Tell me something I don’t know!

It was a glorious day to lead some HIM at the hottest AO this side of Crowders Mountain. Not nuclear type hot but warm enough to get a good sweat on. The regulars were waiting in the shade, breathing deep the aroma from the turdshack. My henchman Queso even tagged along for some afternoon rock pushing before he heads off to The East Carolina University. This is what happened…

Time was called. Introductions were given. Disclaimers were proclaimed.

Pledge of Allegiance

Warm was Merkins and Goofballs and almost Burpees. What more did we need?

Mosey down the way to the long open parking lot for some 11’s. Lunges on one side, Big Boys on the other. The king of the super long, in cadence, squat warmup Virus joined us not long after we started this routine. Welcome!

Head over to the small soccer field for a version of the ATM. We did the shoulder thing but the high point, IMO, is that YHC was able to successfully do Shoulder Taps for the first time in 10 months! Please hold your applause.

Mosey toward the ultimate frisbee arena for some itchy grass work. The Hurricane Hoedown! On you 6 and do 7 IC reps of Flutterkicks with 1) arms raised, 2) arms behind you, 3) reclined 4) normal 5) LBFCs. Next round, do 6 reps, next 5 and so on. Between each round YHC had the bright idea to ask each PAX something about each other that no one knows. The winner has to be that in 2nd grade at school Defib broke a glass windowpane over top of his head! OUCH!!!

Mosey back to the start for some Jack Webb via Route 66 doing squats. That’s right, just do a squat, 4 air presses and then lunge 5 steps. increase by 1 each round with x4 on the air presses. We did this until time was called.

Thanks for the opportunity to lead and for putting up with me men. It’s good to be back!!! AYE!

Waterboy may be the most interesting man in the world

This morning’s run at the PUB was a now infamous route called the Defib route, or is the reverse Defib route?

Gaston Day School Road, left on White Willow, Right on Willow Creek Drive, Left on Riding Trail, left on Windyrush, right on Hudson, left on Robinwood (part of gut check), left of Hoffman and back to start.  There was discussion post run about which way is more awful.  YHC believes this is the worst as their are numerous hills but YHC had on his HRB t-shirt.  (Hill running…..Brother?)  Whoopee wasn’t there.  YHC was looking forward to seeing where and how he parked and if he would admire my shirt.

Waterboy is taking a vacation to officiate a wedding and is going to live off the land with his M for a few days in a remote National Park on the water.  Think Blue Lagoon.  There was talk of Fox poaching to gain the pelts and craft a loin cloth.   These foxes are so sly they can unzip a backpack and climb trees.

JJ joined us at the end as he played the role of enforcer for the first four miles before joining us.  #sandbagger

Bandit handled the BB for the Diablo Sammich.

Respect at Ground Assault

It was a near perfect morning in Belmont for a run or ruck. Three ruckers (all respect age) took off on their normal route. Termite and YHC took off to run the route posted on slack. Termite stopped at his truck for a moment and then got a kill while I was running up the hill on Main St. BOS and Tesla did their own thing while they train for different events. Termite either missed a turn or took one on purpose to get some more hills so he got another kill when he past me again. I was the youngest PAX this morning by about 12 years but felt good keeping Termite’s flashing red lights in view ahead of me in the distance. I think he took it easy this morning as he will most likely run tomorrow too. We all came back in one piece in time for COT, some got coffee after.

Watts Up with Linus’ Q

Heard at F3 this morning……
Maybelline:  If I was a teacher, I’d probably fall asleep in the classroom.
Seuss:  Yeah, I do that a lot.

Also, Bubba Sparxx pole does not spin?  Speculation resulted in maybe it’s an older model or maybe even a fireman’s pole?  Also, what?

Shout out to Watts Up for keeping me honest and on my toes.

Folsom gets Annihilated 8/5/23

YHC was approached by Flintstone to Q an annihilation workout. YHC figured since he was initial recipient of the Gashouse challenge belt, he’d better step up and put his money where his mouth was. He picked Folsom for the AO since Gashouse and The Yank were previously annihilated. With a lot of PAX out of town or on the IR, YHC figured a low turnout for the workout. He was pleasantly surprised when the vehicles keep rolling in. It’s gonna be a crusher of a workout and YHC was happy to share the pain with the highest number of PAX as he can!

The PAX circled up and we get to work. After a brisk warmup and some mumblechatter from the guys, we mosey to the lower parking lot where YHC had cones staged and coupons in the bed of his truck. The PAX grabbed a coupon and lined up side by side behind one line of cones. 25 yards across the parking lot another line of  cones had been set up. YHC then announced the workout and exercises to be performed. It’s an Iron PAX challenge workout that F3 Greenwood issued a couple of years ago. It was the 2021 week 4 workout. YHC asked his M to write the exercises on a couple of large pieces of posterboard (because she is a teacher and has neat, legible handwriting). Broke recognized the workout and almost get in his truck and left!

Here’s how it goes –

PAX will perform 25 reps of the prescribed exercise, set their coupon down (if using the coupon), run across the parking lot to the other line of cones. They will perform 3 burpees then return to their starting point. They will then resume the prescribed exercise for another 25 reps, run to the other side, perform 3 burpees, return back to start. This cycle will be repeated until all reps for that exercise are complete. They will then move on to the next exercise and repeat the cycle of 25 reps, run, burpees, back to start. Exercises are as follows:

  • 200 Curls
  • 175 Squats (w/ coupon)
  • 150 Overhead Press
  • 125 Block Swings
  • 100 Merkins
  • 75 Thrusters
  • 50 Bonnie Blairs (count each leg)
  • 25 Blockees

Wichita and West Side led the group and completed the whole workout. YHC had 10 Blockees left when time was up. Everyone was smoked when time was up. You know it’s a beatdown when the PAX are cursing the Q under their breath. Total reps = 900 (and that’s not counting the burpees).

Announcements:

  • F3 Dads workout 8/19
  • 2nd F lunch Pita Wheel in Belmont on 8/16
  • Kings to Crowders Ruck 8/27
  • Coconut Derby 9/3
  • Labor Day Convergence 9/4 (time and location TBD)

Prayer requests:

  • Norwood and his recovery
  • Jackson Hall
  • Mayor
  • Def Leppard
  • Turtleman
  • West Side’s Grandmother
  • Swimmer’s Brother
  • Brillo (Navy bootcamp)

YHC took us out in prayer.

NMM:

This workout was a slobber knocker. Great work by the PAX to push harder to make themselves better. For all the PAX travelling or on the IR, you were missed. YHC hopes the PAX got their money’s worth!

SLAW
