ruckfest

Halfpipe was cooking this morning. Roscoe got there early. I started to run but quickly switched to ruck and Linus came in hot. We probably made 6 laps together but Roscoe had some EC and pushed the rock. Lots of problems were solved this morning so all you fartsackers can rest easy-the world is a safer place because of us…at least for now.

dodging cars

Slow mosey with some rucking and walking to help with taper for upcoming Mortimer/P200/Half Marathon.

Prayers for Huntsinger family whose son committed suicide over weekend,  love your kids and make sure they know how you feel. Spend time with them every day guys.

hills pay the bills

Good crowd at GasHouse on a Q vs Q day. Tube had PainLab. We started with a quick warmup and ran thru the 5 core principles then split up. We moseyed to a big hill but I couldn’t tell you the name of the road. It was in a neighborhood across and downhill from the Schiele Museum. On the way we did some active warmup with some long jumps, lunges, and karaoke stuff then arrived at the hill. I really didn’t think I would make the extinction run, so I wanted to get some running in. Bad move on my part because I did make the extinction run but that’s ok. I love running. I really really really really love running actually. It is my favorite thing to do ever. Rules were given: 11’s on the hill-big boys at the bottom and mountain climbers at the top. Where is the “top?” Wherever you choose. Just go up the dern hill and do some mountain climbers. This took a bit of time. We moseyed our way home with exercises along the way then hit some Mary back at start. We finished with COT then took off.

We are coming up on the 8 year anniversary of GasHouse. Whenever I think about this, I am amazed. Not so much that we are doing well or growing or still going, but really that it has be 8 years. It has gone by really quickly for me and still wonder what I was doing before F3. Thanks for being part of this GasHouse thing and for keeping us going.

First round, Q vs Q…..LET’S GET READY TO RUUUUMMMMBBBBBLLEEEEEEE!!!!!

I could not sleep last night-woke up at 2 am and laid in bed for about an hour before I eventually drifted off to sleep then the alarm went off at 0430-wife out of town, 2 dogs, and 3 cats are a bad combo but WTH? Let’s goooooooooooo!

I rolled in to The Goat just after 0500 and Roscoe sends me a text to let me know the gate is open across the bridge-no factor for me but just pointing out the HIM that I am competing with wants me to do well-no surprise to anyone reading this. I consider Roscoe one of my best friends and F3 has solidified that friendship more than any other before moving to Gastonia 15 years ago.

Over the last week I was reminded several times that I was not the higher seed for this event. That’s ok, I’m happy to be here and really surprised to be with these guys. My posting and Q’ing have seen better days compared with lately so thank you for this opportunity.

Flintstone started things off just before time with the rules then Roscoe took off with his weinke-we moseyed up to the upper deck around the post office/up the stairs for some Dora-ish stuff that was harder on my core than I wanted with a mosey around the building for the partner. We did some other stuff then eventually made it to the bridge for some bear crawl and back then to the parking lot for partner Lunge/Burpee long jump work. I was really not paying attention bec I wanted to make sure I had thought thru my part so I am sure I am missing some of his stuff. What I do remember is 20 seconds before the handoff to me, Roscoe called in a train to come by adding 5 more burpees just before I took over. I may or may not have done them.

Roscoe’s t ime was called and I took over-we moseyed the the bottom of the stairs and in ShortSale-ish fashion, my weinke was a bit complicated to accommodate POSSIBLY a large crowd. I had 3 stations set up with partner work at 2 of 3 stations. As I was trying to ‘splain things, here comes Roscoe’s train again screaming right behind us making communication difficult. No factor-come in closer like Pilgrims Progress did and I’ll speak up. Rules were given then we took off to respective areas and got to work. My favorite (of course) was the Hip Slapper station with the Australian Mountain Climbers a close second place. We had a few learnin’ sessions and thankfully Tesla was there for some in depth interpretation and edumacation (FARTUS SACKUS).

We moseyed back to start for the pledge then the vote and then COT.

