Three is not a crowd

It was great to see these  2 men show today that had been MIA for a short stint. All of us seem to have some injury that we were nursing and would have given us every right to fart sack, but we didn’t.

There were 8 HIM who bellied up for a big serving at The Pub this morning. One of them was Olsen, a regular at The Storm now making his first appearance at the region’s premium running AO. This is what happened…

Pledge of Allegiance

Announcement that we would do the Mud Route today. Only named so because on our maiden voyage many month ago, Seuss, Waterboy and I think Stroganoff couldn’t keep themselves out of the muddy area where the sidewalk ended. Hence, the Mud Route. It’s not really muddy though, perfectly paved roads and sidewalk for miles.

It goes like this: R onto Hoffman, R onto Hudson, R onto Lowell-Bethesda, R into the neighborhood, L, L, L onto Titman, L onto Hoffman, L into the Pub

Everyone made it back safely! AYE!!!

Prayer requests: Linus’ dad, Turtleman, Roscoe’s father in law, Breaker’s daughter in law found a job!

Announcements: Roscoe needed a bike rack but found one immediately

Jacked Up Leg 5K / Crossroads

YHC rolled into the parking lot prepared for a little solo bike ride, or so I thought… dang it, forgot the helmet again!  Following the ridicule I received from Mayor the last time and the fact that I am a “Safety Guy” I decided to sit and read up on the day’s QSource Qpoint (Correction) when a few minutes later in rolled Broke.  I decided to join him for an 80% 5K as a warm up for the Jacked Up Leg 5K later.  As we rolled back into Ingles the lot was busy with HIMs.  11 in all showed for the fundraiser 5K.

Broke quickly decided to complete his 100% with a blistering 7:05 out the gate but Balljoint would have nothing of the sort so round about the college entrance he decided he had carried YHC long enough and set his sites on the lead HIM.  Within short order, a homicide was committed before my very eyes as Balljoint implemented an excellent kill shot… but of course by this time I was far enough back I probably would not be considered a creditable witness in a court of law!  As the battle raged, I came across several other PAX puttin the work in.  Gave a shout out to Termite as I didn’t realize he was back from his western sabbatical.  All said and done, Balljoint was awarded the prestigious “Jacked Up Leg” along with a couple of new PRs for himself and others.  Some heavy rock pushin was done today… nice work men!  Now inside for the QSource.

Batting Practice at The Goat

13 went down to the Rec Center to get in some swings and some steps in The Gloom.  Here’s what I remember:

Longer than normal disclaimer today with us swinging bats before sunrise, still didn’t stop YHC from trying to take out a PAX.

The Thang:

  • 15 x SSH (IC)

Mosey to Floyd & Blackies for Sizzle Suicides.

Starting from Floyd & Blackies, up the hill on 8th:

  • Run 1 pole – 10 LBCs
  • Run back – 10 LBCs
  • Run 2 poles – 20 LBCs
  • Run back – 20 LBCs
  • Run 3 poles – 30 LBCs
  • Run Back – 30 LBCs
  • Run 4 poles – 40 LBCs

Next, we wind through the apartments of the old school building to the steps of the coliseum.  Here’s what we did there:

Group 1:

Up and down the bleachers (not the steps) with

  • 10 x Hilbillies at the top
  • 10 x Dips at the bottom

Up and down the long set of steps with

  • 10 x Hand-release Merkins at the top

At the bottom by the field for

  • People’s Chair – any time you release, it’s 5 Merkins

Rotate through these 3 stations

Group 2:

Batting Practice

Soft toss tennis balls and try to crush them over the fence with a wooden bat.  The rest of the PAX are fielding.

  • Home Run – 5 burpees for all PAX
  • Caught Fly Ball – 5 burpees for hitter

Each PAX gets 5 hits

BP was fun, but no homers today.  Spiderman had a ground-rule double.  YHC confidently stepped up having hit one out in practice the day before and swung as hard as possible, only to have the wet handle of the bat slip completely, losing grip, and nearly hitting Freon who was walking nearby.  Needless to say, YHC became a contact hitter at that point.

We moseyed back to the start for some Mary:

  • Virus – 10 x American Hammers (IC)
  • Boudin – 15 x Flutter Kicks (IC)
  • Gator – 10 x Heels to Heaven (IC)
  • Dirt – 10 x Scissor Kicks (IC)
  • Pilgrim’s Progress – 10 x Dying Cockroaches (IC)
  • BOS – 15 x Monkey Humpers (IC)
  • Spiderman – 10 x Peter Parkers (IC)

Announcements:

  • 2nd F Lunch @ Bubba’s
  • BOS’s 2.0 collecting new or gently used athletic shoes – Drop off with BOS or at Floyd and Blackies
  • Jacked Up Leg 5K at Crossroads – Sunday 6/27 @ 6:30
  • Bottom’s Up @ Primal

Prayer Requests:

  • Turtleman
  • Boudin’s son flying solo
  • YHC’s M on last day at work
  • All PAX traveling

Moleskin:

I was definitely excited about this one.  It’ll be back, but reformatted with more homers.  As someone who played baseball growing up, there is a fundamental need to swing a bat.  Also the need to continue to get better, and that includes planning these workouts.  Looking forward to the next one.

Grateful for the opportunity to lead.

The Bed Pan is Full!

Operation Mango

PAINOPOLY was introduced to the PAX of Belmont this AM. The game has been a great addition to the weinke rotation and with a hectic, long hour work week this was a no brainer to pull out given I had zero time to create a weinke. We had an FNG join us thanks to ShortSale. Welcome Tin Man! This Respect PAX had double knee replacement back in April I think I heard. Replaced both knees with some bionic titanium!! Sounds expensive but he’s in IT Security so his Ransomware collections over the years helped cover the cost. These are the kind of men we need to keep an eye out for and EH. No, not the rich guys with millions in Bitcoin, but they guys out there on IR, recovering from surgery. Good work Short Sale!

Great fellowship and strong work for the six of us. Remember to practice good form. Thanks to Flintstone for requesting demos on most all of the moves. Quite often I forget that some may not know the proper lifting moves & techniques so thanks for keeping me honest and the Pax safe from injury!!

Aye!

HIPAA

Last Q

On this glorious hump day, 8 men beat the fartsack to get better. This is what happened…

We welcomed an FNG to our ranks today, one who’s been EH’ed for quite a long time by many PAX. He worked as hard as any of us and hopefully will be back soon.

Disclaimer

Warmup – Goofballs, Don Quixotes IC, the patented L over R IC

Mosey to the back of the school for the Thang.

The Deck of Death

This was to be a very straight forward workout. Do whatever the card says. All face cards were to be 25 reps of the shown exercise. Jokers would be a run to the front of the school. It only took a couple cards before the first Joker came up, run! The lack of music was complained about on the run (go figure) so when we got back YHC cranked up the trusty iPhone to max volume and play random songs.

Back to pushing the rock! Everything was going great until time was running short and we had to pick up the pace. For the last 10 minutes we had to double time it. With a few select card omissions we made it through just in time. Aye!

Mosey back to the start for namorama, prayers and announcements.

It was great having an FNG with us. Always be EHing men. If we’re not growing we’re dying! This goes for our region and each of us in life. Keep growing men!

Announcements: 2nd F Saturday at noon, 5k at Crossroads

Prayer requests: Turtleman, Linus’ dad, former Belmont PD office Buck Buchanan had motorcycle wreck and in bad shape, Feta (YHC’s 2.1) job opportunity
