7 posted at Midoriyama despite the warning of bear crawls and crab walks. 1 did have a bit of an attitude that really came out in his tone of voice. I’ve noticed people don’t seem to hear themselves in this way. This individual had this same tone and attitude the whole workout. Maybe he was having a bad day I don’t know but it’s ok that he used me as his personal punching bag. I’m here for you brother. However I can help.
Warmup:
1 SSH ic
Mosey
The Thang:
We stopped at the end of the road for 21 reps of merkins, WWI sit ups, and lunges

Mosey to the lower end of one of the long parking lots for 11’s. Bear crawl 10 spaces run to the other end of the parking lot and crabwalk 1. Do this for 11’s.
Broke didn’t seem pleased but he doesn’t have a hernia so he can’t blame it on that anymore.
COT:
Announcements-Convergence at Folsom 1/9, food ruck this Saturday, 10 mile 10 year anniversary run/ruck on 1/1
Namerama
Prayer Request-Sargento took us out
Given the weather and COVID, YHC expected the numbers to be low. With one minute to go, it looked like it was going to be a one-man show. (or probably get back in the truck…)
Wait! Is that a one-headlighted Honda pulling in!?!
Much to my joy (and disappointment), another PAX has braved the temporary circumstances to get in some fellowship and work.
With no one else in sight, we move to the old bank for some cover and a little warmup.
WarmUp:
15 SSHs IC
15 LBCs IC
15 Merkins
Armed with Deck ‘o Death we mosey up the parkway to Robinson Elementary.
Two cards were drawn. One exercise was done at one blue double doors, the other one at the other set of blue doors, with a mosey in between.
Aces are 100
Royals are 25
Numbers are 10+ the number.
(Really need to find out what the “Luge” is)
Announcements and COT were done at the school.
Mosey back to the cars…
My intended (and gratuitously stolen) workout was intended to be the 12 days of F3 done in a spot hereto unused. Maybe I will Q again this season…
Until next time.
Watts Up Powering Down
Twenty men jumped out of bed this chilly morning, nearly half of them clocking in early at The Storm for some EC miles. 0530 was upon us so we kicked it into gear. It went something like this.
Warm up –
Side Straddle Hop x 20 IC
Grass Pickers x 20 IC
Mountain Climbers x 15 IC
Merkins x 15 IC
Enough of that, times a ticking!
Mosey to the back gate for some NUR AB instructions.
NUR up the pathway to the concession stand for 30 American Hammers.
Run back down the path to the gate. NUR back up for 30 LBCs.
Run back down the path to the gate. NUR back up for 30 Crunchy Frogs.
Run back down and plank for the six. I think the hill got longer each lap.
Mosey around behind the school and reassemble at the front traffic circle for some 11s up the hill to the entrance traffic circle and back. Quick look at my watch and a confirmation from Orangeman. Audible! Make that 7s. With that we were off! One Merkin at the bottom circle, run up the hill to top circle for 6 Burpees. Back down for 2 Merkins and back up for 5 Burpees… You know how this is going to end.
Lots of pushing this morning! Great work guys! We put in 3.4 miles not counting all that EC leftover from the November challenge. No time for Mary today we may have run over a few minutes.
Announcements –
Food Ruck this Saturday! (see preblast)
Bring your ruck and some money. Don’t have a ruck we will double bag your purchase! Not the rucking type, bring some food to the regularly scheduled beatdown.

