Pushing Rocks at the Coconut Horse

Lots of activity this morning at the Coconut Horse. There were ruckers, runners, and cars all over the parking lot. EC was going on too. Some PAX left early but they returned in time for credit. At 0530 the disclaimer was given and at 0531 Short Sale rolled in hot and declared that he identified as a Rucker today so the runners all took off.  Approximately 0715, all were back at the start for the COT.

At Q Source, we nearly had a record crowd and covered the 8 block and our One Word(s).
It was a great start to 2023 and most guys got two points for the Pushing Rocks challenge.  Off to a great start on what will be a great year for the Gashouse!

Togetherness, Love Languages, and Pineapples

It was a decent crowd on a wet Folsom morning.

We did a brief warn up of stretches a set of Iron hulks.

The thang was simple and repetitive.

  • A set of Iron hulk
    • It worked out nicely to 10 Merkins to 40 presses.
  • 5 sets of
    • 10 Dips
    • 100 Calf Raisers

We rinse and repeated until times was up.

The fellowship and mumble chatter were wonderful this morning.  HC was impressed with Gear Wrench’s calf raisers. It is now known how he got such large calves.  Volt was in rare form; his laughter was loud and strong.  Stogie counted big boys yet did not do one. Our minds were blown with the accuracy at which this was completed.  Ball joint’s impression of Oompa Loompa was dead on.  Spackle struggled knowing what number to count even though it was the same every time it was his turn.  The moans of Bedpan were heard throughout the land with the encouragement of “Come on Boys” from Sarlacc right after. Wichita was laser focused this morning and would not be distracted by the shenanigans of others.

These are a wonderful group of HIMs and it is a pleasure to put in work alongside these gentlemen.

Last One Of 2022

Big crowd for the last Prison Break of 2022. We had a few new regulars this year including Camelia, Pall Bearer, Rum Runner, and Chubbs. Great to see you guys out there throughout the year as well as all of the regulars. Looking forward to 2023!

Anybody Got a Pen? (Crossroads 1/1/23)

Another wet misty morning at Crossroads to kick off the new year!  The usual suspects launched around 6:10 for 7.  The rest of us rucked or ran 3 to 5.  Great crowd (17 HIM), not unlike your local Planet Fitness for at least the 1st month of the year… the Pushing Rocks challenge is in full swing.  Although, Broke did offer up a couple of Team Midoriyama Misfits for the transfer portal!!!  Pledge, COT, & Broke prayed us out.  Moved inside for Q-Source on the 8-block goal setting system.  Sorry, not one of my whole pack of pens worked (yes, Mayor before you reply back, we all know that YOU had one that did cause you’re a boyscout like that and all) so we just discussed the block with the hopes that all will complete later.  Post it somewhere that’s visible to you so you can refer back often and hold each other accountable.  It was a pleasure to lead you guys today.  Thanks.

A Q unlike any other

Gavel was sick so somebody had to step in the gap.

We warmed up. We moseyed to the deepest, darkest part of the Martha’s House Forest for some burpees and then four corners in the dark. Stroganoff and Maybelline stepped up for some set pieces in the parking lot that got the PAX all swole and sweaty. It was great.

I Stole, Modified, Rinsed, & Repeated this one

Earlier this week I saw on Slack that Midoriyama needed someone to take the Q on Thursday so I said why not. I told the Slawbag I’d take it and so here we are. Now this will my second post of the day and I have done a months worth of block work already this week at Folsom. That being said I figure why stop now. I can’t all the take credit for what happened next. You see Sparky made one of his rare appearances on Tuesday ( I think he’s up to like 12 for the year) and he kicked the crap out of us with a WOD he got from the PizzaMan called Black Jack. Well I figured I’d steal some parts from it and add my own twist to it. Here’s how it went down.

The Warm Up

25 – SSH / 5 – Mike Tyson’s                           Now Mayor loved this so much I decided to do 4 more rounds but decided to drop the SSH by 5 each time. After that we continued to warm up the shoulders with some rounds of arm circles and crossbody / OH arm and triceps stretches.

The Thang
20 to 1 Squats / 1 to 20 Merkins              Each round has a total of 21 Reps between the squats and merkins. Sounds simple right well it would be but we were on a timer as well. Every 3 minutes we had to stop and do Burpees. Now we were supposed to do 3 Burpees every 3 minutes but evidently I didn’t clarify that so it ended up being 1 Burpee every 3 minutes. That’s OK I’ve got a fix for that. Once the Bat-flippers finished their rounds I had them jog the parking lot until the 6 was finished and got a lap in as well. We’ve got a little time left so The Burpee Fix will be AMRAP DORACIDES with each partner completing an AMRAP round of Block Curls, Block OH Ext., and finally Block OHP and while other partner does suicide sprints with escalating burpees at each stop.

Put the blocks up and Time.

As I said in the beginning I kinda mashed up a few different guys workouts from the past. I also threw in a little bit of my own flavor with them. I hope this put a good kind of hurting on you Evening Shade PAX. Thanks for the hard work and the much appreciated prayers and support my family and I have needed recently.
