10 Pax worked our way up and down the hill at Midoriyama on this hot, but rain-free evening. I knew we would be doing hill work, so the options were: a smaller hill in the sun or a steeper hill in the shade. We went with option 2 and still worked up a sweat. Freight said he should have tapered..I’m glad he didn’t. Wet Nutz invited me to the Yank Saturday for a real beatdown, then told me his agenda…I’m glad to have an excuse. Having said that, with Ville to Ville on Saturday the AO’s may be light, so go support a workout if you’re not running!

While no one seemed to care about a non-running GD workout (about as rare as a Leppard merkin), PAX came crawling out of the woodwork for an all-running GD workout (about as common as an SA fart).
9 PAX joined in Plan A, 5 stayed for Plan B, which made us about as 69 compliant as Slaw in the navy.
Plan A was to run as far as possible, stopping every quarter mile for either 5 burpees, 10 merkins, 15 squats, or 20 SSH. Most got around 4.5 miles.
Plan B was to chill out at the flag and do the AMRAP crap from Digger Day 1/2. I think all agreed Plan A was preferable.
Until next time,
GD
It was raining so I knew the tough ass PAX of F3 Gastonia would still post at Midoriyama on Tuesday. Well 6 did anyway. There’s usually a bit more than that. I’m sure it wasn’t the rain though. Probably a wreck in all the traffic on 85. Shortage on face mask maybe. Anyway 6 is right in the middle of what some say is the desired number of 5-7 per small workout group. Dr Seuss said Alexa told him there was going to be a break around 5:30. Then he noted she was in a bit of a mood. Women! I’m I right? Well she lied and it it kept raining so we broke out in a sprint to the shelter down by the lake. On the upside Linus wore his duck shoes so he was prepared! No bad weather just bad gear right? Having been through this many times I always have that rainy day workout ready. It had been a while since I’d used it though. There were some strange exercises even I didn’t recognize.
Mosey to the shelter
Warmup:
SSH, morrocan mightclub, jump rope, high knees, superman, iron cross
The Thang:
40 seconds on 20 second break
Merkin, Flutters, squat jump

10 burpees
ski burps, lbfc, calf raises
10 burpees
Rinse and repeat
After the 2nd round we had enough time for 3 more exercises then it was off to the start
COT:
Prayer Request-Def’s son, SA’s daughter, those struggling during this time.
YHC got to Midoriyama in good time from Charlotte due to the lack of the usual hordes of non driving idiots on I-85 South. Something good did come from the COVID-19 virus. Hit the parking lot at Midoriyama to see a handful of PAX sitting on the sidewalk chatting as YHC walked to them.
A truck pulls up, a window rolls down, a 9 mil started busting caps, no wait, wrong story. We hear “Are you F3?”. We replied, “Yes.” The truck didn’t drive off. It parked and Whopper joined our group, who informed us that he had been to Painlab at the Schiele a time or two. He had picked the wrong day to come to Midoriyama for the first time. Not really, glad to meet you and see you come out to push the rock at the toughest afternoon workout in F3 nation. I have heard that it really gets easier. It also gets hotter.
More PAX show up. YHC shows the curious First F which of the two weinkes would he pick. Broke states neither as the one called “The D-O-L-P-H” starts with burpees and only gets worse. The second is called “Pole Dancin'” and all you do is run from light pole to light pole and like 500 exercises.
Site Q Wojo shows up with a shovel flag. Yay!
It’s 5:30. Time to get after it.
Pledge
Warm up

