GrowRuck 24

Tesla (R), Breaker Breaker (R), Freight, Bubba Sparx, and Tiger (R) took part in GrowRuck 24.  Whoppe and Boudin had also registered but had to scratch.  Bubba suffering through a foot injury, so he pulled time in support.

Friday night started the weekend with a social event, good opportunity to meet pax from other regions, and put faces to names you have heard.  Saturday morning was a convergence boot camp style workout which moved directly to breakfast after.

Remainder of the morning was Grow School, which is three hours of going through the entire Q source led by Italian Job (Ft Mill) and GMO (St Louis).  Those guys did a really good job of teaching and giving life examples of the teaching.  A very worthy event.

Curve ball at the end of grow school, normal events begin at 1800, but we were told at the end of school that start time had been moved to 1600.  Oh s***!  Let’s move

Event began at said time and ended next morning around roughly 0830.  Did lots of things during the time in between.  Won’t go into details, but if you want to know more about specifics just ask one of us.

Guys, these events serve important purposes.  Gives a chance to interact with other regions getting some good ideas of what works and what doesn’t.  It also gives the chance for participants to do and accomplish things they did not know the could do or accomplish without leaning on other men.

It is also important to bring a re-invigorated spirit back to the local regions.  It takes hard work to get better.  But it takes even harder work to stay better.  We can never let the guard down, that is when it becomes easier for bad things to happen.

Yes the event is difficult and it should be.  It is important for it to be difficult.  Get past that part because you can do it.  There will be other opportunities soon for other local Pax to carry the torch.

Always and honor

Do Hard Things

Strong crowd at the Storm for a wounded Tiger Q.  Men came to work, great job by all.

5:30 hits, YHC begins by stating the mission of F3, to plant grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership.  We do what we do to become better men.  The work out is one way we achieve that.  It is important to come out and work hard.  It is important to do hard things.

SSH, IW, gravel pickers 15X IC.  Some stretches from plank.  10 burpees.  Mosey to back side of school near loading dock.

Hamster wheel (bear crawls up the ramp and down the other side) continue until stop is called.  Six rotations.  Mosey to the tables outside the cafeteria.  Box jumps to bench, dips, derkins.  Stay together so plank in between sets.  20 of each, then 15 then 10 then 5.  Mosey to side entrance.

Get some wall for suspension merkins  3 sets.  On the curb for 20 tiger squats.  Mosey to circle in front of school.

Lunge walk around circle, then bear crawl.  Two sets of each.

Couple mins remain.  YHC reminds that we come out for more than a workout.  We should all have a bigger reason for doing what we do.  YHC tells Pax to think of their why.  And then picture their why at the shovel flag.  Sprint with all you got to your why.

Pledge.

Do hard things men.  With all you have.  You work hard in the gloom, you pull EC, do CSAUPs and GrowRuck events, all of that with all your effort every time, then you will be more prepared to deal with the hard things in life.  Ask for help, reach out to those that need it.

What we do in the gloom is not hard, it is a privilege.  Many of our Pax have gone through hard things, some are going through hard things.  Many more of us will go through hard things.  This is why it is vitally important that we prepare every day.

Announcements:  no work day at Ricky Bobby, F3 Dads at Folsom Aug 21, Sand Lot and Mt Hollywood combining in McAdenville Labor day at 0700, service project is tuna and protein snack pack.

Vacation Almost Over

Another hot, humid morning on the coast of SC.  Guys and girls gather for a joint beat down.  Warmup SSH IW Gravel Pickers 15 x IC.  Stretch.

Mosey out the neighborhood.  Area where we were staying had two entrances about 1/8 mile apart.  Move between entrances doing a form of merkins at one, and a form of SSH at the other.  Each time cross the middle, 5 burpees.  Start with 10 hand release merkins, other end for 20 SSH stopping for burpees in middle.  Back to other end for 10 hand release, plus 10 regular merkins.  Other end for 10 SSH plus 10 toe touch SSH.  Other end.  Continue until get to 10 each hand release, merkins, stagger left arm high, stagger right arm high, diamonds.  Other end was 20 each SSH, toe touch, seal jacks, smurf jacks, and star jacks.

