Celebration Qs

Just before we celebrated a great Extinction Run we celebrated at The Yank. Jane Fonda was getting married that evening and I turned 39. We also had a PAX in town from Atlanta. You should’ve been there.

Pledge of Allegiance

Jane Fonda warned us up for about 13 minutes then put in about 2-3 minutes of hard work. I messed up my addition of 3+9 and it all went down hill from there.

Rain and mammon

A cool and sort of rainy morning at Members Only. Us runners at 0630 didn’t have any rain but it was coming in 0715 when we were finishing COT. Not sure what is was like for the fast long runners at 0545 or ruckers at 0615. Winter is here for two days at least.

Great crowd, thanks again men.

We had a great discussion on our work as men and how it fits into our lives. I always learn a lot Sunday mornings.

Running from the police

We went from a lot happening on 4/20 to almost nothing in Belmont. This was the original date for the extinction run but there was a 5k scheduled for Belmont so it was moved. We thought the roads would be blocked so BOS warned us but they were opened all the way until 0800 just before the 5k was to start. The roads seemed to be open by the park just after the last person came trotting by for the 5k. All of the hustle and bustle for no reason it seemed like.

Growing up I originally thought the 420 was a police code for the devil’s lettuce but I learned later it life that it wasn’t. I took the police code theory and ran with it, literally, we almost had 3 miles running around Belmont on this clear cool morning. Here’s what I remembered.

Mosey to shelter for warmup:
Stretches, sort of
Seal jacks x11 IC
toy soldiers x11 IC
overhead press x11 IC
gravel pickers x11 IC

Mosey to track to use the field
1st police code – 314 Indecent Exposure. 11s of Hello Dolly’s and monkey humpers, run the width of the field.

Mosey the long way to the bunker, thanks to Rebar 🙂
2nd police code – 10-72 prisoner in custody. Triple nickel of HR merkins and overhead press

Mosey to Main St. for route 66 of CDD’s
3rd and final police code – 10-43 in pursuit.

We ended at Nelly’s and saw Hunckajunk blocking a road. We asked for an escort through the closed roads at 0800, he said good luck with that.

Fellowship mosey to the office parking lot for DORA. Find a partner. 100 LBCs, 200 Flutters and 300 MNC.

Mosey back to start for Iron Hulk and 4 minutes of Mary. We tried the mary in the “closed” street but it was in fact not closed, 4 minutes before 5k start too. Oh well. Time!

Maybe I should’ve gone to Q school

I haven’t Q’d in a while and it showed. I showed up a few minutes early but got caught by a train. Jane Fonda and I were on the wrong side but we got to catch up. Made it across just in time and didn’t have to call burpees. I forgot the pledge all together, sorry men. Little to no disclaimer hope I don’t get sued. 0700 and we’re off! Headed to the shelter for the warmup when Orangeman notice the nice new playground mat around Stowe Park. We stopped to check it out. Here’s what happened.

Warmup at playground:
Stretch
Toy soldiers x11 IC
SSH x11 IC
Merkins x11 IC

Mosey to bunker:

Partner Work?

I can’t believe it’s almost been a whole week before writing this the weasel shaker might come for me soon. I planned what I thought would be at least the first 30 minutes of the workout but with 8 solid HIMs joining me it was more like 20 minutes. This is what I remember since I kind of made this one up on the fly.

Pledge

Warmup in the Bunker
Seal Jacks x11 IC
Squats x11 IC
Toy Soldiers x11 IC
Stretches

Partner up and stay in Bunker for lazy DORA. Partner 1 would work while partner 2 planked, switch when needed or evenly OYO.
50 WWI, 100 merkins, 150 squats. Enough of that mess.

Mosey long way to parking lot across Pita Wheel. Dodge so leftover trash from Friday night festivities and get to work.
Partner booya triple nickel. Partners run to opposite ends of parking lot and perform 5 CDDs, meet back in the middle for 5 booya merkins do that x5.

We were headed to the track but someone, I think Watts Up, mentioned that a better less used parking lot was closer. Head there for some more DORA.
100 hand release merkins, 200 calf raises, and 300 LBC. Run outside of parking lot.

This is where it gets a little fuzzy. We ran to behind some building for some Mary of core work. Left there and headed to the Yank where there are some lit Christmas trees and a great spot for some half pipe lead by none other than Tesla. Don’t remember the exercises called but there were 2 burpees every time we crossed the middle. Finished that and made it to the statue for a few more exercises to finish.

Time.

Veteran’s Day Hero WODs

It started out a little rainy but who are we to complain with men and women risk their lives for days like today in much worse situations.

Pledge of Allegiance

Move to shelter to warm up and complete the first of two Hero WODS. Unfortunately we had no Veterans in attendance. A disclaimer was given about giving it your all because there are men and women who gave their lives for us.

Hero WOD one is the “PAZ” – Cash in with a 1,000 meter run then go into 22 minutes of AMRAP of 23 squats, 7 burpees and 14 push-ups. Cash out with another 1,000 meter run. During the work we kept a look out for FIA as we were on their turf. Two showed so we moved to finish.

With about 20 minutes left we moseyed to the Fighting Yank to attempt the “Donald L. Wheeler Jr.” hero WOD – 13 rounds for time of 13 squats, 13 push-ups, 13 reverse crunches and 13 dips. I think we got about 6-7 rounds in before time was called. I hope everyone else was as smoked as I was.

Ground Assault

What a great morning for a run or ruck. This is a 50 minute AO and YHC need all of those minutes today. Fannie Mae showed up a little late but caught up pretty quickly he has been putting in a ton of work. The ruckers had a great time too.

11 was the number

I put this one together on the fly, literally while we were running around downtown Belmont. I planned on the warmups being 11 reps of exercises since that’s my favorite number but everything else just happen to go that way. We only had 10 PAX present for the work but Gold Digger was running around so we will count him to make 11. This is what I wrote down.

Warmup:
SSH x11 IC
Toy soldiers x11 IC
Low slow squats x11 IC
Apolo Ohnos x11 IC

Mosey to front of Sammy’s to start route 66 using 11 street lights. Anchorman did a bunch of those the morning before at Tequila Sunrise so I tried to pick a different exercise, Orangeman suggested perfect form merkins so that’s what we did. That sucked.

Mosey to office parking lot across from Jekyll and Hyde for triple nickel – LBC and flutter kicks

Mosey to parking lot next to Pita Wheel for 11s – Mike Tyson’s and Imperial Walkers

Mosey across the street to big parking lot for DORA
100 American Hammers
200 Dying cockroaches
300 LBC’s

Mosey back to the Yank Statue with about 10 minutes left for Mary. 11 reps of everything was called thanks guys.

Cool runnings/rucking

Great morning for a run or ruck, 12 other PAX joined YHC well before 0500. That included Dr. Seuss and Solomon. We said the pledge a tad early since Flintstone was hyped and ready to go. As we took off for the run it was clear the cool weather had everyone feeling good, multiple PR’s were had check Strava. As we came back from the run Solomon and Dr. Seuss were leaving. Everyone else stayed for the COT where YHC was reminded twice that Dr. Seuss and Solomon were here, I got it guys but always appreciate the help.
