1/28/22 Tequila Sunrise

Short Disclaimer

Pledge – Half of us faced the shovel flag and the other half faced the flag at the school.  We were equally enthusiastic about this under-utilized practice though.

The Work:

Mosey to Glenmere neighborhood.  I asked the PAX if they wanted to do Partner Dora or Individual Dora.  I heard two votes for Partner Dora so we did Individual Dora.  Merewood Rd and Glen Arbor Drive combine to make a loop through the neighborhood.  There are 10 streetlights along this route.  Lap 1 – Run the loop doing 10 Merkins at each light.  Stop in front of Buckeye’s house to do 15 Monkey Humpers.  Hopefully his RING doorbell picked up the group doing these.  Lap 2 – Run the loop doing 20 squats at each light and 15 Monkey Humpers for Buckeye.  Lap 3 – Run the loop and do 30 core exercises (PAX choice) at each light and of course, 15 Monkey Humpers for Buckeye.

Mosey to the entrance of the neighborhood to do 5 Burpees for the train.

Mosey back to the flag.

Lots of good conversation by the PAX today.

A cold one at the Pub

10 Eskimo wannabes showed up in 23 degree weather at the Pub for a nice brisk 5 mile mosey.  No one froze to death, no reported frostbite and all were better off for having posted.  Remember that that which does not kill you makes you stronger.  Resolve yourself to push yourself mentally and physically everyday

use the black handrail for back pull ups (5 wide arm, 5 regular, 5 close hand)

run to Trump Wall climb and 10 hand release merkins, climb down Trump Wall

do 10 dips on bleachers

Repeat above for 5 reps (Sarlacc Triple Nickel)

4 minutes of Cherry pickers

Volt and Stogie leave

Indian Run back to main parking lot (2 burpees for guy in back)

Circle up for Iron Hulk 1:4 ratio (1 merkin: 4 arm press)

Downtown had an open Q spot, so I was thinking of taking it again this week if nobody else stepped up. Ball Joint asked me about a Co-Q, if it was available.   Two Canoes are better than one, let’s do it!!!

Warm-Up with Ball Joint

20 SSH, 1 Burpee

15 Abe Vigoda, 2 Burpees

10 Toy Soldiers, 3 Burpees

10 Gravel Pickers, 4 Burpees

The Thang:

Ball Joint handed over to me for the first part of the workout. Mosey towards the main street stopping for 5 Burpees, 5 Mike Tyson’s, 5 Imperial Walker Squats, 5 Peter Parker’s.  Mosey down the road, stopping for 10 Mike Tyson’s, 10 IW Squats, 10 Peter Parker’s.  Mosey to Franklin Blvd, stopping for 15 Mike Tyson’s, 15 IW Squats, 15 Peter Parker’s.

Mosey across the street to the small brick wall at the church. Start with 10 Dips, 10 Step-ups, 10 Derkins.  Then 15 Dips, 15 Step-ups, 15 Derkins.   Next we did 20 of each exercise.  Then back down to 15 reps of each exercise, and finish off with 10 reps of each.  Mosey to parking deck and hand off to Ball Joint.

Ball Joint loves to use old brake rotors for his workouts.  Today he had the bright idea to combine the Sheldon Cooper with brake rotors. Each pax grabbed two brake rotors from his truck.   It was awful, and it went like this.  Start with 1 Burpee, 1 Merkin, 1 Squat, 1 Big Boy at the bottom, carry your rotors up the stairs to the top level. Then do 2 Burpees, 2 Merkins, 2 Squats, 2 Big Boys.  Carry your rotors back to the bottom.  Then 3 Burpees, 3 Merkins, 3 Squats, 3 Big Boys.  Continue this up to 5 reps each, then work your way back down to 1 rep each. That was terrible!! Thank goodness he didn’t call 10-1 on the reps!!

Ball Joint hands it back over to me with time left. Mosey back towards the flag, stopping along the way for a little walk work.  We got in 2 rounds of 10 Hip Slappers (ic) & 10 Dirty Hook-ups (ic).   Then head back to COT.  Time for some Merkin Jacks here.  1:4 ratio of Merkins and Plank Jacks. Start with 1 Merkin, 4 Plank Jack’s. Then 2 Merkins, 8 Plank Jacks  Continue until 5 Merkins, 20 Plank Jacks.  Finish the workout up with 10 Burpees. Time!!

Frost, Sharks and Sharts – The Goat 1/27/22

Tuesday evening YHC learned that Breaker Breaker was still limping along on IR so the Q was snagged before Dirt took the honor again.

The weather was chilly and a little frosty too so what should we do?  Keep moving!  Three showed up early for a few EC mile warm up.  Six more came sliding in right in time for warm up.

Warm Up:  15 Side Straddle Hops IC, 15 Imperial Walkers IC & 15 Grass Pickers IC.

Mosey to the first bridge.  Quick check for icy, frosty, slippery stuff.  Pretty good so NUR to the other side.

Mosey to the second bridge. Lunge walk across bridge.  May have been a little slippery for Bear Crawls…

Mosey to the back parking area for SHARKNADO.

Rinse and Repeat Five times.

Not too much chatter.  Some good conversation during the run portions and as always some concerning body sounds interrupted our reps.

Bubba Sparxxx & Tesla made it to the Burpees on the fifth round before time caught up to us.

The others all were well into their fourth round.

Good push by all and a great way to stay warm on a frosty 23 degree morning.

