Midoriyama 8/13

10 men at Midoriyama this afternoon!

Warm-up:

10 Grass Pickers (ic)

The Thang:

As promised, we would not do any running today.  However, even with no running, the pax were going to get their $$$ worth today!!

First exercise called is “The 555 Standard”:

5 Rounds:

15 Squats

15 Burpees

15 Hand Release Merkins

Next exercise called is “Pandemic”:

This is  exercises performed in 1 to 10 to 1 reps (Pyramid multipliers) of:

1 Burpee

2 Mountain Climbers

3 Sit-Ups (WWII)

Start with 1 Burpee, 2 MC, 3 WWII.  Next is 2 Burpees, 4 MC, 6 WWII.  Continue to peak of pyramid 10 Burpees, 20 MC, 30 WWII, then go back down the pyramid.  This was terrible!!! We stopped at the top of the Pyramid at 10, and did not go back down.  With 130 Burpees already in the books for today,  enough was enough.  Time to move on.

Last exercise called is “Lindsey’s”:

Start with 10 Dips, 30 Derkins

15 Dips, 25 Derkins

20 Dips, 20 Derkins

25 Dips, 15 Derkins

30 Dips, 10 Derkins

Time.  Nice work by all pax today.  We didn’t run, but we definitely got in some reps.

I forgot!

Seven manly men showed up to the JV spot at Midoriyama  A.K.A. George Poston Park. I’m not sure what we did but I’m pretty sure that Leppard was thinking about his recliner “working from home”, Golddigger complained about a tough workout, Freight heckled Leppard, Love Boat trotted around like he was auditioning for a modeling job, Watts-up followed me around asking about old Backblast and Dr Sues tolled his eyes at all of us.   🤣😂🤦‍♂️ Fun as usual and we all got a little better. Thanks for letting me pick on you all. I know there will be payback.
I know I need more work on my first F.
Thanks again!!

Head locking with the Orangeman.

Nobody showed so nobody knows! You should have showed up!

Thanks to God for giving time to spend getting to know a good man!
pray for other PAX and remember it’s You vs You!! Ask God for help and don’t put all your faith in man kind.

Love you Brothers!!

The Ultimate Midoriyama

The final act in a trifecta of GD Q’s was planned as 45 minutes of leg work. At 5:28, the question remained, what would this entail? With only 6 PAX in attendance, it was looking like a whole lot of pain, but at 5:29 in rolls Tiger and SA to save the day! 8 players is just enough for frisbee, so that’s the call. Various injuries, both physical and emotional, occurred, but everyone had a good time. Mostly.

Until next time,

GD

Backyard burn

10 was the number at Midoriyama on Tuesday. No hero WOD today. Today I decided we would do several backyard burn style workouts. If you’re on Strava(if your not stay under your rock Patrick) you may have seen some of the backyard burn workouts I’ve been doing in between my regular posting days. They are usually short HIIT style workouts leaning more toward lifting something. I was inspired to start doing these by Pizza Man and the 27 WOD’s he does daily.

The Warmup:

Nope, get a block and let’s go. 3 PAX walked off. I think they went and done some yoga, partner stretches or something.

The Thang:

10 of each x 5 rounds

Thrusters, Tricep Dips, Weighted step ups

Next round

Kettle bell swings, Overhead press, Donkey kicks

Next round

Goblet squat, Hand release merkin, Wall jumps(taps)

Next round

Curls, Farmer Carry 40ish yds, High pulls

Next round

1 minute overhead hold, rest 1 minute for 5 rounds

Next round

Blockees, Mtn Climbers ic, WWI situps. We made it through a few rounds of this and called time.

Pledge

Announcements-Mt Mitchell 9/27 info coming, Def Leppard’s favorite band is ABBA

Prayer Request-Obviously Def Leppard(see announcements), Sister Act and family, Blart and family, several people with sickness and loss

Naked Moleskin:

I was reading a devotional and it is mentioned image if we lived a certain way and that got me to thinking(uh-oh). Imagine if we lived out a lot of things we imagine. We can. We like to say hindsight is 20/20 and that insinuates that the future is blind. While we may not know what all it holds we are not completely blind to it either. There are many things we know if we do it what the outcome will be. What if we eat healthy and exercise regularly? We will be healthier in the future. We know this! So what else? What if we pray daily, go to church regularly, get involved with our church, study, etc. I hope you get the point. Don’t put things off that you know the result of. Get after it!

Painlab Block Party

6 men rolled in to Midoriyama and luckily the clouds kept the temperatures lower than expected. I haven’t posted in a couple of weeks due to a sore foot but I decided to keep this Q and make it a low impact Painlab style workout. I know Rudolph would approve.

COT

NMM- Thanks to the guys for coming out today. I have never Q’d a workout with no running but it was good to be back. Thanks to Slaw who did most of the counting with the blocks. Freight especially appreciates when someone counts so he can tell stories about the Halloween of discipline. Seuss brought his own block to the party. Most reps were completed but the Triceps Extensions were tough to complete after about 35! Great to see Virus today. Pockets did the Blart walk off goodbye without saying a word. After the workout Sister Act drives by mostly to see Slaw. A few minutes later, here comes newly “respectable” Stroganoff rucking around the park while his 2.2 was at soccer. He looks good for his age! It’s always good to be around the Pax!

Tooltime’s WOD

12 PAX showed up for what would eventually be called the smallest WOD in F3 Gastonia. Coincidentally this name came from the smallest F3 Gastonia PAX, go figure! Weather was a bit dicey at times but we risked it all to get it done.

Warmup:

Ask Purple Haze oh wait he wasn’t there yet.

SSH x 20ic

Let’s Mosey to the far soccer field

The Thang:

Tooltime’s WOD

Triple Nickel-Run a lap(we chose to go around both soccer fields)  do 5 exercises 5 ic of each. Rinse and repeat 5 times. Exercises were Don Q(because it’s Tooltime, you know), Merkin(his favorite), Pickle Pounder(because it’s always his anniversary), V up roll up, Crunchy Frog.

That’s it! After some thought I decided that the WOD doesn’t have to take the whole time. It can be a part of a workout thus the smallest WOD I’ve created.

The rain was starting to come down at this point so we made our way back to the start.

Not a part of the WOD but to finish we did it Tooltime style. Core time for Tooltime.

Mostly 20ic of each of the following.

The alphabet(not 20ic)

American Hammer

LBC

Nolan Ryan

Freddy Mercury

Plank 1 minute

Pretzel Crunch

Boat Canoe

Time! Note I put each of those on a line by them selves to make the WOD look bigger than it actually is.

COT:

Announcements-Ch 35 on XM is the Beastie Boy channel. I hope you tuned in last night because that went away this morning 🙁

Prayer Request

Prayer

Namerama-Q fail here. I’m not sure where my head was at but as always you can depend on some correction from your brothers.

Naked Moleskin-Some reasons I did a hero WOD for Tooltime. He has as much candor as I do(Broke disagreed). I can tell him anything and I don’t feel the slightest bit of judgement. He is determined. Once he decides on something he gives his all to accomplish it.

11x11s

14 PAX showed on the 14th for a GD workout called 11x11s in what felt like 114 degrees. If you really need someone to explain it to you, we did 11s, 11 times. Except we only did 6. We tried.

Show up next time to know.
