Throughout the workout I read various quotes from various folks just to give us some things to ponder.
1. “I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan
2. “Life is so darn short. For f***’s sake, do what makes you happy.” – Bill Murray
3. “Try not to become a man of success but become a man of value.” – Albert Einstein
4. “A man may conquer a million men in battle but one who conquers himself is, indeed, the greatest of conquerors.” – Buddha
5. “Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.” – Marcus Aurelius
6. “There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.” – Winston Churchill
7. “Stand true to your calling to be a man. Real women will always be relieved and grateful when men are willing to be men.” – Elisabeth Elliott
8. “It was men who stopped slavery. It was men who ran up the stairs in the Twin Towers to rescue people. It was men who gave up their seats on the lifeboats of the Titanic. Men are made to take risks and live passionately on behalf of others.” – John Eldredge
9. “Men want a battle fight, an adventure to live, and s beauty to rescue. That is what is written in their hearts. That is what little boys play at. That is what men’s movies are about. You just see it. It is undeniable.” – John Eldredge
10. “Be alert, stand firm in the faith, act like a man, be strong.” – Apostle Paul 1 Cor. 16:13

*NMM I appreciate all of the guys who showed up today in the muggy morning air to get better. Great to see Hunchback on the north side. Plenty of rock pushers doing their thing this morning. Wirenut was throwing around the blocks like they were bricks. Slaw was having trouble with the AB work because his ridiculous “belt” was in the way. I saw Seuss and Wiki both had a few drops of sweat on their shirts this morning. Broke was not wanting to sweat but he was sweating before the warmup was done. Happy Trees is getting better each week and he posts more than SA. Oompa made it through the workout which is pretty amazing at his age! There were still some tales of the epic Frisbee Football at Midoriyama on Thursday. It was quite fun. We had breakfast later with the Folsom guys and a few other guys who have been training for a trail race. It was a tough morning but I can’t imagine being around a better group of guys!

Escalators at The Bobby!

Well, YHC thought the boys at The Ricky Bobby needed a little variety in their F3 life! So time for escalators for all.  Went like this on a warm morning.

COP

SSH X 20

Tesla Stretches

IW X 25

Gravel Pickers X 20

Escalator set:

5 burpees

10 big boys

15 Merkins

20 squats

25 CDD

30 Plank Jacks

What we do here is start with the 5 burpess every time and just add on the next and then the next and then the next until we get to the plank jacks. In between, we ran to the end and did 5 monkey humpers.

Next set, run to 2 nd light and drop for 10 HR merkins. Rinse and repeat 3X. That gets us there!

NMM: Great morning to be out and at it. Everyone pushed the rock and away we went. Fun morning and pleasure to lead.

Tesla

Folsom 7/6/2023

I got the Q again.

Warmup: Normal stuff in circle then mosey up to the flag pole, alternating mosey, nur, and karaoke along the way. At some point Slaw hurt his Tant on the Karaoke…To bad Sister Act wasn’t there to massage it for him…hate to see it.

Thang: Sheldon Cooper Style but with block…so lets call it the David (Goggins) Cooper..I believe they are cousins anyway. 10 down to 1 with a lap in between. Exercises are Blockies, Curls, Tri’s, Squats, Merkins w/block, then 40 lbc every time to engage the core. Everyone pushed hard. The air was soup, and it sucked. That took us the whole time and we moseyed back to start about right on time. Shout out to Handcuff who has returned to us recently and has been hammering down for last 2 weeks! He is getting better too he made it back to shovel flag without walking any 💪 keep pushing Brother!

Pushing through the gloom

Many a PAX showed up for some humid action. 15 to be exact after the prework countoff. Good showing, be careful and get going!

Some PAX expected the Sargento route but, being slow these days and likely lagging behind, YHC didn’t want to imperil the directionally impaired speedsters. We ran the regular Wells Fargo route instead. It was good and everybody returned as planned.

Come on out and do it again next week! AYE!!!

Mosey back to Start

Balls in the air

I snatched the opportunity to Q The Goat at nearly the 11th hour, saving Bubba Sparxxx and countless innocent Pax from having to deal with an awkward situation.  Here’s how it went down.

Started out with SSH, Hillbilly walkers, Goofballs (each 10xIC).  Moseyed down 8th Ave towards Riverside Park with a few stops along the way:
– 22 merkins OYO at the statue at the corner of the main square
– Wall-sit air presses under the bridge (20xIC)
– American Hammers on Mayflower Street (20xIC)

Upon arriving at the park, surprise!  We just happened to find 2 basketballs and a bluetooth speaker (that immediately paired to my phone – wow, what are the chances?).  Clearly we had to make use of these items, so we circled up at center court and I explained the rules:
– Split into two teams.
– 5 reps of a chosen exercise “buys” a shot from the free throw line or beyond.
– Any Pax can do the exercise and it counts as a rep.  Any Pax can shoot after a the shot is earned with the 5 reps.
– Count up how many made shots at the end of the song.

First song = We Will Rock You. Exercise = Burpees.  I joined “Team 1” with Gavel, Orangeman, Eh Y’all, Freon, and Bos.  Gavel sunk a few buckets to make our score respectable, but otherwise Team 1 tossed enough bricks to build a house and lost 9-5.  I didn’t watch closely, but Anchorman seemed to spend a lot of time at the free throw line for Team 2.

Next song = We are the Champions.  Exercise = Makhtar Ndiaye’s.  Gavel got a hot hand and redeemed Team 1 with a 13-something win for Round 2.

Next song = Eye of the Tiger.  Exercise = Bobby Hurleys.  Both teams found a groove, and we tied 15-15.  It wasn’t in the plan, but we had to do one more to determine the winning team.

Tie-breaker song = Lithium (Nirvana).  Exercise = Heels to Heaven.  Up to this point, I hadn’t made a single shot in 6 or 8 attempts, but Gavel graciously gave me another shot.  I made the first two in a row and drained several more as Gavel, Orangeman and I scored 23 for the win.  Without taking a single shot at the goal, Eh Y’all was Team 1 MVP for grinding out exercises like a workhorse every single round.  To celebrate, we circled up for a round of 10 Makhtar Ndiaye’s in cadence, then headed back towards the flag with a few stops along the way:
– American Hammers on Mayflower Street (20xIC)
– Wall-sit air presses under the bridge (20xIC)
– 22 merkins OYO at the statue at the corner of the main square

There was lots of time left, so we did a Triple Nickel on the hill between the fire station and Mayworth’s:  Monkey humpers and CDD’s.

3 minutes of Mary took us to the end, just as a handsome and un-sweaty man with a large perfectly groomed poodle joined our COT as if he had been there the whole time.  It wasn’t weird at all…