Kudos to Flintstone for getting this together. If you were not there, we had a blast and you really missed out. I appreciate all you men showing up today-supporting me, Roscoe, and Flintstone, as well as every other HIM that posted with all of our baggage. As we come up on another year milestone in about 3 weeks, I am amazed at the work our guys have done both in the form of exercise, various CSAUPs, and community involvement. I am proud to know you men and thankful every time I get out here with you.

3R’s and 4B’s

There were 3 ruckers and 4 bitches…..wait, there were 3 runners and 4 bitches…no, well maybe it was…..dang, I can’t remember. Should have been there. There were hills and we made them ours. It was glorious.

suggestions

4 others joined me this am for some good stuff. Hit the disclaimer because that’s what we do. Medium warmup with a few exercises. I was open for suggestions because I saved the wrong weinke on my phone. We moseyed to Gastone’s Hill and did 5 SSH at each light on the way. At the bottom of the hill the instructions we reviewed: go up the hill and do a few squats at each mailbox on the right as suggested by HP. At the top we did some quiet exercises so as to not awaken the neighbors then moseyed back down. Round 2 up the hill was right after we ranted about snowflakes not wanted to go to work and stay at home so we did 2 burpees at each mailbox. More quiet exercises at the top then mosey back to the bottom. Final trip up was going to be plain old run up to the top but I was open for suggestions so we did ascending merkins up by 1 at each mailbox until we got to 8 then worked our way back down to 1 by the time we got to the top. More exercises at the top plus a little game called “tell me something you are thankful for” for a few minutes then mosey back down to the bottom. It was getting close to time so we moseyed back to start with some SSH at every other light.

Finished with COT then got outta there. I had to circle back to the hill to retrieve my phone that I left at the bottom of the hill.

Gastone

Gastone sighting this am. Apparently as we pass in front of his house, his alarm notifies him there is someone near his front door. This is useful knowledge for future Tuesday mornings when I feel the need to do SSH in his front yard with several of my closest friends.

This morning we ran or rucked and had a not-so-bad time. It was not terrible.

We did do the pledge and had a COT because that is what Flintstone wants us to do, and it’s the right thing, but mostly because Flintstone wants us to do it that way….

ego

We ran or rucked then discussed chapter 4 of Extreme Ownership-Ego. Great discussion. Takeaway point for me is this: Often the worst ego that you will ever have to deal with is your own. Glad I have some HIMs around to remind me of this.

where’s JJ

We ran hills…..because hills pay the bills. Then we had COT. Then we ran some more. Why??? Because that is what hill running bitches do. We. Run. Hills.

PS-for the record, JJ was there and it was his birthday.

puddles

Rain dance didn’t work, no puddles in sight despite it being “national splash in a puddle day” or something like that. We started with a quick disclaimer, pledge, and warmup. We had a solid group this am. Numbers are nice, but I’ll take a good quality group of guys no matter what the numbers are any day of the week, even on “national splash in a puddle day.”

I ‘splained what that initial plan would be: mosey to Sandy’s Hill. On the way, 2 merkins and 2 squats at each light. This was part of the warmup actually and was just about right. We got to the bottom of the hill and then moseyed up to the top for 25 LBCs. Mosey down for 25 merkins and 25 LBCs. I think this is where I pulled out the photos on my phone for something to share-I found a list of “Things To Teach Your Son” which is ironic because I don’t have any sons….still good info to share and should be common knowledge for most HIMs. I’ll share a few below so keep on reading. We moseyed up to the breezeway at the school for some suicides. At each light on the breezeway, stop for 10 Mountain Climbers then back to start. When you pass the previous light(s) stop for 5 squats then proceed to subsequent light for 10 MCs. Continue until we got thru them all. Roscoe went off road to make room and fortunately didn’t step in any gopher holes. Time was getting short so we moseyed back and hit some merkins at most of the lights on the way home. We timed it just right to finish with a route 66 on the lights growing the last 10 or 11 lights with 1 more Merkin each light. We finished with a COT then took off.
