Disney at Crossroads

6 HIM decided not to let a little rain keep them from getting better this morning. Some ran and some rucked, all stayed for QSource after. The transitional leadership style and vision of Walt Disney was discussed.

Murph tomorrow at Martha Rivers Park – 0700 (Mt. Hollywood is closed)

Bike ride, lunch and arcade in Forest City on June 3rd

Be praying for Huck, Turtleman, Mike Williams, Jackson Hall, those travelling and the graduates.

I’m Broke

Folsom Loop at Crossroads

When running at Crossroads, the approach is usually find someone I can stay with and try to follow them. This morning for some strange reason, I started with Gold Digger, (yes, I know he’s fast), Sister Act, Gumby and Pockets. Haze was dragging in late and Wirenut was taking off his shirt. Wiki and Seuss were long gone. Gumby had the route and I hung on all the way to the terrible hill on the Folsom lake loop. If you’ve been to Folsom for one of my or Round Up’s Q, you know the hill that got me. As the group pulled away from me, Pockets stayed with me even though he could’ve stayed with the faster group. We had a decent run and a good conversation about trying to be more unoffendable from a podcast I listened to a while back.

Announcements: F3 Lunch at The Lodge in Belmont Wednesday May 24th at noon.
Bike Ride on June 3rd in Hendersonville. See Purple Haze

Prayer Requests: Huck, Turtleman, Haze’s neighbor’s funeral is today, various injured Pax.

In Q Source, Blart made the call for each Q to select a leader and tell about them. I chose Rev. Billy Graham who I have admired many years. One point I made during our lesson was a man named Albert McMakin who was a farm hand at the Graham Dairy farm persuaded young Billy Graham to go hear an evangelist named Mordecai Ham. Young Billy was converted and started his life’s journey of evangelism. The point I took from that is, like Albert McMakin, you never know what a positive influence can do to change a person and how that change can lead to bigger things as well.

Walking through the valley

A lucky 13 posted to Crossroads with the majority staying for Q source after. Some ran, some rucked, and some even walked. Hate to see it. IR is taking it’s toll on the rock pushers. Last week Blart decided to take us in a new direction at Q source, after having gone through it 4-5  times. The Q picks someone they think of as a leader and teaches the rest of us a little about them and what makes them a leader. I covered Clive Staple Lewis as I just so happen to be reading through Mere Christianity. CS had many moments in his life that pointed me toward his leadership but the first one that caught my attention was his braodcast, during air raids in WW II, of what it means to be a Christian. This was an opportunity to reach and spread God’s word and provide hope in a time when it was likely lacking. These broadcast are what make up Mere Christianity. What I like most about him though is his reasoning. He is considered a Christian Apologist and has a common sense way of making sense out of why you should believe that Jesus is God made in human form. Take some time to read some of his work.

Pledge

Prayer Request-Lots! Keep praying for one another

I Warmed the Seat Up for You! (Crossroads 4-30-23)

Small crowd for another rainy Crossroads.  Apparently Blart and YHC were the only ones not to get the memo for the rain day ruck.  We did however test the service limits of the plumbing at the Ingles Fuel Mart with a back-to-back pre-run 💩.  I was coming in hot and Blart kindly advised me that he warmed the seat up for me!  Off we went running and rucking.  Back at 7:15 for a quick pledge, announcements, & COT.

Annoucements:  Time Laps (Whitewater Center 5-19) / Memorial Day Murph (7am @ the Sandlot) / Annihilation starting back up (JJ @ Gashouse in a couple of weeks) / Family Fun Day (June 3rd @ Forest City) Look for preblast soon / I know Flintstone had some more challenges but I can’t remember / Update your Slack profile with ICE info

Prayers:  Huckleberry, Turtleman, Virus’ M & 2.0, a couple others I couldn’t hear

Crossroads Q Fail

Poor planning by YHC caused a large group of PAX (including YHC) to arrive late for the COT. Good news is that a challenge was issued, Freight of course accepted (SA objected, but complied) and we did the hard thing. Pockets set a PR for a 10k and Double Stack is back after knee surgery. Everyone stayed for a QSource discussion on Missionality.

5k at Common Ground Friday

Convergence 7am at Midoriyama Saturday

Time laps at Whitewater Center May 19-20

Prayers for Mayor, Huck, Turtleman, Ratchet’s 2.0, Virus’ daughter, Tiger’s family, Sargento

Dr. Seuss took us out.
I’m Broke

Crossroads 3/26/23

YHC picked up the Q because he knew most of the PAX would be downrange running relay races. It was also YHC’s birthday. Yes, after 3 years of hanging on to 49, he finally hit RESPECT status. Rumors and not-so-well wishes of YHC’s demise have been blowing in the wind for a while now. Haters are gonna hate!

Some ran, a few rucked. We met for COT with a blatant disregard for the Pledge. Sorry, men. Big Q fail.

All stayed for Q source. Broke bought a cake and we had coffee and cake while discussing Q source! That’s a HIM right there! The topic was Team Development. Great discussion by the guys (as usual). YHC didn’t finish all the material, so chalk another Q fail up.

Picking up the 6

15 by my count at Crossroads Sunday. Broke and Slaw weren’t there. Getting complacent with their substantial lead in the compitition? We covered apprenticship afterwords at Q-Source. To the best of my recalection everyone stayed. Good job, way to hustle. Kinda busy, gotta go, bye!

Who’s going to step up and lead?

Another good crowd at Crossroads with a mix of runners and ruckers. All except Gold Digger were able to stay for a Qsource discussion on Sua  Sponte Leadership.

We see this type of leadership frequently in F3.  Someone steps up to Q a workout when the scheduled Q is late it can’t make it, a PAX comes up with a service project and executes it or maybe a PAX has a need and the next thing you know someone has put together a plan of how to help. Most of you that are taking the time to read this backblast are this type of leader…within F3. My question is, “Do you lead this way in other areas of your life?”

Do you step up to lead when there are issues at home, or do you leave that to your significant other?
Do you step up at work when something needs to get done, even if it doesn’t offer an immediate benefit?
Would you step up to lead a faith or civic organization or meeting?

Take some time to think about what you need to change in your life to be Freed to Lead in ALL areas and get motivated about it. As Jimmy V said, “ You + Motivation = Success.

Check out this link if you want to read about someone that exemplifies motivation. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kat_Cole
