A dozen HIM came out to witness history this morning not by simply running to Marthas and back but to watch the rare changing of the guard at the Pub. It is with great delight and honor that I am able to assume the role of site Q from JJ at Gastonia’s premiere running AO. JJ has served as site Q for over 2 years (ever since Monk left) and has grown the AO. He has led us in the rain, the snow and the swampy humidity of summer. He has beaten back challenges from the purse carrying ruckers and served the AO with honor and dignity. My only hope is to not screw it up. SYITG

Hot muggy, run to Martha’s and back. I think.
A good crowd this morning came to the PUB to get their 1st and 2nd F going. I spent some time researching a new, unique route but couldn’t keep the mileage to 5 miles so I was going to go with two routes and let our 1st F Q choose. Broke correctly chose the safer route and we ended up taking GDSR, left on E. Perry, right on Lee, left on New Hope, right on Armstrong Park, right on Armstrong Park again and back to the Pub. I knew Udders was posting this morning as he always lets us know if he is in town. He came in late so we said the pledge, got in starting position, and exercised.
I realized in the first 100 yds I forgot to do any type of introduction or disclaimer so I yelled out to the PAX they were on their own. Shortly thereafter I announced that your grievances were not welcome here. I believe Sargento was complaining about something to do with the route but I can’t remember.
However, Sargento deserves a shout out for rucking some home grown tomatoes to my casa yesterday. I ate a bacon mater sandwich for breakfast today and it was wonderful.
We spoke a little about learning something new each day and I learned a little more about Waterboy this morning and his love of classic cars. Be on the lookout for an emergency brake powerslide when he drives in hot to an AO near you.
Oompa showed off his new scar from his tumble yesterday at Martha’s House. Turtleman wasn’t there.

Eleven PAX posted on a humid but otherwise great morning.
We said the pledge.
We ran everyone’s favorite route that always elicits groans when announced.
Out on Gaston Day which turns into Armstrong Park Rd, left onto Armstrong Park Dr, left onto New Hope Rd, right onto Lee St, left onto Perry St, right back onto Armstrong Park Rd, and then back to The Pub.

Last weeks great accomplishment of finishing the full run to Snoballs under 45 minutes and several other notables during that run made me plan on today’s Q running an old route that I’ve never completed …. down to Lee …. uh Perry then Lee ( bad when a heart doctor has to correctly navigate for the mailman) over to New Hope and then Armstrong Drive to Armstrong Road and back home! Most of today’s crew would attempt the full run as well with Dr. Seuss Leading our newest pax member water boy off on a snipe hunt around Parkwood ( they zigged left instead of zagging right) at Garrison and Armstrong . Before starting breaker breaker asked if I was gonna be running sub seven today to which I just playfully laughed and said I don’t think I can achieve that much but I’ll certainly be shooting for sub nine!! Thanks to a cool refreshing Iced T being present, we were able to briefly achieve sub eight and then remained approximately 815 820 up until halfway through the course and Iced T burst a little bit ahead of me on a flat straightaway! After the course was done he said he really enjoyed all of the elevation changes he certainly help me to sweat a little more today than normal. Breaker breaker said he made it just passed the cemetery and headed back Oompa Loompa went as far as 2 miles and then headed back making him at four in the completion. All in all solid performance by all!

todays word comes from the book of James
”Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
today’s big Takeaway is that it was amazing to accomplish a goal that I had set a while back including last weeks goal… Unfortunately with Covid myself as well as many others have not advanced much performing or achieving goals and maybe that something we should work towards.
YHC was thankful to be able to mosey with some of the fine PAX of F3 Gastonia this morning. We got in 5miles going to Martha’s and back. Something special about this region….we all pushed…we all got better…and we we were all thankful for our freedom and ability to be at The Pub. Now is the time that F3 Pax should shine their light. We have been training for times like these men. Our Faith, Our Families , Our Brothers, Our Country need us now men. Help someone today and the next and next…Ect….Male Community Leadership! Let’s do this! Let’s impact for good! Let’s be Virtuous Leaders!
“Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.”

In case you haven’t been paying attention lately, there is a lot going on in the world. YHC has been involved with a project with work that has added to the stress. Posting in the gloom has been an escape, even if only briefly, from the chaos in the world.
After what had seemed like an already long week, YHC showed up at The Pub on an otherwise wonderful Thursday morning to find several PAX already gathered with a couple more yet to arrive. With six of us ready to go, we said the pledge, and YHC called out the route for the mosey. As the route was laid out to Martha’s and back, YHC could tell that the proper energy from the Q was lacking. It seemed to be an attitude of we “have to run to Martha’s and back.” YHC caught himself and said for anyone still close enough to hear that we “get to run to Martha’s and back.” In my mind it was only one word, but it made a world of difference. Nobody was forcing us to do this. As we ran, YHC thought about the blessing we had to be out there running. Not running from danger, but running to make ourselves better. Running because our brothers were out there, and we didn’t want them to be out there alone. Sometimes it takes a 0530 mosey to help get your mind in the right space.
We all ran. We all pushed the rock. In some way, we all got better.

In the days since the Mosey to Martha’s, one of my daily devotions was from Hebrews 12. Verse 1 talks of running with perseverance so it seems appropriate to include that in a BB from a running AO.
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
If you are reading this and going through a struggle right now, don’t give up. As these verses say, fix your eyes on Jesus. No matter how bleak the circumstance, don’t grow weary and don’t lose heart. You’ve got a God that loves you and a group of brothers that are there for you at any moment.
Until next time…