Thanks for the opportunity to lead. Hope you got your moneys worth. It looked better on paper.
Note to self. NUR before RUN = SUCK!
BOS
… and apparently former ones still don’t.
It was good to see the Pax that showed up this morning, but especially Tater Hole (haven’t seen him out at Folsom in a while) and Mayor (who outside of a 2.0 workout and this past Saturday I don’t think I have ever seen him post to Folsom in the almost 2 years I have been out there).
It’s interesting though… I bet Mayor asked at least 4-5 times what we were doing. He then got really confused when I had to leave early and I asked Bedpan to take over to finish the workout. However, I told the men that we’d be doing a few different things and also there were some responses to questions that showed me he had heard what I had said. So, maybe it’s that Politicians listen… just they don’t always pay attention.
I am totally picking on Mayor. He wasn’t the only one not paying attention. I guess that’s what happens when you mumble chatter while the Q is talking and you can’t multi-task.
The Warm Up:
16 Gravel Pickers – in cadence (called 20, but then shortened to 16 to see if the Pax were awake and paying attention)
5 Flow Steps (or as I was calling them “Dark Knight Rises”) – each leg – in cadence
5 Turkish Getups – each side
The Thang:
Mosey to light post: 20 shoulder touches
Mosey to Vet Road (or somewhere in between): Add 5 burpees (or flying squirrels) to the 20 shoulder touches
Mosey to track fence: Add 20 Mountain Climbers to the burpees and shoulder taps
Mosey to Flag
Pledge
Sorta Jacked Up:
20 SSH
15 Seal Jacks
15 Plank Jacks
15-ish Little Gumby’s in the Woods (aka Smurph Jacks)
(it seems I can’t squat very low and still get a SSH in and the Q’s form was questioned… I could feel it in my quads for sure, but started laughing and my cadence count got off (plus no one was counting at that point either – possibly from laughter.)
Fellowship Mosey to the Parking Lot
20 – Carolina Dry Docks
20 – Flutters
20 – Plank Jacks
40 – Fast High Knees with arms
20 – LBCs
20 – Werkins
20 – American Hammers
40 – Fast High Knees with arms
20 – Mountain Climbers
20 – Freddy Mercurys
20 – Bobby Hurleys
40 – Fast High Knees with arms
20 – Lazy Mike Tysons (Stogie-fied) plank to horizontal squat – no push-up)
20 – Gas Pumps (Stogie-fied) in-out-together)
10 – Peter Parkers
10 – Parker Peters
40 – Fast High Knees with arms
I was out of time at this point. I asked Bedpan to take over and have the Pax do Iron Hulks and some Mary – though, I don’t think he was listening. I did mention they could run to the Waffle House, as long as they actually ran there and back. He decided to go the opposite way, back towards the COT.
I saw they stopped along the way to do Monkey Humpers and Nolan Ryan’s as I was heading out.
Thanks men for allowing me to lead and trying a few new things. Hopefully it wasn’t too JV for the bat flippers. If you have some suggestions for something better just let me know. I actually take constructive criticism well (as long as it’s constructive) – probably a good thing with this group and their mumble chatter.
Until next time fellas, SYITG…
~Stogie
Apparently only a few PAX believed that YHC could deliver on a starry sky during a rain storm…. well, yall were right. HOWEVER, we hardly had any rain whatsoever! Turned out to be a lovely morning. Let’s begin.
Disclaimer, Pledge

Prayer request: Pray for Officer Herndon and his family.
Announcements: Convergence on Jan 9, 7:00 – 8:00 @ Folsom. All other AOs closed.
Over and out.
17 men posted to see what Bedpan had in store for us. To their surprise Bedpan didn’t want to share his weinke with us. 6:30 rolled around and no Bedpan. If you know me I like to Q so I stepped right on in to the middle of the circle. I think a few people volunteered to Q but I ignored them. I may have even pushed a few people down( now I know what it feels like to be Dr Seuss)(see V2V BB). Anyway we got on with it!
Warmup:
Who knows it was made up on the spot but it bought me some time to think of something to do for the thang.
The Thang:
Mosey to the gazebo for a story about my engagement. We did some pickleish pounders and some dying cockroaches.
Mosey to the flag at the AG center. LBC’s and the pledge.
Mosey down to one of the fresher paved parking lots. 11’s with bear crawls and crab walks. Bear crawl 10 spaces run to the other end of the parking lot and crab walk 1. Rinse and repeat in 11’s fashion. I was planning this for Midoriyama on Tuesday so this was a good test run. There was some good mumble chatter during this. Talk of pastoring, folsom jerky, and I think thongs.
Mosey over to the road where there were 2 speedbumps about 100ish yds apart for some more 11’s. Hand release merkins and squats or drinking birds for some of you(you know who you are).
Mosey to the steps. 10 calf raises per step. SSH while you wait your turn at the top and the bottom. I think there was 10 steps so 100 total. It’s Monday now and my calves are sore! It was noted that those that went first didn’t do a lot of SSH while they waited for the 6(you know who you are).
Just a few minutes to go we started the mosey around the back of the park. When we got to the pavilion I asked Roundup if we had time to get around the lake and he said of course! Partially around the lake someone said we only had a minute left. YHC responded you better hurry then! Classic Freight ami right? All in all we covered somewhere around 3.5 miles depending on the watch.
COT:
Namerama-There was some smack talk and some surprised looks as the PAX expressed how they felt about bedpan not showing up.

