GasHouse/PainLab Switchero

YHC and Linus had been trying to come up with ways to keep GasHouse and PainLab new and interesting. One such idea was happened today…

All the “hype” was the site Q’s were taking today – you know plain vanilla stuff. Instead, YHC and Linus decided to switch Q’s unannounced to the PAX until execution. Linus did the disclaimer (since there was an FNG), pledge and the warmup, but then announced “He didn’t feel like running today” and asked YHC to take them running. And off we took. Apparently, there was a bit of confusion as some the PainLabbers initially took off too, but that was quickly rectified. 8 PAX joined YHC as we headed to Grier Parking Lot.

Udders was asked for an exercise – Burpees (and this was after a warning to choose wisely).
So it was rotating bear crawls across the parking lot, 15 Burpees, lunge back.

Outhouse – same question…. Imperial Walkers.
Rotating bear crawls across the parking lot, 15 IWs, lunge back.

Wolverine – CDDs
Rotating bear crawls across the parking lot, 15 CDDs, lunge back.

During the above, YHC inquired if the PAX knew what today was. Once we got past the obvious, they hit upon the answer – the start of college football. Next question, how many teams in the ACC. Udders was ready for that one… 15, but only 14 for football. The significance of that will be seen shortly.

All of sudden, there was TopHat. He claimed to still be stretching for his late arrival, bringing the total to 10 at GasHouse.

We continued on to Burtonwood and then down to the stairs behind FPC.

Next was to partner up and do 150 each of the following exercises to spell out YHC favorite team:

CDD
LBC
Elbow to Knee (75 Each Side)
Merkin/Morrocan Night Club (75 Each)
Squat
Outlaw (modified to 140)
Nolan Ryan (75 Each Side)

There was some chatter about UNC, NC State, and where was the “P” in Clemson, blah, blah, blah. Let’s get to work.

Once everyone was done, did a quick count off. Still had 10 PAX, no one had been lost.

Repeated the count off, amazingly it still came to 10, so time to mosey to the Grier track.

15 Squats
Mosey 1/2 Lap
15 Dirty Dogs each leg.
Mosey to start.

Dirt and TopHat got to choose the next round…
So a repeat with 15 Diamond Merkins at the start and 15 Imperial Walkers at the 1/2 point.

Now it was time to head to the wall…
Assume the People’s Chair the first PAX would do 15 Overhead Claps, when he was done the second, on down until all had PAX had done them. If you were not doing the claps, do air presses.

Up the stairs and out to the entrance to Grier. Line up and do 15 Monkey Humpers with your back to the street.

Somewhere in here, Udders asked if we would get the other 0.3 miles in.

Not wanting to disappoint, mosey back to Burtonwood and then back to the Schiele.

Still had a few minutes left, so a little Mary…
Hayzus – Merkins IC
Dirt – Freddie Mercury and Mercury Freddie IC
Defib – Mountain Climbers IC

Thankfully the bells of freedom rang.

Linus lead us the rest of the way…

It was an honor to lead GasHouse. Everyone pushed hard and I appreciate it

Great to see PAX from other regions pushing the rock when out of town.

Ghost VQ

As YHC arrived, he found Whoopee off doing a little EC. Before YHC could get his ruck out and any stretching in, Whoopee appeared out of the gloom, followed by Dry Rub and Voodoo rolling in. Whoopee relayed he had to go in to work early, so he could not stay around for HoneyDo’s VQ. He said HIPAA offered to cover, but since there was no HIPAA, would YHC assist HoneyDo. In the meantime, Hush Puppy rolled in. Still no HoneyDo, but he normally cuts it close….surely he wouldn’t fartsack his VQ!

0530 hits, Whoopee rolls out and no HoneyDo!

YHC steps in and we head towards Union stopping at the bank to do the pledge. Taking a left on Union we ruck, stopping at the vet’s office to do 5 merkins and 5 squats. Continuing down Union turning on Huntsman to do another set of merkins and squats at the dentist office. Knowing Dry Rub needed to leave early, we had back via Rivermont and Valleywood stopping at the vet again for another round.
We drop Dry Rub off and continue down Riverwood, stopping at the old doctor office for another set. We turn around at River Ridge and get back to start with some time.
So we did some upright rows, LBCs, merkins, and squats. To finish up, Hush Puppy lead various forms of baby makers.

