Black Friday Specials @Sunrise

Three Pax posted for the Black Friday Specials at Tequila Sunrise, and savings were found everywhere.

First things first… a warmup and 5 burpees for the train, then jump in for a mosey to the first store. At each store, each Pax called an exercise, and YHC called the reps. If the price was deemed too steep, a discount could be requested. Since YHC also likes to save, all discounts were given, but you should have seen the retail! After all purchases were made, mosey on to the next stop. Traffic wasn’t heavy, but we took it slow nonetheless. Four stops in total and a final round of Mary at the flag with enough time for YHC to call 100 burpees. A 99% discount was requested and granted.

Announcements: Christmastown 5K Saturday; Christmas party on the 11th; voting for the awards

Prayer requests: Pax traveling, Tube and family, Big Pappy and family

Celebrating the Win!

No, YHC is not a big Braves fan, however, it does make for an interesting way to come up with a beat down at The Goat.

First The Pledge, then a warmup… needed as it was chilly.

The THANG…

Run up the hill for the first round of BRAVES WIN, which is similar to BLIMPS (or any other “acronym” that spells out a workout routine). 26 reps each, representing the 26 years between Braves WS wins of (B)ig Boys, (R)ockette dips, (A)polo Ohnos, (V)enezuelan shoulder taps (really no different from the American version), (E)uropen hammers (I got these from BOS), (S)quat jumps, (W)irkins, (I)ncline merkins, and (N)olan Ryans.

A quick 10 count and down the hill to the island. Lunge walk the bridge, and repeat BRAVES WIN. A discussion ensued regarding the health of the bridge in the back, so another mosey and lunge walks to confirm that the signage is not 100% correct, then back to the flag with time for Mary.

Announcements (you’ve seen ‘em), and prayer requests, and YHC took us out.

P.S. Congrats to the Braves for the win. It’s always good to bring it home.

Better Late Than Later

Split personality morning at Tequila Sunrise (Oct. 1) as half the Pax showed up early with Sparxx and Nutria for IPC Week 4 challenge, while the smart kids followed YHC for IPC Week 4, modified.

After a quick stop to grab a couple of coupons each, and a mosey to the unlighted tennis courts, the pax got started on a 35 minute IPC W4 version.

The THANG…

Each pax performed 150 curls, 125 squats, 100 overhead presses, 75 merkins (no coupons), 50 thrusters (squat w/ overhead press), and 25 Bonnie Blairs (no coupons) in that order.  The catch is that after each 25 reps, there is a suicide run of about one and a half courts. The 35 minute timer started with the first rep of curls. If a pax got through all 525 reps, then they start back up with 25 Bonnie Blairs, 50 thrusters, etc., including the suicide runs.

The guys pushed hard, and each one made it through. A little mosey back to the flag to join the brothers finishing up the full IPC.

After The Pledge, announements and prayer requests, YHC took us out.

Not Much Running at Tequila Sunrise

Finally cooled off a bit and had a good crew this morning with the promise of not much running. Turned out a little more than expected with 1.8 miles covered and accomplished a lot of merkins as we knocked out the following:

Warm up – Good mornings (new stretch for this group, and a great stretch), Hill Billies, Merkins, Plank hold/Plank Jacks/Plank hold

Suicides in the bus lot with 10 WWIs at the start, 5 Merkins at 1/3rd, 10 Merkins at 1/2, 15 Merkins at 2/3rds, and 10 WWIs at the far end. Repeato going back the other way.

Dora with 100 merkins, 200 LBCs, and 300 bench squats (butt hits the bench).

Extra bench work with dips, erkins, and dirkins.

Wall time with people’s chair, hip slippers and Mike Tysons.

Time for Mary with dealer’s choice, 10x.

Announcements: F3 Dads

Driving Ain’t Easy

After a brief warmup of Hillbillies, Don Qs, Gravel pickers, Toy soldiers, and Imperial walkers, the Pax took a short mosey to grab a couple of coupons, which would be needed later.

The thang: mostly kettlebells in this four round bout.

Round 1: 20 reps each KB swings, KB tricep curls, Merkin KB pull through, KB curls, KB bent rows, KB overhead press, and 10 reps of brickees (burpees with the coupons)

Take a slow mosey with the coupons in hand, overhead, to the end of the lot and back.

Round 2 15 reps each of the same, 10 reps of brickees, then head to the wall with the kettlebell for a bit of Driving Miss Daisy, which is simply a wall sit with the KB held out front, driving style. After getting Miss Daisy home, swap the KB for the coupons for some wall sit presses.

Back for Round 3 at 10 reps each, then another slow mosey with the coupons overhead.

Round 4 with 5 reps of each exercise, and a little time for some Mary. Head to The Yank and we’re out.

A May Workout @ The Storm

Oops, I’m late, so this is gonna be a quickie write-up.

