Fitness, Fellowship, Faith

Day: December 10, 2021

Blart was NOT Here!

I arrived a few minutes early to plant “Ole Glory” in her rightful corner before a quick warmup.  I saw where the 3 amigos had already launched on what I’m sure was promised to be a “slow 9” for 8 or so miles.  Next the dynamic duo took off on their typical fellowship mosey but no hurry of course, as they could take a 15 minute penalty and still clock more miles than the rest of us.  Oh but then I look and see a new face… well at least I thought it was with my memory but turns out it was Freon, you know the Mt. Hollyian.  He was sporting some pretty cool running gear and looking for a Crossroads regular… Blart.  Apparently he was EH’d the night before to come join us so I offered to wait a few minutes to see if he was just running late.  A couple of minutes pass but still no Blart so we took off on a good 5er heading out of town, around Deadman’s Curve, by the Pita Wheel, and back to the start.  I promised Freon I’d be sure to give Blart a hard time in the BB but unfortunately its taken me so long to get back around to writing it, I have to go easy now since Blart agreed to lead the crew for this Sunday’s Q-Source on Missionality.  I had a great time burning a few calories with Freon and poking a little fun at a true HIM!

Never Underestimate the Power of God

O’ the places we went, the things we saw

A good time surely was had by all

We had warm-up and a workout and some Mary to end

But the fellowship we share is the best time to lend

No, it’s not easy, nor should it be

For the best things in life are never free

We saw a speech when it all was put to rest

To remind the Him’s, that God can use whatever is your best

God can do great things with what we think is not much

Just give Him the chance, He will change it bunch

After the workout I showed the video below of Ernie Johnson Jr.’ speech to the Alabama football team at the beginning of the football season.  The lame rhyme above is due to Ernie Johnon commencement address at the Univ of Georgia 2017 Spring commencement where he created a commencement rhyme from Dr Seuss’ O The Places You’ll Go.

There are many life lessons in the five-minute excerpt  included, but to me there is one overriding message:  Trust God with whatever you have, no matter how little or how much, He will multiply in ways that will impact a bunch.

Prayers for Broke’s mom and family, Tiger’s M and stepsons, those who struggle in the holiday season

YHC took us out

Rinse & Repeat but Different

Twelve joined YHC when the clock arrived at 0530.  (Technically eleven, Tesla as late, I guess that what happens when you get um… cough… well… anyway…)

Start off with The Pledge of Allegiance, then into warmup.

Arm Stretches, both arms.
Arm Circles
That thing where you are in a plank and put R Foot to R Hand…

Pause for Flintstone to put on his other shoe (that was in his car before this point)?!?

Let’s mosey to Davis Park.

YHC has planned to use the darker (is that possible a Tequila Sunrise), longer part of the parking lot, but it was parked solid with paving equipment, so the we had to settle for the short hillier (is that word) section.

Partner Up

P1 runs to the light and back, P2 lunges toward the light.  When they meet, switch.

Basically that idea is how it went for the rest of the time.

Modes of transportation used in addition to lunge:

Bear Crawl
Side Lunge
Reverse Lunge

Exercises done either at every spot or every line or every other line:

Squats & Calf Raises
CDDs
Merkins
Monkey Humpers
Drinking Birds
Burpees
Maybe one more,

LBCs were suggested, but vetoed initially.

Mosey back to the school and managed to fit a few LBCs to finish the time.

Watts Up Powering Down.

Lead with the Jab

There was some hating on your boy this morning.  Let’s start there.  At the end of the workout, there was some iron sharpened I guess you could say.
Comment #1 – When mentioning my next Q, “maybe we can get a real workout then
Comment #2 – “I didn’t get a heart rate until the very end”
Comment #3 – “I haven’t been at a boot camp in a while so I wanted to come to your Q and ease back into it”
Comment #4 – “There was a lot of running for you”

You could feel the love.

Here is the work.  Sargento had some cancer removed so he was on IR, but came out to support us and went where we did, but had to take it easier. We had music so he carried the load.