There are lots of announcements, although they are no listed here.

Voodoo took us out.

Embrace the Suck

YHC had decided to try the stairs behind Robinson Elementary again whenever he Q’d the Sammich. As luck would have it Whoopee was looking for a Q for today. (This was while Gastone was leading us to the same location for a beat down yesterday. c’est la vie)

4 were there when it was time, a few short with Dry Rub out and Whoopee “on call”, but we continue on.

No FNGs
No Disclaimer

A quick ruck to the bank for the pledge and we were off down Riverwood Pkwy.

As we approached Gastone’s hill the PAX was queried “before or after?” Not much was said, so YHC inquired again. This time DaVinci spoke up and said let’s get over with.

A quick trip up and back and we continued up Riverwood.
Frogger across Union and on behind Robinson Elementary to the stairs.

Elevens were done here with merkins at the top and squats at the bottom.

We then made our way back via Hawks Nest and Robinwood.

Time!

The announcements were summarized as this is a busy time coming up.

Prayer Requests
Dry Rub’s M for recovery
All those traveling.
Each Other.

YHC took us out.

It’s great to see DaVinci being a regular at the Sammich.

Until next time.

Rescued

All “Pre” Workout activities were covered by Freight @ GasHouse.

YHC was off to bootcamp with Freight as no PainLabbers were present, but was spared this beating when Cheese Head and Sweet Leaf came in hot.

Taking a page from Sister Act’s queue earlier this week, we did a modified form of the Iron PAX Challenge.

50 Squats
40 LBCs
30 Merkins
20 Calf Raises
Lunge Walk 5 Parking Spaces and Back
Colt 45s
15 Tricep Presses
Side Lunge 5 Parking Spaces and Back

Repeat

Then YHC decided to switch it up bit.
50 LBCs
40 Squats
30 Calf Raises
20 Merkins
High Knee 5 Parking Spaces and Back.
Colt 45s
15 Tricep Presses
Side Lunge 5 Parking Spaces and Back

It was 5 till at this point and figured GasHouse would be rolling in at any moment.

We filled in the time with 15 Oblique Crunches each side while we waited.

Time!

Freight and GasHouse took us out…

The transformation in my physical self with the 1st F, has been amazing.

Black Ball

Turtleman said he wasn’t going to be available today… something about taking time off, or a vacation or some sort of nonsense that didn’t involve posting this morning. Anyhow, at the time only Gastone and YHC offered to Q. While YHC came ready, the PAX was offered the opportunity to switch, but there weren’t enough takers to make the change, so here we go.

Standard Shortened Disclaimer.

Warm-Up:
A little Tabata to get things going…15 seconds of work with 7 seconds of rest…
SSH
Merkin
SSH
Squats
SSH
Plank Jacks
SSH

Pledge.

The Thang:
Through all of this, there was a black ball sitting in the middle of the circle. All had eyed it and some had even guessed it to be a bowling ball. YHC picked up the #10 ball and tossed it to a surprised pax and we moseyed to Robinwood Crossing Shopping Center, stopping near the cleaners at the first row of parking spots

The ball was passed to Island with instructions to place on one of the parking lot lines, no closer than 3 away. Island ran off and although he had a good bit of advice in which line to choose, ultimately placed the token 5 away.

Run to the line with the token – 10 Merkins.
Karaoke to the other end of the line – 20 Squats.
Nur to the starting line – 30 Plank Jacks.
Karaoke to the other end of the line – 5 Flying Squirrels.
Repeat for a total of 3 rounds.

Since Gastone was first to complete, he was sent to retrieve the token while the pax formed a tightish circle. Upon his return, assume the people’s chair position and pass (aka toss aka throw) the token to a fellow pax.Gastone was the first to drop the token and was assessed a 10 burpee penalty, followed by Rainbow Ranger and YHC. To end the fun, all were assigned 10 burpees.

After Spiderman’s version of a 10 count, YHC called a token Indian Run: Person with the token runs to the front. The token is passed back to the last man… you get the idea.

This sounded good on paper.
After one lap around the buildings… Ok, not such a good idea.
After a lap around the parking lot…. This may have been a bad idea.
After another lap around the buildings… This was a really crappy idea, who thinks of this stuff?

We ended up at the wall of the old grocery store.

