Back in the Saddle at The Goat!

Been awhile since YHC led here and the AO never disappoints! Today was one big Omaha and it never surprises me when that happens. You plan and prepare and then something out there intrudes on the plan! That something is called the real world. And it deals us all very cruel blows when we least expect it. But, if we are resilient, we make it into a force for good and even getting better. So today we did that.

Went like this:

COP:

SSH-Bs X 5

IWs X 20

Grasspickers X 20

Grapevines

Mosey over to the bridge and the gate is LOCKED! There goes that plan! So we adapt.

Start with 5 burpees at the bottom of the hill for suicides:

First pole: 5 Big boys, back to the bottom and 5 burpees

Second Pole: 10 big boys, back to the bottom and 5 burpees

Third pole: 15 BBs, back to the bottom for 5 burpees

Fourth Pole: 20 BBs, 5 burpees at the bottom.

Mosey over to the gazebo area for some work:

10 dirkins, 10 stepups, 10 dips

On the green line, bear crawl to the top, mosey back down.

Repeat work above,  15X each this time we do lunges up to the top, mosey back.

Rinse and repeat, 20X each, burpee broad jumps to the top.

Time for some triple nickel action – on the big hill:

Bottom: Plank jacks X 5

Top: LBCs X 5

“Top”defined by the second “light” or third pole up the hill.

Time for COT and pledge.

NMM:

Not what I thought it would be but then again what is? We got it done and everyone had a beat down. Why else would you show? Life throws stuff at you. all the time. Is it an opportunity? Kind of what you make it. I can tell you all about that! The obstacle is the way men. Go towards it!

The Sun will rise again!

As most pax know YHC has been under some very trying times of late. I have got through it by prayer, pax, and an army of support that has humbled me beyond belief! As such I have found out that my life is abundant and am getting my “true north” now, making ambitious future plans and trying to be an example to those who have helped me and those I intend to help.

With that said my first Q of the year went like this:

COP

5 SSH – burpees

20 gravel pickers

Grapevine stretches

Nolan Ryans 10X each side.

Off to the back courts and some Blimps with partner.

P1 – do the work.

P2 – run the lot to the end, do 10X of the work and return and pickup where P1 was.

B- Burpees

L- Lunges

I- Imperial walkers

M- Merkins

P- Plank jacks

S- Squats

Bench work – 10 dips, 10 step ups, 10 dirkins, 10 inverted big boys, run basketball suicides on the court. Rinse an repeat for 15, 20 reps.

Time for Bear crawl slalom!

Circle up for ab work and burpee broad jump @ the circle!

Done. Pledge.

NMM: Great group, perfect morning. A lot of pax headed to the F3 retreat which was well worth the effort for all who could make it. For YHC, it was a relief to get back in the saddle. Things are getting better! And we just got to keep it moving.  Guys, there is NO OYO out there! We rise and stay upright as the warriors we are because of each other. And just so you know, real warriors love peace and hate war. But we are committed to fighting war when we have to. and that will be our example to this world.

Last of 2021

Well, YHC thinks that none of us thought that 2021 would turn out the way it did. Turned out to be probably collectively worse for the world than 2020 was. A lot of ups and downs but we’re not beaten as a society and with guys around us like these pax, we won’t be defeated. So as YHC led the pax to the center of the court at the school COP and the workout went like this:

SSH X 20

IW X 20

Grass pickers X 20

Grapevines

Mtn. Climbers X 20

5 train burpees

Escalator time as we line up on the sideline of the field.

5 burpees

Run to the other side.

5 burpees

10 squats (cadence)

Run back

5 burpees

10 squats (cadence)

15 merkins (cadence)

Run

5 burpees

10 squats (cadence)

15 merkins (cadence)

20 Big boys (cadence)

Run

5 burpees

10 squats

15 merkins

20 Big boys

25 CDDS

Run back, then come down the escalator. Run accordingly

move over to the benches for some suicide work.

10 dips

10 inclined  big boys

10 dirkins

All above in cadence. Run suicides to each goal and back and to the end.

Rinse and repeat moving reps on bench to 15 and 20 each round. Run three suicides total.

Finish off with a 3 minute plank.

NMM:

Great way to end the year on a day that felt more like July 31 than December 31. Great push by the pax and enjoyed the fellowship afterwards. Been an interesting year! Ups and downs and all around. As I have said before it really is going to be up to us to be leaders needed to pull the nation back together. We are the Centurions! let’s commit and act on it and like it.

Let’s roll in ’22!

Tesla out.

Merry Christmas from the Fighting Yank!

