Four

5 PAX posted for the end of the 40/50 challenge and swept the streets of Belmont clean for the CSAUP! We challenged ourselves to see who could find the weirdest thing. There were a lot of weird items we made up and lied about but it was decided the diaper was at least the worst thing.  Despite being grossed out we got it of the streets.

13 was the number for the boot camp. I’ll let you do the math here but by my count a lot more trash could have been cleaned up. Just sayin/not sorry!

Warmup:

Mosey to a nearby parking lot for some SSH and Don q’s. I didn’t have anything planned here so let’s get on with it.

Mosey to the bottom center area of the park.

The Thang:

Run the path all the way up to the middle school field and do 10 each of merkins, lunges, and WWI’s. Run back down and repeat. That’s one round….do 4 rounds.

Super quite this morning.

Mosey up to the field. Run a lap while the Q sets up some cones.

Bear crawl to each cone and at the cone do the exercise. Exercises at the cones were in this order 20 squats, 20 merkins, 20-4 count flutters, 20-4 count mtn climbers.  Run to the other end of the field and run the lap back to the start. Rinse and repeat. Do 4 rounds.

Still really quite. I guess these guys are just here to work. Tiger recognizes how weird it is when I don’t mummblechatter.

Mosey to the wall at the school.

Wall sits, then donkey kick ic and hold feet on the wall at the end(thank Pacman for this), rinse and repeat a few times. We threw some derkins in upon Boudin’s request. I introduced the dirty hookup to the crowd as well. That’s about time so lets mosey back to The Yank.

Finally a little trash talk began.

Prayer Request-Several family members battling sickness

Family Tree

9 PAX joined YHC for the boot camp at The Yank on Saturday. Wet Nutz originally had the Q but called in sick. Pockets had Q’d about every workout he could the past week and since I was leading the Food Ruck that morning he asked if I’d like to take the reins.

Warmup:

Let’s mosey. Stopped off at a Baptist parking lot for some warmup exercises I came up with on the spot. All I remember was Golddigger renamed In/Outs to penetrators.

Let’s mosey some more.

The Thang:

We found ourselves at the Greenwood cemetery.  There are three roundabouts and we did bear crawls, crabwalks, etc around them. Mosey to the bottom of the hill where I explained my Grandmother lived next door to the cemetery, our family has a plot here, and as kid I learned to ride  a bike here. CDD’s for when I flipped over the handle bars. Mosey to Grandma’s house. Her husbands name is Bob and he was a Marine for close to 30 years so 22 for the Vet’s. Over to my Great Uncle/Aunts house for more family stories and some zombie walks. Now for the hill on Faires Ave! This hill was terrible and we did it about 3 times. The third time we went to the former home of my Great Grandparents and Quiche requested we run the hill again. Mosey back to the cemetery to my family’s plot. Time to head back. Some PAX just love to run so they kept going while the rest of us stopped off for more exercises at the Baptist parking lot. Time.

Moleskin:

It was a pleasure to lead this morning. Great group of rock pushers out there this morning. We would have hit a few more family members if we had time. Of course we would have to climb the hill on Julia! All in all we put in about 3.5 miles. The word on the street is some PAX didn’t think I had that kind of mileage in my Q set. Well ya know I’ve been around for a while and just might surprise you sometimes.

Pre-Blast: Not so CSAUP CSAUP

Greetings gentlemen:  I hope all are recovering from the Thanksgiving holidays.  I know its hard to pursue the 40/50 challenge when there’s so much opportunity to fail.  However with the T-giving holiday behind us its time for the final push.  We have started strong and we need to finish strong!  So many have rediscovered living an austere life – Limiting the unnecessary excesses and becoming better men in the process .  Many have lost weight and all have  become healthier by limiting excessive calories.  If nothing else we will go into the new decade better men for our perseverance.  A big part of this challenge has also (for me) finding ways to give back.  Therefore with this in mind I would like to close out the challenge with a CSAUP.  On Saturday December 21 we will have the “Not So CSAUP  CSAUP” at all three AOs.  Post at the AO of your choice – Starting at 5am at Folsom and at 5:30 at Gashouse and the Yank we will ruck the surrounding community and pick up trash along the way.  The rucks will be led by Pockets at the Yank,  Big Pappy at Folsom and myself at Gashouse.  The rucks themselves will be challenging with stops for pain along the way.  The ruck will end by the time the regular bootcamps start (so plan on another hour of pain to follow the ruck).  If nothing else this final push will send you off into the end of year holidays feeling good about yourself.  So I challenge  you – don’t blow this off – Find the time to make the community and yourself better!

