Valentine’s Day on The Halfpipe

We ran from one hill top to the other and then back again. The fellowship made the time go by quick. Great to see Gastone back out for a second straight week.

As we start to get into race season, this is a great training run that’s pretty secure in the neighborhood. Just a few knuckleheads that find Stop signs optional at 0550 in the morning. Look forward to seeing you out there next week.

Axe throwing at Folsom

Warm up: it was proper 😁
Then moseyed past the triangle stopping at each pole for 5 LLB’s
When we reached our destination there was an axe throwing target and 4 throwing axes each axe would represent reps round 1:if it sticks =1 rep if not 5 reps when all the pax had a turn we started round 2: sticks =5 reps if not 10 reps we worked through a list of standard exercises. Stogie almost lost an axe he must’ve been pissed and threw it out into the wild blue yonder 😁.Wirenut dropped all 4 on the ground and made us do all the reps 🤷‍♂️. We made it through 2 rounds and time was short so we headed back to the flag we had 30 seconds left so Wirenut called out 22 for the vets. Time! This was fun it was different from the norm and we put in some work. We pledged did announcements took prayer requests: wirenuts family, crop dusters friend recovering from bike car collision, purple haze coworker,Huck, big Pappy, sorry if I missed any but God remembers all. Thanks for the chance to lead men it was a pleasure like always.

The Storm 2/14/23

Lots of Love at The Storm on Valentine’s Day!  Begin with the mission of F3 “To plant grow and serve small work out groups for men, for the invigoration of male commnity leadership.”   Pledge.

Warm up of SSH, IW, gravel pickers, arms circles, burpees and some stretching.  Breaker Breaker was kind enough to bring some blocks  for the morning festivities, thank you Breaker!

Grab blocks and head to the side parking lot.  Modified four corners – divide into four groups- each corner has a list of exercises totaling 100 reps, each pax does all exercises.  Once all are complete run to the next corner.  Corner one was all blocks -10 blockie, 20 squat thruster, 30 swings, 40 curls.   Corner 2 10 blockie, 20 hand release merkins, 30 sand bag squats, 40 lbc.  Corner 3 -10 blockie, 20 diamond merkins, 30 smurf jacks, 40 high knees.  Corner 4 – 10 big boys, 20 burpees, 30 toe touch jacks, 40 merkins.  Run between stations with your team.

All groups got in one full round, one station of round 2, and partial second station of round 2.

Grab the coupons and head back to flag.

Show of hands on who attends Q Source, another show on who has done a Grow Ruck Training Event.  Several attend Q Source, but many do not, likely representative of the pax in the region as a whole.  Q Source is a really good curriculum developed by Dredd that defines personal growth and leadership.  The workouts are just the starting point.  Grow Ruck events are really good at pulling together the tools in a big picture way.

Our region has had very little participation in Grow Ruck.  This year’s schedule is published.  There are two single day events, with one being on June 10 in Charleston.  Urge everyone to give an event some consideration.

Announcements: Extinction run March 4, Viking Dash coming up at Poston Park, 2nd F lunch later this month, Q vs Q tournament – voting closes 2/18.

Prayer requests: Turtleman, Huckleberry, Breaker Breaker father in law, Radar sister, Tooth Fairy daughter, Wirenut family, Boudin and family, Stinky Bird cousin and father, Tiger mother and brother

A Good Morning for some Yoga

Chilly 35 degrees, clear, and dry.  Once we got going it really felt just right.  It is Vanletines Day.

In the past YHC has Qd yoga workouts from time to time.  It usually seems to be accepted with a little hesitation and maybe thought of as not being strenuous enough for the tastes of the a large portion of the PAX.  In the end when the workout is over the guys typically agree that it was a better workout than expected and a refreshing change of pace.  The stretching has benefits as well.  For thpse reasons YHC does try to mix a yoga workout into the rotation.

We mixed in SSH’s, merkins, mountain climbers, and keroke to keep the heart rate up.
