Word from recent sermon at Parkwood:

..to see God move in our daily lives: live in a constant awareness of the Holy Spirit, bathe ourselves in prayer, trust God every day. If we did, we’d be living on a constant mission trip, which is God’s design. God has given us that message..along with the provision of the Holy Spirit..to make that message known. The Lord is still working His story through our lives..individually and together.

It Could Have Been A Lot Worse

5 HIMS joined YHC for a sub Q at Mt Hollywood this morning.  I got a text from GoldDigger last night asking me where I was going to post. I told him I planned on Mt Hollywood and expected a text back about some EC. He did text me back, with the same idea in mind; but some unforeseen circumstances came up in the interim; so the EC text turned into a sub request. I was happy to be able to help my brother and hope the guys got their money’s worth as this was a burpee and running-free workout.

Isaiah 40:28‭-‬29 ESV

God never suffers setbacks, and He helps those who do.

YHC took us out.

I would encourage those who either haven’t been to Mt Hollywood in awhile or haven’t lead a workout there, to pick up a Q. Mt Hollywood is terrific site with lots to offer: a smooth parking lot, benches,  good wall space, plenty of other parking areas within running distance, great hills on which to Nur or Route 66,  and a sunrise which will not disappoint.

Enjoyed the fellowship, guys! Good work!

Humble Lessons at the Sword

5 pax came  out for a run or ruck this Monday.

Word:

I appeal to you therefore, brothers,[a] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.[b] Do not be conformed to this world,[c] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

“As its (the gospel’s) truth affects the way we think, it begins to change the way we feel; that, in turn affects what we want, and the way we behave. Thus, the gospel fuels the way we live.”

False Starts

Only 4 at the Storm this morning but we kept moving.  SA was the first one to arrive ..to an empty parking lot. After being slaughtered in Warmup, we began the Four-Corner Escalator; it seems I forgot how to Escalate properly, so we had to go back to the start. Then, during Circle time, Vidal tried to take the easy way out and run the perimeter, despite being told not to. Start again.

Word:

In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf;  for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. John 16:26‭-‬27 ESV

“The Lord commands us to pray. Don’t be reluctant to ask because of your unworthiness. You can never have a worthiness of your own. If a sense of unworthiness would prevent you from praying right now, then it might always hinder you from praying. ” Charles Spurgeon

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6‭-‬7

Instead of fighting anxiety, we can use it as a springboard to bending our hearts to God. Instead of trying to suppress anxiety, manage it, we can turn our anxiety toward God. When we so that, we’ll discover that we’ve slipped into continuous prayer. (From..A Praying Life)

All Present and Accounted For

10 pax came out for a run or walk and made it back without getting lost..or shredded.

Some of the guys seemed to doubt my navigational skills as I said we would run the Bethesda Oaks neighborhood route (the Sargento Route) backwards. Having never run it this way, I drove the route forward and backward and memorized the directions.  No one got lost. Sargento said he almost had a run-in with a shredder, but ended up making it back in one piece.

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Romans 5:1,2 ESV

“Peace with God takes care of the past..He will no longer hold our sins against us. Access to God takes care of the present..we can come to him at any time for the help we need. Hope of the glory of God takes care of the future..one day we will share in his glory.”  (Warren Wiersbe)

4,3,2,1

Great weather for run/ruck at the Sword. 4 attended, 3 ran, 2 had new shoes, 1 rucked.

Message:

What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in[a] him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:

“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
    and whose sins are covered;
blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”

“But God justifies the ungodly..because there are no godly for Him to justify! He put our sins on Christ’s account that He might put Christ’s righteousness on our account. Once we are justified, our contains Christ’s perfect righteousness and can never again contain our sins. Christians do sin, and these sins need to be forgiven if we are to have fellowship with God, but these sins are not held against us.”  Warren Wiersbe
