Storming Outside

Certainly not the worst weather we have seen, but regardless the PAX were led outside in the rain for a cardio-heavy workout.  We took some cover under the breezeway at the school drop off and entrance for most of the work out, but there was still no way to stay 100% dry.  #SorryNotSorry.

TClaps to Brownstreak and Whoopee who got an early 0500 start for some running in the rain before the Q and PAX arrived… if only my alarm clock started that early.

At 0530 we start with the warmup…

  • SSH IC x 10
  • Merkins IC x 10, right to…
  • Planks with Leg/Arm Extensions, right to…
  • Mountain Climbers

Recover and mosey to the parking lot for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Back to the breezeway to run a few laps (about .25 miles) and get loose.  Also included about 100 meter Zombie Walk – Godfather style and 20 LBC IC.

With the PAX warmed up (and expecting sprints through the rain in the parking lot), YHC leads the PAX in some Dora 1-2-3 under cover.  Partner up and collectively complete 100 Merkins, 200 LBCs, and 300 Squats.  Partner A runs sprints under the breezeway while Partner B completes reps.

Unless someone can prove otherwise, I believe we had a first for a F3 workout… In the middle of Dora 1-2-3, an emergency request was made to open the doors for one PAX who needed #2.  Must have been the quickest ever – probably didn’t wipe.  No, this was not Brown Streak.

As promised, to ensure a proper cardio beatdown, we Indian Run a few laps around the parking lot  (was about .75 mile total).  YHC needs to practice leading a moving Indian Run as my instructions to have the leader circle back to pick up the six did not produce the desired result.  Probably should say something like Circle Back to Pick Up The Six, not Circle Up.  #LearningToLead

We wrap up our workout with 7 Minutes of Mary…

  • LBC
  • Homer and Marge
  • Dying Cockroach (of course)
  • Flutter Kicks
  • Scissor Kicks
  • Plank (high, extensions, low, french fries).

During our extended plank, in attempt to fight off the agony (while completely spent) YHC asked anyone for a good story.  Like a scene from SNL Celebrity Jeopardy, Dolph answers, “What is Five burpee’s on your own”.  Certainly not a literary work of art, but since Dolph insisted, this is in fact, a short story.  You can argue with Dolph if you like.

As requested, we finish our workout with 5 BOYO.

Moleskin:

Working out in bad weather is one of the things I really enjoy about F3. Sure, it sucks when are dragging your can out of bed at 0500 (or earlier), and driving through a downpour to your AO, with the inevitable reality that in 45 minutes you will climbing back into your car soaking wet and exhausted ready to start the rest of your day (before most get out of bed).  But doing this with a group of great men who I’ve had the pleasure to push the rock with for the last 9 months makes this worth it. Knowing you’ll be talking about this at Coffeeteria or 2ndF Happy Hour is something I won’t give up, and a gift worth sharing with others.

Announcements:

  • 5th Anniversary Convergence on Friday.  Clown Cars leave the Scheile on Friday at 0600.
  • Tooltime and Flush are looking for anyone interested in a Spartan race.  Check with Tooltime if there is any interest.
  • Keep Inky and his family in your prayers with the passing of his father in law.
  • We give thanks for the news that Anthrax will be a dad again!

I’m thankful for my brothers that get up with me at stupid hours, in bad weather, that motivate me, and push me to be better.  Aye!

BackBlast- #TheStorm: Two For Tuesday

12 PAX showed up to put in some work at #TheStorm early this morning.

Last night I looked at the forecast and it said 100% rain and this morning the rain was coming down in buckets.  No worries when you have the nicest AO in F3 Nation…the tweet went out that we would meet up inside.  All the PAX were all smiles to be out of that mess this morning when they entered the dry confine of the weight room.

Prayers: Safe travels to everyone this holiday

Coffeeteria: 5 at Floyd and Blackies in Cramerton

With this being the week of Christmas and the end of the year I have to look back at this year and realize I have a lot to be thankful for and that I am truly blessed in all I have in my life (family, friends, job, etc.).  One thing I am happy to have in my life right now is F3 and the group of men that pushes each other to get better in both the physical way and as a person (community and family). Funny to think back to my first workout at the Schiele on March 23 and think how far F3 Gastonia has come since then.  I am looking forward to see what great things 2016 has in store for the men of F3 Gastonia and myself.

