Brothers

12 PAX posted for one of the last days in the full light at Midoriyama. Daylight savings time will put us in the gloom come next week. We were planning to do a surprise post at Floppy Disk’s house since he has been MIA lately but While I was doing some scouting(trick or treating) Monday night he mentioned he was going to post. With that messages were sent to abort the plan and all made it to Midoriyama. Good to have such a strong crowd out today!

Warmup:

SSH x 16 ic I was going a little higher but noticed Def Leppard was hoping on one foot due to his broken toe.

Moroccan Nightclubs w/ high knees and butt kickers

LBC’s x 15 ic

Flutter Kicks x 15 ic

Sandy V’s x 10 ic ( for Billy Madison)

The Thang:

Mosey to the end parking lot at the soccer fields

Route 66- All in a line together, Bobby Hurley’s at each line starting with 1 then 2 then 3 and so on until 11

Fellowship mosey around the island to recover

Lunge between lines and 1 merkin at each parking space line. So I heard someone say “just 1 merkin”. The thing about doing one merkin is it’s basically doing a burpee. It’s a mental trick! We did this for the length which was about 20 lines worth.

Mosey back across the park to the stairs.

2 at a time do 10 calf raises on each step x 13 steps( For Tooltime ). Everyone else planks until they can get on a step. When finished plank until all are done.

Mosey back to the flag for the Pledge.

Partner up w/cement block. Partner 1 10 blockees Partner 2 wall sit about 20 yds away. Switch. Rinse and repeat for 5 rounds=50 blockees each! Floppy Disk’s favorite exercise!

Same setup but this time we did curls x 30.

Announcements-CSAUP, Nomads headed to Isotope, Gastonia Convergence, Holiday Party in January

Prayer Request-Lil Sweet’s family member getting tonsils removed and tubes put in, Tooltime, Floppy’s M and family, surgery is this Friday.

Read-Colossians 3:15-17- And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body, and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Moleskin:

I can’t say enough about this group of guys. Week in and week out consistently posting, pushing themselves and each other. When you listen to the conversations they are always asking about and checking up on things happening in each others lives. That tells me they really care. I want to personally thank all of you for the support and prayers for Floppy Disk’s family.

Home

6 PAX headed south to Rock Hill to check out what was happening at The Patriot. I have been following this group for a while and have noticed they have a great turn out every week. I was very interested to see what it is they are doing to make it work so well. Upon arrival we were welcomed right into the group. Everyone was glad to have us there. Just a few days before going I found out that an old friend of mine that I hadn’t seen in years had recently starting posting in Rock Hill. I sent word that I would be down and it would be great to see him there. How awesome is that. To be able to reconnect after years and throw a little sweat on the ground. Keep pushing Pac Man!

The AO here is great! They meet up in a parking lot beside a track/football field at the middle school. It is also right beside Cherry Rd Park. Endless opportunities here. Fortunately we got to sample a good bit of it. Great Q and great work by all.

So I named the BB Home because that’s how I felt at this AO. At home! Everyone was very welcoming, friendly and supportive. We should all take notes from these guys and make sure we treat all FNG’s and visitors like this. So now I know their secret… they’re just good F3 men!

Bucked and Stomped

So I sent out a warning telling you that you weren’t ready to go to the Mustang. I was talking to you. You know who you are! Most accepted this warning( I wish I would have) and only 3 Nomads crossed the River into the heart of metro. The Mustang is located right where it all began. So some of these PAX have been doing this thang for 5 years. A beatdown was to be expected.

As usual during the journey the conversation was ripe. Wisdom was shared( Vasectomy talk) of leasons learned. We were in contact with a usual nomad, Pizza Man, who was off to set a personal best 5K time. Congrats Sir and to your M!

We arrived a little early as we like to do but were unaware of where to park. Usually you just find the cars but as our luck would have it the school had something going on so there was a lot of people around. So as time grew near we had to start circling the school getting weird looks by most. Luckily we found our group just before start time. So before we get to the thang a little side note. When I made the nomad schedule it was just based off of the map and a rotating schedule between some close by regions. I didn’t do any research on the workout. A few days before going Def Leppard mentioned he had been reading BB and noted that some of the workouts had 5+miles. How the hell do you squeeze that in plus exercises in an hour? Well after doing 5 miles and exercises with them I can tell you…..VERY QUICKLY AND YOU DON’T STOP! As someone who favors the mummble chatter this was not the group for me. These guys are all about the work. I didn’t hear hardly any chatter. Well to be fair it was hard to hear anything back at the 6 position I was in. I went into the first task feeling pretty good. Gandolf had the Q and put us on the track where he called 800m SPRINT then 20 merkins and 30 LBC’s. So what I heard was sprint so wanting to represent well that’s what I did. It took about a half a lap for the 800 part to sink in….umm he just said sprint a half a mile! That’s when I knew I was in trouble. That first half a lap was the last time I wasn’t getting the 6 the rest of the day! Slaw and Def Leppard gave it a valiant effort but found themselves picking me up.

