Weekend in the Hamptons or Aspen?

Three brave HIM and an F3 Dog dubbed Scrat ventured for a Ruck and round of the Thunder PT at Diablo Sandwich. The Ruck included traversing to Southminster Presbyterian Church (not Southhampton pool) with the following intermission break: 12 x Thrusters, 12 x Curls, 12 x American Hammers ( w/ruck sack, right side only), 12 x Block Swings, 12 x Bent Over Rows, 12 x Big Boys, 12 x Heels to Heaven. With little time for Burpees, we returned.

Throughout the workout, we learned a little more about Hermie and his son’s sweet gig as a private chef in the Hamptons, NYC, and Aspen. I vote he showcases his talent next time he’s in town.

Out of the shadows

After Nutria called out Buckshot for showing up 6 months and 6 minutes late yesterday, in his own words Nutria, “came out of the shadows emerging as someone vaguely familiar from the distant past” to Ruck at Diablo Sammich. Five others & Scrat joined in after Sargento’s warm up and off we went:

Rucked up Armstrong Park Rd for 15 minutes and stopped at a clearing to complete the following:

    • 15 Lunges
    • 15 Squats
    • 15 Merkins
    • 30 Seconds of Planks

Rucked back to Publix and did the same exercise routine, except 20 reps each (since someone asked if it was the 15th of the month, which it was not). Jokes were then made about it being 4/20. Also, completed two flights of stairs in back of the supermarket.

Rucked to the old gas station and did the same exercise routine. No jokes were made.

 

Win a Panda

7 HIMs and Scrat ventured from Diablo Sammich to Dickson’s Animal Clinic, which was transformed into the most disappointing carnival this side of the South Fork River. A ring toss game was set up in the parking lot with a plethora of drinks found in YHC’s garage fridge. Ring or knock over a drink, it’s a keeper – sorry, no one wins a giant Panda at this carnival (or any). Miss after three tries, it’s three burpees instead (sorry Nutria).

The excitement level was so intense, five of us showed up late to the COT.

A would be the smaller coupon …. B was for “ball” …. As in slamball 20 lbs …. Wise group as smaller coupon approx 12 lbs and easier to grip…. One to hold and transport until we stop and perform short routine of 10 squats and 10 merkins and give off to another … whenever carrying transport however you wish and exempt from activities other than mosey if a change up is needed ( none Were) we would modify. However, should you place coupon down … all would suffer a 5 burpee penalty! None used!

made it down and back, set timer for 30 seconds of merkins and finished up strong!!

Whoopee was not her much to my chagrin as I added weights to my vest that he said last time was empty ( had about 24 pounds then …. Now was 30 )

of note: Hermey has his hands insured by Lloyd’s of London for $12,000 a digit so we made sure he was wearing gloves and Les Nessman spoke of a curious bacon smell that may have been an aftershave!

also, I got home only to realize that in all the time as Site Q of Labyrinth I’ve never failed in collecting the flag ………. Until today.

well, I know what I’ll be doing later ……. 50 penalty burpees  ….. ouch

Laps around the $ wall

Met up at snoballs and 4 pax headed to the ATM (aka the $ wall) for a speed/distance ruck around the Planet Fitness/Bellacinos building. The idea was to push the pace of the ruck and establish a baseline that could be used for comparison to another such event in the future.  No stops for merkins or squats or anything just go as fast as you can for 45 minutes.

Ended in COT and pledge!

Reminder about Bunker workout tomorrow.  Also not too late to join the Amoeba ruck.

Good to have Whopper back as part of the PAX.  Good work today by all. Keep pushing the rock!

239 beans

So the other night ( late) I noticed a DM from Sledge-o-matic and upon opening noticed us request of my q presence at Diablo Sammich. I was a little puzzled at first as I have only been a handful of times in its inception and even led myself in a solo Q, but then I quickly thought that this should be a learning experience and enjoy the fact that I was called upon … so I gladly accepted.

Told all this morning I was certainly not a professional and if any are mad or upset with me take that up with Sledge later ( or myself).
I only hope that I did a fair representation of the job.
We would begin with high knees IC x 5
Drop for plank ten count plank jacks and Mtn climbers IC x 5 each
Mosey towards Martha’s House pausing at gates for six …. Never mind all are present so plank …. Lower plank
Today we would mosey all around the park pausing periodically for nur twice, monkey humpers, dips and step ups at picnic shelter and dead hang and pull-ups … there was time even for crab walking and bear crawl ( sucked!) and I even tied to coax pax to gently broad jump across from curb to curb or lunge …. None would follow me to jump!?! Some of what I attempted today was to assess whether the pax was willing to follow some of this and perhaps modify and/or add/ subtract alternate exercises.
We would end with flutters ic x 20 and 20 lbcs OYO while someone reminded me that I had on an empty backpack ( this individual claimed to may have the frozen remains of a cat and/or dog

Lastly I loved to mumble and other chatter throughout day. I also added to all present that last week before Labyrinth started Whoopee has asked Captain Stubing what he did for a living and just to open up to us ….. we should strive to do this with any pax we are not as familiar with ….. retention and attendance would be higher as it would show a level of care and interest in each to the other.

Today also was a non PC day esp for bad dad jokes most notably from Whoopee ( any surprise there?)
Why are there only 239 beans in an Irish stew ? Using an Irish accent ….” Because one more would be Too Farty!”
