VQ @ the Pub

I challenged myself to try some new AOs so I answered the call from Defib to become a “Newbie” Bartender at the Pub!  I arrived a little early and found Dirt preparing for a little EC.  Shortly afterwards the remaining PAX starting  rolling in for chilly run.  JJ arrived on foot prepared I believe for the snow apocalypse!  With a little help from the regulars, I determined the final route for the morning and off we went.

The Most Unsafe Workout Ever!!!

Needed to swap Qs for my Thursday night Midoriyama so YHC was thankful for Sargento’s schedule flexibility.  But apparently that’s debatable  among the remaining 9 PAX!  The Sky Q gave us a glorious day so 5:30… time to get to werk.

Warmup:  We started out easy with 10 each IC of SSHs / Don Qs / Hillbillies / and a new favorite thanks to Clavin – Skywalkers!  They look just like they sound however, I would agree it resembled an 80s Jane Fonda yoga video there for a minute… but I digress.  Finished up w/ 5 Burpees OYO.

The Thang:  We mosied over to the new super secret hiding place for blocks behind the horseshoe pits (shhhhhh) and formed a human bucket (block) brigade til all had a coupon.  We then shouldered them over to the big hill behind the adjacent baseball field.  It was there YHC called for rifle carries down the hill and murder bunnies up (I know Broke’s hating he missed this one)!  I was a little ambitious with 10 so I Ohmaha’d at 5, besides I knew we’d need a little more time for our mosey to the soccer field.  Shouldered the blocks back to the hiding place but left them out in hopes of returning b4 6:15.   Next we mosied by the pump track for a short round of 25 dips & vertical shoulder taps on the picnic benches at the covered shelter.  We then took off down the bike trail to a new cut powerline road paved with some rather large rocks and you would have thought I gave everyone a box of knives and asked them to go play in the street!  Not a lot “trail” runners in this bunch apparently.  I was accused of being a not-so-safe Safety Man and probably some other things I just didn’t hear as we mosied to the lower soccer field.  We paired up, split to opposite ends of the field, and did 11s (LBC / Booyah Merkins at midfield).  We mosied back to hide the blocks then finished up at the flag right on time!

COT:  Convergence Downtown 10/2/21 @ 07:00 (1,2, & 3rd F) / IPC will be conducted @ convergence & likely Thursday @ Midoriyama / Bourbon Chase coming up still need a driver/ Service Items: peel top applesauce (get to Broke) / Little Sweet may need a convertible for Homecoming parade, prom, ?

Prayer Requests:  Big Pappy & Family / Huckleberry’s Mom / Fort Mill PAX down in Beaufort was killed walking his dog (dog killed too) / PAX on recovery

It was a pleasure and honor to lead you men!  Excuse me while I kiss the sky!  PH

Duck Duck “Splash”!

The day had finally dawned… the final edition of F3 Dad’s 2021!  Ball Joint & myself arrived early at Folsom to find the regular crowd being led by Ozark in what I heard turned out to be a pretty good beatdown.  We gathered 3 buckets (the # is significant later on), a cooler, some cups, & rope & headed across the soccer field to set up the day’s activities.  Ball Joint stopped at the first camping hose bib to fill 1 of the 3 buckets w/ water as I split w/ my cooler to another near the exercise pavilion.  As I filled my cooler I noticed quickly that this water rivaled the lovely turd-brown hue of the South Fork on any given day following a heavy rain so I dumped & repeated… repeated… repeated… ok, so I finally gave up walked backed to Ball Joint & used that connection!  For future reference if you ever decide to camp for Cotton Ginning Days steer clear the parking lot near the exercise pavilion.  We set up at one end of the parking lot w/ cups, rope, & a full bucket of water, the other w/ 2 empty buckets.  This exercise was going to be a version of the classic water haul race from one end to the other to fill your team’s bucket however, with a slight variation, a quick round of jump rope in the middle!  Almost 7am so back to the start w/ my cooler & a few more larger cups for the grand finale:  Duck, Duck, Splash!

