I was awesome to be back with some of my F3  brothers!  On a side note, Covid-19 made me miss my 1-year anniversary with F3, I guess I’ll have to look forward to my 2-year anniversary!

Stinky Bird out.

Its gonna rain again… let do some work before.

Yet again this week, they are calling for rain of some sort late Monday thru sometime Thursday. So lets get some work in while its dry-ish.

YHC rolled right behind Dry Rub to find 3 out for EC and Gastone sitting in his truck. Seeing there was at least a few minutes, YHC pried a reluctant Gastone out of his truck for a quick mosey to the maintenance shack and back. Upon our arrival back, 2 were back from EC and more were arriving.

When 0530 hit, 7 were assembled to join YHC.

Since there was no FNG, a short/simple disclaimer was given followed by The Pledge.

Warmup:
10 SSH IC
5 Burpees

The Work:
Lets mosey heading down Riverwood Pkwy.

We stopped at every 3rd light long enough to do 15-20 monkey humpers, concluding with 25 toward Union Rd.

Lets mosey over to the Food Lion.

Time for some 11’s between the arrows. HRM at one end and squats at the other. Oh, and do a burpee at the cart corral every trip.

Quick check of the time when we were done… 25 left, lets head to the wall near Arline’s.

Have a seat with arms over your head.

When JJ said go, we went up the hill to Union Rd and did 20 American Hammers and return to the wall.
When Dry Rub said go, we went up and did 20 Mtn Climbers and return.
When Dirt said go, we went up and did 20 Heels to Heaven (YHC had to overrule Dirt as he was taking too long) and return
YHC doesn’t remember who said go, but Gastone volunteered Crunchy Frogs at the top and return.

Quick check of the time… 15 left.

Lets mosey. We took a scenic tour of this parking lot, around all the light poles and lane marker to end up on the stairs for 25 calf raises.

From there, mosey on behind the soon to be Planet Fitness to use the ramp for some Bear Crawls, but just like last time, there are not just one, but two occupied cars parked back there. So continue on to the parking lot on the front side.

After a quick word about temptation (You can’t just “resist” temptation. In order to try to “resist”, you focus on the temptation. Whatever you focus on, persists in your brain and you will ultimately give in to it. For temptations, you must refocus your mind on something else. Refocus on God.), YHC called normal ole, high school suicides using the lines in the parking lot.

Once all were done, we meandered for a bit heading back toward the start. This ultimately turned into a mosey and stopped at the wall in front of the bank.
Here we did 20 dips – right leg up followed by 20 step-ups right leg only. Followed by 20 dips – left leg up followed by 20 step-ups left leg only.

During this activity, there was a Gump sighting. He had been looking for the SandLot crew for nearly 40 mins. He chose to mosey on instead of finishing up with us.

Looking at the time on the clock, we still have 4 whole minutes.

So a quick mosey to Martha’s entrance for 10 big boys and then everyone attempted to beat Gold Digger’s record on the way back to SnoBalls. YHC isn’t sure about the standings, but JJ gave it a good try.

And that is time.

Sometime between YHC arrival back to Snoballs and retrieving of my phone, Stroganoff appeared from the gloom having put in his work for the Mortimer with his pack on Gastone’s hill.

Announcements:
Nothing really new here…
21st Convergence/5 Yr Anniversary at Martha’s 0700
No Fellowshoot that day. Will be rescheduled.
P200 coming up.
Mortimer coming up.
GoRuck, Spartan and Community Run all the first weekend in April.

Prayer Requests:
JJ’s Dad
TimeFrame’s M

Dirt prayed us out.

Moleskin:
By God’s grace I have never had to battle anxiety, depression or addiction. I do not know what it is like. But know this. It is real, it hard, it can wear you down. But to all that do suffer, remember two things…
1. God is there with you through it all. Call out to Him.
2. We (your friends and family) are there for you. If you have a need, just reach out; to pray, to talk, to whatever.

Watts Up powering down.