This was one of those gut check workouts. You think your pushing the rock then you go somewhere like this and find out you’ve just been leaning against it. All that said everyone there was very welcoming. They pushed us to get better. The AO is great and we had a great time getting know everyone better at the coffeteria. Thank You Brothers! The next time we meet I will probably be going in the opposite direction with the other crowd.

All up hill from here

8 men pushed the rock and each other on the trails of Midoriyama. This is how it went.

Warmup:

SSH, Imperial Walker, Hillbilly, Merkin, Sandy V, Freddy Mercury

The Thang:

Pretty simple today. We ran the trails mostly. 2.25 miles worth. Started on the Big leaf loop and added in some of the Laurel loop. We stopped a few times to do 20 jump squats, 30 sandy v’s and 40 merkins.

COT:

Announcements: Nomads heading to the mustang in the metro

Prayer request-Floppy’s M, Injured brothers.

Pledge

Moleskin:

Thanks for the push today fella’s. I was running on zero sleep due to taking some allergy medicine at the wrong time. I really didn’t want to do it today after tweeking all night. Good to see Stroganoff out at Midoriyama again. It’s cooler now so if you want to come visit you won’t melt now.

Mom’s Car

Week 2 of the Gashouse Nomads took 5 (teenage acting) Pax to what would seem to be the other side of the known world(Charlotte) for some. Hushpuppy hooked us up with the start of F3 Monroe. (Un)Fortunately for us we were headed closer to hurricane Matthew or as some called it the “yellow area of the storm”. Here’s what I recall.

To start there was a lot of talk about being idiots for doing this. Will anybody even post? 34 Did! What? So at least we know there are a lot of us idiots out there. There was some discussion about Tom Selleck’s mustache, hair color, age(71 we googled it) and ability to be that dang handsome at that age! Haters for sure. We rolled in Hushpuppy’s Moms car which was missing headrest. Ash Pond was convinced it was so he couldn’t hit anybody in the back of the head with it. You know how teenagers are! We also learned that after a certain age you shouldn’t trust a fart. There wasn’t an incident just wise words. Glass Joe put on a great workout! Great turnout for such a nasty day! YHC found 35 cent worth of nickels continuing the streak of F3 paying me. About 25 showed for the livermusharama after. The ride home continued to have colorful conversation. Smuggling tips for spit soaked cuban cigars? So anyway we made it back. Well done Hushpuppy! Turns out the world is not flat. The good thing about traveling that far for a workout it gives you time to talk to your brothers and get to know them a little better. Great 2ndF. We may not see Hushpuppy for a while. He may be grounded for messing up his Mom’s car.

Gashouse Flag

So this is the first installment of the Nomads journal from the road. Since the workout is posted by the workout Q this will just be insights into the journey, observations and all out ramblings from YHC.

So the first week on the road we headed for Area 51 ,home of the SOB’s, to Da Vinci. This location was selected as Huckleberry was rallying the troops to get back the ghost flag. When I first rolled into the mall parking lot I thought it looked like a group of teenagers hanging out with their cars on Friday night. Nope just some F3 guys at 5:30 in the morning! 14 as a matter of fact. Great job guys! That’s how you capture a flag! So I learned that Def Leppard isn’t a morning person. I guess that’s why he usually post to Midoriyama. We also learned there are two Chick Fil A’s on the same road not to far apart(small detour). Whoopee, with much determination, managed to get one of them to open up early for him. Da Vinci is a great AO with lot’s of workout options. YHC found $3.50 worth of quarters during the workout proving that F3 really does pay. 777 did a great job leading as always. He even turned the Sandy V into an actual exercise. Keep a watch out on the exercise list so you can add it to your next wienke.  It was great to meet the F3 brothers pushing the rock down that way and that is the whole point of the Nomads.

Next week we visit Monroe for the launch. Stay tuned for more stories from the road. I’m sure it will get interesting!

46 and 2

10 PAX posted to get a workout today not knowing they would have so much fun!

Warmup:

46-SSH ic and  2 Burpees

46-Moroccan Nightclubs ic and 2 Burpees

There was a lot of mumblechatter during the SSH’s! A lot of confused looks as well.

The Thang:

Indian Run to the soccer field while carrying a 30 lbs slamball. Runner 1 carries it and passes it off to the last runner when he catches up.

At the soccer field we split up for about 15 minutes of bearcrawl/crabwalk soccer. The PAX really got into this. You could see the competitive spirit come out. There was a lot of talk about yellow cards but I didn’t see anything? Sorry Lil Sweet for not giving you a high five but you weren’t on my team. I think he was really trying to distract me.

Next up we took turns throwing the slamball. After each throw we walked up and did 46 ab exercises and 2 burpees. They went like this:

46 LBC’s and 2 burpees

46 Freddy Mercury’s and 2 burpees

23 WWII Situps, 23 Flutterkicks and 2 burpees

23 WWII Situps, 23 Flutterkicks and 2 burpees (OK so we modified on those two but they were really starting to hurt at this point. They still equaled 46)

46 Flutterkicks and 2 burpees

46 Dying cockroaches and 2 burpees

46 Hello Dolly’s and 2 burpees

46 In/Out’s and 2 burpees

46 American Hammers and 2 burpees

46 Plank hip dips and 2 burpees

We had a little time left so we played another 10 minute round of soccer then repeated the Indian run back to circle up. 22 Merkins. I forgot to the pledge today guys sorry!

