The Grinch who Stole my Fart Sack

I was a balmy brisk early morning for the now infamous Grinch workout.  Sorry, I meant Unfamous.  That O Christmas Tree song, the one about a tree, that goes on for 4 minutes,  about a tree…… we threw down the burpies every time O Christmas Tree came on. Boom! As a bonus, if you need one after a song like that, we listened to You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch. Every time the song mentioned Mr. Grinch we hit a Contra Burpie . OH THE JOY.  Wait, it gets better. We added one Merkin to each mention of said Grinch as the song progressed. By the end we were a Burpeeing with 12 Merkins. We loved it enough to play it 3 times.  But that’s not all folks, for a limited time we ran around the neighborhood, sat on some walls, looked for parked cars and even bear walked into some deep sea divers. It went a little like this >

WARM Uppiddy:
Side Straddle Hops – 20 IC
Merkins – 15 IC
Squats – 20 IC
Flutterkicks – 20 IC
Box Cutters – 20 IC
Freddy Mercury’s – 20 IC

THANG:
O Christmas Tree Burpieness (mentioned above)
Bear Walks to four corners where we hit 20 Dying Cockroaches.
Deep Sea Divers. 3 Steps up, 2 Steps down with 5 Slappers per step.

Mosey around the corner.
Wall Sits / Shoulder Press

Mosey to the Garage
You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch (as mentioned above)
Bear Crawls up the ramps run the straight-aways repeat to the top
Lunge to the end, sprint back  x 2
Derkins – 10 IC

Mosey down the stairs.
You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch (as mentioned above)

Back towards the Pavillion where we stopped for wall sits and some marching.

Wind up back at the Pavillion with time for one more song
You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch (as mentioned above)

COT,  then on our Merry way for a Very Merry Christmas!

* I needed to get this out as I’m leading Downtown in just a few short hours. See you in a few!

99 at The Goat

The morning started off with rain and fears of no one showing. Pulled in at the Goat with two already waiting. I show up with full out rain gear expecting more rain to fall. With the other pax filing in one by one and circled up, I gave a workout choice: Sprinterval or 99 workout….. Dolph makes the call for everyone. To the gazebo we mosey. Mumble chatter started with Mayor upset we wasn’t running after wearing his running shoes. Sargento spots a running coming across the bridge it’s Apache from The Rock!

More mumble chatter…….. a lot!!!! Explaining the choice to try and stay dry we all turned toward the bank for the pledge……… after pledge there was no time for warm-up because this workout would eat up the whole time. Here’s what other goats missed….

TIME!!

Fun facts we all learned this AM was that, there are shoes for everything (SSH, LBC, RUNNING etc.) also that the Q NEVER stops counting.  This workout stopped the mumble chatter briefly. Some pax just do know how not to talk smack…… all in great fun and we had a blast having company from Apache. You are welcome anytime sir! Guess Q?????

Announcements: Relay race meeting TBA with location. Be on the lookout. All pax welcome to come to meeting. Also, Apache asked we check the bubble locator for Goatisland. It shows up for back lot not townside. Thanks for the heads up.

Prayers: TopHats Dad, Shrimpboat, T-square

Always a pleasure to lead. Thanks for weathering the weather men!!! Brownstreak out!!

Hunting Season?

Last week Huckleberry put the EH on me to come up and Q Folsom. Actually it did not take much EHing at all – he asked when I was coming to Q so I picked up one of next open slots. I’d been putting off posting with the Folsom PAX up north in Dallas for far too long. In fact I was really looking forward to Qing, until about 0400 when all I heard outside was rain. But weather won’t stop F3. YHC arrived at 0500 this morning for some drive by recon since this was my first Q at the Folsom AO. I was encouraged more as the rain had stopped (at least up here in Dallas). Great AO. Tons of space here, lots to do. Now, with a good sense of the landscape, a proven workout plan, and clearing weather, I just needed to wait for the Folsom crew to show up. So I waited…. and waited…

First group pulls up… Midoriyama (Freight and Pizza Man). While we waited, we discussed ruck sacks and Pizza Man’s sneaker collection. Apparently he has sneakers for every situation (dry, wet, running fast, running far, running faster, running rather, red, blue, pink, etc..).

Still no Folsom regulars. But wait.., what’s this..? GOMER! Ok… Folsom PAX has arrived (and almost parked his truck on the playground – anyone smell gas?)

So at 0531 sharp, we started. Here is what went down.

