10,10,9,9,8,8…

6 PAX came to Midoriyama  on one of the rare evenings where it is colder at Midoriyama in the afternoon than it was at the morning workouts. Its cold so lets get warmed up.

Warmup:

SSH x 15 IC

Hillbillies x 15 IC

Merkins  x 15 IC

Still cold so lets get moving.

The Thang:

Start with a mosey to the track and took the long way around the track to a good flat spot. Explain to the men that all exercises will be the same amount of reps. 2 exercises at each station, 10,10, 9, 9, 8, 8… to 1,1. We should get the worst over with first. Burpies and LBCs. Forgot about being cold after that one. Next mosey back around the track and over to the bleachers at the soccer field. Incline and decline merkins. Mosey to the playground for pullups and WW1s. A little bit of time left so mosey back to the bleachers where we started for dips and Bobby Hurleys. Very short mosey to the flag for the Pledge and 22 merkins for the Veterans. Strong work out of all.

Circle up for announcements and COT.

It was an honor to lead and I look forward to next time

Bricks around Belmont

7 men came to the Yank in Belmont Saturday morning to make themselves better. No FNG’s so a very short disclaimer, ” I’m an idiot, you probably shouldn’t follow me.” We have a lot of ground to cover so we should get started.

Warmup:

Burpiesx10 (in honor of the train that passed before we began)

SSHx20 IC

Don Quixotex20 IC

Hillbilliesx20 IC

Imperial walkersx20 IC

The Thang:

Each man will grab 2 bricks apiece and lets mosey.

Up the hill, first stop Nellies Restaurant. 20 CDDs, 1 minute of military presses with our bricks and 20 more CDDs. Lets mosey.

Next stop Taste Buds Popcorn parking lot. 20 werkins, 1 minute of flys with our bricks and 20 more werkins. Lets mosey

Up the hill to the intersection of Main St and Central. 20 MNCs, 1 minute of straight arm raises with the bricks and 20 more MNCs. Lets mosey.

Down the hill to the funeral home (these bricks are starting to get heavy). 20 military merkins, 1 minute of tricep extensions with the bricks and 20 more military merkins. Lets mosey.

Next stop is the library for 20 merkins, 1 minute of curls with the bricks and 20 more merkins. Lets mosey.

To the flag in front of the middle school for the Pledge. Then over to the benches for something different. 20 each of the following: dips, flutter kicks, squats, merkins. Followed by a lap around the front of the school with our bricks. Rinse and repeat x 2.

Almost out of time so we headed back to the park for a few minutes of Mary… TIME.

I think we covered around 2.5 miles with our bricks but my arms and shoulders thought it was more.

Announcements: CSAUP

Prayer requests: Each other, our country

It was an honor to lead. I look forward to next time

BOMBS and Bricks

11 PAX and my 2.0 came for a workout in absolutely beautiful weather. Sunny and 70 degrees. I was concerned to hear before the workout that at least half of the men there had some sort of injury that would prevent them from doing one exercise or the other. I even heard the term “merkin elbow” used. I assured everyone there would be no running, no merkins, and no squats, well maybe just a few.

Warmup:

SSH x 15IC

Don Quixote x 15IC

Imperial Walkers x 15IC

Merkins x 5IC

LBC’s x 5IC

Squats x 5IC

Lets mosey,

Slow jog to the soccer field where we will do BOMBS.

Partner up, 1 man runs to the other side of the soccer field while the other exercises, counted in aggregate.

B  Burpies x50

O  Overhead claps x 100

M  Merkins x150

B   Bigboy situps x200

S  Squats x250

Mosey back to the flags, the regular shovel flag as well as the ghost flag, for the Pledge.

Everyone grab 2 bricks from the back of the Jeep and lets mosey to the back of the parking lot.

9 parking spaces, each with a exercise written in chalk in it.

CDD x20, brick shoulder press (1 minute), werkins x 20, brick flys (1 minute), MNC’s x 20, brick straight arm raises (1 minute), military merkins x 20, brick triceps (1 minute), merkins x 20, brick curls (1 minute)

Times up.

Somehow we managed to run 2 miles throughout the workout as well.

Announcements: CSAUP, Nomads meeting at 5:30 at the mall

Prayer requests: Floppy Disk’s wife, hurricane victims

It was an honor to lead, I look forward to next time

Squats instead of merkins

13 PAX, along with the Ghost Flag, came to the Fighting Yank early on a Saturday morning, only to find their Q unable to lift his arm above his head. Due to a football injury earlier in the week (throwing a football with my 2.0 in a pool), YHC’s right arm isn’t working very well. Have no fear, what was once a well rounded full body workout is now a core and leg workout. Anything that was once arms and upper body has been changed to squats and flutter kicks. No FNG”s, so only a short disclaimer.

The workout went as follows:

Warm up:

Squats x10 IC, Don Quixote x10 IC, LBC x10 IC, Hillbillies x10 IC

The Thang:

Mosey around the block to the front of the Middle School, nice place for dips but we won’t need them today. Wheezy Jefferson x10 IC, Flutter kicks x10 IC, Squats x10 IC, Lap around the front of the school. Rinse and repeat x3. Mosey to the flag for the pledge. Mosey to steps at the soccer field for calf raises x10 each step,  Bobby Hurley x10, for 3 rounds. Next is 1 lap around the track with 4 lunges and 1 squat stopping at each quarter for exercise. 1st quarter=20 LBC’s, 2nd quarter=20 WW1’s, 3rd quarter=20 Flutter kicks, 4th quarter=20 American hammers. Stopped somewhere in the middle for 5 burpies in honor of a passing train. Running out of time so lets mosey down the hill and set the timer for 5 minutes. Partner up, 1st partner runs backward up the hill, forwards down, while partner 2 planks, switch off. Stumbled back to the nest for announcements and COT.

Prayer requests: T Square and his family, kids back to school and beginning of school sports.

It was an honor to lead and I look forward to the next time.