I am sure, all thought wall sits were coming next, but YHC instead asked Whoopee to lead in some Hip Slappers, while his favorite, the rest of the pax may not have the same opinion. After some amount, maybe 10 IC, it was time for wall sitting, while passing the token back and forth. After the token traversed 3x, time to recover. But due to the token being dropped 3x, a 5 burpee penalty was called.

Next YHC asked Gastone to lead in 20 flutters IC, but when he started out slower than molasses in winter in Minnesota, Easy Rider thankfully took up cadence.

Time for another round of wall sits. The token was not dropped during this round, so a 5 burpee reward was called, followed by another round of Whoopee Hip Slappers.

Another trip around the buildings and back to start.

There was a bit time left, so Mary made an appearance.
Island – LBCs
Pedal – American Hammers
Whoopee – Burpees
Easy Rider – Dying Cockroaches

Time!

Yippiee Yi Yo Kayah

We had a little shoot out at the OK Corral to start off.

We worked the Upper Body:
25 – Side Straddle Hops
15 – Merkins
20 – American Hammers
25 – Arm Circles
25 – Arm Claps
25 – Moroccan Night Clubs
25 – Arm Circles

Next up we had lower body warm-up
25 – Squats
25 – Side Straddle Hops
20 – Merkins
20 – Sledge Crunches
Lunges from curb across parking lot to light pole and back
15 – Heel Raises
15 – Merkins Slaps

Next up was the Rodeo
We had a 11 Stations for each Pax to work on varying weights for 3 to 4 minutes.
1.) Cattle Bell Swing
2.) Chest Press
3.) Cowboy Man Makers
4.) Curls
5.) Squats
6.) Tricep

All and all it was my first time Q-ing and I hope I was able to give these men a workout that will cause them to get stronger. I heard the jokes how can Side Straddle Hops be for your upper and lower body, (LOL). it’s bcz they work out mussels in both upper and lower body.
I look forward to my next Q and will be much more timely on my backblast.

Electric Elevens are Born

Monk had the GasHouse Q and started the day off. Once warm-up was completed, he lead GasHouse off to do whatever they do.

YHC did not have a great deal of time to prepare because of three days of work with beach excursions on either side. That being the case, I tried to do something challenging, but simple.

After the GasHouse departure, the remaining PAX inquired as to the need of weights. All were instructed to bring what they had (#30 Kettle bell, #53 Kettle bell, and a Ruck Pack were accumulated). Unlike many Painlabs, this one started with a march to the Grier Parking Lot

Once all were assembled, an exercise that from this point forward will be known as Electric Eleven’s was called.
Standard Eleven format with
Mountain Climbers on one side of the parking lot and deconstructed burpees (squat, merkin, kickout equal one deconstructed burpee) on the other. Too add to the fun, bear crawl between the exercises.

Once these were finished, Hush Puppy claimed he need to lock his car, and headed back to Schiele’s. During his absence, an exercise learned while working with F3-GrandStrand was called.
On your six with your feet at 6 inches. Then, when instructed, wag you feet (still together) back and forth shoulder width. Then, when instructed, wag your feet (still together), wider yet. We repeated this with your feet all the way up. Then again at 6 inches. Immediately upon resting your feet, perform 20 American Hammers.

About the time the American Hammers were completed, Hush Puppy reappeared.

YHC then instructed everyone to partner up for some Dora 1-2-3, omaha’d to Dora 1-1-1.
100 Big Boy Situps.
100 Pullovers. One group modified this to merkins due to weight considerations.
100 Chest Presses. One group modified this to overhead press due to just completing merkins.

Since Hush Puppy had missed the ab exercises during his trip back to Schiele’s, YHC wanted to make sure he didn’t feel left out, so the ab exercises were repeated.

Time was getting short, so the march back to Schiele’s was completed.

Along the way YHC sought guidance from Rudolph on the original format of PainLab. Beside some Q fails, around additional disclaimers, etc., he indicated he made sure to include some Yoga/stretching at the end for cool down. Since that was the phase we were headed for, to he graciously agreed to lead the next few minutes.

A few poses in, Short Sale came rolling in and joined in, followed soon thereafter by the remaining GasHouse crew.

Time!

The remainder of task were covered under Monk’s leadership.

As always, thanks to all for the opportunity to lead.