Warmup
SSH x 20 IC
Don Quiote x 10 IC
Wachamacallits x 20 IC
Thingamajiggers x 15 IC
Merkins x 10 IC

Mountain Climbers x 20 OYO
Rinse and Repeat x5

Bath House Wall Work
Wall sits + air presses x 20 IC (long count – each press up is 1 count)
BTTW (no count – use Bandit’s internal inertia timer. in other words, collapse when Q can’t hold it any longer)
Donkey Kicks x 10 IC (long count – each wall kick is 1 count)
Careful not to wake anyone.
Rinse and Repeat (normal count second round)

Mosey back to upper parking lot

Partner work with Dora, Dora, Dora
Merkins – 100
LBC – 200
Squats – 300 (next time, we can flip flop LBCs and Squats for Freight)

Slow mosey back to SF.

At 0614 we wrap up with 1 minute of Burpees OYO.

Finished up with the Pledge, COT and Namerama

Moleskin

  • Was great to break sweat with Freight and Pizza Man again.  2 days in a row seeing Freight – new Nantan is really getting around.  Strong!
  • Gomer is a stud! Nice work on 4 corners – if YHC were younger, faster and stronger, I would have beat you. But I am not! Not many men are out at 0530 in the gloomy rainy mornings. Even fewer guys 18/19 years old. Thanks for the strong parter work today!
  • Keep Pizza Man’s family in our prayers as they talk to Hospice.
  • Keep those in our prayers that struggle with addiction of all sorts.
  • Glad to hear Mrs. Floppy Disk is doing well!
  • Many Folsom regulars are out in the field to get in a little hunting, enjoying the gifts the sky-Q provides us with on the big ball. Other’s have some challenging work schedules. Looking forward to catching up in the gloom soon.

We Ran

2 PAX braved the weather at the Pub this morning…..we ran through a tornado that we caused as we ran at a blistering avg pace of 2.30 min miles for 18 miles in 45 mins! YHC wanted to slow down a bit but as #ISI Monk kept pushing that rock and ME to this impressive end goal ! …..Now that I have your attention…..read below for the rest of the story!

Warm-up:

NONE

The Thang:

I’m really not that creative….and this is a running AO, so here it goes…..

We Ran …below is what I recorded

Miles- 4.3 miles

Average Pace – 9.05 Ave Pace

Thank you Monk for not making this a solo run and for your words of wisdom during the run and after at Coffeteria ! YHC always enjoys time spent with a wise brother !

Tool Time

gashouse visits the mountains

10 men resisted the comforts of the fartsack to take their DRP.   The men of Asheville were gracious to let YHC be the Q today.   As their were no FNGs present (at the beginning), an abbreviated disclaimer was given.  I’m an idiot.  If you follow me, you’re also an idiot.   I am not a professional, just a guy merely giving suggestions.  Don’t die.

Warmups: Happy Jacks, CDD and Toy Soldiers all X 15IC and Moroccan nightclubs X 50IC.  YHC tried to bring new things to Asheville, very pleased to see the warmups, minus the Moroccan nightclubs, needed a demo.

After a mosey to another parking lot (brief mumble chatter about gashouse moseys being more like sprints) we circled up for deconstructed burpees.  Just before starting, two men joined the fun.  Squats, leg thrusts, merkins, leg thrusts, up.  Start with 10, work our way down to 1.

mosey again to the covered area by the school entrance.  YHC wanted to find some dry area as to not make the regulars hate me.   Time for a little Huckleberry 123.   Similar to Dora 123, but with a little twist.   Instead of counting in aggregate, each man completes their exercise while their partners runs laps around the parking lot.  P1 runs, P2 does 100 flutter kicks – switch.  P1 runs, P2 does 200 mountain climbers – switch.  P1 runs, P2 does 300 lbc.

mosey around to the start of the school for a favorite of YHC; wall work.   On the wall for 25 donkey kicks OYO.  then ascending testicles.  10 merkins at 15 degrees, 10 at 45 degrees and 10 at as close to 90 degrees as you can get.   Strong work by all, especially strong work by Pillsbury.    Back on the wall for hip slappers x 10 on each side.  then circle up for 10 burpees OYO.

mosey back to the launching point in just enough time for 22 merkins to honor our vets.  TIME.

COT – announcements: Q schedule was filled for next week.  prayer requests: pray for each other.  BOM: YHC took us out in prayer.

Moleskin – I appreciate the opportunity to Q, men.  I really enough being amongst this group.  It’s easy to see the bonds that have been, and continue to be formed.   Keep pushing the rock and letting iron sharpen iron.  AYE!
