Burpeethon

BURPEETHON!!!!!

It’s that time. What you have all been waiting for. The suspense has built and now comes the pain! Yes I know you were thinking this was going to happen already but it really is this time! When this was originally going to happen there were other parties involved that just couldn’t get it done. In steps a group of HIM’s that always get the job done. A beacon of light for the community. This event has been going on in Gastonia for some time and it’s sole purpose is to raise money for the Special Olympics. This year and many more to come F3 Gastonia has partnered with the Gastonia Police Department to make the money rain. The WOD this year will be  two man teams that venture through a one and half mile loop with several pain stations along the way. It will consist of exercises where the team and/or individual teammates must do a certain number of exercises as designated. I’ve got a feeling there will be burpees.

Location: Rankin Lake Park 1750 Rankin Lake Rd Gastonia, NC

When: September 16th Registration is from 8-8:45. The Pain starts at 9:00.

Cost: $25 and you get a shirt

There will be a swat display or so I’ve been told. There will also be opportunity for additional pain and competition. For two dollars each you can enter the one minute drill competitions.  Winners get gift cards from local businesses. The drills will consist of Merkins, Situps, Burpees and Hipslappers. I mean if you think you’re up to it! Keep a look out for the flyer and get your team ready.

Eleven’s

A large crowd gathered in the sun at Midoriyama on Tuesday afternoon. Lot’s of mummblechatter was going around before the start. I figured once we got started I could knock that down a bit. We had several FNG’s so a disclaimer was given and we got to it.

Warmup:

SSH x 20ic

Don Q’s x 20ic

Pledge. Let’s mosey but not that far.

The Thang: 11’s That’s all we did!

1st parking lot-Merkins on one side and little curb dips on the other. However it was the back and forth that got everyone. Bearcrawls! I warned everyone they may need gloves. Many tough guys laughed at the idea. The asphalt there isn’t smooth and it is pretty toasty that time of day. About half way I noticed most of the crowd had modified to lunges so I called the bearcrawls off and we just ran the rest.

Somewhere in here we picked up an FNG who was with his family at the playground.

2nd parking lot-Bobby Hurley’s and CDD’s. NUR back and forth. I heard the comment that the NUR’s go well with the BH’s(mental note taken).

3rd parking lot-Monkey Humpers and Mike Tysons. Long jump or bunny hop back and forth. Quite a few PAX modified the jumps. I was a little disappointed but they tried I guess.  Shout out to Pockets who ,was next to me, continued to push himself through this one. Tooltime was on the other side of me but was very quiet except for when he was complaining or making excuses.

4th parking lot-Low on time so let’s do what we can. Burpees and Don Q’s. Lunge back and forth. We got a few rounds in before time was called. I think Slaw got in one more round than the rest of us just because he is a burpee loving weirdo.

COT:

Announcements- SFN  Race, Stanley 5K Sept. 23rd-Good fundraiser, let’s represent in the Mayor’s town. I’m sure he is already signed up! Fundraising for F3 fall expansion. Lot’s more in the nation, check out the news letter.

Namerama: Welcome FNG’s Batman(our friend from the playground, Hopefully he and his dad will come back to see us), Crabgrass, Wrong Turn, Muggsy (2.0)

Prayer Request and Prayer

Moleskin:

As I suspected the mummble  chatter was at a minimum once the workout started. We really didn’t have a lot of time since we never stopped moving. Strong work by all! I had about three more things in the wienke. I guess I’ll save those for next time.  I hope to see all of you then! Keep up the good work on the EH. I’m really impressed by these PAX continuing to bring in the FNG’s.

Movin

19 PAX posted for another hot one at Midoriyama. YHC sent a warning shot on twitter at lunch for everyone to get a good energy supply. As I came in Hot everyone was waving in excitement. It’s great to see everyone is so glad to see me coming. I wonder how many like to watch me go? No never mind I don’t want to know! Moving on!

Warmup:

SSH x 25ic

Don Q x 25ic

Let’s Mosey. We ran around to the Picnic Shelter.

The Thang:

P1 Runs down toward the lake to the other shelter and does 10 derkins. P2 stays and does 20 tri dips then runs after P1. They switch at the bottom. When P2 finishes his derkins he runs back up to catch P1. This makes one round. We did 3. That long hill really started to suck.