Announcements:

CSAUP-looks like about 6 Midoriyama regulars have signed up so far. I see a team forming! We’ve got a crew headed out as Nomads this Saturday in search of a Ghost Flag. We may end up out numbering the home team when we get there.

Prayer Request:

Huck and Allen Tate’s family, Floppy Disk’s M and family.

Moleskin:

So I heard the Tool song “46 and 2” on the radio today and it got me to thinking of Tooltime. As hard as it is for me to admit it I think I’m starting to miss him! Tooltime and I don’t ever really hang out outside of F3 but some how just doing this thang we develop bonds with one another. Amazing! So today’s workout goes out to Coretime with Tooltime! Get back out soon brother.

Hills and Thrills

So for the last several months approaching the BRR I have been stating I would not be running anything more than a 5K after it’s over. I still feel that way most of the time but I enjoyed the trip and the fellowship so much that I have now signed up to do the Palmetto 200 and have HC’d for next years BRR. Thanks to my F3 brothers for putting on the EH and making me better. So that being said I also may have said no running on Tuesday following the BRR. Well obviously I’m an idiot and just mummblechatter a lot. My 2.0 and I were riding bikes around Midoriyama and she was looking for a fast hill and stumbled upon the lane to the lake dock. I thought “this looks like a bad idea”! P200 training begins!

Warmup:

The usual Seal Jacks, Don Tooltimes and whatnot.

Mosey to the lake dock. I was very impressed with this noisy crowds quit approach as there were fishermen on the dock. Respectful!

The Thang:

Run up the hill about a third of the way to the picnic shed for 20 dips and 20 decline merkins and back down to plank for the 6. Rinse and repeat 3 times.

Going from the shed run to the top for LBC’s and CDD’s( I think) and back down for 5 burpee’s. Rinse and repeat 3 or 4 times.

Mosey back to the Flag for the pledge.

I’m pretty sure I’m missing some monkey humpers and other stuff in here. That’s what happens when you do the BB a few days late. Either way the point is we ran and we ran some hills! Good work by all!

COT:

Closed with the prayer.

Leg Day

7 Pax and 1 2.0 took the DRP and posted in the heat! YHC had found some screenshots from several months ago that I captured while looking at the exercise list. It was some things that looked interesting at I felt it was a good day to try them out.

Warmup:

SSH x 10ic

Don Quixte x 10ic (I think? These were counted Def Leopard style)

Merkins x 10ic

Goofballs x 10ic(I think the 2.0 liked these)

Pledge(Since one flag is being engraved and Floppy’s M wouldn’t let him come today we had to improvise and use the flag from my porch)

Mosey to the hill by the baseball field

The Thang:

Partner up and do Burp Back Mtn:

Partner one does Burpee’s while partner 2 runs backwards up hill and forward down x 3 then switch until 100 burpees are complete.

Coupons a what?

I went out of town for a few days before I got to do this BB so it will be straight to the point. Of course that is what counts on this one anyway! 10 Pax and 1 FNG got a little surprise when they posted at Midoriyama.

Warmup: The usual stuff

Mosey to another parking lot where the flag and coupon awaited. Pledge. YHC explained my truck was going to be the coupon and that we would be taking turns pushing it 40′ where there would be exercises marked on the ground with chalk.

The Thang.

Partner up. Partner 1 pushes 40′ partner 2 steers and lets partner 1 know when he can stop then they switch. Once both are done they switch with another team. Meanwhile the other PAX run ahead to the 40′ mark to do the marked exercises until the truck arrives. We did this to one end and back. Exercises were:

Squats, Merkins, LBC, Calf raises, CDD, Lunges, Alabama ass kickers, Flutter kicks, ABC hop(hop out lettters AMAZE), Shoulder taps, Mason twist, Crab cakes, Hillbilly, Curb step ups.

Once round 1 was complete we moseyed to a  near by hill to meet a friend named Joe Hendricks! If you don’t know him look him up!

Back to the parking lot for another round. We couldn’t get a 3rd round in due to people blocking up our lot for softball practice. YHC decide it would be a god time to go back and talk to Joe one more time. At this point it was noticed that Lil Sweet seemed to be talking on his phone an awful lot? A little confused it was yelled there’s no phone time in F3! He said he was working but many questioned it.

So we moseyed over to the playground for 2 rounds of 10 pullups and one leg lunges. Mosey back to the start with enough time for some wall work.

5 hipslappers IC……hold it……5 Australian Mtn climbers IC and recover.

Circled up just in time for 45 seconds of burpees.

COT: I don’t remember a lot but we did name our FNG. Tooltime’s nephew down from the frosty climate of Buffalo. He was advised that this kind of thing wouldn’t work that far north but he is welcome to try. I’m pretty sure he thinks we’re idiots and will be telling the tale of the men of F3.

As usual great job again today guys. I hope everyone enjoyed. You all owe me for a detail job as my seat and door panel are quite gross!