Cardio Yanked

It was a beautiful, brisk morning.  Caught several Pax lining up for EC.  Pockets and myself took a 2 mile mosey in addition to an additional walk.

14 Pax for the show, let’s mosey, no warm up required.  Right at the tracks I realized my first Q fail as I did not indicate to the learned Pax that I was indeed no professional.  Figured it was worth mentioning anyway.  Off we go, turns out Queen of the Apostle Catholic Church is about an 8/10 of a mile stretch.

Showing up nearly last, I heave a call to do the following:

11’s, Partner Booyah Merkin:  Shout out to Roscoe for true Booyah form.  Start at bottom of hill, 10 squats, mosey to the top and partner booyah merkin, 1 and counting up.   You can recall how the rest of this goes.  During one of my last stretch I encountered a not so friendly apostolic welcome from one of our parking saboteurs.  Knowing this, I figured our time was limited but really wanted to finish some mosey/relief exercises.

Hold’s:  No partners only group 1 and 2.  Group 1 runs full U-shape while group one holds plank.  Rinse and repeat for:

6″

Crab plank

Al Gore

Off to Suntrust we go, arrive.  Here I’ve saved the best of the worst for the week and Breaker Breaker Cooper River Bridge run steals the show.  A quite modified version, mind you.  Still in U shape pattern.  Location 1, 1 burpee, 1 squat, 1 beer (I mean merkin), run to location 2 and count up in same fashion.

Mosey to gravel parking lot and public farmers lot.  Think we have time to knock out a round of Dora.

Dora 1,2,3:  Merkins, LBC, Flutter kicks (I did not finish but think that some Pax may have)   Hmmm, me leading the beasts.

One minute til, thank goodness, I’m about to fall over.  With Pocket’s EC and this Bootcamp, my ever so handy 1990’s Vivofit registered 7.5 miles.  Who know’s, it may have actually been a bit more cardio than I cared for, who do I complain to about that?

Convergence 10/19/19

F3 Gastonia descended on Belmont this morning like vultures on roadkill.  As YHC was driving in, multiple PAX were spotted at various places around town getting in some EC and at 15 minutes before time there was already a good sized crowd ready to go to work. Too many PAX to warmup along the road so let’s head down to the pad and get started. No FNG’s, so the short version of the disclaimer was given and we did a quick warmup; 5 Burpee’s, 10 Imperial Walker’s IC, 10 Plank Jacks IC and 5 more Burpee’s. Painlabbers go with Watts Up and Boot Campers follow YHC..

I’m not sure what Pain Lab did, but I am sure that Watts Up pushed them. Since he started in January he’s been all in. He’s been a Q at multiple AO’s, taken a Site Q position, posts almost every day and continues to be a true HIM.. I saw kettle bells and a battle rope and heard there might have been some hill work and bear crawls. The suck factor was probably high.

Bootcamp took the long way to the Pit where we partnered up for some Dora 1-2-3. YHC wanted to work the upper body pretty good so we did 100 Dirty Hookups, 200 Hip Slappers and 300 Merkins. One partner performs the exercise while the other runs the length of the parking lot and back.  Mumble chatter was high during this part of the workout, all of it complimentary of the choice of exercises.

Stay with your partner for a little more wall work. One partner holds People’s Chair while the other runs across the lot and performs the set of exercises then flapjack.

Round 1 – 25 LBC’s

Round 2 – 25 Flutter kicks

Round 3 – 25 American Hammers

YHC’s time was up at this point and Pockets took over to finish us out. We moseyed over to Hawthorne Hill and Pockets called for a Triple Nickel. 5 Hillbilly’s at the bottom and 5 Squats at the top which was about 1/2 mile away.  Again, the PAX  praised Pockets for helping them get better running hills.

After the hill hill work we headed across the street for a sprint up the opposite side of Hawthorne and a zombie walk down Airline. Getting close to time at this point, so back to the Pad to meet up with Pain Lab for what we thought would be some Mary. Wrong! Pockets decided to call 5 Burpee’s about 10 times to finish up the workout.

Sister Act took us out.

After the workout YHC spoke for a few minutes on the importance of serving others.  We are all more blessed than the majority of Earth’s population and we are called to live by the example Jesus set for us.  Make a habit of putting others before yourself and serve with humility. A great leader is a better servant.

It was an honor to Q part of the workout and humbling to be asked to speak for the 3rd F portion.  Thanks to Sister Act and Def Leppard for reaching out and allowing me to play a part in a great event. F3 Gastonia is loaded with HIM’s and as I looked around during the workout I realized what a privilege it is to get to know and spend time with each of you.
