Back in the Saddle

It was the first day for F3 Dads in our region in a while and somebody had to make sure punishment was inflicted at The Fighting Yank. YHC was happy to take the point on this version. It had been a while since YHC Qed the Yank. What to do, what to do? This is what happened…

A strong group of 10 was gathered at the edge of Stowe Park, still a good showing considering there were 50+ at the Dads event. Boudin had the helm for The Bunker but when asked who was staying for that or who wanted to move a lot, no one opted for the staying part so we’re all in this together.

Warmup – Don Quixote’s x5 IC

Mosey to the amphitheater for a round of Merkin Jacks. 1 Merkin, 4 Plank Jacks. Request for one of the core principals. 2 Merkins, 8 Plank Jacks and another core principal, etc. up to 5 Merkins and 20 Plank Jacks and we covered all the core principals.

Mosey from there to the front of the old middle school for some Growing Pains. On your 6 for 30 LBCs IC, 30 Big Boy Situps IC and 30 Supermans IC. YHC also introduced Sister Act to the east side men who weren’t familiar with him. You know, just in case.

Head down the road to Davis Park where the Belmont Raiders Optomist practices football teams practice. The scouting report from before the beatdown showed the gate to be unlocked so we headed to the long grassy stretch for the Thang.

Santa Ladder – Line up at one end of the field and do 10 burpees. Run to the other end for 1 Merkin. Run back to the other end and do 9 Burpees, run to the other end for 2 Merkins. We repeated this alternating sequence until we got to the middle because Sister Act stated that he had to leave. At this point, we did the all too rare mid-beatdown Naomorama so that SA could show his face. Back to the session, this time switching around for 1 burpee and 10 merkins. Alternate 2 burpees and 9 merkins, etc until we got to the middle again and we did all the reps. This was a gasser!

Mosey toward the exit but on the way YHC needed to visit the restroom to answer nature’s call. Boudin took the helm for a couple minutes while business was tended to. In no time the deed was done and we were back onto the mosey trail to the next location.

At 1st Presbyterian, the last routine in store for the PAX was a little Dora 123. Partner up and do 100 Derkins, 150 Dips and 200 Dying Cockroaches. Partner 2 runs around the median and then switch. We finished this up pretty quick so we headed to the back of the middle school.

Here we did OPP against the back wall. Partner 1 did wall sits with overhead claps and partner 2 did 20 Peter Parkers. We only had time to get in one round of this before we headed to the Yank statue for the Pledge of Allegiance and COT.

Thanks to Gavel for the opprortunity to lead today and to the HIM for showing up! AYE!!!

Do the Dew

11 men stepped out of their air conditioned homes into the soupy stank of Monday. The forecast has called for what are supposed to be the hottest temps of the year so far. The weatherman was right. HOT, even at 5:30. This is what happened…

Engage mumblechatter! Circle up for a not-so disclaimer, no FNGs. Warmup of Don Q’s and the patented Left Over Right, done per the patent requirements. Get some. Mosey to the luxury sedan where the oversized weinke awaited. Once in hand, the PAX continued moseying to the front of the school.

The Thang – The 6/13/2022

In each round do 6 reps of everything and take a lap around the parking lot, then 13 reps and a lap, 20 reps and a lap, then 22 reps and a lap, planking for the 6 at the end.

Round 1

M – Merkins

T – Turkish Getups

N – Nolan Ryans (count the right side only)

Round 2

D – Diamond Merkins

E – E2K

W – WWI situps

Round 3

B – Bobby Hurleys

O – One Armed Pickle Pounders

X – X Factor

We made it through everything except for the last set of 22 reps but we almost made it. Lots of complaining, whining and gererally regular convo. What better way to start the week.

Moleskin: YHC doesn’t like to recycle a weinke if at all possible. The day before, though, new ideas just weren’t coming through until the brilliant green of the empty box of Mountain Dew box caught my eye. Also, the day before, good ole T Square posted about his trip to the Dew Depot and a Dew Flight. Naturally a box of exercises was in order and we did the Dew!