Go Time… started w/ a welcome, mission of F3, & 5 core principles for 26 PAX/2.0s.  Moved into a  Westside approved warmup consisting of SSH, Gravelpickers, Merkins, DonQs, & probably something else I’m forgetting.  Next, we did a family “Native American” (did you catch the PCness there)  run up to the little triangle & back to the big triangle.  We did a kid-sized Dora 1,2,3 (30, 60, 90) of Merkins, LBCs, & Air Presses (which btw get very heavy even though it’s just air!) around the big triangle.  We then nured, karaoked, & skip mosied to the tennis courts for a quick round of Red Light / Green Light with Bear Crawls (Merkins if you don’t stop) across one court & then back with Crab Walks (Big Boys if you failed to stop again) back to the line.  I will say, I think Ball Joint was likely a playground force to be reckoned with in his elementary days!  Next was a slow mosey to the exercise pavilion parking lot.  It is then we discover that 3 buckets were now 1!  Yes, leave it to the Dallas local yocals to steal 2 of our buckets!!!  Oh well, we just skipped the “fill the bucket” part & just let the kids & some pretty talented dad’s slosh water all over themselves jumping rope.  Finally, we mosied back to the soccer field & gathered in a big circle round the water cooler for a slight twist to the classic Duck, Duck, Goose (Splash).  Great fun was had by all as they doused a large cup of water on the unsuspecting head of someone gathered in the circle then raced back to their slot.  Back to the parking lot for the pledge & Ball Joint prayed us out.

It was truly a pleasure to co-lead such a fun event!  Til next year…

Excuse me while I kiss the sky!

Gettin the Rocks Off!

It was a day you just don’t get to experience often in August… 77 degrees & overcast!  6 PAX showed & were ready to go.  Here’s what we did:

Warmup:  SSH / Abe Vigoda / Left Over Rights (patented) / LBC (all IC)

The Thang:  We mosied to the Lakeside Turd Shak for a quick round of Dirty Hookups IC.  Then split into 2 teams and lined up along the lake access road.  From there we stopped at each pile of rocks along the drainage ditch for 25 of the noted exercise that YHC placed prior to today’s workout.  Each exercise was completed utilizing one or more rocks from the pile (your call on how heavy or light… Really Slaw!).   Squat-to-Overhead Press / Bent Over Row / WWI / Tricep Extensions / Pinch Grip Moroccan Nightclubs… again, really Slaw! / Crossover Rock Merkins / Rock Slams.  We then finished up with a true Bear Crawl through the remaining rock-lined drainage ditch.  Next we moved to the shelter for 25 more Step-ups and Dips.  Finally, we mosied down to the lake and back up the zig-zag to the top for a short horizontal handrail crawl.  We assembled on the v-ball court keeping our teams for a “sandy-V… I mean shoe-filled game of volleyball.  We mosied back to the parking lot for the pledge and COT.  YHC prayed us out.

Crossroads Pool Crashers

I rolled in a little early this morning followed close behind by Gold Digger.  He launched about 5:45 on a solo around D-town.  PAX started to arrive shortly thereafter and it was only when Gumby rounded the corner of his truck sporting a bike helmet that I remembered that I had left mine again.  I returned to the house to pick up said forgotten helmet then met back up w/ Gumby for a great fellowship ride.  At one point during the ride we found ourselves in Tron’s driveway & recalling the fact that he had security cameras we couldn’t resist the opportunity to ride up to the house & around the backyard swimming pool just hoping that since he didn’t escape the fartsack that a little notification from Ring would wake his sorry self up.  Fortunately, we were fast enough that despite the basketball goal obstacle & the tremendous urge to jump in to cool off we escaped prior to any guns being drawn!  We returned to the parking lot to find the running PAX making their final approach.  A quick round of announcements, the pledge, and COT and YHC prayed us out.  It was on inside for a little Shared Competence for Q-Source.