From the hip at the lot of sand

11 came in excitement to experience the stupid shuffle first hand. All were over joyed and could not hold in their happiness. Simultaneously and suddenly, @5:30 the pax, started ssh that some day would never end. Followed by some merkins, squats and some planks.

Discipline at Sandlot

Clear, nice morning after the Super Bowl with 10 men starting the week off right! No Sister Act I guess, so let’s go.
SSH x 10, Cotton Pickers x 10, MNC’s x 10.

Mosey to the park and then back up to the top of the park parking lot for Blimps.
Burpees x 5, take a lap around the large parking lot.
Lunges x 10, Burpees x 5, lap.
Imperial Walkers x 15, Lunges x 10, Burpees x 5, lap.
Merkins x 20, Imperial Walkers x 15, Lunges x 10, Burpees x 5, lap.
Plank Jacks x 25, Merkins x 20, Imperial Walkers x 15, Lunges x 10, Burpees x 5, lap.
Squats x 30, Plank Jacks x 25, Merkins x 20, Imperial Walkers x 15, Lunges x 10, Burpees x 5, Mosey down to the picnic shelter.

80 D’s. 20 Dips in cadence called by Slaw, 20 Dollies in cadence, 20 Dying Cockroaches in cadence. 20 Derkins (single count) and Gastone had to pick up the count due to lack of breath by the Q.
Mosey back to the park entrance for Squats while we wait for the six.

Mosey to the bank with the rocks. Select a rock. Curls x 40, Overhead presses x 40, Curls x 40. Gently place the rock back where you found it. EZ Rider chose poorly!

Mosey back across the street to the bank with the well-lit parking area for a short version of Rugby sprints. Exercise until I say Sprint then sprint to the end of the parking lot, sprint back, then walk back. Only time for two exercises. I believe Hillbillies (which somehow may have offended Watts Up) and Squats. That Stinky Bird is fast!

My word for 2020 is Discipline. I need it in all phases of my life. My fitness, my diet, my faith and worship, my attitude, my finances, my relationships, my job. I didn’t want to drive 25 minutes from home to South Gastonia at 5 am to put myself through this workout so how did I get here. I saw where Stinky Bird asked for Q’s so I signed up. I knew that would make me set my alarm and get up early for an early morning weekday workout. I try to do the same thing signing up for races and relays so I have to push to train for them.
I’ve read this before but it always a good reminder from Jocko. Excerpts from Discipline Equals Freedom by Jocko Willink.

“Don’t worry about motivation. Motivation is fickle. It comes and goes. It is unreliable and when you are counting on motivation to get your goals accomplished—you will likely fall short. So. Don’t expect to be motivated every day to get out there and make things happen. You won’t be. Don’t count on motivation. Count on Discipline. You know what you have to do. So: MAKE YOURSELF DO IT. You do that with Discipline. It happens in the darkness of the early morning. In solitude. Where I try. And I try. And I try again. With everything I have, to be the best that I can possibly be. Better than I was yesterday. Better than people thought I could be. Better than I thought I could be. Faster and stronger and smarter. And claim one victory that no one can ever take away from me. Ever. A victory that is earned every single day. A victory of determination and will and discipline. A victory achieved because: I will not stop. Discipline Equals Freedom”.

Pledge (Thanks to Gastone for reminding me).

I have been to workouts down there where I was close to the front of the pack but not today! The guys were pushing hard and leaving me behind. Thanks to the guys in SOGA for the push!

Don’t Be A Guppy

With forecast for rain, YHC wasn’t sure how many would post to celebrate one year. 0530 hit with 7 circled for the party.

Started with the pledge and then we went right to the warmup:
Goof Balls x 12 IC
Merkins x 12 IC
Moroccan Night Clubs x 12 IC

Now let’s get to work.

Mosey to Union and the down to the Fidelity Bank.

Countdown.
Four exercises.
Start with 12 reps.
Then run around the bank (long route)
Then do 11 reps.
Repeat until down to 1.
Exercises:
Merkins
Squats
Reverse Crunch
Burpees

I should mention that along the mosey, many avoided Whoopee as there many puddles in the path. There was an tad bit of grumbling about it being wet, when YHC called reverse crunches. This was made louder when it actually started raining.
F3 is held outside RAIN or shine.