Impact and Influence

1 runner and 6 ruckers showed for the Sunday version of F3. It was a perfect morning for some fast times (at least for YHC) and an adventure route with the ruckers. All returned safely and benefited greatly from the effort.

In our Q Source discussion, we covered Impact again and what it means to be a HIM who works to help Survivors and Sad Clowns to generate movement to advantage. The unavoidable factor in moving these men is that it takes proximity to ensure effective results.

After getting through that topic pretty quickly, we moved on to Influence and how the HIM must use different tactics than just his own effort and desire to generate movement. The targets of our Influence must want to move themselves with the help of the HIM. Without their own motivation, no benefit can occur.

I Love Men – Pinch It!

This edition of the Bunker started with all the PAX gathering at the Stowe Park steps as usual. Boudin took care of the disclaimer, we said the Pledge of Allegiance and then moseyed down to the Pit.

Warmup from Boudin was super long. Whoopee would’ve hated it and maybe even left. Anyway, after that, the bootcampers skedattled and now we could get our swole on..

Mosey up and around the building to the street beside the railroad tracks for the triumphant return of the JBL Flip. YHC prepared a playlist of fantastic music, first of which was the accompanyment to the Bearway to Heaven! We bearcrawled and and each parking space line did 5 CDDs. About 1/3 of the way through the routine we switched to doing 10 LBCs at each line.

Once done with that, we moseyed back down to the Pit, stopping by Roscoe’s patrol vehicle to grab his 35lb weights which we didn’t even use. It’s the thought that counts! Drop those off and stop by YHC’s ride to get a mess of bricks a block and kettle bells. We didn’t use the kettle bells anyway, but like I said, it’s the thought that counts.

Circle up for the Circle of Pain! While one of the PAX lunge walked around the circle, the rest of us with bricks did a variety of Overhead Presses, Shoulder Shrugs, Morrocan Night Clubs.

Next, head to the wall for 11’s. At the wall we did Wall Sit overhead presses, go to the other end where the concrete barrier things are to do Derkins. YHC left it up the PAX to decide how they’d like to get from one place to the other.

During this routine Boudin brought his houligans around for some wall work. We did lots of marching wall sits with Roscoe calling military cadence, dirty hookups, hip slappers and donkey kicks. We also recited the F3 Mission and the 5 Core Principles. Well done men!

YHC also explained that one of the reasons we post and keep tabs on each other is because of love. This came about becuase it was noticed that one of the concrete barriers had a spray painted message stating “I Love Men”. We kind of took this as our message for the day because it’s true. As it relates to F3, we don’t mean this in a negative way, but in an encouraging, supportive and completely masculine way. Aye!

The houligans left again and we finished up our 11’s.

The last routine of the day, again, because I Love Men, is to partner up for Lazy Dora’s! Partner one holds plank or reverse plank while the other does however many of 100 Dips, 200 Dying Cockroaches (count R leg only) and 300 Calf Raises. We finished this up just in time to get up to the Yank statue for COT.

Thank you men for the opportunity to lead. Aye!!!

YHC took us out.

Who didn’t prepare?

Some folks believe that if you do a certain type of workout then you didn’t prepare. I disagree. This is what happened…

A dozen HIM decided to get better this morning and after a short disclaimer, we warmed up with a mosey to the front of the school. To our surprise, some crazy students blew up a bunch of balloons and filled up a soccer goal with them in front of the school doors. Hilarious!

The Thang – Four Corners Deck of Death

Yep, when YHC pulled the deck out, some smarty pants suggested that there wasn’t any preparation for todays workout. Hardly! The first card was pulled and we did whatever it said to do (+10 reps if it was a number card) but left behind about 1/4 of the deck. Next, we sprinted down the sidewalk to the next corner and YHC pulled another card. Same thing, do the exercise, leave 1/4 of the deck behind. Sprint to the next corner, pull a card, do the exercise and leave 1/4 of the deck behind. Sprint to the last corner and do what the card says. Sprint to the start and swap the next card puller. Do a rotation of that PAX pulling cards all the way back to the start. Switch pullers, do it again. And again. And again. And again.