No time to waste let’s mosey. Inspired by Gastone’s Q Friday I decided we would not stop moving. We moseyed to the other side of the road to the new walking trail and ran a little and did exercises and so on and so forth.  Exercises consisted of burpees, hand release merkins, sumo squat jumps, bear crawls, crab walks, freddy mercury’s. Most of which we did multiple times. We ran, stopped for exercises and ran again. Some times we fellowship moseyed to catch our breath but we never stopped moving unless we were doing exercises. Everyone and I mean everyone had to push the rock on this one. All did a great job. I thought I heard Strogonoff start to cramp. Luckily Defib posted! We had 2 FNG’s and to be honest I don’t feel like this one was friendly but they handled it like champs.

COT:

Announcments-Def Leppard has the Q at Folsom Saturday, Upcoming 5K run in Stanley September 23rd, Speed for Need Christmastown run get signed up and let Tooltime know, Lot’s going on in F3 Nation keep a look  out for info in our news letter.

Moleskin:

Awesome job by all that took the DRP! To bad Oompa Loompa wasn’t there. I wonder if he went to New York to hand out with Nerdacon celebrity Floppy Disk? Welcome Hoser and Subprime!

Leaders

After a great 3rd F by Shrink it was time to sweat. 12 Men posted in all for Gashouse and Painlab.

Warmup: I made it up as we went

Mosey to the flag for the pledge then on to the track where a few blocks awaited.

The Thang:
I originally had something a little different planned but changed for the number of PAX there. I wanted to get everyone involved with the Q. At each corner of the track we did exercises that were lead by each PAX there. When we went to the the next corner we took turns carrying the blocks.
Exercises:
Merkin, Squat, Flutter Kicks, Plank Jacks, Seal Jacks, Hillbillies.
1st corner x 5ic
2nd x 10ic
3rd x 15ic
4th x 20ic
YHC would call on a different PAX to lead each one of these at each corner. All did a great job!

Mosey to the hill at the ball field.
Partner up for Jacob’s ladder. P1 does SSH at the bottom while P2 runs to the top and does 1 burpee then switch. Add a burpee each time you go up. Do 7 trips. Crowd pleaser!

Mosey to the picnic tables for 30 dips ic. Of course I didn’t tell anyone how many.

Mosey back to the parking lot where the Painlab guys were standing on ther hands! Circle up for the Iron hulk(Jack Webb at a 1:4 ratio). Man my hands are so heavy!

COT:
Announcements-Advisory meeting Sunday at 7 at Cavendish Brewery. Website is up. Give Floppy Disk some praise when you see him. He took this on without being asked and has done a great job!

Prayer Request: Families with lose, Coach K, Several friends and family members fighting cancer.

Moleskin:
YHC talked during the workout about the mission of F3. Sometimes I feel like I get lost in everything going on and forget the real purpose. We are here to become leaders and build leaders. For this thing to work it requires each and everyone of us to lead. During the workout everyone lead a part of it. That’s where it starts. Leading a workout. Then your confidense grows and you take that confidense home with you to lead your family the way God intended you too. Then from there you spread it into your community. Being a leader isn’t easy. It comes with a heavy burden you have to carry(the blocks we took turns carrying) but our Lord never said things would be easy. We took turns carrying this load and did partner work as an example that we are here for each other and don’t have to carry the load alone. By the way did I mention we have an Advisory meeting this week? Come out and help carry the load.

Hills on Fire

18 PAX showed at Midoriyama on Thursday and it was hot as Haydes! We are in full blown Midoriyama summer weather now. 90+ degrees and equal amount humidity. Of course this is not enough to keep these men away so we went at it.

Warmup:

SSH x 15ic

Don Q x 10ic

Hillbillies x 10ic

The Thang:

Mosey across to hill #1-Joe Hendricks up and back down. Crabwalk backwards up and back down.

Mosey to hill #2-Clock merkins. Knowing we usually struggle with which way we are facing YHC made it very clear where 12 o’clock was and then screwed up right off the bat! Your welcome.

Mosey across the park to hill #3-Jacob’s Ladder-nur up the hill, do a burpee and run back down. Do this 7 times and add a burpee each time. This seemed to be a crowd favorite.

Mosey towards the dog park to hill #4-Triple Nickel with squats at the top and WWI’s at the bottom.

Tunnel of love x 2

Mosey back towards the flag. Stopped off in the parking lot for King of Hearts-Suicides across and back in regular, karaoke, and backward style.

Mosey back to the flag.

COT:

Pledge

22 for the Vets. Thanks Powerball for the reminder and the lead.

Announcements- Speed for Need get signed up!, Advisory meeting coming up at Cavendish Brewery. Come out and help lead!

Namerama-Welcome FNG Ten Minute

Prayer Request- Coach K and family, Other Families dealing with lose.