Announcements:

  • Green River tubing (prolly auta call Broke) (8/7)

Jacked Up Leg 5K / Crossroads

YHC rolled into the parking lot prepared for a little solo bike ride, or so I thought… dang it, forgot the helmet again!  Following the ridicule I received from Mayor the last time and the fact that I am a “Safety Guy” I decided to sit and read up on the day’s QSource Qpoint (Correction) when a few minutes later in rolled Broke.  I decided to join him for an 80% 5K as a warm up for the Jacked Up Leg 5K later.  As we rolled back into Ingles the lot was busy with HIMs.  11 in all showed for the fundraiser 5K.

Broke quickly decided to complete his 100% with a blistering 7:05 out the gate but Balljoint would have nothing of the sort so round about the college entrance he decided he had carried YHC long enough and set his sites on the lead HIM.  Within short order, a homicide was committed before my very eyes as Balljoint implemented an excellent kill shot… but of course by this time I was far enough back I probably would not be considered a creditable witness in a court of law!  As the battle raged, I came across several other PAX puttin the work in.  Gave a shout out to Termite as I didn’t realize he was back from his western sabbatical.  All said and done, Balljoint was awarded the prestigious “Jacked Up Leg” along with a couple of new PRs for himself and others.  Some heavy rock pushin was done today… nice work men!  Now inside for the QSource.

Pledge / COT

Announcements:  Last week for nail clippers & chapstick / F3 Dads @ Gashouse 7-21 / Lost audio after that for some reason???

Prayer Requests: Turtleman / Sister Act / Big Pappy / Traveling PAX / Others

Lightin the FUSE!

The day b4 my Q I noticed that the newly repaved West Main Avenue was open for traffic again so I thought this might be a great opportunity to explore the new FUSE District.  12 PAX showed for what was supposed to be a wet Friday morning but the Lord was good to us and moved the rain out just in time!  5:30 time to go to work…

Warm-up:  SSH / Gravel Pickers / (The Patented) Left over Rights & Right over Lefts / Moroccan Nightclubs / Step-ups (All IC)

The Thang:  We moseyed around the corner for some marching wall sits then lined up at the intersection of W Main / S Chester.  From there it was 1 Calf Raise / 1 Squat / 1 Merkin / 1 LBC at each of the new street lights headed to the ballpark.  Once at the FUSE we moseyed around the field to the front corner, found a sport statue & it was 25 Merkins & Dips OYO.  Another mosey to the upper corner & did Ring of Fire with Flutters and Bear Crawls.  Moseyed back to W Main for the return trip… Rinse & Repeat.  Back at the parking lot it was a short round of Dora w/ American Hammers / Lunges.  Then we finished up with some Mary.

Pledge / COT – And since I’m so late in writing this BB the announcements are no longer valid 🙁

Name-O-Rama found Pizza Man running up for a “provisional” entry following his run!

Prayers are always current though:  Turtleman’s treatment / scan, Sister Act, Big Pappy, Uranus’ wife, JK2’s oldest daughter, EZ’s wife

Climbing the Mountain

Sorry this took me so long for the back blast but a big ole bunch of HIMs put it in Granny Gear and climbed Spencer Mountain at Midoriyama today.  I on the other hand apparently did not since I failed to charge my watch and captured none of the workout… good thing I had this picture!  Went like this…

The warmup / climb to the top / big round of Mary / then back down / pledge / COT

Thanks for the opportunity to lead guys, maybe next time I can write the BB soon enough that I remember what all we did!

Small Crowd for Crossroads

I rolled (literally, on my bike) into the parking lot this morning apparently unaware of the memo advising that not many HIMS planned to show this morning for Crossroads… must’ve been the Qs reputation!  Saw one truck I recognized (sorry Termite didn’t know you had gotten a camper shell, we need hook you up with Allen Tate for some extra F3 stickers) and Broke was out gettin some EC.  A few HIMS started to filter in and at 6:30 we launched.  We all reconvened back in the parking lot (congrats to Wirenut for finishing his 1st 5-miler) for announcements and COT then headed inside for QSource on Live Right.