Time was running short so we headed back home to the start. We started a round of Bring Sally Up until time ran out and that was that. Thanks for the opportunity to lead men!

It was the day after the CSAUP and those who posted to both knew the drill. Get to rucking for some recovery. We explored new routes for some and had a great time doing it.

Q source was all about Live Right. Good convo was had. Until next time, thanks for the opportunity to lead men!

The Mayor made me do it

9 HIM showed to the craggy lot at the bottom of the park for some Folsom action. It was a perfect day for a beatdown, so let’s get it on! This is what happened…

Disclaimer

10 burpees OYO. The Mayor made me do it.

Don Quixotes x10 IC

10 burpees OYO. The Mayor made me do those too.

Pledge of Allegiance

Mosey Indian Run style to the field beside and line up for Bear Crawl Slalom. You guessed it, the Mayor made me do it! Some of the guys hadn’t done this one before so it was lots of new fun! We did a couple cylcles through the line and moseyed on to the smooth parking lot at the other end of the field.

The PAX gathered together to hear the directions for BLIMS. After each exercise, mosey to the other end of the lot, so back and forth.

B – 5 Burpees

L – 10 Lunges each leg

I – 15 Imperial Walkers

M – 20 Merkins

S – 25 Squats Hold on a minute! Isn’t there supposed to be a P in this routine? Yes, but why would Mayor ask me to leave out the P in this routine? Actually, he didn’t. YHC was writing up the weinke too late at night and the P was just forgotten. No worries, we caught it before it was skipped and we kept rolling to the end by doing 25 Plank Jacks and  then 30 Squats. Plank for the 6.

Mosey across the street to the lot near the pond for BLIMPS!!! This lot was longer than the first one so there was extra burn to the mosey part. Plank for the 6. Volt decided to make sure Mayor was doing his fair share by sitting on his back during plank. GOOD

Fast mosey to the really rough lot further away for the next thang. BLIMPS!!! It was at this point that Westside offered to help with picking. Maybe next time. This session was really great. Plenty of sweat was shed.

Mosey down the sidewalk to the tennis courts for 11’s. Do 10 Big Boy Sit Ups, Crab Walk to the other end of the court and do 1 Jump Squat, then NUR to the start. We did LBCs until the 6 finished too.

For the last few minutes we did Karaoke Left to the other end of the courts. Then Karaoke Right. Then Skip to the other side and last we NURed back to the start.

Mosey back to the original lot for a round of Bring Sally Up. Most everybody whined about how long the song is. Sounds like some of y’all need to HTFU!

Announcements: 2nd F Lunch this Wednesday at Sammy’s in Dallas, CSAUP

Prayer Requests: Turtleman, Huckleberry, PAX on IR, Chad McGhee cancer

All joking aside men, it was a pleasure leading today. We had plenty of high quality mumblechatter and we all enjoyed ourselves. I think… Aye!!!

Almost missed this one!

YHC was scrolling though the TeamUp app one evening and noticed that Sargento was listed to Q The Labryinth on the 11th. Funny, I don’t recall signing up for that but I’m also sure that mild mannered site Q Dirt wouldn’t make a mistake so the preparation was on. A totally unique weinke was created for the occasion. Lets Go! This is what happened…

5 HIM showed to make themselves better.

Warmup

Pledge of Allegiance

Mosey down to the gate into Martha’s House. Line up for an Indian Run. Do a few progressions of this until we reach the lower parking area.

Triple Nickel – Do 5 CDD’s and run to the other end to do 5 Lunges each leg. Do this 5 times. Q fail, I didn’t read my weinke correctly and forgot to request a NUR in between. Better luck next time.

Mosey down to between the soccer fields and stop for a couple sequences of Duck & Weave. The PAX lined and duck walked while the rear PAX ran to the front by weaving in between the others. It was great.

Now that we’re down at the lush green and dewey soccer fields, lets put them to use!