After the twosies completed The Dolph we moseyed over to the swap places with Broke’s guys so they could enjoy The Dolph and we could do some Pole Dancin’. Luckily they were finishing the flying squirrels as we arrived.
Full Disclosure. YHC didn’t complete all 50 hand release merkins so finished them at home in the driveway for his punishment. YHC also didn’t instruct the other group that YHC eliminated his triple nickel portion, but, we actually lunged, squatted and merkined up that dang steep hill.
After each group finished, mosey back to flag. 6:15. Quitting time.
Announcements: Ville to Ville. Sign up, plenty of spots for more teams. Believe we have five full teams now.
Prayers: Montross’ M, families, Def Leppard’s foot, each other.
Thanks for letting me Q!
I was super excited for the official reopening of Midoriyama so of course I gave myself the Q before anyone could ask for it. We had some great weather and I wanted to change it up a bit with my weinke. I also knew that we would more than likely have over 10 HIMS in attendance so I planned ahead. I really wanted everyone to feel like we were one group instead of two, so I set up the workout so that we could split into 2 groups but still be doing the same workout if needed.
I arrived to Midoriyama about 30 mins early to setup the small field for my weinke. On one end of the field I set up two tires, agility ladder, and some cones (disc golf discs). On the other end we would be using the hill for some triple nickel. I drove back over to the flag (which i actually forgot to bring) and quickly realized that we would definitely be splitting the group into 2. I asked Freight to help and lead the other group, gave him a copy of my weinke and a brief explanation. 5:30 16 HIMS lets role
Warm up:
- Don Q x 10ic
- SSH x 10ic
Mosey to Field
The Thang:
Once we split into 2 Groups Frieghts group started a round of Triple Nickel and my group started on the Plyometric course. The group at the plyometric course would continuously run the drills until the other group was done with their set of triple nickel, then we would rotate. We did this for 3 sets.

- Werkins – Squats
- Diamonds – Big Boys
- Plyometric Course:
- Tire Jumps
- Ladder Drills
- Icky Shuffle
- Lateral In & Out
- Forward In & Out
- Shuffles back to beginning
After we were done with the last set ea. group circled up at their last location and did countdowns.
- Countdowns from 10:
- SSH
- Flying Squirrels
- Merkins
- LBC’s
- Stretches
- Holy Crosses
- Scorpions
Mosey to Flag
This ended up being a pretty tough workout. Thanks to Freight for helping out, and to everyone who posted for coming out. It was great to have a big group again.
You shoulda been there….
17 PAX posted on the 17th day of March which was St. Patrick’s Day. Glad to see everyone post with all the craziness in the world today. With that being said we definitely practiced “Social Distancing” and were a couple other F3 Regional Corona-virus protocols. 17:30 is on us so let’s begin….
Warm-up:
SSH X 17 IC
Don Q’s X 17 IC
Let’s roll….
Thang:
YHC wanted to Q a workout that spaced everyone out but still had the mubblechatter to go with it. It went like this…
Spread out and perform 40 squats, 30 Hand-release merkins, 20 burpees, 400 meter run (rinse and repeat 4 times)
With that completed and about 15 minutes to go, let’s head to the hill for Triple Nickel…
Each PAX nurred (ran backwards up the hill) and performed 5 jump squats at the top and ran down the hill to complete 5 WWI’s X 5
With mubblechatter going on, everyone must have caught their breath so let’s roll…we ended up at the parking lot across from the flag for another round of Triple Nickel…it went like this…5 Mike Tyson’s on one curb, run to the other curb but stopping for 1 burpee in the middle, then 5 Tiger squats on the other curb X 5
Time…Strong work by all today!!
I always am grateful for the opportunity to lead a F3 workout. Today was special cause it showed that with everything going on in the world that we can still better ourselves. YHC discussed “Faith over Fear” and trusting in the Lord during tough times!! He is the all knowing and knows the final outcome of everything!! Take this time to glorify God each and everyday.
Thanks again and until next time…PIZZA MAN IS OOOOOOOOUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTT!!
Annoucements:
-AO’s are still open in our region but refer to the F3 Gastonia protocols when posting or Qing.
I took the Q over for Pockets who couldnt make it. The rain blew in about an hour before the workout so I knew it would be a light crowd, but at 5:30pm I was the only person at Midoriyama. I hate you guys missed the best workout I’ve had in years.
Warmup – NONE
Thang-
Decided to do a Murph. I murdered it, too bad i forgot my watch. Both miles were under 6:00 easily, I did the pull ups straight through. Completed it so fast I decided to just do another for the heck of it. This one was a lil slower, maybe 6:15 pace and I had to take a break during the pull ups but oh well. I’m sure I still did it faster than Pizza Man has ever done a Murph. It’s really too bad no one was there to see it. It was a great day!
