The Swarm

On the drive to the AO through Cramerton this morning there was some unusual stuff on the roads that normally isn’t there. After further inspection, the PAX came to find out that there were piles of mayflies that were attracted to the lights around town, easily millions on the ground and in the air. Disgusting! Despite the swarm that tried to take over our usual stomping grounds, there were 10 brave souls who made it out this Monday morning. Aye!

The mumble chatter started early with some PAX insinuating that I needed to put more enthusiasm into the beginning of my workout. Apparently I was talking too softly! That won’t happen again.

No FNGs so no disclaimer.

Mosey toward Goat Island. As the PAX approached the stop sign, YHC stopped for a little break from the routine and called for some hill work with the Bernie Sanders (running backwards up the steepest hill you can find). This announcement brought immediate mumble chatter and calls to skip it for fear of holes and general discomfort. YHC being a reasonable guy and wanting to be the best leader he can be allowed the temporary mutiny of his Q but then called for 10 burpees instead! Mosey on.

Upon reaching the second bridge at the island, the Q called for a bear crawl across with modification of lunges to the other side if needed. Nice work men! Continue the mosey up Main Street past the apartments and down toward the fields out back. The PAX got a little stretched out for a bit but the strong PAX led an improv of core work while waiting for the 6. More moseying with sarcastic mumble chatter followed.

In the home stretch back to the school the PAX got stretched out and separated again. While the Q  and others brought up the rear, the faster men broke down a few rounds of Mary until we arrived. Great work again men! In all we covered just shy of 4 miles this morning.

Announcements: Prayers for Monk’s brother in law’s mother, Anthrax’ grandmother recently passed. T Square

AYE!!!

The Hoarse Whisperer and Tower of Terror

9 PAX made their way out for the first workout of the second half of 2016 but had to strain their ears to hear the weak vocal offerings of the Q. Some annoying virus has infected his household and it was YHC’s turn to endure the coughing and hacking that it brings. In true F3 form, what better way to shake a bug than to post? Let’s do it!

A short mosey west through the parking lot behind the former Tequila’s around to Main Avenue for round of Route 66. At the first light post the PAX would complete 1 merkin. At the next light 2 merkins and so on until the 11th light post where a full 11 merkins were completed. This brings your grand total to 66. Viola, Route 66!

Mosey to the long wall between FUMC’s youth building and the bank for a round of the Triple Check. The PAX coagulated into teams of 3 (and one of 4) for this one. While dude 1 sits in the People’s Chair, dude 2 hold a strong plank and dude 3 sprints to the parking line even with the bank’s drive through ATM and back to their team. Once he’s back, the team rotates throught the cycle. As a side note, we noticed a whole lot of traffic at that ATM for 5:45 in the morning, but remember, it is the 1st of the month! I digress. Back to the exercise. We completed 5 rotations of this before YHC called for a recover. Fun!

A short mosey across the street found the PAX in the parking deck, AKA Tower of Terror, for an unnamed but oh so fun round of unrelated exercises. At the north end of each level, the PAX would complete 15 monkey humpers, run to the other end and bear crawl the incline to the next level. At the top of the incline on that end 15 LBC’s were called for then a run to the other end and so on. Finally, once the PAX reached the very top at the end with no incline, YHC called for 15 derkins with feet up on the top of the wall (almost). Once that was done he called for a countoff to catch his breath and then down to ground level. The PAX completed 3 circuits of this before time was called.

A mosey back to the pavilion called for a short round of:

Flutterkicks x40 IC (for Stroganoff)

Dying Cockroaches x 15IC?

Newtons Cradle x10 IC

Nolan Ryans x10 each side IC

Announcements- Prayers for T-Square, Godfather and others.

Monday Mosey

There were 6 PAX who made it out on Monday to make themselves and each other better. To my surprise an FNG showed after being EH’ed by Stroganoff’s M!!! I’m sure it’s happened before but that is some strong work by Mrs. Stroganoff right there!

The Thang

The PAX set out on our long mosey toward Goat Island. Upon reaching the Goat parking lot we circled up for a quick round of Merkins because the FNG said he wasn’t strong on that. Ask and you shall receive! From there we moseyed some more past downtown, under the train tracks up and around to the mill village neighborhood where we planked for the six. Mosey again to the park down by the river where we grabbed a piece of picnic table for some dips. The last mosey brought us back to home base where we recited the Pledge. Time was up.

Quick Namorama, welcome FNG Hasselhoff!

We lined up for a round of 11s. On one side the PAX did merkins then ran to the other side where we did Goof Balls. This got the blood pumping real good so at the end we caught our breath with 60 seconds of the People’s Chair.

From there we moseyed off the reservation to the uncharted territory of the public basketball court (it was locked!).

The PAX paired up for some quality time doing Dora 123. Man 1 worked toward a cumulative 100 Carolina Dry Docks, 200 LBCs & 300 Squats while Man 2 ran to the other end of the parking lot where he did 5 Bobby Hurley’s. After a little group mumble chatter at the end we took a fellowship mosey down to the gazebo on the lawn for the final lesson. Ab time!

To finish things up YHC had the bright idea to bear crawl the bridge back to the mainland. Mumble chatter followed.

Strong work men. It was a pleasure leading you as always!

Blast Off

The PAX was out in full force to start the week off right today. I got a hard commit the night before from a friend I’d been EH’ing but didn’t see any sign of him until headlights came around the bend from Cramerton way. Normally I like an FNG to have a minute to chit chat before things get cranked up but since he was coming in hot that chance was lost. The show must go on!

Mosey to the Goat Island parking lot.

The Thang

11’s of lunges on one end and mountain climbers at the midway point of the lot. After counting off a couple of times to catch our breath, it was back to campus.

Instead of making it all the way back to home base, we pulled up at the stop sign for some long distance suicides. The PAX paired up and while person 1 planked, person 2 ran to the first speed bump where he did 5 burpees then ran back for the tag. On the next cycle, the PAX had to go to the 2nd speed bump but to save time the Q called Omaha and cut out the burpees. Third cycle had the PAX go to the 3rd speed bump. This seemed to take a really long time so just before everyone finished up the Q audibled again and led the PAX to the flag.

Why Do We Keep Going In Circles?!?

Mosey down to the small roundabout for the real work. The PAX was instructed to sprint from the start to the first road hump where we did 20 Prisoner Squats. Sprint to the next road hump for 20 LBCs. Sprint to the next hump for 20 more Prisoner Squats. Sprint to the stop sign and plank til the 6 arrived. From the stop sign we ran to the artwork at the top and planked til the 6 the arrived. Recovery jog back down to the starting roundabout.

Rinse and repeat with 10 Burpees OYO at the end to top it off.

Mosey back to the parking area.
