Tabata With T-Ron – Folsom Edition

Back in the Gloom…dang it feels good! I was honored that Big Pappy asked me to Q a Saturday. We know Saturday at Folsom will bring well over 10 PAX so props to Pappy for lining up some Qs to help split the group with me and thanks to Oompa Loompa and Hacksaw for stepping in. I brought the weinke, we all brought the pain!

We haven’t had many join The Matrix on Saturdays since reopening and didn’t expect many today….but we leave no man behind!!!!! After talking it over with him earlier this week, HIPAA joined us virtually via Zoom and worked out alongside us. Tip: It is sometimes hard to hear a group online but an iPad seems to help. As we circled up, we always kept 1P2A close by. Thanks for joining 1P2A!!!!!

Hacksaw has an FNG and also asked to handle the workout so I obliged!

Warmup:
10 Burpees
20 Merkins
30 Side Straddle Hops

  • Then do 4 sets of each exercise listed.

Pain Lab VQ 2020

This was my first time Qing Pain Lab… the second best AO in the nation, next to Folsom.  😀

Tha Thang:

We started out with a lunge walk that followed the dinosaur foot prints painted on the parking lot.
– Our first stop we warmed up with 40 shoulder taps (20 each arm)
– We bear crawled to the second stop where we did 5 burpees (or flying squirrels (Pax choice))
– More lunge walking to the third stop where we did 20 mountain climbers
– More bear crawling to where we circled up for the real workout

20 – Carolina Dry Docks (CDDs)
20 – Flutters
20 – Plank Jacks
40 – Fast High Knees with arms

20 – LBCs
20 – Werkins
20 – American Hammers
40 – Fast High Knees with arms

20 – Mountain Climbers
20 – Freddy Mercurys
20 – Bobby Hurleys
40 – Fast High Knees with arms

20 – Windshield Wipers
20 – Merkins
20 – Mountain Climbers
40 – Fast High Knees with arms

20 – Lazy Mike Tysons (Stogie-fied) plank to horizontal squat – no push-up)
20 – Gas Pumps (stogie-fied) in-out-together)
10 – Peter Parkers
10 – Parker Pers
40 – Fast High Knees with arms

We went around the circle with 10 Pax doing Iron Hulks (1 merkin to 4 air presses)

We then did Lt. Dans (4 lunge walks to 2 squats (I said one squat, but Rudolph got folks confused so we two)) following the dino tracks to the lower part of the parking lot and back.

Rinse and Repeat of the grouped workouts above, but in reverse order.

We then did hillbilly lunge squats (2 lunge walks to 1 hillbilly squat) following the dino tracks to the lower part of the parking lot and back.

We circled up in time to do 20 mountain man pooperz and for half the Pax to call out an exercise to finish up (I said no burpees, but two of the Pax called 10 burpees anyways… whatever, with my bad back and feelings of being spent YHC did more squats #YouVersusYou).

We met back up with the group from the bootcamp and finished with the COT.

While I don’t think this was a slopper-knocker, ball-bust’n beat down… I think the fact the temp changed to 5-10 degrees hotter within the first 30 minutes workout and the good company, and decent tunes (thanks Bed Pan for letting me barrow your speaker) I delivered what I set out to… a no coupon VQ that was lite on running, but not lite on effort.

The Iron Hulks and the second set of  “Randorama” got harder as we went (at least I didn’t think it got any easier). I was gassed out and seeing the FNG (who appeared more fit than YHC) having to modify was a good sign as well. I have done a similar workout at Folsom, but this time it had new meaning and intentionality. There was a theme of 20. We didn’t de-escalate with the number, but stayed consistent. 2020, from most accounts, has been a horrible year. People are getting sick (some dying), people are losing jobs, some taking 20% pay cuts until only God knows when, etc… The thing is, we need to stay the course… be consistent…  and do what is expected of us (by our Lord and Savior, but also those who depend on us… our families and friends).

Thanks for allowing me to lead this morning. See you guys around and thanks for the support.

~Stogie

Meanwhile, back at The Ricky Bobby…

In this re-release of the famed Ricky Bobby, 5 HIM showed to push the rock and improve. It was great to be back at it after our hiatus. Here’s what happened mostly.

Warmup

Abe Vigoda

The Thang: The Alphabet

YHC found an old workout I’d come up a few years ago where we used the alphabet as a guide. For each letter we’d do an exercise or routine that corresponded with that letter. I’m not going to bore you with the details other than to say the King of Heart suicide routine and newly minted Queen of Diamonds (a reverso of the the King) were really good for getting the sweat pouring.

We wrapped with the distance COT.

Thanks for the opportunity to lead men! Aye!!!

