Warmup:

Blah blah it’s 5:30 in the evening you better be loose by now!

We grabbed some blocks out of Wirenut’s truck since he happened to have them left from his morning beatdown and headed to the bottom of the parking lot.

4 sets of 8 minutes. Do 25 reps then run to the end of the parking lot and back. Rinse and repeat for the 8 minutes. Rest for 2 minutes in between each set.

Midoriyama And Statistics

I pulled in early today to get some EC hoping to get my hamstring to loosen up some.  Defib was already out for his 5 miles of EC. No one else around so I took off. We both finished up with about 10 minutes before start and enough time to hear statistics  being thrown around about how many post you have versus how many post you could possibly have if attending every workout you could possibly attend. So your percentage may be higher than someone else that has more post than you. Statistically some of you will understand my explanation of this conversation but most probably will  not. I’m not a numbers man but I’m 99% sure can fix your air conditioner in your car.  While this was happening a FNG pulled up with a couple minute before start.  We welcome him and ask who EH’ed him. He has a friend in Hickory but was unsure of his F3 name but we think it is Happy Trees. Apparently Happy contacted our own Pizza Man and he was sent our way. Glad to have you man, it’s time to get started.

Warmarama:  Disclaimer was given and we get started. SSH, Hillbilly’s, and MNC’s waiting on Blart to eventually join us.

Thang:

With a short mosey to the lot beside the turd shack we begin with 10 hand release merkins, 10 LBC’s,10 CDD’s, and 10 squats take a lap then 20 of each exercise adding 10 till we get to 40 with a lap in between each set. A little mumble chatter about how CDD’s were named and how Freight wasn’t going to work on his soccer arms till after the SMR. I didn’t get that memo, not sorry Freight.

Mosey across the road to the parking lot for some 11’s Mike Tysons and Imperial Walker Squats there was some talk if I got these exercises from a certain canoe but I have to take credit this time. Freight confused Imp walkers for Hillbillies. He was getting the reps in quite fast

Mosey across the grass to a small hill for some triple nickel WW1 at top and Jump squats at the bottom.  With about 10 minutes to spare we head back to start for some PAX called Mary.

Anouncements: SMR needs some runners, lunch at Ray Nathan’s on Thursday 21st, whetstone site going live

Prayer request: my mom, Blart met a man that is partially paralyzed not sure of his relationship with the Lord, Broke’s MRI on Friday, I’m sure there are many other out there

Good push today men, great to have a FNG show, thanks for letting me lead today.

Welcome Rustoleum

Attitude at Midoriyama

8 strong Pax showed up at a breezy, warm Midoriyama. Broke was originally the Q but he asked for a fill in due to his back problems and I was glad to help out. The mumblechatterers started before the workout even began. Several jokes about how easy the workout was going to be, tapering for races, etc. Slaw ran a 5K EC. Coming in hot was Sister Act for a rare afternoon post. His arrival seemed to increase the mumblechatter. Imagine that. Broke wasn’t walking very well so he decided he would do some work on his own.

Warmup: SSH x 10 IC, Right over Left, Left over Right, Moroccan Night Clubs, Low Slow Squats.
Pledge
Mosey to the far parking lot rest room building in the shade for a “modified” Walls of Jericho. We would do ONE exercise, run a lap around both parking lots, return to the shady side of the building to hear a quote about Attitude from various sources.
7 burpees
7 LBC’s IC
7 Merkins IC
7 Low Slows IC
7 American Hammers IC
7 Military Merkins IC
7 Big boys IC

  1. I believe the single most significant decision I can make on a day-to-day basis is my choice of attitude. -Charles Swindoll
  2. It is not the body’s posture but the heart’s attitude that counts when we pray. – Billy Graham
  3. We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars. – Oscar Wilde
  4. Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow. – Helen Keller
  5. Attitudes are contagious. Is yours worth catching? – Unknown
  6. Great effort springs naturally from great attitude. – Pat Riley
  7. Funny is an attitude. – Flip Wilson

Mosey to a never before used hill in F3 Gastonia history on the first base side of Field #3 for a Triple Nickel. 5 squats at the bottom, 5 Merkins at the fence at the top, 5 times. I was the six by the time this one ended and needed Slaw to give a ten count.

Mosey the long way behind all three ballfields on the side near the woods stopping behind Field #1 at a nice hill for another Triple Nickel with Flutter Kicks on top and Moroccan Night Clubs at the bottom. Once again I am the six and need another 10 count from Slaw.