Moleskin:

YHC talked about the purpose of F3 and building male leadership. This starts in the workout group with taking on the Q and expands from there. When you build confidence as a leader at the workout you take that home with you to lead your family as God intended. Then from there you start to pour that out into your community(we are seeing some great examples of that all over F3). You may think that one person doing that cannot make an impact but we as a group do! The impact we have on others is the same starfish model as our workouts. Midoriyama was 3 guys working out for 7 months unofficially and today there was 18 in horrible heat. We can have that same impact on our community. We cannot afford too sit around and complain about things and not do something about them. Continue to build each other up men and let’s make an impact!

Humidity

6 PAX took the DRP at Folsom this morning for a humid start to the day. I feel like we didn’t really do that much but I can’t remember sweating so much before!

10 minute Burpee challenge-Do an amount each minute. 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8 =100 burpee. Later in the morning I was thinking about this and realized something was off. I noticed my timer still had a minute left when we finished. After some thought I realized we should have done 12 twice. So we really did a 9 minute 88 burpee challenge. Sorry for short changing you guys. I’ll do better next time. I learned to count at Midoriyama.

Captain Thor-1 sit-up/4 American Hammers up to 10/40. Ouch! Thanks to Bulldog for taking some of the count on these!

WILSON

12 PAX, 3 FNG’s and 1 Wilson in spirit took the DRP on Tuesday at Midoriyama. I was thinking of our brother Tooltime traveling north to the metropolis of Tonawanda and his nephew F3 Wilson came to mind. Wilson came down last summer and spent a little time getting to know the men of F3 Gastonia. I’m pretty sure he was like 11 or something but judging by the picture i saw today he seems to be aging in dog years so he is like 18 now! Anyway I thought a shout out to Wilson was due.

Be deligent and precise in your influence of our youth. Be a leader at home with your kids but also with any you come in contact with. It takes a village right! To you just a short interaction with a kid may happen without a thought but you never know what it may mean to them. They may not have that leader in their lives and that short interaction of attention they receive from you may mean the world. Go forth men and be that HIM!

Arms and Shoulders

With my recent change in work schedule I’ve been hitting some of the morning AO’s visiting guys I usually only see on Saturday. This week I hit up Folsom and it was worth it! 18 PAX showed to get fight strong at Midoriyama. Well 19 but 1 was there to mtn bike so we will count him as gears. There’s been some talk lately about fighting and not fighting. Moleskin:

Great job pushing the rock today by all. So glad to see Pockets out there! It was great to see some folks that normally just visit the gloom. Gastone made his first visit. Sargento brought the cheese family out. Come back in about 2 months when it really warms up out there. Slaw came prepared for nipple scrappers but he didn’t need it. While no fights occurred today we all got a little more prepared. Weather we realize it or not we fight everyday. We fight sin, we fight ourselves, we fight life! We all are presented with challenges and we have to be prepared for whatever is put before us. Obstacles are put in your way to see if what you want is really worth fighting for. So it’s up to you. As for me I’m going to keep fighting! If you need some help I’ll fight with you too.

Ultimate Foosball

18…..I said 18 posted at Midoriyama on Tuesday! This ties the record for the third time and the 2nd in the last 2 weeks. Apparently it will work in the afternoon! We are the people of the sun. Come on out and get some vitamin D. It was great to have our resident mumble chatterer Tooltime back out. Sparky brought out the 2.0’s Madden and the newly named Aflac( he did not like this name but like most had to learn the hard way. You don’t tell us that!). Floppy Disk was there with his release form from the dentist.

Warmup:

Don Q’s x 10ic

Squats x 10ic

Seal Jacks x 10ic

The Thang:

Mosey to the stairs. 2 at a time hit the stairs and do 10 calf raises on each step. I believe there are 13 steps. All other Pax plank and wait your turn at the bottom. Once complete wall sit at the top waiting on the six.

Mosey to the parking lot. Bearcrawl to the opposite curb and do 10 merkins. Cross the island and crabwalk to the opposite curb and do 10 WWI’s. Do this again but backwards.

Mosey to the hill at the soccer field. 11’s on the hill. Start with 1 Bobby Hurley at the bottom and 10 diamond merkins at the top.

Pizza Man brought us another tire so we had a relay race. Split into 2 groups. Each Pax flips the tire then runs to the back of the line. We raced across the field and back.

With about 15 minutes left we stayed teamed up and played some ultimate football on one half of the soccer field. Just like ult. frisbee but we used a soft multicolored football. When you have a daughter that’s what the football looks like. I guess I was lucky to have one at all.

Mosey back to the flag.
