Fake Fall in Mt. Holly

As those of us who have lived here all of our lives these low 60s low humidity mornings that feel like fall in late August are really just a “fake” to make us think the heat is over. Then  – as usual we fry through late September. So with that in mind a determined set of men gathered at the Mt. Hollywood AO to get a little work in to start the week off right. It went like this:

COP:

Arm stretches

SSH X 20

IW X 20

4X Merkins X 10

Plank position – foot to palm stretch.

Peter Parkers X 20

Mosey down to the wall at the elementary school

Round 2 – 15X, 15X (total), 15X, 10X

Mosey uptown and make a stop;

1st bump – 5 burpees

2nd bump – 10 CDDs

3rd bump- 15 Big boys

2 minutes of stretching and COT

NMM:

Nice, nice morning out there today! We had one coming our way after the last 90 or so. Everybody looked great and worked hard. Great to see a strong pax like this one was. Mt. Holly is just a nice place anyway. We need more of a presence up there.

Prayers up for those that work in the school system especially teachers and support staff. And of course the kids themselves. Hopefully everybody stays safe and learns a lot! We need for that to happen.  And we are here to help. Let’s not forget that either guys!

Prayers up the Hamm family, guys on IR (even Dredd) and those we have not seen in awhile also. If you can get with one of our brothers who has been absent awhile reach out and do so. One guy I am thinking of is Wheezy. Know he is dealing with some things and has told me he would like ot get back out. Let’s help make that happen. Be good for all of us.

Until next time, honor and a pleasure to lead this crowd.

Better late than never…

So as most people that know me will tell you I detest being on a computer, thus my slackness on getting back blasts posted in a  timely manner.  It is something that I am working on,  but thanks to Huckleberry I am gonna do this one now.   Also, somewhere in the mix I misplaced my workout so I am gonna try this from memory lol.

I am making it a commitment to do better at this back blast thing.  Thanks for the call out Huckleberry!  SYITG

Warm up:

SSH’s – 23 IC (no idea why)

Squats – 20 IC

Flutters (I think) – a number IC

YHC is tired from all of that 1/2 mile I put in as EC arriving a bit early today.  I don’t feel like runnin, Watts Up, how bout’s you take the guys on a mosey.  I’ll hang out here for awhile.

As the plan was building I felt my challenge was to recruit as many BC pax as possible since numbers can vary.  The Pax showed, and what an intimidating group it was.  Watts Up left me with a pack of beasts too boot.  Once we rid ourselves of the runners we unloaded the Pilot weighted down with non potable Coors blocks.  I had a couple of 25 lb. weights to boot.

The Painlabber’s were quick to help me in my initial start up efforts as the wind and my own lack of guidance slowed me a bit in getting us started.  Many thanks to VooDoo who apparently has music on demand.

The Thang:

Stations:

Initiate each request in stations, slow mosey to middle of parking lot to get in 10 Monkey Humpers in between each one.  Three rounds finished.

Flutters x  50 sgl. count

Heels to Sky x 20

LBC’s x 25

Squats (with block) x 25

Merkins or Merkins on Block x 25

Block Curls x 25

Overhead Press x 20

Block Walk

Slow Mosey to bottom of Schiele trail, coupons in tow.

Bottom of Hill:

Dora 1/2/3

Partner up.  Mosey part way up hill, drop and give us one burpee.  Back down and relieve your partner who is doing:

100 O/H block press

200 block curls

300 O/H block tricep push (modified to 200)

Clavin was performing a mosey NUR which I modified for all.  Walking uphill backwards was a great audible and smoked those non usage muscles

Dora 2:

Got to get our legs in gear.  Same exercise just 200 block squats

Mobile Stations:

Station 1, Pax does 100 flutters and relieves Stations 2 and 3.

Station 2:  Amrap Freddie Mercury

Station 3:  Hold 6″ until relieved

As we were within shouting distance of parking lot we stayed in the woods until about 1 minute ’til.  As we emerged watching Watts Up smoke the Bootcamp the sweet chime of bells rang as we struggled to get the blocks back to the Pilot.

Cooler at Crossroads

Cooler morning at Crossroads. Some ran. Some biked. No ruckers. Broke ran 7 and coughed after being stuffy. Most ran 5. SA and Seuss were leading the way. Hacksaw got an early start as he often does. Freight and Mayor are hardcore road bikers now and they seem happy about that. Oompa is getting over the crud but still getting after it. Mr. Garvey is making it look easy. Nice work young man! I chased Blart but never caught him. Gold Digger was taking it slow and easy after logging a lot of miles the day before. It was a good morning!

Q Source was on Exhortation which is defined as “Encouragement on steroids.” and my favorite part of the lesson on this was the last part.
“Can you name a man in your life who is an Exhorter who exists outside of a celluloid fantasy? If you can, you are lucky. If you can’t, maybe its high time you became that kind of man yourself. They are in short supply.”

Without ALL of us F3 guys being Exhorters, F3 will not grow or even remain the same. It will go away. Push yourself to be that “Encourager on Steroids” to every man in the gloom and the many who haven’t realized they need to be there too!

Last Monday at Neverland

Not as in the last, last but last Monday.   A strong turnout to start the week and the last week before the crumb snatchers return to school.   All led to a joyous occasion, where Gastone and Whoopee, unaware of who had the Q jumped at the chance.   YHC had it covered and was quick to say thanks, but no thanks.