Mosey back to the flag for some Mary. LBC’s, certain Canoe called 10 burpees, Dying cockroaches, some others to close it out.

I reminded everyone about how many times the father’s attitude can set the daily tone for the family and to be very mindful of this. I learned this probably much later in life than I should and it is good to be reminded.

Blart took us out.

**Big thanks to all the Pax who came out today as it was a group of spirited, hard chargers. Blart was trying to sprint on the laps around the parking lot. Sister Act and Freight had lots of discussion about form and effort, who has it and who does not and also some who don’t care. Slaw found a softball while we were out and this led to a discussion of our church softball days where he and Blart and I played together for many years with many funny stories. Some did not appreciate all of the “attitude” quotes and disparaged some of them but I liked them all. The attitude quotes were mainly for me as I have been having some difficulties and need reminding to check my attitude. It was great to lead such a fine group!

Flaming Cropduster

9 total pax for a beautiful day at Midoriyama to suck in all the pollen that we could. Leppard had the Q but pushed his wife down the stairs again so he had to take her to the doctor. I’m always willing to step in so I dug through the archives and found one  that I had saved that I could tell was going to have a high suck factor. It did not disappoint.

Warmup:

SSH x 10ic- Broke is starting to look like a cross between Leppard and Tesla while doing these now

Low slow squat x 10ic

I’m not much on the warmup this late in the day so let’s get busy. We grabbed some blocks and hit the parking lot on the other side of the turd shack.

The Thang:

10 blockees-Oh the moans from the crowd!

20 Thrusters-yet again more moans

30 Hand Release merkins-the moans stopped as the pax let defeat settle in

40 Lunges(count each leg)

Run 2 laps around the parking lot

Rinse and repeat.

We did this for the entire time and it was terrible. I started blacking out at one point I really felt like I was going to go out. Mayor almost puked 13 times. Blart had a bet going for when Mayor would puke. Termite said he laid enough block and refused to pick one up. Oompa started but pulled a half flaming cropduster. He just walked off with his block to the woods. We thought he was going to leave but he came back eventually to do a modified version. Wirenut didn’t think it was hard enough and did his lunges on the curb so that they would be deeper. Speaking of deeper there was a surprising amount of sexual innuendo’s during this workout. I mean we usually have some but this one was a little disturbing at times.

This one was so good Blart even said goodbye to me. It was from his truck and he was giving me the California howdy but he did at least say bye!

A Taper, a Limp, and a Q go into this bar…

Ok, not really a bar but we did show up to make ourselves better at Midoriyama!  Bedpan was tapering for the P200 and wanted to “do something” rather than just rest before the race.   Broke showed for some EC but thinks he may have made his shin injury worse.  And I showed with the Q.  Not wanting to add insult to injury we took it a little easy and had some great fellowship to boot.

The Thang:

Warmup – IC 20 SSH / 1 Burpee / 20 Moroccan Night Clubs / 1 Burpee / 20 Imperial Walkers / 1 Burpee / 20 Monkey Humpers / 1 Burpee

Mosey to Big Soccer Field (mid-field) for Dirty 11s: Derkins / 1 Burpee / Jump-Squats
Mosey to K-9 Hill for Triple Nickel: LBCs / Calf Raises
Mosey back to flag-turd shack parking lot for Dora 321: Dying Cockroaches / Flutter Kicks / Shoulder Taps
Finish at the flag.

BROKE=51

10 peeps posted to Midoriyama  on Tuesday. A few did some soccer practice work while the others did the Broke hero WOD since it was his birthday.

Warmup:

SSH x 10ic

Don’s x 10 ic

Let’s mosey to the small soccer field

Broke’s WOD:

I thought of some different words or phrases that also mean broke then used those to find exercises. 51 reps of each exercise was completed for his age and after each we did the Wojo to the other side of the field and back. The Wojo is a side shuffle like basketball practice(since Broke was a baller back in the day) after every 5 steps bend down and slap the ground.

Bankrupt=Burpees(his least favorite) There was a less than stellar performance by the PAX here. I guess when you say 51 burpees right off the bat it takes the wind right out of their sail. There was lot of standing and talking by several. Hate to see it!