Again it was my pleasure to lead the PAX today!

BackBlast- #TheStorm: Shooting Stars And Cinder Blocks

9 PAX showed up to put in some work at #TheStorm early this morning.

I showed up at 5:21 and there was 1 lone mom mobile (Lime Green Ford Escape) belonging to Godfather awaiting the PAX in the parking lot.  Soon after 5:25 the rest of the PAX showed up.  During the chatter right before the workout started there was a flurry of shooting stars (…ok maybe 2).  JoBu started rattling astronomy terms and letting all of us know what was going on since he is a science nerd, but he needed to be cut off because IT WAS GO TIME!

This was my first time at a workout in 2 weeks at an F3 workout due to being sick.  It was much easier coming back when I knew I had the Q and I was motivated and pumped up to get back at it. I appreciate all of the guys who went at it today and got some work in at 5:30 this AM.

Again it was my pleasure to lead the PAX today!

“This is a goal line”

9 PAX showed up in the cold and misty weather to get it done this morning.

The disclaimer was forgotten at this point, but there were no FNGs and it was obvious that I am not a professional.

WU:  SSH-IC x25, Toy Soldiers-IC x10, Don Quixote-IC x10.  Some of my counting got off to a bad start and we desperately needed Whoopee to get us out of that, but we made it through.

-Pledge of Allegiance-

THE THANG:
Mosey down on the field to the goal line.  Everyone was informed there were four exercises to do (Merkin, Squat, Burpee and CDD).  At every 10 yards, choose an exercise and do the reps on that yard line (i.e. 10 burpees at the 10 yard line, 20 push ups at the 20 yard line, etc.). At the end, there were three tractor tires placed and the PAX had to flip the tires at least twice.  This was really fun since the tires had some water inside and were wet on the outside.

Next up was the lap run while hitting the stairs.  It was then that we realized the away side is aluminum stairs and the disclaimer was quickly noted.  When the PAX finished, they came back for the six. Way to motivate and push it guys.  I also realized I was not telling the truth the prior week when I asked “can’t we run.”

Meet back up at the goal line for Indian Plank jumps.  Everyone lined up going down the field with about a yard in between and held a plank while one man jumped or hurdled over the rest.  When one would finish, another would start.  This was done for two rounds and ended up going thirty-five yards.

Mosey back to the flag for some block work.  Each PAX grabbed two blocks and circled up for some shrugs in a slow cadence x25 then switched to one block for some straight leg deadlifts IC x15 (except for Dolph and Godfather who used two blocks….ANIMALS).

We still had some time left so a personal favorite of mine is some Mary.   V-up x10 OYO, Flutter Kicks IC x10, French Fries IC x10, Twists IC x10, WWII Sit-ups 10 Count, Freddy Mercury IC x10, another round of Flutter Kicks IC x25 and pop back up for some squat presses x10 OYO with the blocks.

Last thing on the list was some parking lot suicides at each parking space and the PAX got up to 8 spaces before time was up.

COT:
Forgot to do the name-o-rama, but two announcements were made for the Gladiator Games on 12/12/2015 (See Dolph) and the CrowderFest ’15 Run (See Whoopee).

Special thanks to BA and Godfather for setup and use of tires, Jobu for access and Dolph for the extra block.  Always a pleasure to be out there with you guys.

BackBlast- #TheStorm: Deck Of Death

18 PAX showed up to put in some work at #TheStorm early this morning.

Everyone jumped out of their cars and circled up and awaited 5:30am to get rolling.  BA quickly went through the legalities and the PAX said the Pledge Of Allegiance.  BA then explained that cheetahs don’t have to stretch when they go out and hunt/run so we won’t and took off for the weight room.  The PAX then learned that Deck Of Death was the activity of the day and things started.

WU: Nonexistent

-Pledge Of Allegiance-

Mosey to the weight room.

Circle up and find a spot in the weight room.