I apologize to the bank customer who apparently was too afraid to stop at the ATM, even after we all completed all our reps and moved on.

Speaking of moving on, we moved to the drive up teller area for some calf raises.
25 Right Foot
25 Left Foot
25 Toes Out
25 Toes In

A quick lap around the bank or see if the customer was still lurking. They were not, so we did the 25 Monkey Humpers back in the teller area.

Even though we were literally across the street from our next destination, we reversed our route stopping at the wall in front of South State Bank.

10 Step Ups
15 Dips
5 Step Ups
7 Dips – Right Leg off ground
7 Dips – Left Leg off ground
5 Step Ups

Back to Snoballs

And that is time.

Announcements:
GoRuck Training every Saturday, starting 1 hour before workout. Training will include rucking and other activities. May or may not be back for start of normal workout, but will be back for COT. At Gashouse this week with Whoopee as Q. 0600 start.

Rice and Beans tomorrow. There is still room, if you want to join. This is worth doing. Great experience.

Prayer Requests:
TimeFrame’s M
Dry Rub’s M
Gumby’s Recovery

YHC took us out.

Moleskin:
Shout out to all PAX of F3. I can’t express what F3 means to me. The encouragement, support and comradery is unbelievable, not to mention the physical and mental changes.

On a slightly different note, be sure to keep an eye on all aspects of your life. It’s easy to focus on one part to get it accelerating and then have others slump.

If you need help or to talk, reach out to a brother.

James 1:19-20
… everyone must be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

Watts Up powering down.

What is handy on a trail?

YHC roamed around this AO to gather inspiration as no weinke was prepared. Along the way saw Gastone, Dirt and TimeFrame out getting a little EC.

0530 hits and there is a late Christmas gift of a FNG. A Stinky Bird cousin. He hails from DC, so we will give him a good start and send him to Monk.

With the FNG present, a more complete introduction/disclaimer is given.

Pledge

Warm Up:
Goof Balls IC x 15
Merkins IC x 10
MNCs IC x 10

Suggestions:
Mosey to ramp behind Planet Fitness.
Bear Crawl ramp x2.
Monkey Humpers waiting on 6, then 20 more.

Mosey to steps between parking lots.
25 each of:
R. Foot Calf Raises
L. Foot Calf Raises
Toes In Calf Raises
Toes Out Calf Raises

Mosey up and down rows of parking lot, around the poles, until we are at entrance nearest Dollar General.

11s are called with Plank Jacks at bottom and Squats at the top.

Let’s move a little down the hill and have a seat on the wall.
After a bit we did 15 Air Presses IC
Put R. Foot on L. Knee, and then switched it around.

Mosey to top of hill, 20 Merkins and then back to wall.

Rinse and Repeat the Wall work.
Mosey to top of hill and do 20 Mtn Climbers and then back to wall.

Similar wall work, switching Air Presses for Marching.
Mosey to top of hill for 25 SSH and 20 Squats.

YHC posed a trivia question at this point…
“How many times has Ohio State beat Clemson in a bowl Game?”
Whatever the PAX answered, that was how many burpees were going to be called. The initial answer given was two, but they settled on the right answer of 0. Oh well, maybe next time.

From there we moseyed around the parking lot some to end up in front of the Food Lion.
Here, 5 Pax would say when they started F3 and who EH’d them. After the 5, mosey to end of the lot and back. This was repeated until all had spoken.

Mosey to the wall in front of the bank.
15 Dips
15 Step Ups each leg.

Still a couple of mins, so
15 Incline Merkins
15 Derkins

Meander to start to close out the time.

Announcements:
Christmas Party this Saturday.
Murph on Wednesday 0700 at Martha Rivers. No Labyrinth.

YHC took us out.