So we decided to have a Christmas Day beat down at the Fighting Yank to be of service to pax that not only needed it but wanted it. This can be a tough time of year for a lot of guys and keeping that beacon of light out there was important to to us. So 3 showed, one led, and went like this:

COP:

SSH X 20

IW X 20

Concrete Pickers X 20

Grapevine stretches

Time for a 4 corners, one we have not done for awhile.

Mosey up to Corner 1 at the gated house entrance for 10, 15, 20 of the following:

Fence squats

dips

dirkins

Mosey to the next corner. 10, 15, 20 of:

Big boys

merkins

Squats

Mosey to the Corner of Knowledge fro 10, 15, 20 of:

Step ups

Inclined merkins

inclined big boys

Mosey down to the 4th corner, do ascending burpees at each power pole.

Mosey from the 4th corner to the park and a triple nickel

Bottom: SSH X 5

Top: plank jacks X 5

Done with that we did a couple of Karaokees @ the shelter and followed them up with:

10 jump squats

10 Mtn  Climbers

Finish up with a sprint up the steps and do some Monkey Humpers.

Pledge and done.

NMM:

Wonderful morning with great company. We stuck together and got better and even tried to set up a few of the fallen Christmas trees in the park. No Bah Humbug here!

Let’s roll into 2022 strong men! We. can do this. We will be the examples.

Tesla

Tequila and Buttermilk make a fine Christmas drink!

So YHC was up at Tequila Sunrise on this Christmas Eve, and one where at 7 am we would see the light for the first time in a while at the AO. So it was determined to be a get with it workout. Our Folsom brothers had posted at Downtown earlier so for them quite a hearty day for sure! Went like this as we headed to the filed, a crowd of 22 pax to do this ting.

COP:

SSH X 20

IW X 20

Grasspickers X 20

Grapevines

Mtn. Climbers

Pick a partner and time for some Kevorkians, partner assisted suicides as follows:

Round 1 – HR merkins

Round 2 – Jumps squats

Round 3 – CDDS

Round 4 – Big boy situps.

P1 – Run to the first goal and drop and do 5 of the called work, go to the end goal and drop and do 10. Run back to P2.

P2 – Do the called work the whole time.

Plank up and wait for six each round and then restart as a unit.

Over to the monkey bars, count off by 4s.

1s – Pull ups , 10X

2s – LBCs, 10X

3s  – Merkins, 10X

4s – Run across the field.

Go through each of these 3 times.

Assemble on the side of the field for some work.

5 burpees, start line, middle of field, other side,  lunge walk, mosey back.

Heels to heaven X 10 same as above, Broad jump across.

Count off by 2s, line up for bear crawl slalom, YHC on one end (1s)(back), our 2022 Nantan Sargento on the other. Then we did our thing and wore out the rest of the pax in the process. Again, as Bear Bryant said, winning is not imperative but getting tougher in the 4th quarter is! We were doing it.

Got a few minutes left so we did the following:

SSH X 10

Grass drill/chop-chop X 10

Hold plank for 2 minutes and finish!

Pledge, coffee at HT since we had a big crew today.

NMM:

Great work today by the guys! Enjoyed the opportunity to lead this group. Gives me inspiration to do this and to be better. We’ve all had a difficult 2 years and it shows. But we’re going to be the guys who lead us back.

As I said in my GTE 24 AAR  I will look back on these difficult times and think that I was fortunate to be in the company of such men who stood up and led when the world needed them to.

God bless all of you and keep pushing the rock! This is what matters.

Tesla

Buttermilk goes good with Tequila!

So as YHC respectfully took the Q from Watt’s Up for a birthday bash (62) it was apparent we needed to do a little something with the morning that could be remembered as 7 men came to the grounds to put in their time and be ready for the rest of the day. Went like this:

COP:

SSH X 20

IW X 20

Grass pickers X 20

Grapevines X 20

Mtn. Climbers X 20

Mosey to the track from six shooters. This version is pax does the work, then runs a lap after each task is completed. This is what we do:

10 burpees

20 big boys

30 HR merkins (a popular choice)

40 squats

50 CDDS

60 SSH

Mosey to the pull up bars and go to work as follows:

10 pull ups

10 big boys

10 SSH Rinse and repeat 3 times.

Gather up for some bear crawl Slalom! Everyone gets three times through to the opposite side of the field. Mosey back with 5 burpees in the middle. Finish up with a 4 minute plank.

