared a thankful story. We got through about half the deck before time was up.

Indian run up to the soccer fields. Stop at the transformers. (Note to self, not all PAX know what a transformer is). 

5 Burpees OYO.

Indian run around the fields to the hill by the dog park for 11’s. Hillbillies and Toy Soldiers up and down the hill. Indian Run over to the opposite corner of the field for 11’s across the short side of the field. CDD and Skater Squats. Run over to the Burpee spot (by the transformers) and give me 5 more Burpees. Indian run to the playground. More 11’s. Pull-ups and WW1’s.

Mosey back to the start. 11’s across the parking lot. SSH and Overhead Claps.

Merkin & BURPEE DANS!!!!!!

We started with Merkins and then switched to Burpees. We lined up across the curb and did 1 Merkin/Burpee and 4 lunges, then another Merkin/Burpee and 4 lunges. It was about 2 – 3 sets per rep.  At the other side we turned around and came back. Only we added a  Merkin/Burpee. So 2 Merkin/Burpees and 4 lunges. then at the other side add another Merkin/Burpee. All the way to 10 Merkin/Burpees. We completed all the Merkins but not the Burpees. Also we did the same format but did LBC and crab walk from one side to the other.