The Thang – Four Corners Escalator!!!

Corner 1 – 10 Merkins

Corner 2 – 10 Merkins & 20 Heels to Heaven

Corner 3 – 10 Merkins, 20 H2H & 30 Squats

Corner 4 – 10 Merkins, 20 H2H, 30 Squats & 40 Goofballs

That was wet. That was cold. That was awesome!!! It was so good we (YHC) decided to de-escalate the routine. Even more fun…

Mosey toward the start, stopping on the way for some Dora 123. We only had time for 100 Dips and less than 200 Step Ups before we needed to leave for home base. We made it there just in time and we wrapped with the usual. Thanks for the surprising opportunity to lead today men. Be Prepared!!!

Annoucements: 2nd F lunch next Wednesday at Sammy’s in Dallas, CSAUP the 21st at the Storm

Prayer Requests: Turtleman, Huckleberry, Chad McGhee, Dirt travelling to Detroit and back, end of school tests & exams for kids

That was a lot longer than expected

Word was sent out from the Site Q that the President of F3 Dark Helmet wouldn’t be joining us today and that a sub was needed. YHC answered the bell. This is what happened…

Gavel planted his Site flag for us to give our Pledge of Allegiance to. Way to be prepared Gavel! We said that pledge.

Warmup of some stuff.

Mosey down and around the parking and drop off areas of the school to arrive at the knobs near the side entrance.

Triple Nickle – Do 5 Derkins, bear crawl to a wall a fur piece away from where you are and do 5 Donkey Kicks. Rinse and repeat 5 times.

Mosey across the lot and up the way to the condemned baseball field area for The Thang!

11’s-

Do 10 Burpees at the top, mosey down to the gate at do 1 Big Boy Sit Up. Flapjack the numbers until it’s 1 Burpee and 10 Big Boys. This took forever and gobbled up  all the available time we had. My weinke still had stuff left on it too! Oh well, next time. By my calculations we ran almost 3 miles today. Thanks for the opportunity to lead.

Prayer requests: Turtleman, Huckleberry, PAX on IR, school ending and kids taking test/exams; praise – Breaker is done paying for college!

Annoucements: 2nd F lunch at Sammy’s in Dallas Wednesday the 18th, CSAUP Saturday the 21st at The Storm (read Roscoe’s preblast for deets)

Moleskin: As always, we need to be prepared for the unexpected. Even though YHC fouund out ahead of time that Dark Helmet wasn’t going to make it and I was able to come up with a workout, we should expect plans to not go as planned. Life has a way of throwing curve balls at you when you least expect it! We must be prepared!!!

First time in a long time

The gloom was perfect for getting some work in on the Mexican celebration day known as Cinco de Mayo. 6 HIM showed to give it their best. This is what happened…

Disclaimer

Pledge of Allegiance

Warmup

Mosey around the green space but keep going to the railroad underpass an hold Peoples Chair for the 6. Keep moseying down the sidewalk to the cage for the first round of pain.

Elevens – On one end do 10 Mexican Jump Squats, run to the other end of the cage and do 1 Dying Cockroach (think “La Cuca Rocha” from Looney Tunes days). Switchi it up until the numbers are flipped.

Mosey back toward downtown, stopping at the underpass for the 6 and end up at the secret parking lot at the top of the shops.

Dora 123 – Partner up, do 100 Merkins, 200 of something else and 300 LBCs. While partner 1 is doing reps, partner 2 would run around the building and up the stairs.

Mosey around city hall and down to the bridge onto Goat Island. Bear crawl the wooden part of the bridge. After that, karaoke to the other bridge. Hold plank for the 6. Karaoke back to the other bridge and mosey to the start.

We finished up with a very brief round of mary and wrap up reps.

There was plenty of mumblechatter and countoffs today. A small crew still makes for a great workout and fellowship! It had been a long time since YHC Qed Goat Island since it operates at the same time as the Pub but filling in for Bubba Sparxxx at the last minute was a welcome surprise. AYE!!!