Moleskin:
Bedpan called while we were at the kitchen. He is in the middle of a huge remodel and I think he said he was sleeping in the bathtub but I may have misunderstood. He said he wrote down the wrong date on his Q. It doesn’t really matter because he’s going to catch some crap for it no matter what. That’s just how we roll. That being said while we should take our responsibilities seriously there should never be an issue with someone stepping into the leadership role. We are a leadership building group right! Life is going to throw us curve balls(man I hate baseball). This time it was Bedpan. The next time it may be me.
We had 4 Hims show up for Painlab. We did a 18X3 exercise with 50 seconds of work and 10 seconds to transition. Starting with grass pickers, moracin night clubs, side straddle hops, Don Quijote’s, squats, low punches in a squat position, overhead presses, lunges around the Indian, tricep dips, step ups, incline pushups, reverse merkins, dying cockroaches, imperial walkers, American hammers, flutter kicks, reverse crunches and superman’s. Great work men!
15 at the Goat to venture into the dark, where only one man was wise enough to bring a light (and it sure wasn’t YHC).
Got in a couple miles of EC with Watts Up and Dirt, and we’d just finished up when the cars kept rolling in. A solid turnout for the Goat, and a good morning for a beatdown.
The Thang:
Pledge, and we’re off.
First up, the Sizzle Suicide. For those that missed the last time, a refresher:
After an impromptu round of Flutter Kicks, we continued down 8th, away from downtown. We turned down 10th St, just before the church and made our way to the back side of the colesium where an ideally placed picnic shelter was waiting.
For the Main Course today, we did the following:
We did the first round together (to make sure YHC didn’t leave anything out), then 4 more OYO for a total of 5 rounds. The coliseum must have taken it out of Boudin, as he had to run. The PAX pushed hard as most committed to the Box Jumps though alternates were given, but YHC must admit to being more winded than expected. It was also crazy dark down there, so it wasn’t easy to see those that weren’t nearby, so who knows what the PAX actually did.
We meandered to what, in hindsight, must have been a T-ball field, because it wasn’t very big at all. That meander was YHC’s last good decision of the day. I used to like running bases, as a ball player and a coach, and so I thought we could get in a round of bases to wrap things up. That was a mistake for a number of reasons.
I think it’s going to be a while before we run bases again on account of YHC.
After the victory, and with a little spring in our steps, YHC chose to take us home by way of–the steps. Not on the Weinke. Not like we weren’t just aimlessly walking through a dark T-ball field looking for keys. Let’s take the long way back too. Big, dumb mistake. Sure, we got up the stairs and hauled back to the flag, but by the time we got there, it was 6:18, and we launched into the COT

Moleskin:
Everybody’s different, and for some people it works, but I make some of the dumbest decisions when acting impulsive. And it just takes one dumb impulsive decision to sour something that’s going well. I plan to be ready to lead, and sure, there are plenty of times and reasons to adapt the plan on the fly, but to make changes impulsively and for no reason is not part of executing the plan. No matter how well, or poorly, things are going, making decisions, especially as a leader, that are not on mission can have consequences. Lesson learned.
I’m a big fan of the Goat, but I’m becoming a fan of a lot of the AO’s and am wanting to get out and see the parts of F3 Gastonia that I haven’t seen yet. There’s a lot of good work out there, and I’m just proud to be part of the ballclub. Thanks for another opportunity to lead.
Yabba Dabba Doo
It was a perfect morning to push the rock and with it being the holiday season YHC wanted to make things a little festive. 22 HIMs filled the sidewalk at The Fighting Yank so when time came, this is what happened.
Disclaimer
Pledge of Allegiance
Warmup: Goofballs, Don Quixote, Lego Picker Uppers (slight naming variation of the old standby)
YHC dipped into the luxury sedan to pick up the tunes. And we’re off.
Mosey over to the road beside the railroad tracks for a Route 66 of Jingle Balls. Look it up, great exercise for high reps, especially when bear crawling from parking line to parking line, which we did.
Wait for the 6 to arrive and then mosey down to the Pit for the Thang.
12 Days of Christmas with Sargento’s Christmas playlist. It was lit!
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me… Singing was required and the PAX obliged.
1 Burpee (stupid burpees)
2 Sumo Squats
3 WWI Sit Ups
4 Merkins (from the president of the MHC no less)
5 Bobby Hurleys
6 V-Ups
7 CDDs
8 Squats
9 LBCs
10 Dips (on flat ground, oh well…)
11 Lunges each leg
12 Shoulder Taps each shoulder
This was a great routine with plenty of mumblechatter but it didn’t take too awfully long so we moseyed up the road to the shopping district of Belmont.
At YHC’s direction the PAX would stop and do 10 Derkins and 10 Monkey Humpers. We did this up the sidewalk, crossed over and back down for a total of 6 stops.
Mosey back to the Pit for another round of the 12 Days of Christmas except in reverse. It was fun and the PAX got it’s money’s worth for sure!
Fellowship mosey up to the parking lot outside of the jailhouse for a few minutes of Mary and we’re done! Way to push men, Merry Christmas!!!
Announcements: Salvation Army bell ringing (call Sargento), Convergence January 9, Ruck for Cans EC before all workouts next Saturday at 5:30.
Prayer Requests: Tiger & family, Easy Rider, Double Stuf, Orangeman’s daughter’s surgery, end of semester exams for students, family of and community for Mt Holly Police Office Herndon’s passing
