Yee Haw Look at them Boots! Crossroads 2/4/24

Great crowd at Crossroads this morning with some good weather (albeit cold) to boot.  Hal said he was tired and looking forward to some 8:80s following a solid 12 miler w/ a gang of misfit, no-rep, backblast shut-outs from Old School the day before.  Mucho rucking and running was done by 12 HIM.  Sister Act joined the COT changing into his work uniform which with those boots and tucked jeans could have easily doubled for a night on the town at the Blue Oyster!  We moved indoors to discuss the LDP for Qsource.

Announcements:  Folsom Winter Nationals next Saturday @ 06:30 meet in the lower parking lot near the shelter (all other AOs closed) / 2nd F lunch @ Estia’s 2/21

Prayers:  Broke’s Mom, Gumby’s Mom, Wirenut’s Mom, Luke Neusom, Anchorman, Wojo’s Dad, Unspoken

The Man Beside You

We say all the time that you’re not only posting for yourself, but to also be there for the man beside you. At Crossroads on Sunday, this principal was in full effect.  On the eve before what was projected to be a morning in the low teens, Mayor reached out on Slack for a “pacer” for his training run. He had two PAX hard commit to being there for him and both helped him achieve his goal. That’s some HIM stuff. Shout out to Bedpan and Wojo for the strong work and leadership by example. Freight also had a run goal he had to meet, but he took off so fast that nobody could catch up to him and pace him. He smoked his goal as well.

11 PAX in total for a cold run and a Qsource discussion on Language.

Prayers for Sarlaac, Turtleman, Luke Newsome, Gumby, Gumby’s neighbor, Wojo’s dad, Bubba Sparxx, Ball Joint, Seuss’ dad, Bedpan co-worker.  Praise for family of Mayor’s co worker who got good test results

Disrupt

12 pax posted at Crossroads on Sunday. The usual stuff happened. Some running, rucking, and jogging. Afterwards we dove into another round of Q Source. This time the idea is to focus not some much on what Dredd says about the subject but what other information the world has to offer us on the matter. Starting with Disruption I focused on what s disrupter is and how you can be one. This included the  actions and characteristics of a disrupter. The final thought was it’s not about doing a good job, it’s changing how it’s done all together for the better.

Mo Rons

7 Mo Rons showed up in the pouring rain Sunday morning at Crossroads and got in a ruck. I’m not sure anyone was really better for it to be honest. We had some good conversations though. Slaw was not there to pickup the 6. Hate to see it. Freight 2024. After  we discussed influence and how you do it. Blart joined for that part.

Not all failures are the same

10 Pax posted at Crossroads on Sunday morning. Some ran and some rucked. Some stayed for Q Source and some left to go make a joyful noise at church.

We continued our discussion on leaders. I brought in Abraham Lincoln but specifically talked about his failures. He lost businesses, jobs, and multiple elections and still went on to be considered one of the best presidents we have had in the United states. This lead us into discussing how we look at failure. Freaconomics podcast recently did a 4 part series on failure. I recommend listening. It part 1 Amy Edmonsin talks about the Spectrum of 6 failures. These range from blame worthy to expected. I thought it was helpful to categorize your failure to see how much at fault you are and to help determine the reasons for it.

The Greatest Leadership Lesson Ever

Light crowd for Crossroads on Sunday morning. 3 alliance members were out early for a run. 3 showed up at normal time. 1 ran, 1 ran then walked, and 1 rucked. Afterwards we meet in Ingles where Blart joined 4 of us for the single greatest Q-Source ever where I bestowed such great knowledge on these men that they will be forever changed. It’s probably good many of the regulars weren’t there as they likely wouldn’t have been able to handle it.

COT:

Announcements-2nd F lunch at Papas and Beer, Half Marathon ruck, 24 hour run 11/4, Trail relay run 11/18 get signed up, Christmas party coming.

Prayer Request-Turtleman, Jackson Hall