Wojo

As poor as a church mouse=American Hammer(his favorite)

Wojo

Destitute=Deconstructed burpee

Wojo

Impoverished=Iron Mike(jump lunge)

Wojo

Poor=Pretzel crunch

Wojo

Penniless=Peter Parker

Wojo

Down and out=Dirty Hookup

Wojo

Mosey back to the flag and finish with a minute and a half of burpees.

Some reasons Broke is my hero. Broke is a Godly man with strong faith. A good father whose dedication is represented by the good daughters he has raised. He is a dedicated and hard worker who is always willing to help someone out. He’s always respectful.

Most of the above was copied and pasted from July of 2020 when I created this WOD. I’ve got to add that since then Broke signed up for a half marathon just to support me in my effort. He trained long, terrible weathered, and route picked miles with me the whole way. Because of his support during training and his insistence on going out hot in the race I was able to far exceed my goal. Thanks #HAL

7 Hard

10 Pax total at Old School this morning. 7 got in some run or ruck EC. Blart was late. It was noted that Belmont invaded Dallas this morning. Where my allegiance would fall was questioned.

Warmup:

does it matter?

The Thang:

I informed the PAX we were going to do a 7 minute circuit and since it was only 7 I wanted them to go hard. Well you know she said that! Exercises were squats, half burpee, reverse fly, and merkins. Do a round of 10 each. Then a round of 9 each and just keep working down from there. Once you’re done do a hollow body hold for the remainder. This turned out pretty good. On the track we did 7 minutes of run work. 2 minutes at 80% then a 30 second break. 1.5 minutes hard then a 30 second break. 1 minute working our way down to a final 30 seconds hard.
After  this it was time to hit the town. We moseyed over to the First Pres church and did some reps. We made our way through town stopping at churches and runnings through the exercises from the previous churches. All of which  spelled church.
C-Cdd’s x 10ic

H-Hallelujah Squats x 20

U-Up straddle hop x 30

R-Reverse crunch x 40

C-Chillcut Peter Parker x 50

H-Hand release merkin x 60

That last one hurt a bit and may have driven some PAX into the valley as they just refused to do it.
Getting low on time we made the hard push back to the AO.

Get my drank on

8 total this Thursday at Midoriyama. A couple better than last Thursday. Why is our number on Thursday lower than Tuesday? Is it that the week is wearing on people so they stop posting? Are they posting in the morning? Evaluate why you are posting. Are you posting for yourself or your brother? Just some thoughts from someone that doesn’t matter.

Warmup:

Did some stretch/back work I saw on a runners world tweet. No I do not follow them because I am not a runner. It just showed up in my feed.

The Thang:

Mosey over to the parking lot for some ladders. The rep count on one side of the parking lot ascended 1-10 single digit at a time and on the other side descended from 20 to 0 by 2’s. Round 1 was Merkins and Squats doing a side shuffle in between. Round 2 was burpees and cdd’s with a high knee skip in between. It was supposed to be plank jacks but someone stole my paper hoping I would forget it had burpees on it. We took a slow mosey around the parking lot for recovery. Round 3 was jump lunges and mtn climbers with just a run in between. Mosey back to the turd shack. We set the timer on 1 minute intervals and did several rounds of wall sits and planks.

Prayer Request-Roundup, Gumby, Slaw as his daughter nears the age of 21,

The VID

As the afternoon temps start to rise, so does the difficulty of the workouts at the Gashouse JV site known as Midoriyama. Since it’s technically still Winter, even though it’s 70 degrees, I decided to keep the workout JV. After the disclaimer and a very short warmup, we headed off to the dam where the majority of the work was done.

Buy In – 19 Burpees

The “VID”

Corkscrews IC

Oblique crunches

V ups

Imperial Walker Squats

Diamond Merkins

19 reps of each exercise then run up the gravel road to the gate and back. Repeat for 3 rounds. No one is done until everyone is done so when you finish jump in with someone and push them to the end.

Cash Out – 19 Burpees

Finished up with a long mosey back to the flag.

5 PAX posted tonight at Midoriyama. 2 got some EC on the Mtn! I gave a Slaw a choice of wienkes. Leppard always says this is fake but I let him see there was indeed two. The other will be used next Thursday.

Warmup: it’s 5:30 you should be good by now!

The Thang: Mosey to the soccer fields for the Laredo WOD. 6 rounds of 24 squats, 24 merkins, 24 lunges(count one side), and run a lap. We headed back to the flag for 4 minutes of 30 second walk sits and 30 second lbc’s.