We did a quick warm-up, said the pledge, then ran around the parking lot, and did some dips and merkins. Then half the Pax ran up and down the sidewalk while the other half did a few things from the lexicon, like step ups, calf raises, squats, etc. There were flip-flops so everyone had a chance to do it all.

Short slow mosey for some rugby sprints and just enough time to head back to the flag for a little stretching.

Announcements: blood drive 6/16, F3 Dad’s at The Yank 6/19

Prayer Requests: Pax on IR, Turtleman, Sister Acts family, Big Pappy

The PT Test NOT

YHC offered to Q The Yank on PT Test Saturday for those pax that did not want 250 reps of the same thing over and over and over and…

After a standard warm-up of SSHs, toy soldiers, Don Qs and burpees, the HIMs grabbed a couple of coupons out of The Chariot and moseyed to the pit.

The workout went something like this:

11s with wall sit presses at one end and jump squat presses at the other. Oh, and a pavee (not a blockee or brickee) each time crossing the mid-point.

After a 1-2 count off, a 2 team Dora was called.  Team 1 ran the outside of the pit while Team 2 performed an exercise (merkins, wall sit punches, MNCs, LBCs, and squats with arms held high), with a flap jack after each exercise. Everything was done with the coupons. YHC likes to hear mumble chatter, and a non-counting block o’ reps greatly aided in that endeavor.

With plenty of time to spare, suicides were in order using extra coupons to mark the turn around. Start with 5 hip slappers, run to the first coupon and do one pavee, run back. Do 5 dirty hook ups, run to the second coupon and do two pavees, and so on. 5 big bois, and 5 diamonds finished up round 1. Round 2 was in reverse, beginning with 10 diamonds, running to coupon 4 and do 4 pavees, and suicide back down.

A quick mosey back to The Chariot to drop off the coupons, and YHC asked Dirt for a full set of Dirty Calves at the stairs. Mumble chatter was high! Just enough time for some Mary and time was called.

Announcements: Young Life Golf Tournament May 10, Grow Ruck event in Charlotte in August, Free to Bleed 4/29 at Noble Smoke, Free to Bleed at Park Street Church in June

Prayer Requests: Praise for Dirt and his new job, CPAP and other pax looking, Gavel to stay motivated, Stephanie Macmahan, Turtle Man, and Sprinkler’s surgery.

Tiger took us out.

Outside the Lines? Out of Bounds? You Decide

On Tuesday nights, YHC reserves his time for the Primal Belmont Run Club, and this night was no different… or was it?

The weather was beautiful, so why only a small group of F3 pax? Well, YHC’s M was still out of town, as were the mainstay Dandro’s. If you don’t know Deb Dandro, then you are missing every run group in Charlotte. She is well known, not for her speed, but for her prolific attendance and pictures. As such, she brings runners to our Tuesday night from all over Charlotte. Her EH skills probably rival that of Sargento’s. BOS blamed his boss for the fart sack, Fintstone just fart sacked, as did Virus (maybe they were at Folsom?).

No matter, we had a group, we ran 4 miles, talked about The Mortimer, talked about the missing runners, and decided to make this a one night only AO. At the end, YHC led the COT with announcements, name-o-rama, and prayer requests.

So you decide. Do the four Pax get credit? Was this a “sanctioned” event? YHC says “aye!”

Please remember YHC’s M traveling, the Pax looking for work, and Minivan’s 2.0.

YHC took us out.

Double Down Thursday, The Deuce

It was YHCs second Q of the day, but first Q at Midoriyama. After the pledge and a short w/u, it was time to do some work with a mosey to  the fields. At each light pole on the right, Pax did a merkin and squat, adding one rep at each stop. Moseyed the long way round to the dog poop hill for a triple nickel, big boys at the bottom (feet pointing uphill), bear crawl to the top, heels to heaven at the top (feet pointing downhill), crab walk to the bottom, rinse and repeat 5 times.

Plenty of time remaining, so a 4 corner escalator was in store. 5 burpees at corner 1, mosey to corner 2 for 5 burpees and 10 diamond merkins, corner 3 added 20 squats, and corner 4 added 40 lbcs. Return the other way, back down the escalator.

Mosey back to the flag, with merkins/squats at the light poles.

COT, shout out to Dirt for joining YHC in the double down, YHC took us out.

Double Down Thursday

After posting for Dirt’s first Q at Midoriyama, YHC was called out to make his debut at the mountain. Obliging the Site Q, a date was set, 3/11, setting up a double down Q since YHC had secured The Goat for the same day back in February. Both were HCs, so nothing else to do but show up and do it.

First the Goat… after the pledge and a short w/u, and a short mosey behind the buildings, time for a little tour de Cramerton. Divided the pax into to two groups. Group A would perform a series of exercises, 10 reps each, while Group B would take a mosey and perform a different set of exercises, 5 reps each. The groups switched when Group B returned. Rinse and repeat 2 more times, each mosey longer than the previous.

With time remaining, mosey to the grassy hill for some 11s. YHC called time and headed back to the flag.

COT, Nutria took us out.
