Man the Sky-Q really was really laying down the white stuff as I slipped and slid my way into the Ingles parking lot. A quick look and I saw a lone Duke Energy truck ready for some work! Just two of us showed and only one with running attire so we decided to share a good fellowship walk rather than breaking a leg or ankle in the snow. The wind cut pretty hard as we headed towards town but when we finally made the return loop it was there that we truly got to enjoy the peaceful quietness of the snow storm… ok it was me & Wirenut so probably not a lot of quietness 🙂 We finished our walk and decided to head back to the house rather than mosey inside for a hot cup of joe. Nothing wrong with a recovery day and some 2nd F every now and then!

The Q-Source curriculum ended last week at the Coconut Horse. It has been a good year with steady attendance and many lessons learned. Without a study, Flintstone led Sunday with reflections on 2020 and lessons learned from Covid-19.
This Sunday, we will be doing another “custom” week with some contemplation on our goals for 2020. We will discuss developing your Word of the Year.
For context, One Word is a book by Jon Gordon. The idea is to choose one word that will drive you in 2021. Having done this for the last several years, I can tell you that it is a great force for personal change. To learn more about selecting your One Word, you can watch this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CShvhZ7D0fg
To prepare for Sunday, you can follow these steps…
- Determine the kind of person you want to become
- Identify the characteristics of that person
- Pick a word
My word for 2020 was “Present”. Seeing how distracted people become always looking at their phones when a human being is directly in front of them, I set out to try to give my undivided attention to people, especially my family and co-workers. If I spoke to you during this year, I hope I gave you my undivided attention.
Give some thought to what your word will be in 2021 and be ready to discuss this Sunday.

Men – it’s that time of year again. We will have our annual Christmas party on December 12th. The location will be Lewis Farms. 330 Lewis Road, Gastonia 28054. As a reminder, this is a grownup party, no 2.0s. So bring your wife and/or girlfriend and join us for a good time. The party will start at 6pm. You are encouraged to wear your most festive outfit. Please take a moment to complete the below information. The cost will be about 10.00/person. The final cost will not be known until we have a final count on the number of people attending. We have signups for plates, cups, drinks and such… but the main food will be catered by the Country Kitchen. Also, please take a moment to vote for the below awards. In the mean time and between time, please let me know if you have any questions. I (Huckleberry) can be reached at 704-914-5813 or at cb0913@icloud.com. OK all you rednecks and gun toting bearded beasts-
It’s finally here. We’ve got a date for the first shoot ’em up event, hopefully the first of many. This first one is going to be at Foothills Public Shooting Complex on Saturday, September 12. They open at 930 AM so the plan is get there around 930 AM, sign in and get set up to start shooting ASAP. Bring your own lunch and we can use their pavilion and eat lunch there at 12 noon. Anyone that wants to stay and shoot in the afternoon can do it, but I’ll probably have some chores to do and head out after that. By chores, I mean I’ll probably take a nap and get ready for the Tyson vs some other old man fight event at Allen Tate’s house that night-see a separate pre-blast from Huckleberry. I’ll be bringing my 9 mm pistol, 30-06 rifle, and .22 rifle. They also have skeet and trap if you are interested.
https://foothillspublicshooting.cc/ should get you to their website. Need to get on there and sign the waiver thing ahead of time.
Here are some specifics:
Date: Saturday, September 12: 930 AM
Fees:
$12 Admission
$5 per round of skeet/trap (25)
$10 steel target range (pistols only)
$2 lane fee
$1 for extra targets
Address: 283 Fielding Road, Cherryville, NC 28021
Bring your own gun, check out website and sign waiver ahead of time, bring your own ammo (they have some but may still have limited quantities in 9 mm), make sure you have right kind of ammo.
Pack a lunch and we can eat at their pavilion together after couple hours of shooting.
Let Whoopee know if you are a HC. If we have more than 15, I will need to make reservations.
Hope to see you there-Whoopee
I’m not even sure Roadie knows what a great job he did organizing a 2nd F event following all the guy’s efforts at the P200. Once gathered at the hotel, we agreed for dinner at either the Mellow Mushroom or Brazilian Steakhouse. After dinner, we took over the hotel lounge watching basketball, visiting with each other, or watching a vicious card game (Roadie was the big winner and Broke – well Broke was almost broke). Great job by Roadie.
