Farewell

This will be my last backblast for F3 Gastonia. I am moving the family back to Georgia. I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone and the welcoming I have received with F3. This is the real deal, life changing stuff. I can’t say enough good things.

Seven met at the Yank on Saturday morning. Started with a warm up: SSH, Imperial Walkers, Morracan night clubs, Gravel pickers, and goof balls. We moseyed to the hill and used inside track of Hawthorne as a modified track to complete the following. 1st lap around: 10 HR merkins, 20 squats, 30 LBCs each light post. 2nd lap: 10 CDDs, 20 monkey humpers, 30 flutters. 3rd lap: 10 diamond merkins, 20 lunges, 30 freddy mercs. We moseyed up hill to the middle school for 11’s on the benches, alternating dips and step ups. For the 4th quarter, we did a bear crawl slalom on the field. This was followed by a Captain Thor 1:4 big boys and American hammers. Along the way we scooped up an FNG. Welcome to Belmont, Chips Ahoy! hope to see you back out.

Skull Krusher

It was a nice cool May morning down in the Valley of the Beast known best as Folsom. Today I’ve taken yet another Q on short notice as GearWrench asked me to take it a few days ago. As I look around I see all familiar faces so only a brief disclaimer and we’re at it.

Warmup was pretty standard with some SSH, Gravel Pickers, Monkey Humpers, Seal Jacks, and we  finish up with Low Slow Squats & Low Slow Merkins with a hold at the bottom on both.

We Moseyed on to  the Block Pile for little Block Stacking. Along the way we stopped at each light pole for 5HR Mike Tyson’s and Jump squats. Once the Block Pile we did a working set then Rifle Carried @50 meters to the street light at the end of the road. Once there we performed same set and Rifle Carried back. Each round we kept working sets from all previous rounds. It went something like this.

Rd. 1 – 5 Blockies.                                           Rd. 2 – 10 Thrusters.                                     Rd. 3 – 15 Merkins on the Block.            Rd. 4 – 20 Triceps Ext.                                  Rd. 5 – 30 Curls

Everything was going fine until we got to the Tricep Extensions when my block slipped and cracked me upside my dome. It didn’t hurt but what was once a little sweat turnt into a lot of blood. I guess that’s why they’re called skull crushers. Anyway I slowed the bleeding (it really was a good bit must be that good pre-workout I got down in the     D-BLOK last weekend it’s the real deal shhhhh) best I could and finished up in time to repeat the 5HR Mike Tyson’s and 10 Jump Squats at each light on the way back.

We’re back to the flag with 1 min. to go so we did a few burpees and called it a wrap.

PLEDGE

COT/PRSISE/PRAYERS

Hope you all enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone who showed to help us all get a little mo’ better today than we were yesterday.

Good Grief..Idaho!!

5 HIMS joined YHC for a post-Annihilation work out at Mount Hollywood! There were some moans and groans..even from Mr. Annihilation himself, who also informed us that there is an actual place in the U.S called, Good Grief. Who knew? Glad to have you there! Great to have GoldDigger..though this may have been option #2 since there was no run today for him; Blue Print is a force to be reckoned with; Freon is a trooper after having returned from church camp with a bunch of insomniac boys; and Pillager pushed not only himself and others..while reminding me how much quieter dogs are..as opposed to kids. Terrific group and time, as always, at Mt Hollywood!

Growing Pains

An abs routine that consists of three exercises done with iterations of 30 in cadence or on the Q’s count, each getting more “mature.” Start off with 30 LBCs (preferably 4-count, in cadence), immediately move into 30 Big Boys, then immediately into the Superman position while the Q counts off 30 seconds (can be done in a 4 count with the PAX).

Obama

In honor of the 44th POTUS, this traveling exercise consists primarily of a Bear Crawl, but after every 4 hand moves PAX must stop and perform 4 Merkins.

This exercise is a combination of a World War II sit-up by adding four American Hammer reps at the top of the sit up: 1/4, 2/8, 3/12…

Word:

The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.

Psalm 145:8‭-‬9 ESV

” Grace pardons, while mercy empathizes and consoles. Grace is God’s love to the guilty; Mercy is his love towards the distressed. It is because of God in his mercy feels for us in our distress that he shows his grace in pardoning our sins and relieving us from our greatest danger. The Lord Jesus is the most wonderful gift of God’s mercy to us, and every other gracious benefit flows from that immeasurable gift. There is more mercy in the Lord Jesus than there is sin in us. The more we contemplate God’s mercy in his Son, the more committed we want to be to his service and the gospel.”

YHC took us out.

Nice work, Men!!

Whetstone/Shield Lock Restart Preblast

Whetstone/Shield Lock is ready for a restart! Interest in Shield Locks, in particular, and in Whetstone is being expressed among F3 Pax! I, as well as the members of SLT, believe this is a great time to begin afresh, or even to re-establish Whetstone/Shield Lock relationships: to get Blades and Stones paired together and to promote Shield Lock relationships with intentionality. A Whetstone or Shield Lock will help you be more accountable and quicken your acceleration in life.

So, why be a part of Whetstone in a Blade/Stone relationship? From F3 Nation Q Source: the Stone (Mentor), the harder of the two, sharpens the Blade (Mentee) while he himself is being sharpened. It works best between two men who are not at the same point in their journey. This must be a committed relationship for an unknown period of time and must be done with deliberation.

 It must involve:

Proximity – meeting physically and consistently at a set time

Purposefulness- Is there a specific need, area, topic that you as a blade need to discuss?

Periodicity- meeting frequently.

This takes a commitment! So, sign up – but realize when you do, you are committing time and effort which will be well worth it!

Why be in a Shield Lock relationship? This is a more horizontal relationship of support, encouragement, and growth. A Shield Lock is best with four PAX, but three is also ideal. These Pax meet formally for a purpose; or informally, with Pax agreeing to run, ruck together, or have coffee and discuss common things as peers.

How to get started?

DM me (Dr. Seuss) on Slack; Message; or call me.

Any F3 Pax can sign up at any time. However, for this initial restart, I would like to have responses, for those interested in being a part of Whetstone or Shield Lock, by the end of this week. I can, then, work on pairings in order to get going sooner, rather than later. There will also be information on Slack and Announcements at all the AO’s this week.

Look forward to hearing from those interested! God’s timing is perfect!

Accountability

Small but mighty ruck/run group and a welcomed visit from Norwood.  Please keep Norwood in your prayers as he goes through more tests and appointments to prepare for his upcoming surgery.  Prayers for Tiger’s Mom as well as she continues through her cancer treatments.

We had a solid discussion on Accountability and the importance of being in a Shield Lock.  Tiger said it well in Slack:

Let’s make it part of our discussions in the coming weeks, brothers.