COT

I was awesome to be back with some of my F3  brothers!  On a side note, Covid-19 made me miss my 1-year anniversary with F3, I guess I’ll have to look forward to my 2-year anniversary!

Stinky Bird out.

Pole Dancin’ or The “D_O_L_P_H”

YHC got to Midoriyama in good time from Charlotte due to the lack of the usual hordes of non driving idiots on I-85 South. Something good did come from the COVID-19 virus. Hit the parking lot at Midoriyama to see a handful of PAX sitting on the sidewalk chatting as YHC walked to them.

A truck pulls up, a window rolls down, a 9 mil started busting caps, no wait, wrong story. We hear “Are you F3?”. We replied, “Yes.” The truck didn’t drive off. It parked and Whopper joined our group, who informed us that he had been to Painlab at the Schiele a time or two. He had picked the wrong day to come to Midoriyama for the first time. Not really, glad to meet you and see you come out to push the rock at the toughest afternoon workout in F3 nation. I have heard that it really gets easier. It also gets hotter.

More PAX show up. YHC shows the curious First F which of the two weinkes would he pick. Broke states neither as the one called “The D-O-L-P-H” starts with burpees and only gets worse. The second is called “Pole Dancin'” and all you do is run from light pole to light pole and like 500 exercises.

Site Q Wojo shows up with a shovel flag. Yay!

It’s 5:30. Time to get after it.

Pledge

Warm up
10 SSH (IC)
20 Abe Vigoda
30 Flutters
40 Moroccan Night Clubs
50 LBC

YHC counts the PAX off as ones or twos. First F gets to pick one of the two weinkes sight unseen. Ones off with Broke. Twos off with YHC.

After the twosies completed The Dolph we moseyed over to the swap places with Broke’s guys so they could enjoy The Dolph and we could do some Pole Dancin’. Luckily they were finishing the flying squirrels as we arrived.

Full Disclosure. YHC didn’t complete all 50 hand release merkins so finished them at home in the driveway for his punishment. YHC also didn’t instruct the other group that YHC eliminated his triple nickel portion, but, we actually lunged, squatted and merkined up that dang steep hill.

After each group finished, mosey back to flag. 6:15. Quitting time.

Announcements: Ville to Ville. Sign up, plenty of spots for more teams. Believe we have five full teams now.

Prayers: Montross’ M, families, Def Leppard’s foot, each other.

Thanks for letting me Q!

The Green Mountain is Back Open

I was super excited for the official reopening of Midoriyama so of course I gave myself the Q before anyone could ask for it. We had some great weather and I wanted to change it up a bit with my weinke.  I also knew that we would more than likely have over 10 HIMS in attendance so I planned ahead. I really wanted everyone to feel like we were one group instead of two, so I set up the workout so that we could split into 2 groups but still be doing the same workout if needed.

I arrived to Midoriyama about 30 mins early to setup the small field for my weinke. On one end of the field I set up two tires, agility ladder, and some cones (disc golf discs). On the other end we would be using the hill for some triple nickel. I drove back over to the flag (which i actually forgot to bring) and quickly realized that we would definitely be splitting the group into 2. I asked Freight to help and lead the other group,  gave him a copy of my weinke and a brief explanation. 5:30 16 HIMS lets role

Warm up:

  1. Don Q x 10ic
  2. SSH x 10ic

      1. Icky Shuffle
      2. Lateral In & Out
      3. Forward In & Out
    3. Shuffles back to beginning

After we were done with the last set ea. group circled up at their last location and did countdowns.

  1. Countdowns from 10:
    1. SSH
    2. Flying Squirrels
    3. Merkins
    4. LBC’s
  2. Stretches

Mosey to Flag

This ended up being a pretty tough workout.  Thanks to Freight for helping out, and to everyone who posted for coming out. It was great to have a big group again.

Back in the Saddle Again!

It feels good to be back with the great Men of F3! The obstacles of the pandemic have only made the Pax think of new and creative ways to stay connected. When I pulled up Big Pappy was getting the shovel flag out and dialing up the Ole 56K modem for an experience like no other with The Matrix going live with T-ron, Huck, and Hipaa. Even telling us that limited numbers in groups cant hold us back. We warmed up together then we split up for the next 40 minutes or so.

The Thang!
Warm UP: SSH, Mo Rockin Night Clubs, Goof Balls, then a lil thang called Monkey Humpers.
Mosey to the bottom lot:
10 Merkins, 20 Squats, 30 Hillbillies, 40 Lunges, 50 Lbc’s. We did one exercise then a lap stacking as you go then working our way back down to Merkins.

Once we finished these up we moseyed back to meet up with the Matrix.