Flintstone, with the Q. He called a triple nipple or something like that, but then gave the birthday boy the birthday gift of somebody else’s dreams…. he passed the Q to YHC! The Stinky Bird is now 35. Halfway to 70. Do all of these numbers play a part this birthday bash? Yes!

Mosey towards the post office for some 11s on the driveway.   10 Imperial Walker Squats at top, 1 Plank Jack at the bottom.   9 IW Squats at top,back down for 2 Plank Jack’s. Continue until you finish with 1 IW Squat, and 10 Plank Jack.

Mosey towards the main street with all the lights.  Route 66 called using the light poles on left. Start with 1 Merkin.  Next pole 2 Merkins. Continue until you do 11 Merkins at last pole.

Mosey to parking deck.  At bottom do 5 Burpees. Mosey to next level up, bear crawl ramp, then 5 Burpees, 10 Hand Release Merkins. Mosey to next level up, Joe Hendrix up ramp, then 5 Burpees, 10 HR Merkins, 15 American Hammers. Mosey to next level, lunge walk up ramp, then 5 Burpees, 10 HR Merkins, 15 AH, 20 Jump Squats.  Next level up, bear crawl ramp, 5 Burpees, 10 HR Merkins, 15 AH, 20 Jump Lunges, 25 Mountain Climbers.  Time running low, head back to COT.

5, 10, 15 Thats Good

First Q since my quadruple herina surgery and no better place to start than Mt. Hollywood. And I lost my wineke after the workout so not much to report here. It did feel great to be back as a Q plus we had and FNG so that got me remembering the responsibilities of a Q and plenty of mumble chatter guidance from the group.

Started with a couple laps around the parking lot as it was quite chilly then some stretches to loosen up. Then mosey over to the new and improved benches for 5 dips, 10 squats, and 15 something else then run across the lot and back. Repeat 2 more times. We moseyed to the other school for some more 5, 10, 15 and running. Then off to library for some more. Back to the flag for announcements, prayer request, and naming the FNG.  Welcome Camellia to F3. Note to future FNGs do not mention you like gardening and your favorite flower.

1-26-22 AO Swap – The Labyrinth Annex

Welcome FNG Joey Shell – F3 “Urkel”.  He said he liked the Friday Night Lineup on ABC as a kid so we named him after the most famous NERD of them all, Steve Urkel from Family Matters.

A few weeks ago, Nutria and I arranged for an AO Swap today.  He took the TRB flag to The Labyrinth and I brought The Labyrinth flag to TRB, thus the title………The Labyrinth Annex.

Since we had an FNG, I gave a lengthy declaimer.

Warm Up:

Seal Jacks IC x 25

Hill Billy Walkers IC x 20

Eskimo Merkins up to 7

We paused to go over the 5 Core Principles of F3.  Bubba Sparxx spoke up about how ALL men are welcome, no matter what their physical ability is.  Thanks for the insight Bubba!

Mosey over to the soccer field for 5 x 5 Burpees.  Do 5 Burpees at one side of the field then Mosey to the other side for 5 more burpees.  Rinse and Repeat until 25 Burpees have been completed.

At the bleachers, we did 10 Dips and 10 Step Ups (each leg).  Rinse and repeat x 4.

Run a lap between rounds 3 and 4.

Mosey to the back of the school to Bear Crawl up the ramp.  Lots of debris on the sidewalk so gloves were appreciated during this.

Calf Raises on the steps.  IC x 15.  Rinse and Repeat x 3.

Stop for 5 Burpees for the train whistle.  Virus busted my chops saying I was showing my aged by calling it a train whistle.  He said, “They use horns now and haven’t used whistles for years.”

Line up across the parking lot.  I asked the PAX if they wanted to do routine 1 or 2.  Sargento mentioned that we, in F3, are number 1, so that was the choice.  Here we Lunge Walked to the other end of the parking lot, stopping at every other line to drop, do a Merkin and jump up clapping our hands over our head.  It’s a good thing we didn’t choose option 2 because I wanted to do Burpees at every other line!

Mosey to the entrance to the baseball field.  Stop for 1 more set of Calf Raises since there were steps here.

YHC stepped in the mud at the bottom of the stairs and quickly pointed that out for the other PAX to avoid.  I wanted to use the baseball field but quickly determined that it was too wet there.  Omaha to the road at the side of the school where we climbed a Ladder with the following exercises building upon each other:

20 Flutter Kicks (counting one leg)

30 Moroccan Night Clubs

20 LBCs

20 Reverse LBCs

10 Dimond Merkins.

I had more planned but didn’t have time to complete them.

Mosey back to the flag.

We arrived back just in time to greet Mrs. Breaker Breaker.  Unfortunately, BB is still broken.

Rice n Beans 1/25/22

Rice n Beans gathered on Broad st at the old Honda shop 1/25 at 6:00.  Pillager, Dirt, Virus and his M, Hey Jude, Sprinkler and Tiger helped.

We served just under 30 meals, and had the chance to pray for four of those served.  We were again thanked not as much for the food, although all were highly appreciative, but more for treating those served with dignity and respect.

Gastonia will be added to the Rice n Beans website within a few days with sign up schedule becoming active.

This was the fourth week for Rice n Beans Gaston County.  To this point, there has been a core group that has been present each week, with some assistance from F3.  The core members are extremely grateful for the F3 support.

Please consider coming out one of the upcoming weeks.  The hope is that a relatively large volunteer base can be established so that the mission is less dependent on a few.
