As the leaf turns

10 at Crossroads this morning for some running. I chose the big loop around. The bat flippers including those on the 80/20 plan were already gone so 6 of us set out. As we went around the gate at the college SA decided to practice his JJ5K plan and tried shoving me in the woods. Despite this act of violence I turned the leaf right back over and forgave him.  Heading up the tower lane a skunk crossed our path so we slowed the pace to let it get by. All of a sudden SA grabs me and throws me between him and the skunk. Yet again I let it go and turn the leaf back over. This is the nature of our relationship. He constantly does things to try and antagonize me and I just keep turning the leaf, he flips, right back over. As we discussed at Q-Source this morning the best way to influence someone is by word and deed. I hope that someday my deeds will ignite a palpable desire for change in him.  I recognize he has to want it and I can’t make him change but I can influence him.

Small Crowd for Crossroads

I rolled (literally, on my bike) into the parking lot this morning apparently unaware of the memo advising that not many HIMS planned to show this morning for Crossroads… must’ve been the Qs reputation!  Saw one truck I recognized (sorry Termite didn’t know you had gotten a camper shell, we need hook you up with Allen Tate for some extra F3 stickers) and Broke was out gettin some EC.  A few HIMS started to filter in and at 6:30 we launched.  We all reconvened back in the parking lot (congrats to Wirenut for finishing his 1st 5-miler) for announcements and COT then headed inside for QSource on Live Right.

Crossroads 02-May-21

Good morning,

Lots of guys came out on a beautiful Sunday morning and put some sweat equity in.  Several stayed around for coffee and “Study” at Q Source.  Thanks to those gentlemen because I rob a little from everyone to try and make myself just a little bit better every day.

Announcements:  Freights toothbrush/paste and bandaids for May, Roundup 50 Miler in Dallas NC again on Labor Day and will be teaming up with some soldiers from Fort Bragg (Not Alone Foundation), Give out food the next day potentially, May 22 Star type ruck (ask BOS for more information).

Prayers:  Breaker Breaker for daughter in law looking for job, SA, Nolly (not sure about spelling), Broke daughter looking for job, Gumbys mom.

Praise:  Breaker, Broke and Wire Nut with 2.0s graduating school.

Is That a Bear?

Beautiful morning in Dallas NC for a run! 10 Pax ran toward the college. While in the college loop we see through the gloom a large animal standing in the road! Is that a bear? No, it’s a huge dog and when it hears us it takes off into the woods. I was told it looked like a Bernese Mountain dog. On our way back, we notice a “Dog Missing” sign with a picture of our dog on it. Little did I know but our boy Sister Act, ever the compassionate pet lover having three dogs himself, got the number and called about the sighting. After some voice mails and a few other exchanges, the person tells him that this dog has been from South Mountain to Shelby and is now in Dallas. They also ask him to call Animal Control himself to report this at which point he is out. He tried to help. Good job SA!

Q Source was on Prayer. We read through the main points of the importance of Prayer in whatever faith you may have. I also read a recent post Dredd had on his Collision Learner blog which I thought was just great, pertaining to prayer. It is short and worth a read. Here is the link.

The 2021 Tronmoss 5k

Thanks to the 14 men who posted at Crossroads for the 2021 edition of the Tronmoss 5/10k. A bit of a Q fail in this one as I should have set an earlier start time for the 10k. We live and learn! The main thing is we helped support a young lady and family who has gone through an awful situation. Learn more about the story here if you haven’t heard it already.

The winners are as follows:

Overall: Ball Joint with a 5k PR and the win
Pax Division: Montross, running his first 5k in the 8s in quite some time
Respect Division: Oompa Loompa – the ol’ Marine represents for the silver tops
10k: Dr Seuss – technically Haze and Slaw were considered ineligible by the race committee since they left early, but we will make adjustments for an earlier start time in the future. Let’s be honest though, Seuss would have won anyway!
Also, special thanks to BOS, Pilgrim’s Progress, and Orangeman for making their way across the county to ruck the event.

We raised over $300 to contribute to Tori (the daughter of the victim). All in all, over 5k was raised and donated between F3 ENC, FiA, and a few other groups. Nice work men. I know this personally meant a lot to 4-Leaf and some of the other guys down in F3 ENC and it is cool to see guys from 250+ miles away chip in and help out other communities like you did. I appreciate all of you who came out as well as those of you who contributed online!

Prayer requests: There were many. Sister Act and other guys battling injuries, the GSM family and especially the families of Mr Lewis and Shook, Turtle Man, and several others (sorry, I didn’t make a list). YHC took us out in prayer. BTW, I really dig the prayer list channel on Slack. Props to whomever crated that. Check that out if you haven’t!

Crossroads 11-APR-21

Great weather for work and learning.  Thanks to everyone who participated in the F3 Dads service (Trash Pickup).  Blart continued the work today by picking up a receipt.  I question his motives as he specifically called our names to make sure we saw that he got credit for it.

I will apologize for any missed prayer requests as Purple Haze called me during the recording.  Why you ask?  Because he is technologically deficient.  I called him to make sure I had his phone stored this morning while he gave me the number.  He is the only person on slack with two IDs and doesn’t check either.  He decided to call me back so he would have the number on his phone???? What???  You have to love this stuff.  Everyone stayed around and discussed Whetstone at Qsource

Prayers:  Freights nephew (arm), GSM Family and all those affected, Sister Act, Gumby’s Mother