Lunge walk down the trial into the darkness.   Proceeded about 30 yards before omahing into a mosey.

Last Chance 2.0 Workout of 2019

Well gents,

It’s been a great summer and we have had a lot of fun at these workouts.  Today was filled with a lot of fun moments and finished us up right.  The first was when Sargento and Edison showed up without the 2.0s and joined us.  Edison got back in the car, I heard to go get his kids, but we never saw him again.  The Yank was also visited by a guy new to the area named RaRa, who appeared to have a great time and was always smiling.

It looked like rain was on the horizon, but we had a good turnout despite it.  Time started and Doodles move us to the concrete pad for the warmup.  After a few exercises to get loose, he donned the half pipe. Dads would count off as ones and twos and ones would go up the grass hill while the twos would do and exercise.  When ones would return, the twos would go to the stairs.  Dads would switch and hit the stairs and grass every other turn.  It didn’t take long for mumble chatter out of the 2.0s.  Then Doodles moved us up to the top of the track and split us up and half the group ran one direction and the others ran opposite.  That took us to Norwood.

Norwood had set up some baseballs. The first thing was dads would tag the 2.0s (they were supposed to stay within the baseballs – that didn’t happen).  Once tagged, kids did an exercise.  After all kids were tagged, switch and the kids tag the dads.  We did a handful of rounds.  Then it was relay time.  A dad bear crawls to the bats (25 yards away) with a kid on their back and runs back after getting to the bat.  Next relay was the dizzy bat race where you ran to the bats and spun five times and ran back.  I AM GLAD THERE IS NO FOOTAGE OF THIS. YHC got laid out around spin three.  Four and five were tough and I couldn’t make a straight line back to the group.  The same could be said for Sister Act and Roscoe.

Sister Act had something in mind to show the 2.0s what we really do.  He decided to run a triple nickel with burpees up top and then bear crawl around the fountain (quickly omahad to Bobby Hurleys at the back of the fountain.  Funny thing heard was when his 2.0s said their hands hurt during the bear crawl, SA promptly replied “well I have gloves on”.

That wrapped it up and we named an FNG and closed it out and had some Gatorade and fig bars.

I want to thank all of the dads for coming out this summer to support and especially the dads who took the leads.

Last Week of Freedom Q

GasHouse/PainLab Switchero

YHC and Linus had been trying to come up with ways to keep GasHouse and PainLab new and interesting. One such idea was happened today…

All the “hype” was the site Q’s were taking today – you know plain vanilla stuff. Instead, YHC and Linus decided to switch Q’s unannounced to the PAX until execution. Linus did the disclaimer (since there was an FNG), pledge and the warmup, but then announced “He didn’t feel like running today” and asked YHC to take them running. And off we took. Apparently, there was a bit of confusion as some the PainLabbers initially took off too, but that was quickly rectified. 8 PAX joined YHC as we headed to Grier Parking Lot.

Udders was asked for an exercise – Burpees (and this was after a warning to choose wisely).
So it was rotating bear crawls across the parking lot, 15 Burpees, lunge back.

Outhouse – same question…. Imperial Walkers.
Rotating bear crawls across the parking lot, 15 IWs, lunge back.

Wolverine – CDDs
Rotating bear crawls across the parking lot, 15 CDDs, lunge back.

During the above, YHC inquired if the PAX knew what today was. Once we got past the obvious, they hit upon the answer – the start of college football. Next question, how many teams in the ACC. Udders was ready for that one… 15, but only 14 for football. The significance of that will be seen shortly.

All of sudden, there was TopHat. He claimed to still be stretching for his late arrival, bringing the total to 10 at GasHouse.

We continued on to Burtonwood and then down to the stairs behind FPC.

Next was to partner up and do 150 each of the following exercises to spell out YHC favorite team:

CDD
LBC
Elbow to Knee (75 Each Side)
Merkin/Morrocan Night Club (75 Each)
Squat
Outlaw (modified to 140)
Nolan Ryan (75 Each Side)

There was some chatter about UNC, NC State, and where was the “P” in Clemson, blah, blah, blah. Let’s get to work.

Once everyone was done, did a quick count off. Still had 10 PAX, no one had been lost.

Repeated the count off, amazingly it still came to 10, so time to mosey to the Grier track.

15 Squats
Mosey 1/2 Lap
15 Dirty Dogs each leg.
Mosey to start.

Dirt and TopHat got to choose the next round…
So a repeat with 15 Diamond Merkins at the start and 15 Imperial Walkers at the 1/2 point.

Now it was time to head to the wall…
Assume the People’s Chair the first PAX would do 15 Overhead Claps, when he was done the second, on down until all had PAX had done them. If you were not doing the claps, do air presses.

Up the stairs and out to the entrance to Grier. Line up and do 15 Monkey Humpers with your back to the street.

Somewhere in here, Udders asked if we would get the other 0.3 miles in.

Not wanting to disappoint, mosey back to Burtonwood and then back to the Schiele.

Still had a few minutes left, so a little Mary…
Hayzus – Merkins IC
Dirt – Freddie Mercury and Mercury Freddie IC
Defib – Mountain Climbers IC

Thankfully the bells of freedom rang.

Linus lead us the rest of the way…

It was an honor to lead GasHouse. Everyone pushed hard and I appreciate it

Great to see PAX from other regions pushing the rock when out of town.

Watts Up powering down.