Welcome to William Ryan, now known as Spork! Hope you join another DC transplant from GasHouse, Monk.
Glad to see Belding come back and always good to have JK2 make an appearance.

As we go into 2020, remember this from Romans 8:18:
For I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us.

Watts Up powering down.

9 Ladies Dancing

YHC rolled in trying to come up with a way to spice up today. Dirt and EZ Rider were out getting EC, Gastone was in his truck. Clavin arrived and at the 5 min mark, a line of vehicles arrived bringing the total to 9.

Coincidentally, there are 9 days until Christmas…

0530 arrives with no FNGs, so an abbreviated disclaimer is given. Before beginning warmup, YHC posed the question “What was given on the 9th day of Christmas?” and then commenced warmup:
SSH x 10 IC
Moroccan Night Club x 10 IC
Merkins x 10 IC
Squat x 15 OYO

YHC then wanted the answer to the question posed. The general consensus was “Lords a Leaping”, but as you can tell from the title, that was wrong, so a 5 Burpee penalty was imposed.

Before continuing, YHC inquired about the gift on the 8th day and proceeded to mosey down Riverwood Pkwy toward the doctor’s office. Along the way YHC was treated to the PAX rendition of the 12 days of Christmas as they try to figure out the answer. About half way, they come to the correct answer of Maids a Milking.

Although Turtleman hasn’t posted since late Oct, we will still do one of his favorites at the doctor’s office.
Long jump up the entrance, run back down and do 15 reverse crunches. It was soooo much fun we did it again.

YHC “realized” he had forgotten the Pledge, so time to mosey back to South State Bank. There was some chatter about we would end up there anyway, but YHC didn’t want to forget it.

Having knocked the Pledge, time to move back down Riverwood.
Arriving at a light pole, switched to a side-step/karaoke. At the next, face the other direction and continue. At the next change to a skip. We stopped at the next pole and every third one there after to do monkey humpers. 27, then 18, and finally 9 before continuing to the bottom of “Gastone’s Hill”.

For the first trip…
Mosey to the top, 15 heels to heaven, and back down.

For the second trip…
What was called didn’t work out as YHC thought it would. Instead of trying explain here, there was nurring involved and squats and all ended up at the top of the hill. 25 LBCs and back down we go.

For the third trip.
Mosey to the first mailbox, do 1 squat. Mosey to second, do 2 squats. Continue pattern and stop at the cross street.

Back down the hill and then up to the Dollar General. In the parking lot, 5s were called with Mike Tyson on one end, JJ offered American Hammers on the other and Clavin offered Lunges as the means of conveyance. The lunge was Omaha’d after 1 round due to time.

Down the hill and over to the stairs between the parking lots for a little calf work.
25 right leg
25 left leg
25 toes pointed out
25 toes pointed in

From there we went behind the Planet Fitness to use their ramp for 2 rounds of Bearcrawl.

Now on the home stretch, we headed to the wall in front of South State Bank for 2 sets of 18 Dips and 9 Derkins before returning to our start point.

And that was time.

Announcements:
Bedpan talked about the Dallas Christian Ministries. If you didn’t have money, you can go online (link on slack) and either give there or find a child in need, and provide what they ask for.
Defib covered the 40/50 challenge concluding CSAUP this Saturday. (21-Dec)
Convergence the following Saturday at Gashouse 0700.(28-Dec)

Prayer Requests:
Dry Rub’s M in hospital
Bedpan family – M had dental work, 2.0 is sick and K9 had to go to vet.

YHC took us out.

Moleskin:
There are two thing that I feel a need to put out there.

This is a tough time of year. Many of our PAX/family have had losses this year. The stress of family, work, finances, etc all stack in there too. Remember your brothers are there for you. If you are struggling or just want to vent, reach out. More importantly, God is there for you. Pray.

In my Sunday school class, we just started a study on James. James is a blunt, in your face book of the Bible.
James 1:2-4
Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Remember, this adventure called life is not going to be easy. But by relying on God’s strength, and not your own, you will grow closer to him, be more like Jesus and be able to persevere.

Watts Up powering down.