Lunge walk to end of road and back. Time for few mins of Mary called by the girls.

Back to flag,  Orangeman M did not have a name, so now Raquel known as Dodo Bird.

YHC took us out.

Fun week.

Ruck at Debordieu

YHC took a little R&R day one of vacay, stayed in the sack.  That is not accelerating.  Time for redemption.  Hitched on the ruck for a few hot, humid miles around Debordieu Colony.   BOS had no weight in his sack, so he went to raid a construction site.  That works.  Time to walk.  Did some talking, swatted some (a lot) mosquitos, and thought about what could have been but thankfully wasn’t. 6.6 total miles.

Pledge at Pilgrim shovel flag.

Time to hit the beach!

Old School 7/10

YHC first post at Old School so I arrived early to get a lay of the land.  While driving around checking things out, here come Def Leppard getting in some EC.  Says Pizza Man and Freight are out there some where.  Knew I had better come up with a challenge for those  flippers.

0700 approaches, start of with the mission of F3 and encouragement to really push.  All those in our circles deserve nothing less.  Warm up was SSH, IW, and grass pickers all 15X IC.  Get in some stretching too.  Pledge.

Mosey out the parking lot to the right and down the hill.  Stop at end of street.  Nice hill up to the stop light.  Call for Bo Dereks.  Bo Derek starred in a movie in the 80s called “10” .  So 10 hand release merkins at bottom of hill, run to top for 10 deep squats.  Repeat 10 times.  Good push by everyone.

This took most of time but not all, so mosey back to the park for some ab work on the track.  25 big boys.  Run to next turn for 25 big boys and 25 flutter kicks.  Next turn and add 25 American Hammers.  Next turn and add crunchy frogs.  Only got through big boys and time getting short, back to the start.

Good push men, didn’t expect anything less from this crowd.

Light crowd at Midoriyama as many Pax on vacation this week.  Safe travel to all.  Go time arrives at same time as Purple Haze, give him a moment to join the party.  Warm up  was SSH, IW, grass pickers, 15X IC.  Stretches from plank position.  Pledge.

Mosey to parking lot by big soccer fields.  Using the width of the lot.  YHC tells pax that we doing an accelerator of sorts. One end of parkin lot is merkin end, the other is the “jack” end.  Middle is burpee zone.  Each time cross middle, 5 burpees, start with those.  Run to jack end for 20 SSH.  Run to other end, cross middle with 5 burpees on way.  At other end 20 merkins.  Run back to jack end, 5 burpees in middle, for 20 SSH plus 20 smurf jacks.  Other end for 20 merkins plus 20 hand release merkins.  You get the idea.

We kept crossing adding up to 20 SSH, 20 smurf jacks, 20 seal jacks, 20 toe touch jacks, and 20 start jacks on one end.  Other end 20 merkins, 20 hand release, 20 stagger left, 20 stagger right.  Last set of merkins ran low on time, so last pass through middle instead of burpees, was 10 each merkins, hand release, stagger left, stagger right, diamonds.

Head back to start.  Good work men, really tough work out.

The Storm – 6/22/21

Good crowd on  humid morning at the Storm.  Started with a reminder of the mission of F3, translated it into put in the work and get better for all of those that depend on us.  Warm up SSH, Imperial Walkers, Grass pickers 15X IC, some stretching from plank, 10 burpees.  Mosey.

Go to corner of parking lot for some four corners accelerator.  25 hand release merkins, run to second corner for merkins and 50 SSH, third corner, all previous and add 75 squats.  Fourth corner, all previous and add 100 smurf jacks.

Back around for decelerator.  This was a crowd pleaser.  Start with 100 smurf jacks and back down to first corner.  This was tough, good work men!

