8 showed up at Crossroads this Sunday. Some participating in the extra mile challenge and getting in the extra work. Some who said they would be there weren’t and stayed in the fartrecliner, I mean fartsack. The morning temps are getting cooler so it’s a lot better out there. After we meet and discussed candor, telling the hard truth, and why we lie. Great discussion this morning guys! See you next week, as I and hopefully some other Bourbon Chase runners, continue to ramp up for the race!

Light crowd with some regulars away so only 6 at Crossroads. 3 left early for a bike ride and 3 ran. The bike riders were chased by a chunky, black dog that looked kind of like a bear! Seuss and Round Up looked gassed when they returned and I should have got a picture of that as they rarely look tired. Pizza was flying around Dallas making it look easy as usual. 5 stayed for discussion on Trust. We discussed how we should all be striving to be the person, husband, father, friend, coworker and neighbor that people can trust.

I rolled in a little early this morning followed close behind by Gold Digger. He launched about 5:45 on a solo around D-town. PAX started to arrive shortly thereafter and it was only when Gumby rounded the corner of his truck sporting a bike helmet that I remembered that I had left mine again. I returned to the house to pick up said forgotten helmet then met back up w/ Gumby for a great fellowship ride. At one point during the ride we found ourselves in Tron’s driveway & recalling the fact that he had security cameras we couldn’t resist the opportunity to ride up to the house & around the backyard swimming pool just hoping that since he didn’t escape the fartsack that a little notification from Ring would wake his sorry self up. Fortunately, we were fast enough that despite the basketball goal obstacle & the tremendous urge to jump in to cool off we escaped prior to any guns being drawn! We returned to the parking lot to find the running PAX making their final approach. A quick round of announcements, the pledge, and COT and YHC prayed us out. It was on inside for a little Shared Competence for Q-Source.

YHC showed a little before 0600 to get in a few extra miles and Dr. Seuss and Purple Haze decided to join in. Gumby also showed early but since there were no other DBC members riding today, chose to go home for a quick wardrobe change into his running gear. We ran back through the start at 0630 and a total of 8 PAX headed out to log some miles.
Seuss and Pizza Man did their usual “easy” mid 7’s pace, Haze and SA decided to hang back with YHC while Def and Gumby enjoyed a little fellowship on their run. As with most Sundays, Wirenut appeared from the gloom just in time for the COT. Strong work men.
We followed up the run with a QSource discussion on Shared Leadership. If you haven’t been to the discussions at Crossroads or Coconut Horse on Sundays you’re missing out. Come out and join one of these groups next week, I promise you will not regret it.

I titled this BB The Struggle because it’s that time of year and I’m noticing it within the ranks. It is hot and humid as hell as soon as you walk out the door in the morning! This causes most of us to lose some performance, or so we think. It’s getting harder to breathe so we start walking instead of run and those long runs seem to get shorter as we submit to the uncallused mind. When we aren’t performing as well as we think we should we tend to give in a little and say things like why bother. Don’t give in men! Keep pushing. The fact is it is harder to breathe and it’s not you it’s the damn weather! If you have to dial it back just a bit then do that but keep pushing. When the weather cools down and the air gets drier you will see your performance come back and possibly excel past where you were before the summer. I’ve always said at Midoriyama this time of the year is when we build. Suffer now and reap the benefits later.
YHC rolled into the parking lot prepared for a little solo bike ride, or so I thought… dang it, forgot the helmet again! Following the ridicule I received from Mayor the last time and the fact that I am a “Safety Guy” I decided to sit and read up on the day’s QSource Qpoint (Correction) when a few minutes later in rolled Broke. I decided to join him for an 80% 5K as a warm up for the Jacked Up Leg 5K later. As we rolled back into Ingles the lot was busy with HIMs. 11 in all showed for the fundraiser 5K.
Broke quickly decided to complete his 100% with a blistering 7:05 out the gate but Balljoint would have nothing of the sort so round about the college entrance he decided he had carried YHC long enough and set his sites on the lead HIM. Within short order, a homicide was committed before my very eyes as Balljoint implemented an excellent kill shot… but of course by this time I was far enough back I probably would not be considered a creditable witness in a court of law! As the battle raged, I came across several other PAX puttin the work in. Gave a shout out to Termite as I didn’t realize he was back from his western sabbatical. All said and done, Balljoint was awarded the prestigious “Jacked Up Leg” along with a couple of new PRs for himself and others. Some heavy rock pushin was done today… nice work men! Now inside for the QSource.

4 PAX posted on a wet Father’s Day at Crossroads. Round-up and Seuss took off together while Freight and I went on a fellowship run trying to fix the worlds problems. I guess everyone else was scared to get wet…little did they know that it didn’t rain but for a second the whole run. During QSource, we had a strong discussion on “Accountability” which was definitely missing on this Sunday!!
Great work from those that posted!!
Announcements:

Post-script: The winds have shifted pushing my sails elsewhere and at the end of this month I will be headed out into the great unknown. I don’t know where I will end up for this next chapter of my life, but am excited for whatever that may be. I want to thank each of you for sharing life with me for the past year. I genuinely value the time spent working out and talking trash with each of you. Since our time has been limited we may not have developed deep relationships, but I can honestly say that each of you in your own ways have transferred some positive habits or characteristics to me and I am grateful for it. So thank you for allowing me to be a part of F3. Men helping each other through being authentic in their struggles and victories is not common. There are many things that I appreciate about what y’all have going here, but I am most grateful for how you care for each other and genuinely do your best to encourage each other to be better, not just physically but in all areas of life.

Memorial Day has passed which means that Freight’s Bike Club has officially started! This is one of the most exclusive clubs in Gaston County and there are very strict guidelines to be eligible for membership. I’m not sure what they are, but I believe one of them is that you must have a bike. If you’re interested please see Freight and he will explain the application and qualification process in more detail.
12 PAX either joined the bike club or got in a run and all ended up better. Wirenut came out of the gym and joined in for QSource.