NMM: Great push by the pax today. Greta to be able to do this at 62. Feel like the best and most productive time of life lies ahead of me and not behind me. Big part of that is learning to live third! Makes for a better investment in time and effort into things that really do matter and create a legacy. That’s what’s important and to become DISPENSABLE! Every graveyard I see is full of indispensable men. Don’t be one!

Tesla

A little buttermilk at The Goat!

YHC wound up with the Goat on Thursday and found a pretty solid beatdown needed to be delivered to the boys in Cramerton this morning. Went like this:

Lunge walk across the bridge to the shelter in the park.

10X, 15X, 20X, Dips, step ups, dirkins, SSH

Lunge back across the bridge and prepare for a triple nickel.

Asked Pilgrim for which hill to do it on and he chose our normal hill at the bottom across from the bridge up to the intersection next to Doffer’s.

Bottom: burpees X 5

Top: Plank Jacks X 5

We got through @ 4 rounds.

Back to COT and a pledge.

NMM:

Perfect morning to do a very locally focused workout with a very high safety factor which as w are operating in the dark now we need to be cognizant of. That includes traffic issues, trails and paths, and potholes. Seen a lot of guys go on IR after an issue here. Me included! Also tells me we need to do a Q school as well and deal with this.

Again, a great morning at The Goat and we are REALLY looking forward to Tricycle’s VQ anytime now!

Fall mornings at the Bobby

9 warriors gathered for an early fall beat down from Uncle Ted this morning. Could not have been a better morning to do this on! Went like this:

Track on the opposite side: plank jacks

You know the drill.

Back to COT and killed a few minutes with a literal circle of pain “Mary” with the pax calling the work running around the circle and the pax while the work is done. We finished up with a 2 minute plank and a pledge.

NMM: Great morning! A lot of bourbon chasers were out. A few IRs too. Pax worked well. Was a fun morning at The Bobby! A local favorite of Tesla for sure.

Pleasure to lead!

Iron Pax at Tequila

One great thing about IPC workouts is they are defined and really limit what a Q needs to do during a workout. In this case it was more about getting things set up before the workout. Our issue here is that we were using a 1/5 mile track, not a 1/4. Which caused us to have to figure out the run portions of the event the day before. So Bubba Sparxx and i hit the AO Thursday afternoon and worked it out. Which was most def worth the time. Went like this:

Everybody that showed decided to roll with the IPC workout. I had a lite version but we were all in. Had a timer at midfield that was on a pedestal  so it could be heard and seen. Marked off some points on the track to correspond to the run distances translated to the 1/5 mile track (a real pain). So off we went as follows:

50 Kraken Burpees – every 2 minutes run across the field and continue the reps. Finis, run

400 yards/meters

50  Lunge, lunge squat burpees- same 2 minute protocol as above.

800 run. 2-1/2 laps on our track.

50 Bonnie Blairs – same 2 minute protocol as above

1200 yd run. (YHC ran 4 full laps which is slightly more than needed. Better to go over than be under.)

Grab a pledge.

NMM:

Everybody hung pretty well! Tough crowd for sure. Not surprised. Dirt, Virus and YHC led the over the hill gang. Sparxx led the younger guys.  Everyone got done inside the 45 minute window. YHC recorded a time @ 41 minutes. It was an ideal fall morning to do this on which probably contributed to the success of the entire pax this morning. One aggravation was the grass has not been cut lately which the wet made it a little more of an uncomfortable event. Does anyone know why elementary schools in Gaston County have 1/5 mile tracks? That soul searing question needs answering! Why not a regulation quarter mile? Things I drink about. This one has me hitting the bottle aggressively!

Great morning, great work by all.

Simple but Effective at The Goat

So in a light mid September 70 degree rain in the gloom YHC had a very simple set of tasks planned out for pax to complete this morning. Went like this:

*COP:

20 SSH

20 IWs

20 gravel pickers

Grapevine stretches.

Mosey up the big hill and back down to the gazebo.

22s – 1st set

HR merkins X 20

Big boys X 2

Increment BBs by 2, decrement HRM X2, We do this together.

1/2 way – run @ the green.

Finish  – Run back up the big hill and back.

22s – 2nd set

CDDs X 20

Squats X 2

Same as above, down to 2 from 20, up to 20 from 2.

1/2 way – run @ the green,

Time was up by the time we finished so we caught a pledge and went to COT.

NMM:

Great morning in the gloom! just enough rain to cool us off in the humidity. Most def all in the gloom now!

This was a very simple but very effective program and beat us down pretty well. Great but small crew today. The regulars missed a good one! Rain was just enough to cool us off.

Bubba Sparxx takes over the site. He’ll do well. Looking forward to watching him lead this operation.

Tesla out!