About 10 mins remain.  Partner up.  Partner bear crawls about 20 yards and back while the other does crunchy frog.  Flap jack.  Same thing except lunge walk and LBCs.  Back to flag.

A minute remains so 5 burpees.  Time.

YHC followed up on Watt’s Up slack post on back blasts.  These are important.  Not only do they broadcast what was done, they also let everyone know who was there, more importantly though who was not.  Also a means for announcements and prayer requests.  Many prayer request may go unknown if not listed in back blast.

Tequilla Sunrise 6/18/21

15 strong for the sunrise, good crowd.  Short disclaimer, difference in quitting and modifying, and reminder of mission of F3.  Warm up: SSH, IW, grass pickers 15X IC and some stretching.  Mosey to Davis Park tennis courts.

Line up for bear crawl a cide and lunge a cide.  Round 1, bear crawl to each side line of each of four courts and do hand release merkins.  Two at first line and run back to start.  Bear crawl to next line and add two merkins.  continue until bear crawl to far side line of far court for 14 hand release.

Another round but lunge walk and start with five Bobby Hurley’s, add five at each subsequent side line.  Continue until lunge walk to far side line for 35 Bobby Hurley’s.

Circle up for a round of iron hulk, stopping at 10 merkins and 40 air presses.  These are always way more difficult than seems like they should be.

Mosey back to start for short round of Mary.  Pledge.

YHC spoke briefly on why we do what we do, those closest to us deserve nothing less than for us to be the best we can be.  It is important to give all we have at every work out, not because the work out is hard, but because sometimes life can be hard.  This is one way to prepare.  Learn from the past, but don’t dwell on what can’t be changed.  Cut the negativity from life, lead through example, criticism to build rarely produces results.

Announcements:  F3 Dads at the Yank 6/19, other workout options as normal.  0515 EC ruck from the Yank, Man Up conference in Charlotte also 6/19, Grow Ruck weekend o Aug 6 with grow school only as an option.

Simple Is Good

Strong group gathered at TRB to get a little better.  5:30, let’s go.

Brief reminder of the mission of F3, no FNGs.  SSH, Imperial Walkers, Grass pickers, roughly 15 IC.  Some additional stretching.

Partner up, for part of Army PT test.  Partner checks form and counts, AMRAP for 2 mins.  Switch.  Do same for sit ups with partner holding feet.  Number for Army is 42 merkins and 52 sit ups.  Head to the track.

Start with 9 burpees, half way around the track and stop for one.  Come back for 8 and 2 on next lap.  Continue until 9 on other side and one at the start.  10 laps and 100 burpees total.

Enough time left for a bear crawl in parking lot and 10 big boys to finish time.  Pledge.

Good push by everyone.  YHC reminded that we do what we do, and make it hard, partially to work our bodies, but primarily because we strive to be better in every area of life every day.  The hard part is the decision.  Once the decision is made the next step is to give it all you can.  Yes it is hard sometimes, but so is life.

GrowRuck 24

GrowRuck is coming to our back yard this Summer.  Weekend of August 6 will kick off GrowRuck in Charlotte.  Weekend will consist of 2nd F event Friday the 6th, convergence boot camp Saturday morning, Grow School later Saturday morning, and then the Ruck event launches at 6:00 Saturday evening.

This is a great opportunity to attend leadership training, get to know Pax from other regions, and challenge yourself by taking on a task that maybe you’re a little unsure if you can complete.  Growth does not happen without stepping out of your comfort zone and challenging yourself.  Yes, it will be difficult, it will be hot and humid, but that part will only last a few hours, but the benefit of the weekend can impact your life and the lives of those around you every day (virous leadership).

If you can’t participate in the ruck event, you can register for and attend only Grow School.

We should be able to send 20 Pax from Gastonia Region.  There will be training throughout the next few months to get an idea of what to expect.   Register at Growruck.com

Step up men!

Tiger