THE THANG:

Deck Of Death-

Deck of cards is put in the middle of the room and the PAX takes turns pulling a card and leading the exercise.  The number on the card equals the amount of reps 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, Jack=11, Queen=12, King=13, and Ace=14.  If my math is right and it usually isn’t that means every exercise is done 104 times per 1 deck.  We would stick with 104 reps, but some of the PAX did an audible and did their exercise in cadence, extra reps, and holding in position, which was appreciated by all to make things harder. (Thanks Dolph, Whoopie, and anyone else I forgot).

This morning we went 3 rounds with 18 PAX so we did A LOT.

  • Hearts= Burpees
  • Diamonds= Merkins
  • Clubs= Weighted Squats
  • Spades= CDD

There was no break through 2 rounds, but then we did a double count off.

At this time I believe Mayor actually let everyone know he would of rather been running, which never happens.

At some time during one of the last rounds BA called OMAHA and the PAX did 30 LBC’s in cadence and 40 Moroccan Night Clubs in cadence, and 10 JoBu’s (aka Monkey Humpers) in cadence. Then we continued with another round of Deck Of Death….

COT:

We were already over time so we skipped count off and just did the following:

Announcements: Upcoming Q’s and 2nd F opportunity at Hickory Tavern this Wednesday at 6pm

Prayers: Safe travels to everyone this holiday

Coffeeteria: 1 at Floyd and Blackies in Cramerton

Today was definitely a day where the workout looked better on paper.  I did enjoy the PAX pushing each other and watching the puddle of sweat and spit collect under me during this workout.  Needless to say I am hurting a bit as I type this and I love it.

Again it was my pleasure to lead the PAX today!

BackBlast- #TheStorm: The Return Of JoBu And Private Pyle…Oh That’s Just Godfather

13 PAX showed up to put in some work at #TheStorm early this morning.  The PAX thought we had 2 FNG’s, but soon realized that was not so.  JoBu returned after going missing (training/running a marathon) and Godfather was sporting a new buzz cut that made him look eerily like Private Pyle from Full Metal Jacket.  After everyone figured the above out it was time to begin.

BackBlast- #TheStorm 10/6/15: Trouble Lifting Your Coffee Cup This Morning?

It is always great to Q at the greatest AO in F3 nation. 16 Men (including 1 FNG) enjoyed the cool air and the feel of concrete in their hands this morning.   As advertised there wasn’t much running (1.5 miles), but there was an upper body beatdown. It was good to see the PAX encouraging and pushing each other throughout the workout.  My goal was to have the PAX have trouble lifting their coffee cups later in the day.

WU:

All in cadence

  • SSH x 25
  • Merkins x 10
  • LBC’s x 25
  • Prayer Squats x 10

Recover and Say The Pledge Of Allegiance

Partner up and get a cinder block.  Mosey inside the entrance gate and set cinder block down…. we had to work with math as an FNG showed up late and threw off our numbering.

THE THANG:

With Partner and Cinder Block-

  • Standing Chest Press x 300/Run to the press box and x5 Merkins
  • Curls x 200/Run to the press box  and x 5 CDD’s
  • French Curls x 100/Run to the press box x 5 Donkey Kicks (I liked hearing this in cadence)
  • Merkins on Cinder Block x 100/Run to the press box x 5 Merkins  (audible from 50 to 100)
  • Upright Row x 100/Run around the press box

Planking with right arm/right leg/left arm/left leg until PAX was done

In between each set we counted up and back…. at some points the counting got interesting and we thought we may have lost a guy, but all was good as we just realized our math is bad.

BackBlast: #The Storm 9/29/15- Wet T Shirt Contest

BB #TheStorm 9/29/15- Wet T Shirt Contest

As I was driving to #TheStorm for the F3 workout this morning I was wondering how many of the PAX would fart-sack due to the rainy conditions.  I was expecting 4 or 5 of the regulars to show and that is about it.  I had 2 workouts planned based on the weather (inside/outside), but as I pulled into the parking lot at SCHS I saw 14 men (including myself) ready to go.  Seeing this dedication I decided no matter how bad the weather got we were staying outside in the rain/gloom.

Note: We put in 2.5 miles in during this workout….. that may be a record for BA during one of his Q’s.

WU:

All in cadence

  • SSH x 50
  • Don Quixote’s x 10
  • Mountain Climbers x 10
  • Little Baby Dips (using curb) x 10
